Chapter 3 It’s not convenient to eat

When Lu Jin kicked open the bedroom door, the door panel hit the wall with a muffled sound, causing the ceiling fan to shake.

The bunch of dull silver hairs on his forehead stood upright with anger, like a small antenna that had been pressed on a switch, trembling on top of his head with his rapid steps.

“Yu, Yi, Sail!” The three words squeezed out from the gap between the teeth, with an undeniable low pressure, and even the air seemed to freeze a bit.

Yu Yifan was slumped in his chair, his legs resting on the edge of the desk, crunching tomato-flavored potato chips.

Hearing this “death call”, the bag of potato chips in his hand fell to the ground with a clatter, and the orange-red crumbs were scattered all over the floor.

His body was as stiff as frozen meat. He turned his neck slowly, inch by inch, and faced Lu Jin’s peach blossom eyes that were burning with anger. His Adam’s apple rolled unconsciously.

“Hey, hey hey…Brother Jin, you, you are back? The potato chips I just bought are super crispy, do you want to try them?” Yu Yifan tremblingly picked up the bag of potato chips and handed it over with both hands, like a soldier handing down a book.

“I tasted shit!” Lu Jin swung away the potato chip bag, and the bag flew to the corner with a clatter, and the crumbs were scattered all over the floor.

“It’s all your fault! I asked you to take a handsome photo of me, but forget it if you didn’t take it. Why were you running? I didn’t stop the car and knocked Xie Shuhan out. I had to accompany him to the infirmary!”

The more he talked, the angrier he became, and he stretched out his hand to twist Yu Yifan’s arm.

Yu Yifan grimaced in pain, but did not dare to hide. He could only bury his head low and huddle his shoulders, looking like an ostrich waiting to be slaughtered.

“Wrong, wrong, brother Jin, I was wrong!” Yu Yifan begged for mercy in a muffled voice.

After Lu Jin had twisted enough, he threw away his hand and sat back down angrily.

He grabbed the mineral water on the table, unscrewed the bottle cap with a snap, raised his head and took a big sip, and the cold water slid down his throat.

Yu Yifan rubbed his arm that was red from being twisted, and approached cautiously, his curiosity overriding the pain: “Brother Jin, you just said…that you knocked Xie Shuhan? Is that the ‘Flower of the High Mountain’ in the Law Department?”

“Otherwise, who else is there?” Lu Jin rolled his eyes at him and unconsciously rubbed the lines of the mineral water bottle with his fingertips. “I ran after you too fast and didn’t look at the road. I knocked him down and sat on the ground.”

“Oh my God!” Yu Yifan’s eyes widened and he covered his head with a look of shock. “Then he didn’t turn his back on you? Didn’t he say cold words to you?”

“Why are you so embarrassed? I helped him up and accompanied him to the infirmary to apply medicine. He can’t get angry with me, right?” Lu Jin held his head and recalled Xie Shuhan’s appearance at that time.

The boy was wearing a clean white shirt, with the collar slightly open, revealing a small piece of fair skin.

When he was knocked down, his long eyelashes trembled like a frightened butterfly.

Later, in the infirmary, he sat obediently and applied medicine. His profile was soft. Although he spoke little, he did not show any impatience. Instead, he said softly, “Thank you.”

No matter how you think about it, it has nothing to do with “cold”. Instead, it’s a bit dull and a bit squeamish.

“You don’t know!” Yu Yifan came closer, lowered his voice, and said mysteriously, “Last time in the library, a girl accidentally spilled coffee on his book. Guess what? He didn’t even frown. He just looked up at the girl. Her eyes were cold and emotionless, as if she were looking at a stone! The girl was so scared that she cried on the spot. She even forgot to apologize and ran away!”

As he spoke, he imitated Xie Shuhan’s expression at that time, with a straight face and empty eyes, like an emotionless robot.

“Is it that exaggerated?” Lu Jin raised his eyebrows, but couldn’t help but think about Xie Shuhan’s appearance again.

It is true that he has a cold appearance, with white skin and thin lips. He has a strong aura when he is not talking, but he doesn’t seem to be scary at all.

“It’s not an exaggeration at all!” Yu Yifan slapped the table and dropped a few more potato chips. “Think about it, his grades are always first in his grade, and he gets full marks in professional courses every time. I heard that his family is in very good condition, and he is so handsome… How can such a perfect person not be cold-tempered? How many people in our department want to talk to him, but none of them have the guts!”

Lu Jin curled his lips and didn’t answer any more.

“Oh, by the way,” Lu Jin suddenly remembered something, turned his head and deliberately kept a straight face, “I don’t want to talk to you today, so don’t bother me.”

Yu Yifan knew that he was still angry about what happened in the morning, so he quickly smiled and stretched out his hand to shake his arm: “Brother Jin, don’t be angry! I’m wrong. I’m going to treat you to something delicious. What do you want to eat? Milk tea? Burger? Or the fried chicken at the school gate?”

Lu Jin was unmoved and still looked at the phone screen without even raising his eyelids.

Yu Yifan gritted his teeth and spent his money: “Then… small cake? Two pieces! It’s the dessert shop you said was super delicious last time. One piece each for strawberry and mango!”

“Deal.” Lu Jin turned his face instantly, his eyes brightened, and the anger just now seemed to have been pressed on the delete button and disappeared without a trace.

Yu Yifan looked at his expression of forgetting grudges after seeing sweets, rolled his eyes, and complained: “I’m really convinced by you, Lu Jin! I bought you off with just two small cakes. You’re too good-tempered, right?”

“That’s because the cake is delicious.” Lu Jin retorted confidently and picked up the coat on the table, “Let’s go, why are you standing there? If it’s a little later, all the fresh cakes will be taken away.”

Yu Yifan sighed helplessly, picked up his wallet resignedly, and followed him out.

The two chatted and laughed all the way, from interesting things in class to gossip at school, and it was afternoon before they knew it.

The dessert shop is not far from the school, just a ten-minute walk.

Pushing open the glass door, a rich milky fragrance hit them, and the sweet smell instantly enveloped the two of them.

There were not many people in the store, soft piano music was playing, and warm yellow lights shone on the shelves, illuminating the rows of exquisite little cakes particularly attractively.

Lu Jin’s eyes suddenly lit up. He walked straight to the display cabinet and bent down to select carefully.

Although he is tall, thin and has a carefree personality, he is extremely picky when it comes to eating sweets.

As a standard “pure male”, his love for sweets has long been engraved in his bones, especially strawberry and mango flavored cakes, which are his favorites.

“This strawberry one looks good, with plenty of cream and fresh strawberries.” Lu Jin pointed to a piece of cake covered in pink cream with three whole strawberries on top, his eyes sparkling.

“The mango ones are pretty good too, with lots of pulp and nice colors.” He pointed to a piece of yellow cake next to him. There was a full layer of mango pulp and some coconut grated sprinkled on it. It looked sweet but not greasy.

Yu Yifan nodded while watching from the side, but silently calculating the balance in his wallet. The two pieces of cake added together were worth his two days of meals.

After Lu Jin made his choice, he turned to look at Yu Yifan, signaling him to pay the bill.

That look in his eyes showed a sense of self-righteousness and a sense of matter-of-factness, which made Yu Yifan feel angry and laugh at the same time, and could only walk to the cashier resignedly.

After paying the money, Lu Jin took the cake box from the clerk and held it in his arms carefully. He couldn’t hide the happiness on his face and his steps became much brisker.

He happily carried the cake and walked out. As soon as he opened the glass door, the cell phone in his pocket rang.

Lu Jin was holding two cake boxes in one hand, and struggled to take out his mobile phone with the other hand. When he unlocked the screen, he saw a message from an unknown number, with only a period in the note.

.: It’s not convenient for me to eat now.

Lu Jin looked at the message and was stunned for a moment, then realized that this should be Xie Shuhan’s number. He didn’t have time to change the note.

His fingers tapped quickly on the screen: Where are you?

Within a few seconds, the message came back.

    .: Dormitory, A509.

Lu Jin looked at the numbers “A509” and thought about it.

He thought for a moment, replied “Okay”, and then put away his phone.

Yu Yifan came out after paying the bill and saw Lu Jin standing motionless at the door, still holding the cake in his hand. He walked over in confusion: “Brother Jin, what’s wrong? What are you doing standing here? Go back to the dormitory to eat cake, or go outside to find a place for a late-night snack?”

“I’m not going, I’m going to pay off the debt.” Lu Jin put his phone back in his pocket, picked up the cake box, turned around and walked towards the school, walking a little faster than before.

“Repay the debt?” Yu Yifan froze on the spot, scratched his head, with a confused look on his face, “You are so rich, who do you still owe?”

“Don’t ask, just stay here. I’ll leave first.” Lu Jin waved his hand without looking back, and his figure quickly disappeared into the crowd.

Yu Yifan stood there, looking at his back and rubbing the back of his head, filled with doubts.

But he also knew that it was useless to ask Lu Jin what he didn’t want to say. He could only sigh helplessly and turned around to walk to his dormitory.
