Chapter Index

That tone is way too satisfying!

    “You… bastard…”

Qiu Zhijie heard the words, his long lashes lowered as he looked at the young man’s slender back, but the stiff smile he’d worn moments ago curved up again. His large hand pressed against the youth’s back.

“Actually, you don’t want to separate either… right?”

The hesitation in that short sentence quickly vanished. He lowered his head, pressing the tip of his nose against the youth’s neck, inhaling the soft, warm scent: “It’s okay, I know. We won’t separate.”

The firm final words echoed in the empty, silent office.

    *

It was Qiu Zhijie’s day off. After breakfast, Kong Xunwen went to his streaming room as usual, and did the same after lunch.

Kong Xunwen knew he was avoiding the issue, but he truly didn’t know what to do, or even how to face Qiu Zhijie.

The fans in the streaming room, however, were delighted. First, the streaming time had increased, and second, Wenwen said he was planning a giveaway in the next few days.

But a few special fans were starting to worry.

…Is Wenwen a bit unhappy lately?

I actually feel that way too, but Wenwen always smiles during the stream, and he chats with us normally.

I’m just guessing, but… is Wenwen fighting with his partner?

Ahhh, finally someone said it! I’ve been worrying about this too!

Kong Xunwen was currently focused on painting. The viewers in the bullet chat were chatting freely, so they were quite unrestrained. As soon as these comments appeared, some said they were overthinking it, but more agreed.

Everyone shouldn’t jump to conclusions. His partner has been showing up recently, haven’t they been sweet?

But it really does feel a little strange.

Everything else is fine, but I mainly feel like Wenwen hasn’t been very happy lately.

Me too, it’s just a feeling. I’m really worried.

    Did something really happen?

    I don’t know.

Let’s not spread anxiety. If Wenwen sees these speculations, he might feel even worse.

Since CEO Qiu had been bringing his partner—Brother Kong—to work every day recently, everyone at the studio basically knew about them. Chang Ruixin was watching this stream and simultaneously giving a live broadcast to Shi Ke, who was currently on a date.

Seeing these bullet comments, Chang Ruixin instantly felt the satisfaction of being an insider, though the inability to speak out was a bit frustrating. After all, CEO Qiu had given a strict order.

But didn’t she have a ready-made confidant now?

Her urge to confide immediately poured out toward Shi Ke.

    Her fingers tapped rapidly.

[Look, look! So many people are worried about the relationship between CEO Qiu and Brother Kong. I really want to reply to them that their relationship couldn’t be better!]

[Speaking of which, watching them together these past few days, I’m getting addicted to shipping them.]

[I never expected CEO Qiu to be like this when he’s in love. But they really are a perfect match. Truly, outstanding people belong with outstanding people.]

[Brother Kong also said today that he’s doing a giveaway soon. I wonder if I can win. Watching the streams every day makes it hard not to fall in love with those paintings.]

[Hehe, CEO Qiu is here again. I always saw him pop up in the stream when we watched together before. It’s clearly a subtle way of showing affection.]

[But it’s strange that no one has ever dug up info on CEO Qiu. I think he secretly wants to be found out.]

[Knowing both their identities makes the ship even better, hahahahaha.]

[Ah, it’s time again. Look, look! Everyone said CEO Qiu is always like this—he calls Brother Kong for dinner right on time.]

    [Screenshot.jpg]

[I feel like I missed so much. I need to go back and reread the old sweet moments. Wait for my update!]

Meanwhile, at dinner time, Qiu Zhijie sat at the dining table, but the lights in the streaming room specially set up for the young man were still on.

Under the light, the man’s eyes darkened slightly.

He had planned to go out with his boyfriend today, or just take a walk, or even just stay home.

    He never expected this outcome.

He was outside, the youth was inside. It was a day off, yet it was harder to see him than when they were working.

He raised his hand and checked the time on his watch. Finally, he stood up, his tall figure casting a dark shadow across the dining table.

Kong Xunwen was doing the final detailing and was chatting with fans, a smile unconsciously playing on his lips.

    “Yes, I’m almost done painting.”

“Thank you. I hope the client is satisfied.”

“Mhm, it’s a little witch character. I used this style of expression because I didn’t want her image to be too flat…”

“Hahaha, it really does look like a comic—”

    Knock, knock.

A knock sounded. Though not particularly loud, it was exceptionally clear in the room.

Hahahaha, Wenwen forgot the time again! Someone’s coming to call him!

Ah, time to eat. That reminds me, hahahaha. Watching Wenwen’s stream every day has even made my meal times regular.

    That man is coming again.

Let’s see what slip-up he makes today.

I’m laughing. He intentionally gets into the frame every day. Okay, okay, we know he’s your partner.

Kong Xunwen froze for a moment, then his entire body stiffened. Only then did he react: “…Come in.”

His guilt was obvious and his voice was weak. The fans only thought it was because he missed dinner time, but he saw the man who opened the door at the same moment.

His gaze briefly touched that face before immediately dropping.

But that expression was already etched into his eyes: the lowered brows and corners of the mouth, the tightly drawn lips, those dark, deep pupils, and the heavy, low pressure that seemed to emanate from his back.

Kong Xunwen recalled his actions today. The man’s current reaction… was actually quite restrained.

If someone had made him wear that expression and exude that low pressure during work before, his sharp-tongued mouth would have already started spitting venom like a machine gun.

Kong Xunwen nervously looked at the streaming screen, forcing a stiff smile: “Um, well, let’s take another look at this painting and discuss it together…”

Hahahaha, is Wen Bao sensing trouble tonight?

Don’t be a coward, go for it! Let him know how amazing you are /dog head

No rush, no rush. We can put the painting aside for now.

That’s right, that’s right. I’m the client, and this commission isn’t that urgent, haha.

A strong, large hand appeared in front of the camera. Qiu Zhijie spoke to the camera, but his gaze was fixed on the young man who dared not look at him. He stared intently, a turbulent sea beneath the calm black surface.

His tone was gentle, yet concealed danger.

“Let’s not discuss it yet,” he said. “It’s dinner time. How about turning off the stream?”

The question was delivered with an undeniable authority.

God, that tone is so satisfying!

    That voice, that tone—who understands?!

Hey, you forgot about those hands, ahhhhh!

I feel like they’re about to do something big!

Chang Ruixin watched, her ears red. Her chat box with Shi Ke was filled with meaningless characters. In her heart: It’s not just the hands, both of them are so satisfying!!!

Kong Xunwen didn’t answer. His chin was gently lifted, and a phone—the one with the streaming equipment—was placed in front of him.

    “Turn it off now.”

He subconsciously looked up. Fortunately, the camera lens had already been blocked before he did so.

Kong Xunwen whispered, “I’ll end the stream right away.”

He used his other hand to pull the man’s hand down. “Let me say goodbye first.”

Qiu Zhijie looked down at him. Their eyes met, and the youth immediately looked away again. Qiu Zhijie smiled slightly, suddenly releasing his hand, which brought the darkened camera back into view.

The tips of the youth’s ears were flushed red. He stared at the camera, speaking with a distracted yet focused expression.

“Well, goodbye for now. See you tomorrow.”

Then he ended the stream. Kong Xunwen didn’t dwell on how the fans who exited the stream would discuss this, but he had a general idea.

Every time he checked the fan groups, the topic would instantly change whenever Qiu Zhijie was mentioned. As for what it changed into… Kong Xunwen certainly didn’t have the courage to look closely.

But that wasn’t the most important thing right now.

Kong Xunwen slowly stood up, avoiding looking at Qiu Zhijie.

Qiu Zhijie was in no hurry either. He didn’t rush him, just stood by the side, waiting for the youth and observing his movements and expressions.

    His face was completely calm.

It wasn’t until they were sitting at the dining table and finished eating that Kong Xunwen sat on the sofa, holding the after-dinner fruit Qiu Zhijie had prepared. He casually forked a cherry tomato and put it in his mouth, then suddenly frowned fiercely.

    Hiss—so sour.

But it was juicy and burst in his mouth, so it was still quite good.

As he thought this, he looked toward the kitchen where the man’s back had disappeared. Everything seemed normal inside. Could it be that this matter was just going to pass?

Kong Xunwen felt something was still wrong. His heart was uneasy, and he kept glancing at the kitchen doorway. Before he realized it, he had eaten all the fruit in his bowl.

When he saw the man emerge again, his body immediately tensed up.

But Qiu Zhijie did nothing, merely bending down to take the empty fruit bowl from his hands.

Kong Xunwen watched him walk back into the kitchen.

Could it be… that this matter really was over?

After all, he had said those things before. A cold war now? Maybe Qiu Zhijie didn’t want to bother with him anymore.

Thinking this, Kong Xunwen pursed his lips and pinched his fingertips, preparing to get up and wash up.

However, just a few seconds after he left the sofa, before he was fully standing, he felt a burning warmth around his waist and under his knees, followed by a sensation of being lifted.

When he realized what was happening, Qiu Zhijie’s familiar, indifferent face appeared before him. Kong Xunwen was held suspended, his heart also suspended, and his hands tightly wrapped around the man, not daring to let go in the slightest.

It was like clinging to his only lifeline.

Only now did Qiu Zhijie’s usually indifferent, emotionless face reveal a hint of true feeling. Suppressed anger and frustration looked utterly incongruous on that face.

Kong Xunwen even felt that such an expression was fundamentally incompatible with Qiu Zhijie.

But the person who made him look like this… was himself.

    He knew this clearly.

    But why?

Was it because he didn’t eat on time? Or the things he said before?

Missing a meal shouldn’t be this serious, and why did the previous words only explode today?

    He didn’t understand.

Kong Xunwen could only wait quietly for Qiu Zhijie’s next move, like a prisoner awaiting judgment.

Qiu Zhijie didn’t say a word. He simply carried the youth into the bathroom in the bedroom. There was a bathtub inside, which had been filled with water at some point. There was also a light blue bath bomb, and the fresh scent of sea salt filled the entire bathroom.

Kong Xunwen tried to move on his own, but the slightest attempt was met with a direct stare from Qiu Zhijie. In the end, he allowed Qiu Zhijie to handle him like a doll, preparing him and placing him into the tub.

The warm, slightly hot water enveloped his body. Kong Xunwen didn’t look at the person behind him, but he heard the sounds of clothes being removed and the shower running. Water dripped steadily. He only stared at the colorful bubbles in front of him.

The sound of running water soon stopped, and the warmth of another body pressed against his back.

The colorful bubbles in front of him were carried away by the overflowing water. Some of the light blue foam also spilled out, and the dripping sound started again.

A body wrapped around him from behind.
