    Chapter 20 Jealousy surges

The weekend sun shines through the cracks in the bedroom curtains, diagonally entering the room, casting mottled light and shadow on the floor.

Lu Jin’s fingertips jumped quickly on the game controller. The battle special effects on the screen exploded and dissipated. The victory tone repeated mechanically, beating the air again and again, but it could not dispel the growing boredom.

He had been playing the game for three hours straight, and his fingertips were numb.

Throwing the handle on the sofa, Lu Jin leaned back, his back sank into the soft cushion, and raised his hand to rub his eye-catching short silver hair.

The hair was soft and fluffy, a little messy when he rubbed it, but it made his eyebrows sharp and a bit careless.

Lu Jin stood up and walked to the table, picked up the instant coffee can on the table, tore open a pack and poured it into a ceramic cup.

The moment the boiling water was washed down, the brown powder swirled and dissolved, and the rich aroma of coffee rose up and filled the nose.

He was holding a warm cup, his fingertips touched the slightly cool wall, but his eyes fell on the mobile phone lying quietly on the table.

The screen is dark and there are no new messages.

Lu Jin’s thoughts drifted to Xie Shuhan uncontrollably.

I wonder what he is doing now?

Lu Jin picked up his phone, unlocked the screen, and clicked on the chat box with Xie Shuhan.

He tapped his fingers in the input box, deleting and changing.

“What are you doing?” It was too casual, like checking a guard.

“How was your weekend?” It’s too ordinary and nothing new.

“Are you over your cold?” Does asking this seem too caring and a bit deliberate?

After struggling for a long time, the input box was finally blank.

Lu Jin sighed, threw the phone back on the table, picked up the coffee and took a sip.

The bitter taste spreads on the tip of the tongue and slides down the throat.

As the heir to the Lu Group, he has been accustomed to doing whatever he wants since he was a child. He never gets what he wants, and he never hides what he wants to say.

But facing Xie Shuhan, for the first time, he had this feeling of worrying about gains and losses.

Even sending a message has to be considered repeatedly, for fear that my abruptness will offend the other party.

In this way, the two days of the weekend passed quietly amidst Lu Jin’s repeated entanglements and boredom.

Early on Monday morning, just after dawn, Lu Jin climbed out of bed.

After washing, I looked in the mirror and took care of my silver hair to make it look very handsome.

There was just a strand of hair that was sticking up disobediently. He tried to smooth it out several times, but finally just let it stick up, adding a bit of youthful air.

He carried his bag and walked out of the dormitory building briskly.

The morning air carries slightly cool water vapor, which is refreshing and refreshing when breathed into the lungs.

There were not many people on campus, and the camphor trees on both sides of the road were lush and green, with tiny bits of morning light leaking through their branches and leaves.

Lu Jin went straight to Duzhi Building in a hurry, with excitement in his steps.

Still dozens of meters away from Duzhi Building, Lu Jin saw the familiar figure standing at the door of the building.

Xie Shuhan was wearing a light gray T-shirt with a thin white coat on top. He stood tall and straight, with clean lines on his profile.

The early morning sun shone on him, giving him a soft halo, diluting the usual sense of alienation.

Lu Jin’s heartbeat was inexplicably faster, and his steps were subconsciously lighter, wanting to quietly walk over and scare him.

But at this moment, his steps suddenly stopped, and his whole figure seemed to be nailed to the spot.

Next to Xie Shuhan, there was a man standing.

The man was wearing a pressed light blue shirt and a pair of thin-rimmed gold glasses. His eyes were gentle behind the lenses, and he had a well-placed smile on his lips. He looked gentle and humble.

He was tilting his head slightly and talking to Xie Shuhan in a friendly tone, as if he was discussing some professional issue.

Xie Shuhan, on the other hand, did not frown and keep his distance as usual. Instead, he nodded slightly and listened very carefully.

Occasionally, he would respond with a few words. His voice was not high, but it was clearly audible. The atmosphere between the two was harmonious and natural. The familiar tacit understanding stung Lu Jin’s eyes.

Lu Jin felt as if the soles of his feet were filled with lead, so heavy that he could not move even half a step.

His joyful mood just now was suddenly doused with a basin of cold water, which made his heart feel tight.

He stood in the shadow of a tree not far away, and an inexplicable sour feeling surged up from the bottom of his heart, spreading along his blood vessels to his limbs and bones.

Lu Jin watched them discuss for a long time. The smile on the man’s face never changed. Xie Shuhan would occasionally show a faint smile because of the other party’s words.

He couldn’t bear it any longer.

Taking a deep breath, Lu Jin raised his feet and strode towards the two of them.

His footsteps were heavy and made a “dong-dong” sound.

Walking up to the two of them, before they could react, Lu Jin stretched out his arms and squeezed in between Xie Shuhan and the man.

His movements were not small, and his shoulder bumped into the man inadvertently, with a hint of secret provocation.

The sudden change made both of them stunned for a moment. They stopped talking in unison and turned their eyes to Lu Jin.

Xie Shuhan looked at the sudden appearance of the person, his brows furrowed imperceptibly, and a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes.

He was still tired from the cold, and his voice was still a little hoarse: “Why are you here?”

Lu Jin did not answer him immediately. Instead, he turned to look at the man next to him. His eyes were scrutinizing, and he looked at the man from head to toe.

He is indeed not as tall as me, nor as handsome as me. He has a gentle temperament and doesn’t seem to be aggressive.

This realization made the jealousy in his heart calm down a little, but the discomfort still lingered.

He cleared his throat and deliberately raised his voice a little. His tone was a little bit matter-of-fact: “Ahem, Xie Shuhan has a cold. He’s not feeling well yet. He can’t speak too much, otherwise his throat will hurt again.”

When he said this, he looked directly at the man, as if he was declaring his sovereignty, but also as if he was driving him away tactfully.

The man obviously did not expect to encounter such a situation. After being stunned for a moment, he quickly reacted. He still had a gentle smile on his face and nodded politely: “That’s it. Then Shuhan, you have a good rest. We will continue to discuss the issue next time.”

His voice was gentle and cultivated, and he did not show any dissatisfaction because of Lu Jin’s abruptness.

Xie Shuhan glanced at Lu Jin, with a bit of helplessness in his eyes, then nodded to the man and said in a hoarse voice: “Well, senior, walk slowly.”

The man called the senior responded and glanced at Lu Jin again, his eyes lingering on his conspicuous silver hair for a moment.

Then he nodded politely in greeting, turned around and walked away, walking leisurely.

Lu Jin didn’t look back until the man’s figure disappeared around the corner.

The originally disobedient silver hair on his head was now raised higher, as if it was full of undisguised dissatisfaction like its owner.

Lu Jin sat down on the chair, put his hands on his knees, raised his chin slightly, and his cheeks were a little bulging, obviously he was having trouble.

He originally thought that Xie Shuhan would ask why he suddenly appeared, why he interrupted their conversation, and even try to calm his obviously unhappy mood.

Unexpectedly, Xie Shuhan just sat down next to him. After a few seconds of silence, he asked, “Don’t you have classes every day for your finance major?”

The tone was calm, no emotion could be heard, but it hit Lu Jin’s heart like a hammer.

Lu Jin majored in finance. He had already decided to directly inherit the family business after graduation. Going to school was more like an experience for him.

But Xie Shuhan’s words completely changed his taste when he heard them.

Does this mean you dislike him?Do you dislike him for having nothing to do and always bothering him?

Lu Jin turned his head suddenly and looked at Xie Shuhan in disbelief.

The boy’s eyes were large and the pupils were pure black. They were full of grievances at the moment, like a puppy that had been neglected by its owner, wet and a little accusatory.

“Xie Shuhan,” his voice was muffled, with an imperceptible nasal sound, “Are you bothering me now?”

Seeing his appearance, Xie Shuhan felt even more helpless.

But seeing the grievance in the young man’s eyes, he swallowed the words that reached his lips and only said softly: “No.”

“It would be weird if there wasn’t.” Lu Jin muttered in a low voice, obviously not believing what he said.

The jealousy in his heart hadn’t dissipated yet, and the image of the senior figure chatting happily with them just now pierced his heart like a thorn, making him uncomfortable.

He hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t help but ask, his tone a little awkward, deliberately pretending to be casual: “Who was that person just now?”

“Senior from the same department.” Xie Shuhan answered truthfully, his voice still hoarse, with the laziness of an unhealed cold.

“Do you have a good relationship?” Lu Jin asked immediately, his eyes fixed on Xie Shuhan’s face, afraid of missing any expression on his face.

Xie Shuhan nodded, without thinking too much, and said truthfully: “Well, we’ve known each other since high school.”

He felt that Lu Jin was a little strange today.

“Have we known each other since high school?” Lu Jin repeated this sentence in his mind, feeling the sourness in his heart surge up instantly, stronger than the coffee he just drank.

Good guy, it turns out they have known each other for such a long time.

We’ve known each other since high school, doesn’t that mean we know each other very well?

The corners of Lu Jin’s mouth turned downward unconsciously, and the grievance on his face became more obvious.

He pursed his lips and wanted to ask something more, but when the words reached his lips, he swallowed them back.

He was afraid that asking too many questions would make him appear too stingy and make Xie Shuhan even more disgusted.

Xie Shuhan seemed to notice something was wrong with him and turned his head to look at him.

The young man’s silver hair sparkled in the sun, and the strand of hair on his forehead was still sticking up. There was an obvious depression on his face, like a little beast that had been beaten by frost, and he looked a little pitiful.

Xie Shuhan’s heart moved inexplicably, Lu Jin looked so alive like this.

Lu Jin glanced at Xie Shuhan secretly, looking at his clear brows and lips that were slightly pale due to the cold.

The grievances and jealousies in my heart were intertwined, and finally turned into a gentle sigh, dissipating in the morning breeze.

It doesn’t matter, I am closer to Xie Shuhan now, it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter.

A certain silver-haired puppy coaxed himself into peace in this way.
