    Livestream—Is the Confession a Dare?

—As for the voice message he hadn’t listened to.

He had the right to temporarily not reply, the right to escape.

    As the object of affection.

    *

Kong Xunwen finished eating and returned to the dedicated streaming room. It had already been tidied up neatly. He set up his easel, laid out the paper, arranged the streaming equipment, and then opened the livestream.

He started painting, and this time, it was indeed very smooth. Since he had picked honeysuckle today, he simply brought the entire basket of honeysuckle over and placed it next to the easel. The streaming equipment captured the basket as well.

He began painting, focusing on the basket of honeysuckle buds.

However, what he was painting wasn’t the basket itself, but the image in his mind inspired by the honeysuckle.

Xiaoxiao loved scrolling through livestreams. Since she was very interested in painting, she always stopped to watch whenever she came across this type of stream.

Sometimes, she could even learn things or find hidden gem streamers in rooms with few viewers.

None of the streamers she followed were live today, mainly because she was watching earlier than usual; she typically watched after getting home from work.

She scrolled through streams feeling a bit bored. Many of them seemed to follow similar routines, and she didn’t even want to look, until her finger slipped again.

A vibrant green caught her eye. This green didn’t actually take up much of the screen, but the color was exceptionally beautiful. The patch of green bamboo outside the window looked so vivid that she felt as if she could smell it, and her eyes felt instantly soothed.

Next, dominating more of the screen, were the easel, the figure in front of it, the basket of what looked like flower buds beside the easel, and the canvas itself.

It was the first time Xiaoxiao had seen such a unique angle—a combination of high and low shots that encompassed the young man in front of the easel, the image on the paper, the basket, and the bamboo forest outside the window, all in sharp focus.

The young man only showed his back, but his proportions suggested he was handsome.

She couldn’t help but look curiously at the scene gradually taking shape under his brush on the paper.

It was just a sketch, but every stroke seemed to have its own rhythm and was perfectly placed. The unfinished details were automatically filled in by the brain; one look and you knew what he was painting, making the finished work even more anticipated.

Xiaoxiao glanced at the top left corner. The viewer count, which had been just one, increased by another as she watched.

A bullet comment popped up below.

[Is anyone here? Streamer, your painting is so beautiful.]

    Xiaoxiao quickly replied: [Yes, yes!]

[But the streamer seems to be alone, painting so seriously.]

The two chatted like this. Later, more people gradually joined, some joining the conversation. Xiaoxiao even helped the streamer reply to messages asking why he wasn’t speaking.

By the time Kong Xunwen remembered he was streaming, it was already past ten in the evening. The painting on the paper was mostly complete, though it still needed more time to refine some details.

He turned his head to look at the streaming equipment, mentally preparing himself.

Last time, he had actively welcomed people in the bullet comments. Today, he hadn’t even glanced at them. Who would stay in such a boring livestream?

There should be no one left.

He walked toward the equipment, completely unaware that his turn and walk forward had exposed his entire face to the livestream.

Xiaoxiao had been in this stream on and off for a long time, probably several hours in total. The people she chatted with came and went, and she even visited other streams she followed in between.

But the streamer, named Wen, hadn’t stopped streaming. It had been eight hours straight, including the entire afternoon, and she hadn’t seen him leave the room once while she was there.

She couldn’t help but wonder when he would finally stop.

Watching the image on the paper gradually become richer, she was also reluctant to leave. Every time she thought the painting was finished, the streamer would add another stroke that somehow made the picture even more stunning.

It wasn’t until he put down his brush and stood up that Xiaoxiao snapped out of it, stopping her chat with the others in the bullet comments.

Her mood was quite complicated at the moment. She was curious about what the streamer looked like, hoping he was decent-looking, but also hoping he wouldn’t show his face, letting that good-looking back view suffice.

But she couldn’t choose. The next moment, the young man turned his head.

    Xiaoxiao’s heart settled.

    Thank goodness, he was handsome.

And not just handsome—he was a super handsome guy.

The young man’s hair was a bit long, clipped to one side with a small, black barrette, revealing beautiful eyes and brows that were both cool and sharp. His slender eyebrows were slightly raised, his eyes long, his lashes very long, and his pupils were light-colored. His lips were somewhat full, softening the sharpness of his face.

Perhaps due to recent lack of rest, there was a shadow under his eyes, giving him a touch of melancholy.

The moment this face appeared on the stream, the bullet comments seamlessly transitioned from praising his painting skills to complimenting Kong Xunwen himself.

Unaware of the many people watching behind the screen, Kong Xunwen continued to approach the camera, reaching up to take down the high-mounted equipment.

The screen in the livestream shook, finally settling on an upward angle, looking past the young man’s hand to his jawline, the tip of his nose, and his brow bone.

[…How can he look good even from this angle?]

[Alright, alright, now I know this isn’t an effect or a beauty filter.]

Kong Xunwen carried the equipment around, searching for his phone. He muttered, “Where’s my phone?”

[Hahahaha, I found something we have in common. I always lose my phone too, hahahaha.]

He finally found his phone next to the easel. Standing for a moment made him feel a little tired, so Kong Xunwen sat down, holding the equipment in one hand and the phone in the other.

He placed the equipment beside him.

[Does the streamer not know people are watching him? At first, I thought he was just super relaxed.]

[Hahahaha, why not a different kind of relaxed?]

[He changed the angle again. Showing just this little bit isn’t enough, ahhh!]

    [But he’s still so good-looking.]

[Streamer, look at the bullet comments, ahhhhh!]

When he unlocked his phone, the first thing that caught his eye was still the unlistened voice message. This time, Kong Xunwen didn’t hesitate and tapped it directly.

    The voice message played.

The deep, pleasant voice was perfect for reciting love poems, especially since it carried naturally expressed emotion.

“I will come again tomorrow. Perhaps you are confused, but my confession was definitely not on a whim…” He paused, and his voice carried a hint of embarrassment.

“I thought I had shown some signs before, but you…” He paused again. “You seem to have been scared by me.”

Kong Xunwen was momentarily blank after listening.

    Shown some signs before?

He said he had shown some signs before?! What signs? The signs of a secret admirer?

Was he implying that his professional, business-like attitude and behavior were all… signs?

    It was simply… unbelievable.

Kong Xunwen felt that the thoughts he thought he had sorted out were thrown into confusion again. He searched all his memories, but couldn’t find any indication of such feelings from this person when he was CEO Qiu.

Not to mention during work hours, even after work, they hadn’t contacted each other. If they did occasionally communicate, it was only because of the design drafts Kong Xunwen submitted.

But other intern designers received the same treatment!

    He was indeed scared.

So when he prepared to reply, he accidentally hit the voice message button, hesitated for a few seconds, and cautiously asked: “…A dare?”

The few seconds of voice message zipped across and was sent. Kong Xunwen stared at the sent voice message bar, agonizing. Should he recall it? But he genuinely felt that Qiu Zhijie confessing to him was too unreal.

While he was agonizing, Kong Xunwen received Qiu Zhijie’s reply.

    CEO Qiu: .Yes

He breathed a sigh of relief. Although he didn’t know why he felt a little regretful, Kong Xunwen automatically ignored it.

Thank goodness. After all, he wasn’t good at handling such matters. Not having to deal with it was best.

He prepared to type: Then afte…

…r this, don’t contact me if there’s nothing important.

But he saw the message opposite him quickly recalled. Another message was sent immediately, clearly typed in a panic.

CEO Qiu: No no, it was a typo.

CEO Qiu: I sent the wrong thing. I meant to send “No.”

CEO Qiu: Don’t misunderstand, I really like you.

Finally, he sent another voice message directly.

Kong Xunwen pursed his lips and clicked on the voice message.

The familiar voice, which he usually heard with a serious tone, was only somewhat similar to the previous one, responding with great solemnity.

“I didn’t confess to you because of a dare. I was a bit rushed just now and made a typo. Don’t misunderstand, I really… like, I really like you.”

Kong Xunwen’s expression went blank for a moment. Even so, why did he keep repeating the confession?

He subconsciously turned off his phone screen.

His gaze accidentally fell on the equipment beside him, reminding him of what he was supposed to be doing.

I should turn off the stream first.

Thinking this, Kong Xunwen was completely unaware that everything he had just done had been fully broadcasted, and seen by all the viewers who had been attracted by the painting and the handsome guy.

It wasn’t until he temporarily ignored the constant messages from Qiu Zhijie and opened the streaming app.

The bullet comments scrolled up bit by bit. Although the number of people in the stream wasn’t particularly large, only 237, they were very active, with many people sending comments.

[OMG, OMG, what was that? The voice is so nice, but a confession? I feel like I caught the main point.]

[Hahahaha, why would he reply like that? A dare, hahahaha, he was really scared.]

[I’m shipping them, I’m shipping them!]

[? Is this a coincidence? Is it really not a script?]

[I’d watch it even if it was a script! You know what? He’s putting effort into this for me!]

[But the person on the other side sounds really serious. It shouldn’t be that unbelievable, right? If the streamer were next to me, I’d confess every day, okay?]

[Hahahaha, after the confession, the streamer’s ears turned red. I’m shipping them again.]

Kong Xunwen blinked in disbelief, his eyes widening slightly. What… what was this?

[Hello, handsome streamer. You finally noticed us!]

[Hahaha, did you think no one was watching before, so you had no fear?]

[He’s scared again, hahahaha, so cute.]

[Ooh, now his face is red too!]

Kong Xunwen subconsciously raised his hand to touch his cheek, but quickly lowered it. Wouldn’t that be confirming the suspicion?

“I’ll stop streaming here for today. I’m turning off the stream. See you tomorrow—” Kong Xunwen said, preparing to close the stream.

His gaze suddenly fixed on a comment.

[Huh? Aren’t you going to ask for follows? Will you stream again later?]

“…If you’re interested, you can follow me. I will stream again tomorrow.” Remembering why he was streaming, Kong Xunwen entered his professional mode and explained in more detail: “Tomorrow will still be refinement work. The refinement should take a few more days. If you want to see anything, you can leave a comment. I will post a photo of this half-finished work later.”

    [Huh? Not shy anymore?]

[Hahaha, why does it sound like a work report when he says that?]

[Okay, okay, see you tomorrow. Be sure to tell us all about the dare then!]

[See you tomorrow, see you tomorrow. Request the same as above.]

Kong Xunwen hurriedly said goodbye and quickly closed the livestream.
