His Venomous Former Boss Chased Him And Beat Him Fiercely Chapter 30
byDrunk, Lost in Thought
Kong Xunwen blinked and followed Qiu Zhijie, who had finished speaking and was already moving the dishes from the table directly onto the stone table under the small pavilion.
It was drizzling. They both walked along the path that connected to the long corridor outside, eventually reaching the pavilion. To avoid the splashing rain, they sat together on the side closest to the wall, where the food was also placed.
Kong Xunwen looked closely at the table of relatively rich dishes. More importantly, he took in the surrounding scenery. The light overhead was on, but since it hadn’t been replaced, it wasn’t overly bright, though it provided sufficient illumination.
The branches of the pomegranate tree nearby reached into the space, and the small red flower at the tip was brightly lit. The rain falling from the eaves and outside was visible in the lamplight, appearing like faintly glowing silver threads.
A gentle breeze carried the fresh scent of rain and trees past his nose. Kong Xunwen suddenly stood up. Qiu Zhijie, confused, followed him back into the living room.
Kong Xunwen then produced a jar of wine from seemingly nowhere.
The words Qiu Zhijie was about to say immediately changed: “This is…”
“Can you not drink?” Kong Xunwen turned to look at the man, a hint of regret in his expression, and a reluctant glance at the jar in his hands.
It wouldn’t be as fun if he drank alone.
Qiu Zhijie immediately shook his head, finding the young man’s demeanor quite endearing. “No, I can drink.”
“But given your health, is drinking alright?”
Seeing the young man instantly cheer up, turn around, and head to the kitchen with the jar, stuffing two wine cups into his hands, Qiu Zhijie still asked with some concern.
Kong Xunwen continued striding forward, shaking his head. “The doctor said there are no dietary restrictions, I just need to pay attention to my overall health.”
“I just treat it as if it doesn’t exist, anyway.”
“Besides, my teacher brought this back. Drinking a moderate amount is actually good for the body.”
Holding the cups, Qiu Zhijie lowered his head and quickly checked his phone again for the information he had consulted with the relevant doctor. After confirming that there were indeed no such restrictions, he followed along.
“But you still can’t drink too much.”
Kong Xunwen immediately stopped, turned around, frowned, and slightly raised his chin, looking quite displeased. “I know what I’m doing.”
Qiu Zhijie had no choice but to nod and refrain from saying any more annoying things.
Only then did Kong Xunwen continue forward, satisfied.
They sat down. Just as Qiu Zhijie was about to open the wine jar, Kong Xunwen stopped him.
The young man looked completely serious. Although he hadn’t had any wine yet, his every move suggested he was already tipsy, and his mood seemed somewhat elevated.
Qiu Zhijie found it both cute and a little strange.
“We drink after dinner.” That’s what his parents always did.
Qiu Zhijie didn’t know why, but he didn’t argue, simply nodding.
After dinner, Kong Xunwen’s eyes were shining. Qiu Zhijie got up to clear the empty bowls, plates, and chopsticks. When he returned, the wine jar was open, and the liquid in the two cups shimmered brightly.
Kong Xunwen scooted over slightly, watching Qiu Zhijie sit down.
“Drink.” After saying the single word, Kong Xunwen took a sip first. He had actually tasted some of this wine earlier in the afternoon while chatting with his teacher, and it tasted excellent.
The mellow wine slid down his throat. Kong Xunwen narrowed his eyes slightly, watching the glowing rain threads in front of him. Propping his head up, he suddenly spoke, “You came so suddenly today.”
Qiu Zhijie held his liquor well and also took a sip, but his attention was entirely focused on the young man beside him. He didn’t taste much of the wine, feeling it was a bit of a waste, so he set the cup down. Hearing the strange comment, he asked, “Why bring that up all of a sudden?”
Kong Xunwen had already turned his head, frowning in dissatisfaction at Qiu Zhijie’s untouched cup. “Why aren’t you drinking?”
Qiu Zhijie scrutinized Kong Xunwen. “Are you… drunk?”
Kong Xunwen was still conscious, but his mouth was a little hard to control. He pressed his head to regain some clarity, then shook his head. “I’m alright.”
He looked at the pomegranate flower reaching in from the side. “The pomegranate is blooming.”
Qiu Zhijie had already sealed the wine jar.
Kong Xunwen stared at the flower for a while, then suddenly recalled a phrase and muttered it aloud: “For a person, being happy is the most important thing…”
Qiu Zhijie hadn’t heard clearly and pressed him, “What?”
Kong Xunwen seemed to have his attention drawn by the question. Propping his head, he turned around. His eyes were slightly watery and shimmering. In the dim light, a faint flush spread at the corners of his eyes.
“What?” He repeated Qiu Zhijie’s question, but his mind was still echoing the phrase he had just murmured.
The man in front of him looked very confused, his eyes practically brimming with questions. He was leaning slightly forward, frowning as he looked at him.
As he leaned closer, the light overhead was blocked by his brow bone, casting shadows over his eyes. Only a faint glow in his pupils showed that he was looking at him.
His gaze followed the man’s more specific inquiry downward. Qiu Zhijie’s lips were very well-shaped, the lower lip full. The wine had left a sheen of moisture on them, making them look…
Especially kissable. He wanted to bite them.
Kong Xunwen’s mind was currently operating on a single track. Since he thought it, and they were so close, he simply leaned forward.
Their breaths were palpable. Kong Xunwen looked down and noticed a very faint mole on the bridge of the man’s nose.
The man didn’t pull away, but his breathing paused.
Kong Xunwen tilted his head to avoid the tip of the man’s nose, not forgetting his target. He pressed his chin down, his lips touching the soft, slightly cool curve. He swallowed, then slightly parted his lips and bit down.
He bit gently. His forehead felt a little itchy. Kong Xunwen raised his slightly hazy eyes and met the man’s eyes, hidden in the shadows.
They were so close that he could feel his own eyelashes brush against the man’s under-eye area when he blinked, meeting some resistance. He could also feel the man’s eyelashes sweep across his own eyelids, which tickled.
Those eyes were deep and profound. The faint glow from before seemed to be swallowed up within them. Kong Xunwen couldn’t distinguish the emotion, but a belated sense of fear washed over him. He was still biting the lip but instinctively pressed down slightly.
He quickly let go, instinctively wanting to pull back, but he only managed to retreat a few centimeters. The back of his neck, along with his spine, was gripped. That spot suddenly became scalding, hot and itchy, making him want to flee.
He couldn’t help but shrink his shoulders, only to be soothed by a gentle rub.
The young man lightly bit his jaw and raised his head to dodge, which ironically perfectly aligned with the man’s height.
He was gently pressed forward. The force wasn’t heavy, but it was undeniable.
Until their lips met again.
“What does this mean?” Their lips parted and rubbed against each other. Kong Xunwen’s ears were ringing. The husky voice that entered his ears sounded as if filtered through a layer of mist.
But before he could answer, the man pressed down heavily.
His chin was also subtly lifted by fingers at some point, leaving him nowhere to escape.
The light had somehow dimmed further. In the area shrouded by darkness, the slender young man leaned toward the tall man, his back straight as if in an offering. The man lowered his head slightly, one hand cupping the back of the young man’s neck and the upper spine, his pulse pressing against the spinal column. The index finger and thumb of his other hand held the young man’s chin, tilting it up slightly.
The young man’s eyes were already hazy, slightly narrowed. A fair hand rested on the man’s arm, knuckles flushed red, fingertips white from exertion. His other hand was placed on the side of the man’s neck, near the shoulder, seeming to push away yet also inviting.
His breath was hot, and Kong Xunwen’s brain was heating up too. He couldn’t think of anything. At the very beginning, their teeth had clacked together, but later, their tongues intertwined. The sensitive upper palate was gently teased. The wet sounds escaping as their lips and tongues met drowned out the rain, invading his ear canals and filling his entire mind.
He couldn’t remember why things had turned out this way, only that his fingertips occasionally tightened with the sensation.
After an unknown amount of time, a cool breeze briefly recalled Kong Xunwen’s consciousness. He pushed lightly, and Qiu Zhijie yielded to the force, pulling back slightly, breathing softly. Yet, his eyes remained fixed on his prey like a hyena.
Kong Xunwen turned his head, breathing rapidly. He pursed his lips. The sensation seemed to linger in his oral cavity. He looked away, lost in thought, his face flushed on one side.
He still hadn’t moved away, maintaining the posture, until a breath quietly approached again.
His lips and nose were once again engulfed by the scorching temperature. He only managed a soft moan before being silenced.
When he was released again, Kong Xunwen closed his eyes. The hand that had pushed the man away now pulled him back with force.
He leaned forward slightly, relaxing, pressing his forehead against the man’s shoulder. A pair of arms wrapped around his back, practically enveloping him.
His earlobe was lightly touched, and the young man involuntarily shivered.
Qiu Zhijie looked down, seeing only the top of the young man’s head and his trembling shoulders. His heart softened, like a feather landing.
A massive sense of unease accompanied the rush of satisfaction.
He didn’t know what this meant.
He paused. The young man seemed tired. He adjusted his posture, intending to lift the young man, when a muffled voice came from his ear: “I’m very sober.” His voice was also hoarse.
Qiu Zhijie froze, his pupils slightly dilated. His Adam’s apple bobbed. “What do you mean?”
Kong Xunwen didn’t hear clearly. His consciousness was sinking back into chaos. He closed his eyes and didn’t answer, mumbling, “So sleepy.”
Qiu Zhijie was no longer in a hurry for an answer. He supported the young man’s back with one hand and wrapped the other around his waist, asking softly, “Can you walk?”
With the young man’s head buried in his neck, Qiu Zhijie simply scooped him up in a bridal carry, his arms tensing.
Suddenly suspended in the air, Kong Xunwen’s eyes snapped open. He quickly wrapped his arms around the man’s shoulders and patted him. “Put me down now!”
Qiu Zhijie chuckled. “I can carry you.”
He was slapped a few more times on the shoulder. “This isn’t about whether you can carry me! Put me down immediately!”
He had no choice but to put him down, but the young man’s legs were weak. In the end, Qiu Zhijie had to half-support him up the stairs.
Kong Xunwen lay on the bed. Qiu Zhijie was a little worried about him. He stroked the young man’s hair, pinched his earlobe, and asked, “Can you take a shower by yourself?”
The young man rolled over to avoid him, not speaking, only his earlobes bright red.
“Then wait for me to finish tidying up and come back up before you go in.”
Still no response.
“Okay?” Qiu Zhijie knew Kong Xunwen was listening.
After several more prompts, Kong Xunwen raised his hand to cover his ears and nodded haphazardly.
The man left. Kong Xunwen opened his eyes. This was Qiu Zhijie’s room. He didn’t know why he had gone to the trouble of dragging him up here when his own room was downstairs.
The moment of clarity had passed, and Kong Xunwen couldn’t sleep. He looked around. He hadn’t visited since Qiu Zhijie moved in. Now, at a glance, the previously empty and lifeless room was filled with the man’s presence.
Curious, he opened the door and looked around. Qiu Zhijie had very few belongings. He mainly stayed upstairs at night, so only the room showed many signs of his presence.
Returning to the room, he zoned out.
Footsteps sounded on the stairs, signaling the man’s return. Kong Xunwen immediately snapped back to attention, but ultimately maintained his position.
