Chapter Index

“…After I finish drawing, everyone can take a look. Today we’re doing digital painting, and I’ll send the image to those who win the raffle later.”

As Kong Xunwen spoke, he took out his tablet and displayed it in front of the camera. “Let everyone choose the photo. I saved some pictures earlier that I wanted to use for practice.”

For a moment, some skepticism flashed across the comments.

Ah, I just checked, he wasn’t doing digital painting before. Traditional painting and digital painting are very different. I hope the final result isn’t terrible…

Exactly, they are completely different things. He’s too confident.

I love watching segments where people embarrass themselves.

Don’t say that. His face is still good-looking.

But these comments were quickly suppressed by the fans’ defenses.

Looking forward to it! I believe Wenwen can do it.

Starting to criticize before he even begins? That’s such a downer.

Seriously. And Wenwen said he’s drawing an example picture now. Can’t you wait a little?

I hope you don’t come back later and try to snatch our raffle chances.

Kong Xunwen glanced at the comments and smiled, choosing not to respond directly. His fans seemed very confident, and he couldn’t let them down.

“Alright, everyone, which picture do you like?”

The pictures on the tablet were actually saved when he was still at the studio. It was easier to practice with the tablet back then. He had forgotten what pictures were still inside. Now, opening the album, he lowered his head to look through them with everyone.

Hmm, as expected, no major issues.

They were all pictures he had saved because he found them attractive, along with some landscape photos and close-ups he had taken himself.

Wow, so many! But the small images are hard to see. Can you zoom in so we can choose?

A stream of comments agreed. Kong Xunwen, who was constantly monitoring the comments, naturally agreed. He nodded and tapped open the first picture, then began swiping through them one by one.

He skipped photos without people, explaining, “Today I’m mainly drawing portraits. We can try other things later if there’s a chance.”

Please keep doing portraits in the future! My OC is waiting for Wenwen!

Hehe, I also want to see a handsome guy draw a handsome guy or a beautiful woman.

Wow, wow, wow! Wenwen and I have such similar taste! These are all my favorite types!

The images on the screen scrolled past: brown curly hair, freckles on the cheeks, a lively, slightly roguish smile; the next was a slicked-back hairstyle, a black-haired man whose face was wet, water droplets clearly visible, his pose full of tension; then a long-haired woman in denim, her eyes full of wild ambition, looking slightly down…

The brightness of the phone screen reflected on Qiu Zhijie’s face. He watched the faces scroll by with apparent calmness, only a slight chill gathering in his eyes.

After a long moment, he closed his eyes and looked down.

He hadn’t realized before—was he such a… despicable person? To feel uncomfortable over such a trivial matter.

Especially when he heard that these were all pictures the young man had carefully selected one by one.

Adjusting his mood, the man raised his head again, covering his mouth with one hand, his thumb pressing heavily against the corner of his lip. His pupils followed the movement of the photos.

Until his gaze landed on a familiar face.

Qiu Zhijie’s eyes widened slightly. This was…

The face he saw every day when he stood in front of the mirror—it was him!

Kong Xunwen hadn’t noticed anything amiss. He only took his eyes off the comments and looked down at the tablet screen in his hand when he swiped to the next photo.

The background showed a floor-to-ceiling window. Outside, the sky was heavy, overcast with dark clouds, yet the boundary where it met the nearby tall buildings was bright white. The stark contrast between gray and white made the bright area almost dazzling.

Inside the floor-to-ceiling window, still part of the background, was an office desk piled with items. The protagonist of the photo stood in front of the desk.

He was walking toward the right side of the camera, one foot extended forward. His slightly long, shoulder-length black hair lifted with the movement. The ruby ear clip on his earlobe was dazzling under the indoor light. The man, facing the camera, lifted his coat with one hand, placing it at his waist to adjust his white belt, the tail of his black coat flying up.

Seemingly noticing the camera’s presence, the man turned his head to look. His pitch-black eyes stared directly at the person taking the photo. There was light on his earlobe and also on his face, but it was overhead lighting, highlighting his excellent bone structure.

The image was full of dynamism. Those eyes looking straight ahead seemed to capture everyone viewing the photo. With a storm brewing behind him, the man was full of confidence, like a leader welcoming a challenge, striding forward with composure.

It was a beautiful photo. Kong Xunwen had thought so when he took it. He had originally planned to post it in the gossip group, but somehow forgot, and the photo was later transferred to the tablet.

As for what he was thinking at the time…

The current Kong Xunwen didn’t know, only remembering that he had comforted himself, saying that the photo was simply very beautiful and he intended to use it for practice.

The comments had been discussing the previous pictures, which were mostly found online and recognizable, or at least the people in them were known.

Only this one photo first stunned viewers with its beauty, then sparked confusion—how could such a stunning photo not be recognized by anyone?

Who is it? Who is it? This photo feels like it could be legendary.

It’s too beautiful! And the model is absolutely gorgeous.

Has no one recognized him yet?

… (Raises hand cautiously) I think I know who this is, but as far as I know, that person has never taken this photo.

    So who exactly is this?

I think I recognize him too.

This isn’t a model. This is a designer. His themed fashion shows have been particularly stunning these past few years. I remember he even trended on a hot search the year before last.

    Isn’t this Qiu Zhijie?

That name sounds a bit… familiar?

It’s the Zhijie Studio! It belongs to him.

And that cliff fashion show, and the one by the waterfall. But my favorite is the retro theme in the castle. It was absolutely stunning. I once dreamed he was planning my wedding.

I know this one, but the theme wasn’t the cliff, hahahahaha.

The sister above is too cute, hahahahaha. But seriously, every time I scroll through show compilations, I see his shows.

??? I don’t follow this, but he’s so handsome! And this photo is gorgeous. Wenwen, draw this one!

    Agreed, agreed! This one!

Indeed. I’m a fan of Qiu Zhijie. Please share the picture!

Me too! I want it as a wallpaper. The atmosphere is incredible.

I’m also a fan. Just curious, where did this picture come from?

Kong Xunwen was hesitating about how to answer when the door to the live stream room suddenly opened. Looking up, it was indeed Qiu Zhijie.

He must have been watching his live stream again.

Kong Xunwen guessed it the moment he saw the man’s face, which, despite being expressionless, radiated pleasure. It was true.

Qiu Zhijie mouthed, “Draw me.” He pointed to himself and made a drawing motion.

Kong Xunwen didn’t look at him much or reply. He was still live streaming. He just raised his hand, out of view of the camera, and waved him away.

The door closed softly, but Qiu Zhijie didn’t leave. He stood by the door and reopened the live stream. The screen of the young man’s tablet was still paused on his photo. Unlike Kong Xunwen, he remembered this day.

He also remembered this photo—of course, he hadn’t seen the result then, only knowing the young man had taken a picture of him. He just hadn’t known the final result would be so beautiful.

    A smile curved his lips.

In the live stream, Kong Xunwen saw the comments were now filled with requests to draw this picture. He didn’t deliberately avoid it, as that would only make him look guilty. He nodded, ignoring the brief interruption. “Then we’ll do this one. It might take a little more time, though, as it would be better to include the background as well.”

We want the picture! We want the picture! We want the picture!

So where is this photo from? Host, if you tell us, we can save it ourselves.

Many people were asking this. Kong Xunwen couldn’t ignore them, so he offered a brief explanation. “I took this accidentally when I was at the studio. It wasn’t saved from anywhere else. I’ll upload it along with my finished drawing after the broadcast.”

Having worked at Zhijie Studio wasn’t anything strange. Kong Xunwen didn’t try to mislead anyone and simply told the truth, though without going into specific details.

!!! So, Host, you used to be at Zhijie Studio? Am I hearing that right?

What’s so special about Zhijie Studio? Is it famous?

It’s absolutely amazing! It’s the place we all dream of. Go look it up, and you’ll see.

Kong Xunwen quickly pulled the topic back. “It was just a previous work experience. Anyway, I’m starting now.”

Upstairs, Qiu Zhijie, listening to the young man’s words, paused in his work. He lowered his eyes for a moment, his gaze like water.

Hearing that the drawing was about to begin, he sped up his work process, quickly focusing on the live stream in the small window on his computer.

This was the first time he was watching the young man draw him. Although he had been recording the live stream, watching it live was still better.

Support! Support! The important thing now is to watch Wenwen draw. Stop talking about irrelevant things.

Exactly! If you want to talk, wait until the chat session later. Although I really want to know, the most important thing now is to watch Wenwen draw! I’m waiting for the raffle!

Go, go! Wenwen, you don’t need to mind us. Just start.

We’re all waiting for Wenwen’s raffle later.

Kong Xunwen’s eyes curved slightly at this. He nodded, adjusted the streaming equipment so the tablet screen was visible, and then picked up the tablet. He minimized the photo and placed it to one side, opened his drawing software, and skillfully set the parameters.

Hahahahaha, this angle! Only Wenwen could pull this off.

I just saw Wenwen’s previous drawings!!! Super beautiful!

Sister, you have sharp eyes. I only saw a blur.

Hehe, I saw it too! Super beautiful! I wish we could draw now. I can’t wait!

What’s the point of seeing it for just a second? It’s too early to make big claims.

Let’s wait until Wenwen finishes drawing before we say anything.

Maybe he’s just tracing and color-picking directly. It might look okay small, but terrible when enlarged.

Soon, a new canvas was created. Kong Xunwen selected his familiar brush and began laying down color, starting with the background, then moving to the figure in the foreground. The brush size was large at this point. He frequently selected colors, always choosing directly from the color palette. Sometimes he needed minor adjustments, but he never color-picked from the photo.

The colors would differ slightly from the picture, but after just a few strokes, viewers could tell what he was drawing, and it bore a strong resemblance to the original image.

Kong Xunwen’s digital painting style leaned toward impasto. He had fallen in love with this style when he first saw it and had been practicing ever since. He was highly skilled now and didn’t need to sketch first.

Wow, wow, wow! Just these few strokes show he knows how to draw!

I was just about to ask for the brush, but then I realized it’s not the brush that matters. (Crying)

The weather was nice today, and the camera showed good lighting, making the young man focused on drawing look particularly handsome. His long, lowered lashes and the slightly downward angle, chosen to capture the tablet screen, were also beautiful, despite being a somewhat distorted perspective.

Upstairs, the man watching the live stream, like many others, had gentle eyes. He watched the young man on the screen with appreciation. The warm sunlight streamed in through the window, making him seem like a completely different person from the one in the photo.
