Chapter Index

    Yu Jingyan, you’re done

Qiu Yin’an thought to herself that she had to quickly tell Bai Chengying why the elixir didn’t work, so that Bai Chengying wouldn’t keep putting the blame on Wan Qiongju’s head.

He plans to embark on the road to the White Cliff of Hanling Mountains again no later than mid-summer next year to find another Sitting Buddha’s Hand for Bai Chengying.

Qiu Yin’an was tired of the unhappy endings after every conversation with Bai Chengying, so he simply picked up a pen and wrote down his meaning on paper.

Qiu Yin’an rang the bell to summon the spirit fox. The spirit fox held its four paws upside down and ran to the couch before turning into a human. “Master, what are your orders?”

Qiu Yin’an folded the paper and handed it to him, “Next time when you run to Wanyun Pavilion, give this note to Bai Chengying.”

When Linghu heard Bai Chengying, he immediately curled his lips and said, “Master has an order, how can we wait? I’ll go now.”

The spirit fox accepted the note and ran out of the door happily.

Qiu Yin’an looked at the spirit fox’s excited back and blinked slowly. Bai Chengying had a cold heart, and she didn’t know when this enthusiastic little spirit fox would make him fall in love. But on second thought, she could at least see her sweetheart as she pleased. This was also a blessing, and she didn’t have to sigh for it too much.

Wan Qiongju stretched out his hand and gently covered the back of Qiu Yin’an’s hand that was resting on the small table. “Master, the elixir given to Bai Chengying has failed, and the elixir given to Brother Xiaoye probably has no effect. Otherwise, go to Jiuling Mountain, bring the red flame furnace, and try to refine the elixir for Lord Yao again.”

“That’s what I meant. Anyway, it’s easy to get them the ingredients for alchemy, so there’s no need to spend a lot of money.” Qiu Yin’an had a warm smile in his eyes. He turned his wrist and intertwined his fingers with Wan Qiongju. “I haven’t told Yao Ye about the cure for my short-lived curse. I just want to take a trip to Jiuling Mountain before New Year’s Eve to tell him. He will definitely be happy for me.”

The master and the apprentice used the Cloud Riding Bell and stepped on the Lingyun and galloped towards Jiuling Mountain. Near the foot of the mountain, Wan Qiongju glanced down and saw that the street was empty and no one could be found.

Qiu Yin’an moved her fingertips, which were held in Wan Qiongju’s hand and felt warm, “What’s wrong?”

Wan Qiongju retracted his gaze and said, “I remember when I came here last time, the foot of the mountain was very lively. There were stalls on both sides of the road, and the streets were full of people. Why is there not even a single figure now, and the doors of every shop are closed tightly?”

Qiu Yin’an glanced down and said, “Perhaps the New Year is approaching and it’s freezing outside, so everyone is hiding in the house to avoid the cold and watch the New Year.”

Wan Qiongju breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed Qiu Yin’an’s cold fingertips, “Same.”

The two of them didn’t think about it anymore. Qiu Yin’an cast a spell to activate the Cloud Riding Bell, and the spirit cloud slowly fell to the ground. The two of them walked along the stone steps to the mountain gate. However, before they saw the guard disciple coming towards them, they saw several corpses lying on the threshold of the gate.

The corpse was covered with frost and snow, and the bruises on the corpse under the thin snow could be faintly seen. It was obvious that these people had been dead for many days, and no one had collected the corpses.

    Something happened in Jiuling Mountain.

Qiu Yin’an’s heart skipped a beat. Dragging his trembling legs, he stepped over the ice corpses and rushed in, “Yao Ye—Yao Ye—”

The only thing that responded to him was the cold wind whistling past his ears, and the pile of stiff corpses in front of him.

Qiu Yin’an was confused at that time. He threw himself into the pile of corpses and began to pull the stacked bodies almost frantically.

The stiff corpses were close to each other, and most of them had been stuck together by the frost. Qiu Yin’an gritted his teeth and tried to break them apart. He turned over every face, and his heart fell from the cliff. He was obviously looking for Yao Ye, but he was afraid that he would find him.

Wan Qiongju immediately knelt down beside Qiu Yin’an and began to rummage through the corpses with him.

Their hands were numb from the cold corpses, and small cuts were made by the broken ice. In the end, Yao Ye and Yao Yu were not overturned.

Wan Qiongju lifted Qiu Yin’an from the cold ground and said, “Master, look up.”

Qiu Yin’an was in a hurry to enter the house just now, so Qiu Yin’an didn’t pay attention. Now he looked up and saw a line of scarlet words written in dazzling blood on the gray stone wall, “To flatten Jiuling Mountain, you can only raise your hand.”

The two of them got closer and saw three small letters carved like a dog under the line of blood, “Yu Jingyan.”

For a moment, Qiu Yin’an’s body was filled with an angry aura. His hand hanging by his side suddenly clenched tightly, and then he raised his hand and struck out at the three words of Yu Jingyan. Invisible waves of energy surged out, and with a bang, the stone wall in front of him exploded into tiny pieces of stone. Together with the bloody red letter, it also turned into flying red dust and fell among the rubble.

“Yu Jingyan, I will cut you into pieces.”

Wan Qiongju grabbed Qiu Yin’an’s arm and pulled him out of the ashes raised by the rubble. “Master, we haven’t found the bodies of Brother Xiaoye and Lord Yao yet, so don’t think the worst about the matter.”

“Xiao Wan, after my parents died, Yao Ye was the only relative in my heart. He cannot die.” Qiu Yin’an’s tears flowed down his scarlet eyes.

“He won’t die unless he dies.” Wan Qiongju felt his heart aching as he listened to Qiu Yin’an’s hoarse voice. He held Qiu Yin’an tightly in his arms, “He is so smart, he will definitely try his best to find a way for himself to survive.”

“Yes, he has a lot of evil ideas. It must be okay. He is blessed with good fortune, so he must be okay.” After Qiu Yin’an finished speaking, he couldn’t suppress the sobs in his throat, collapsed and fell into Wan Qiongju’s arms and cried loudly.

Qiu Yin’an’s mind was filled with those years spent with Yao Ye. In his impression, Yao Ye was always very bright and vivid. A person like him should not end up with his family exterminated and die. He should not have such a disaster in his life.

Qiu Yin’an didn’t recognize such an ending.

Wan Qiongju raised his hand to wipe Qiu Yin’an’s tears, but no matter how he wiped them, they couldn’t keep up with the speed of the tears rolling down. He could only hug the person in his arms, trying to relieve a little bit of his pain.

After a long time, Qiu Yin’an’s cries became muted. Wan Qiongju gradually calmed down due to the biting cold wind outside. He brushed Qiu Yin’an’s back and calmly analyzed: “Master, this must have been done by Chen Liang and Yu Jingyan. Since he knows the weight of brother Xiao Ye in your heart, he will not easily kill their siblings who are such a good bargaining chip.”

Qiu Yin’an held Wan Qiongju’s arm and withdrew from his embrace. The hatred in his eyes was fierce and clear. He wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes and held the Yunling in his hand tightly. “Let’s go back to Qingxuan Peak and go to Dongshan Palace to settle the score with Chen Liang and Yu Jingyan.”
