    Chapter 1 Collision

The July wind swept through Tsinghua University with a heat wave, and the leaves of the sycamore trees were wilted in the sun.

The chirping of cicadas formed an airtight net in the thick shade. Only the open-air court in front of the West Gymnasium was still boiling with vitality.

The plastic floor shimmered due to the scorching sun, and every particle of dust raised reflected gold.

The sidelines were crowded with students wearing floral skirts and white T-shirts. The sound of bubbles from ice-cold soda mixed with cheers made the summer heat more vivid.

Lu Jin stood outside the three-point line. His No. 8 red jersey was stained with different shades of color due to sweat. Two buttons were casually opened at the collar, revealing his clear collarbone.

The silver fragments of hair on his forehead were tied up with a black hairband, and a few disobedient strands of hair stuck to his plump forehead. The sunlight fell on the tips of his hair, like a handful of tiny stars.

He bent his knees slightly and held the basketball in the palm of his right hand. His knuckles were white from exertion, and the lines on the surface of the basketball were shiny with sweat.

The point guard on the opposite side was hunched over and staring closely at him, and the number 12 printed on the back of his jersey had already been blurred by sweat.

But Lu Jin’s eyes were not solemn at all, but rather a bit careless and contemptuous, just like a cheetah staring at the prey struggling under its paws. The victory or defeat was already decided the moment he raised his hand.

“Beep.” The referee blew the whistle. Just as the opponent’s player was about to dribble through, Lu Jin suddenly moved.

His steps were as brisk as stepping on the wind. His left shoulder sank slightly as he was about to cut to the left. When the opponent’s center of gravity shifted, his body suddenly slid to the right. His movements were so clean that there was no trace of sloppiness.

The basketball was still stuck to the opponent’s fingertips, but Lu Jin’s palm had already covered it. His fingertips clasped the surface of the ball and lightly hooked it, and the ball landed steadily in his arms.

The sidelines suddenly erupted in screams. Girls in pink dresses stood on tiptoes waving support signs. The word “Lu Jin” dazzled in the sun.

He dribbled the ball towards the opponent’s half, his sneakers making a sharp “squeak” sound as they rubbed against the ground, and the wind whistled in his ears, making the hem of his jersey rustle.

Two defenders came to double-team him from both sides, their arms almost touching his waist and abdomen, but Lu Jin did not slow down at all.

He suddenly stepped back, flipped his wrist and pulled the ball behind him. His body sank down to avoid the interception on the left. When he stood up again, he had already gone behind the defender. The basketball made a beautiful circle on his fingertips and was then firmly held on his chest.

“Look at me!” He turned his head and shouted toward the sidelines, his voice carrying the unique clearness of a young man and a bit of hoarse magnetism.

The next second, he jumped up with both feet on the ground, stretching his body into a smooth arc in the air. The sun shone from behind him, stretching his shadow long and casting it on the backboard.

Raising his right hand high, with a flick of his wrist, the basketball flew out along a perfect parabola, streaking a light red afterimage in the air, and accurately passed through the net with a “swish” without even shaking the basket.

“Three points! Lu Jin is awesome!” Yu Yifan on the sidelines jumped up and waved his mineral water bottle, shouting that his voice was hoarse.

When Lu Jin landed, he took two steps back, tapped the ground with his toes, raised his hand and pulled the hair tie, revealing his smooth forehead. The sweat on his forehead flowed down his cheeks, dripping on the jersey and spreading out a small dark patch.

He glanced at the scoreboard, 54:55, the red numbers were still flashing, and there were only two minutes left before the end of the game.

The captain on the opposite side was livid, patting his teammates on the shoulders and shouting tactics, his voice full of anxiety.

After the restart, the opponent’s players obviously sped up their pace and were almost trotting when dribbling, but Lu Jin was like a shadow stuck behind them, unable to get away no matter how he changed direction.

After a pass error, as soon as the basketball left the opponent’s hand, Lu Jin rushed forward. The moment his fingertips touched the ball, he pulled back hard, and the ball changed direction and flew towards his teammates.

But before his teammates could catch the ball, he quickly turned around and ran toward the basket, reaching out to signal his teammates to pass the ball.

The basketball flew in the air. Lu Jin jumped up to catch the ball. When he landed, he was hit on the shoulder by the opponent’s player. His body shook but he did not fall.

He hugged the ball tightly, with his back to the basket, his hips gently pushed against the defender, then suddenly turned around and pushed the ball out with his wrist.

The basketball rubbed the edge of the basket and spun twice before finally falling into the net. The cheers from the sidelines reached another climax, and even the referee couldn’t help but look up at the scoreboard.

“Look at this number!” Lu Jin pointed to the “8” on his jersey, his voice not loud but clearly reaching everyone’s ears, “Remember, dad will always be dad.”

He raised his eyebrows, unable to hide the smile in his eyes. Sweat dripped down his jawline and fell on the hot ground, evaporating instantly.

The next minute or so became Lu Jin’s personal show.

He was like a cheetah that had completely let go of its arms and legs. Every sprint was as fast as the wind, and every jump was as precise as if it had been measured.

The opposing players tried their best to intercept, and some even deliberately bumped his waist with their elbows, but he seemed not to feel the pain and still nimbly shuttled through the crowd.

    Holding the ball outside the three-point line, he bent his knees slightly, locked his eyes on the basket, raised his wrist, and the basketball hit the net again;

When he received a long pass from his teammate during the fast break, he rushed forward with the ball in one hand. The defenders behind him tried their best to catch up, but they could only watch him leap and shoot, all in one movement.

The numbers on the scoreboard kept jumping, 57:55, 60:55, 63:55…

Every time a goal was scored, the screams from the sidelines got louder.

In the last thirty seconds, Lu Jin stood outside the three-point line again. The opponent sent three people to surround him, but he just smiled faintly and suddenly smashed the ball to the ground.

The moment the basketball bounced, he slipped between the two defenders and reached the basket when he reached out to catch the ball.

He took off lightly and put the ball into the basket. His movements were so gentle that it didn’t look like he was playing a fierce game, but rather like he was completing an elegant performance.

“Didi.” The final whistle sounded, and the scoreboard was fixed at 66:55, with the red numbers dazzlingly announcing victory.

Lu Jin gasped and put his hands on his knees. Sweat dripped down his face and formed a small puddle on the ground.

The players on the opposite side stood dejectedly. Someone kicked the ground hard with unwillingness in his eyes, but Lu Jin didn’t look at them at all and turned around to walk to the sidelines.

Yu Yifan immediately handed over a bottle of ice-cold mineral water, and the bottle cap had already been unscrewed.

“Brother Jin, you are too fierce! In the last two minutes, you scored 11 three-pointers in a row and just pushed them to the ground and rubbed them!”

He danced with excitement, “Didn’t you see that the captain’s face on the other side was as green as a cucumber!”

Lu Jin took the water, raised his head and took a big sip. The cold liquid slid down his throat, dissipating some of the heat.

He casually wiped the sweat from his face. The sweat dripped down his jawline and onto his collarbone, and then slipped into his collar. His whole body exuded the unique and powerful hormonal aura of a young man.

“It’s okay,” he said casually, but he couldn’t hide the smile on his lips.

“By the way, Brother Jin,” Yu Yifan suddenly remembered something and patted his thigh, “before you go on stage, you asked me to take a handsome photo of you. I…”

He got stuck mid-sentence, his eyes avoiding Lu Jin.

He was too immersed in watching the game just now. From the moment Lu Jin made his first three-pointer, he just screamed and cheered and completely forgot about taking pictures.

Lu Jin raised his eyebrows and tapped the mineral water bottle in his hand, “What did you say? I didn’t hear clearly.”

There was a hint of danger in his voice, and his silver hair swayed dizzyingly in the sunlight.

Yu Yifan swallowed and took two steps back, “Um… that… I suddenly remembered that I have something else to do, so I’m leaving first!”

After saying that, he turned around and ran, his steps as fast as stepping on a hot wheel.

“Yu Yifan!” Lu Jin put the mineral water bottle on the bench next to him and ran after him, “You’re finished! I play the game so hard, but I don’t even have a handsome photo!”

The sunlight stretched the shadows of the two of them very long. Yu Yifan turned around and begged for mercy while running, “Brother Jin, I was wrong! Next time! Next time I will definitely take pictures for you! Ten pictures! No, a hundred pictures!”

Lu Jin chased after him with a smile on his lips.

The two of them ran around the corner of the gymnasium. Lu Jin was looking at Yu Yifan in front of him and did not notice the person coming towards him.

By the time he reacted, it was too late to brake and he could only watch as he was hit.

There was a muffled sound of “bang”, and the opponent was hit so hard that he staggered back two steps and fell heavily to the ground.

The documents in his arms were scattered all over the floor, white papers flew everywhere, and some were blown far away by the wind.

Lu Jin didn’t stand firm either, and stumbled forward before holding on to the wall to steady himself.

A crisp scent of cedar penetrates the nose. It is not the sweetness of perfume, but like the wind in the pine forest after snow, with a bit of chill but extremely refreshing.

Then, he heard a slight “hiss”. The sound was not loud, but it made him wake up instantly.

Whether Yu Yifan is finished or not, Lu Jin doesn’t know, he must be finished.
