Chapter 52 Coming out to parents

Lu Jin’s fingertips holding the pen glowed with a faint red color, and the tip of the pen neatly wrote down his name on the document.

The coffee on the corner of the table had already cooled down, and there were fine drops of water condensing on the wall of the cup, but he was completely unaware of it. His fingertips turned over a page of thick cooperation agreement, and his eyes quickly scanned the terms and conditions. His brows occasionally frowned, and then relaxed again.

The traffic outside the window shrunk into blurry light and shadow, and the evening breeze passed through the half-open window lattice, ruffling his silver hair that fell in front of his forehead.

A few strands of hair stick to the smooth forehead, adding a bit of softness and losing most of the previous unruliness.

As soon as the fingertips landed on the next document, the mobile phone on the desktop suddenly vibrated, and the word “Mom” beating on the screen was particularly eye-catching.

Lu Jin paused, put down the pen, picked up the phone, and passed the answer button with his fingertips. His tone unconsciously softened, and he lost his willfulness towards Lu Weiting and became a little more well-behaved: “Hey, Mom.”

Ms. Tan’s warm but powerful voice came from the other end of the phone. The ending tone had a bit of the delicate texture unique to jewelry designers. It came through the receiver, clear and gentle: “Ajin, have you finished what you are doing?”

Lu Jin leaned on the office chair, leaning his back against the soft backrest. His eyes fell on the setting sun outside the window, and he responded softly: “It’s almost time. There are only a few documents left. I’ll get off work after processing them.”

As he spoke, his fingertips unconsciously rubbed the phone casing.

The next second, Ms. Tan’s voice changed her subject. There was a hint of curiosity hidden in her tone, but she still remained calm: “Your father called me just now and said that you have someone you like? Are you serious?”

Lu Jin’s eyelids twitched slightly, and a trace of helplessness flashed across his eyes. Old man Lu moved quickly and turned around to tell the matter to his mother.

He didn’t hide it at all, he couldn’t hide the happiness in his tone, and even his voice was a little brighter: “Yes, I’m serious, I like it very much.”

When he mentioned Xie Shuhan, his tone was unconsciously filled with tenderness, as if he was holding a heart full of warmth, and even every word in his words was wrapped in sweetness.

Ms. Tan has been immersed in the jewelry design industry for many years and is used to seeing all kinds of people’s hearts. She has always been keen and transparent. Just from her son’s tone, you can hear the sincerity that can’t be hidden. There is no half-hearted effort, and it is all true and cherished.

Her tone suddenly softened a lot, and she lost her usual capable and strong attitude towards the outside world, leaving only the gentle concern of a mother for her son: “I think he must be a very good child to make you care so much. Ah Jin, can you take some time another day and bring him back to my mother? My mother also wants to meet the person who can make my son at the top of her heart.”

Lu Jin held the phone tightly with his fingertips. His tone was calm but firm, without any hesitation: “Mom, he is a boy.”

The moment the words fell, there was a brief silence on the other end of the phone, with only the sound of subtle breathing coming through the receiver.

Lu Jin was thinking silently in his heart, if his mother objected, how he could persuade her slowly and let her know how important Xie Shuhan was to him.

The silence lasted for only a few seconds, and then Ms. Tan’s voice came again. There was no doubt or objection as expected, and it was still gentle: “It’s okay for boys.”

She paused, and her tone was full of tolerance, “As long as you really like him, no matter how good he is to you, gender will never be an obstacle. I’d better bring him back to mom some other time. Mom also wants to get to know him well.”

Lu Jin’s eyes were full of astonishment, and then a strong warmth came over him. The anxiety in his heart disappeared instantly, as if he was wrapped in the sunset, making his eyes warm.

His Adam’s apple rolled slightly, “Okay, after a while, I will find a suitable opportunity to take him home.”

“Well, there’s no need to rush, as long as you two feel comfortable getting along.” Ms. Tan said softly, and told him a few more words not to work too hard and remember to eat on time before slowly hanging up the phone.

Lu Jin was holding the phone, and he could still feel the residual warmth of the receiver on his fingertips. His eyes were full of smiles, and his heart seemed to be filled with honey, so sweet that it made him sick.

He put his phone on the table, raised his hand and rubbed his cheek. He couldn’t suppress the smile on his lips, and his mood became lighter while processing the documents, and the remaining fatigue just now completely dissipated.

He lowered his head and picked up the pen. As soon as he wrote a word on the document, the phone on the desktop vibrated again, and the three words “Old Man Lu” jumped on the screen.

Lu Jin raised his eyebrows, a hint of understanding smile flashing across his eyes.

He picked up his cell phone and answered it, with a hint of deliberate ridicule in his tone: “Why, Mr. Lu has just finished what he was doing and came here specifically to ask questions?”

Lu Weiting’s calm voice came from the other end of the phone, with a bit of the unique ability of a businessman, but it was less serious than usual and more serious: “Lu Jin, you like boys? Is this true?”

Lu Jin leaned on the office chair, crossed his legs casually, and said calmly, without any hesitation: “Well, it’s true. Why, Mr. Lu is worried that no one will inherit the Lu family’s business?” He said, with a hint of joking in his eyes, deliberately teasing him.

Lu Weiting sneered, his tone full of disapproval, but showing a bit of preparedness and calmness: “As early as when you have not been in love these years and have no interest in the opposite sex around you, your mother and I have vaguely thought about this possibility.

I made an agreement with your cousin two years ago. If you don’t plan to get married in the future, or if you like a boy, the Lu family’s family business will be handed over to your cousin’s children. They are all members of the family anyway, so it doesn’t count as falling into the hands of outsiders.”

Lu Jin’s hand holding the phone paused, and a trace of surprise flashed across his eyes. He didn’t expect that Lu Weiting had already considered this and made arrangements in advance.

He knew in his heart that the reason why Lu Weiting was so unreserved was because his family had never had the twists and turns of the fights between wealthy families.

When his grandfather passed away, his uncle Lu Yeting took the initiative to give in and transferred the inheritance rights of the Lu Group to Lu Weiting. He only retained part of the shares and could do what he likes with peace of mind.

Over the years, Lu Weiting has always treated his cousin Lu Yan like his own son, doting on him. Now it is reasonable and reasonable to let his cousin’s children take over the family business. It is all the hard work of his family.

“Old man Lu, you have thought carefully enough.” Lu Jin helplessly held his forehead, but couldn’t help but smile at the corner of his mouth, his tone full of relief.

“But I don’t have any objection. My cousin and I have been like brothers since we were young. He treats me well and I can trust him. In the future, it is better for his children to take over the family business than to leave it to outsiders with evil intentions.”

As he spoke, he remembered the scene when his cousin got married a year ago, and his eyes were full of warmth. He thought that it wouldn’t be long before a nephew or niece was added to the family.

Lu Weiting hummed softly on the other end of the phone, with a somewhat serious tone in his voice, but full of expectations and concerns for his son: “As long as you don’t have any objections, find a suitable time and bring him back to your mother and I. We, the Lu family, must have the proper etiquette, and we must not wrong other people’s children.

Lu Jin, let me say something ugly before you. If you dare to be disrespectful to others or bully them, I will kick you out of the house. Don’t come to me to cry.”

When Lu Jin heard this, his eyes were full of seriousness and his tone was solemn. It was rare that he didn’t talk back to Lu Weiting: “I know, I know, I know it in my heart. He is the person I care deeply about. How can I bully him? I will only treat him well and treat him well all my life.”

There was nothing perfunctory in these words, it was all a promise from the bottom of his heart. Xie Shuhan was the person he had finally caught up with, and the person he wanted to protect for the rest of his life. How could he be willing to let the other person suffer even the slightest injustice.

Lu Weiting felt relieved when he heard his serious tone. Without saying anything more, he told him to work hard and not be too tired, and then hung up the phone.

Lu Jin put down his cell phone, leaned on the office chair, and looked up out of the window. The sun had already set, and the sky was dyed a gentle orange-pink color.

Warm light shone on his face, his silver hair had a soft luster, and his eyes were full of unhidden smiles and warmth.

The understanding and support of his family seemed to give him full confidence and made him feel more at ease.

He calmed down and picked up the pen again. His eyes fell on the documents on the table, and his eyes became more focused. The tip of the pen quickly crossed the paper, much faster than before.
