    Chapter 66 Future Plans

Nangong Wan and the nanny came over with the last plate of golden-fried poached eggs, placed the plates gently on the corner of the table, and turned to look at the two people who had just come downstairs.

Breakfast is very simple, toast, milk, fried eggs and so on.

Lu Jin held Xie Shuhan’s hand, with a slightly cool temperature on his fingertips. He turned his head and smoothed the broken hair on Xie Shuhan’s forehead before pulling him to sit down on the dining chair.

Nangong Wan sat opposite, looking at the hands held by the two of them, the smile in her eyes deepened a little deeper.

She added a spoonful of jam for Lu Jin and said softly: “Xiao Lu, did you drink very late with your uncle yesterday?”

When Xie Qing returned to her room last night, she smelled of alcohol so much that she almost kicked him straight to the guest room. It was conceivable that Lu Jin, who was accompanying him, must have drank too.

When Lu Jin heard this, the corners of his lips curved in a decent arc, with a genuine smile in his tone: “No aunt, but my uncle is very nice and talkative. We had a good conversation, so we drank a few more drinks.”

Nangong Wan glanced at him angrily, but her eyes were full of heartache: “Good boy, thank you for your hard work. Your uncle’s temperament means he is always wrong when he is happy. He must have drunk you a lot.”

Xie Shuhan raised his eyes, his eyelashes trembling slightly.

Lu Jin held his fingertips with his backhand, squeezed them gently, and indicated with his eyes that he was fine.

“Where’s dad?” Xie Shuhan spoke now, his voice still a little hoarse like when he woke up in the morning, but it was clear and pleasant.

“There was a morning meeting. I got up before dawn and left in a hurry after taking two bites.” Nangong Wan said, picking up a piece of fried egg and putting it on Xie Shuhan’s plate. “Eat it quickly. This egg is fried so tender that you like it.”

The three of them stopped talking and ate breakfast quietly.

Nangong Wan raised his eyes from time to time and looked at the two children opposite.

Lu Jin was carefully cutting the toast for Xie Shuhan, with gentle movements and focused eyes, even cutting the edges of the toast neatly.

Xie Shuhan lowered his eyes and ate quietly. The corners of his mouth would occasionally curve slightly, and his cold brows and eyes were filled with a soft warmth.

Such a scene made her feel so weak.

She watched Xie Shuhan grow up and knew that this child was cold-tempered and thoughtful. He had never been so close to anyone since he was a child. Now that Lu Jin could care about him like this, she was happy from the bottom of her heart.

After thinking for a moment, Nangong Wan put down the spoon in her hand, looked at Lu Jin, and said in a serious and gentle tone: “Xiao Lu, you are about to graduate. What are your plans for the future?”

Lu Jin paused while cutting the toast, and when he raised his eyes, his eyes were surprisingly bright. He looked at Xie Shuhan beside him, then turned to Nangong Wan, his tone was firm, and every word was solemn: “After graduation, I want to go abroad to get the certificate with Hanhan first, and then come back to take over the business of the company at home.”

The word “receive the certificate” is like a pebble falling into the calm lake, causing ripples in an instant.

When Nangong Wan heard this, she was stunned for a moment, and then the smile spread out of her eyes, and even the fine lines at the corners of her eyes were warm.

She knew that this child really cared about his son in his heart and put him first in everything.

She nodded, her tone full of agreement: “Okay, okay.”

Xie Shuhan’s fingertips holding the milk cup tightened slightly.

He lowered his eyes, and his long eyelashes covered the surging emotions in his eyes, but his heart seemed to be filled with something, warm and soft.

    Get the certificate.

When it came out of Lu Jin’s mouth, there was such a heavy sense of happiness that his heartbeat couldn’t help but skip a beat.

He turned his head and looked at the young man beside him. Lu Jin happened to look over as well, the smile in his eyes was so gentle that it could kill someone.

The two people’s eyes met in the air, and thousands of words turned into tenderness in their eyes.

Nangong Wan watched the interaction between the two and couldn’t help but chuckle. She looked at Lu Jin and her tone became gentler: “After some time, invite your parents out and let the two families have dinner together.”

Lu Jin’s eyes lit up instantly, like lit stars. He nodded quickly, with uncontrollable joy in his voice: “Okay, aunt! I’ll tell my parents when I get back!”

The breakfast ended in such a warm atmosphere.

The two packed up their things, said goodbye to Nangong Wan, and headed towards the school together.

Lu Jin held Xie Shuhan’s hand, their fingers clasped together, and the warmth between their palms was reassuring.

There are no classes in the school anymore. There are students everywhere in a hurry, holding thick materials in their hands, busy checking literature and writing papers. There is an atmosphere of tension and expectation in the air.

After arriving at school, the two of them walked slowly along the tree-lined avenue, stepping on the sunshine all over the ground, and their shadows were stretched very long.

Lu Jin tilted his head, looked at Xie Shuhan beside him, and couldn’t help but ask: “Hanhan, what are you going to do after graduation?”

Xie Shuhan paused in his steps and raised his eyes to look at him, with a faint smile in his eyes and a clear curve at the corner of his mouth.

He deliberately prolonged his tone, and his voice was clear and a little cunning: “Well… first get a certificate from someone, and then go to work at the law firm recommended by the instructor.”

The word “someone” was like a feather, gently scratching the tip of Lu Jin’s heart.

The silver-haired puppy’s eyes instantly turned into crescent moons, and the joy in his heart seemed to overflow. He stopped, turned around, hugged Xie Shuhan, buried his face in his neck, and rubbed it, his voice full of joyful smile: “Wife! Why are you so good! I like you so much!”

The warm breath brushed the side of his neck, carrying the familiar smell of cedar. The tips of Xie Shuhan’s ears turned red again. He raised his hand and patted Lu Jin’s back gently, but he could not suppress the smile at the corner of his mouth.

The sun shines through the gaps in the leaves and falls on the two people embracing each other, coating them with a golden halo.
