    Chapter 123: Aftermath

Some of the tombstones in the graveyard were hidden in the darkness, while others were illuminated by the firelight, as if dividing the world into yin and yang.

In the middle of that boundary, Jiao Bai was trapped in Qi Yi Liao’s arms, the hollow of his collarbone stained with blood dripping from his neck, and Qi Yi Liao’s tears.

The two liquids merged into one, entwining and burying themselves in Jiao Bai’s collar, only to be kissed away and plundered by soft lips and tongue.

The Barrier Card burned and curled, turning to ashes and countless specks of light, gradually dissipating.

Jiao Bai’s vision blurred, and his hands, which had been wrapped around Qi Yi Liao’s shoulders and back, slid down, and he fainted on the spot.

The aftermath of that night was that all the surveillance cameras at Lan Mo Manor were turned off, a fire broke out in the graveyard, destroying a coffin.

Except for Zhang Zhen, who was asleep after taking his medication, all the bodyguards at Lan Mo Manor were ordered to go out and head to several towns in West City.

Before they set off, they learned from Master Qi that Bai Shao was not dead.

The one in the coffin in the backyard was not him, but a fake.

Chen Wang, a medical student, revealed that he had seen Bai Shao in the countryside during the summer vacation.

Compared to a rotting corpse and a cold tombstone, the “Substituting a Civet Cat for a Prince” scheme was heartwarming, and the bodyguards got into the car with flushed faces. They were summoned back a day later and saw Bai Shao, who had been personally retrieved by Master Qi.

Sitting between Master Qi and Brother Zhen, alive, real, and smiling to reveal his little tiger teeth.

The harsh winter at Lan Mo Manor had ended.

Although people in the circle knew that Chairman Qi was widowed, his hair had turned a lot whiter, and he had exposed himself on talk shows, doing all sorts of things that didn’t fit his previous style, they knew that he had been sending people to search and inquire about something all year long, obviously there were other secrets involved.

So when they received the news of Qi family’s happiness, their first reaction was that the young man was indeed not dead.

As for the outsiders who knew nothing, the Qi family wanted them to see what they saw, and watch the fun.

As for Zhang Zhen, who had personally handled his younger brother’s body, he accepted it more easily than he thought.

There were two reasons for this phenomenon: first, long-term medication made his brain more sluggish as his emotions became more agitated; second, when his brother had just died, his third brother said that the person was not dead, and had always insisted on searching and never gave up on this point, burying a factor in his worldview, preventing him from being too confused.

His brother was really alive and back, not an illusion, and that was enough.

And the medical team that had initially examined the corpse, all the elites who were paid by the Qi Corporation, immediately launched an internal investigation after learning that last year’s deceased was alive.

The team wanted to find out who the mole was, which force had bribed them to falsify the autopsy report, but they found nothing and could only wait for the Qi family to be held accountable. They waited day after day, and slowly put their worries behind them. After all, they were very busy and didn’t have much time to be afraid.

At the end of September, Chen Wang, a junior student in clinical medicine, died, and his body was found by the river. The cause of death was sudden cardiac arrest.

A week later, Jiao Bai, a freshman in the same department, returned to school, and he was greeted by a university time filled with exams.

In general, Jiao Bai finally ended all the mission-related life and began his own life.

    “Jiao Bai! Shoot!”

On the basketball court, the basketball teams of the clinical and nursing departments were playing a game.

Jiao Bai dribbled the ball simply. He stood still, raised his head, squinted his sweaty eyes, squatted down, jumped up, held the ball with both hands, pressed his right hand against the surface of the ball, and shot it upwards.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the ball cut through the void, flying towards the basket in a beautiful arc,

    “Clang!”

The basketball slammed into the edge of the basket and bounced far away.

    He didn’t make the shot.

Jiao Bai failed to show off. During the intermission, he sat on the bench panting heavily, his neck and face flushed with blood, and his lean but not fragile back rose and fell constantly with the frequency of his breathing. Under the jersey was a young and vibrant body.

The classmate next to him was making heart gestures to his girlfriend in the audience, dog food flying everywhere.

Jiao Bai pressed his thin muscles of his legs with both hands, his eyes watching the basketball court boiling with youthful vigor, but his thoughts drifted away.

The night before yesterday, Qi Yi Liao gave him an after-sex bath. He stroked Qi Yi Liao’s dyed black short hair and suddenly tentatively told him his secret, everything.

If there was someone in this world who could listen to him tell these things, it would only be Qi Yi Liao, who had awakened his ego and fought against the world consciousness. Others, including Zhang Zhen, wouldn’t work. Not only would he not be able to explain it, but it would also trigger unimaginable after-sales service.

The secret was an invisible mountain, pressing on his soul all the time, and he needed Qi Yi Liao to help him take away half of it.

    And Qi Yi Liao,

That old pervert cleaned him up as if nothing had happened, checked if he was injured, and after confirming that he wasn’t,

Nailed him to the glass door with the water still running.

Damn it, he couldn’t get angry, he couldn’t complain, he could only have his hands twisted behind his back and bite the back of his neck as he walked all over the bathroom, because for an old man who had suffered so much, being able to do it was a blessing, a huge, huge blessing!

Jiao Bai wiped the sweat from his face, hiding his annoyed expression in his hot and humid palms.

There was a lot of commotion in the audience. Jiao Bai turned his head and saw several seniors from the clinical department, all handsome guys, two of whom were Chen Wang’s roommates.

When Jiao Bai was still “Chen Wang”, the two of them were fighting, but now it seemed that they had already fought together.

–Living has infinite possibilities, living has infinite possibilities.

Jiao Bai grabbed his jersey and wiped his neck. Last year, he “died and came back to life” with Chen Wang’s Barrier Card. He didn’t see Chen Wang’s body and thought it had been taken care of by Little Assistant in some way. He didn’t expect Little Assistant to keep it, and even put it to good use.

    “Little Assistant?”

    “Son, are you there?”

“Tsk, so this time we’re completely disconnected, aren’t we? I don’t have any more restrictions, do I?”

“Well, the mission’s over, the death evasion is over, and next,”

Jiao Bai smiled in his heart, “I’m going to move forward on my own.”

“Oh right, remember to pay up on that chrysanthemum spirit thing from your company!”

There was a warehouse in the Qi Corporation’s first floor dedicated to storing packages for employees, and a middle-aged man and a young man were responsible for the handover.

Every day at five or six o’clock, the delivery men from the logistics company would bring over packages of all sizes, register the tracking numbers one by one in a notebook, and the corresponding employees would write their names behind them when they picked up their packages.

Everything was as usual this day, nothing different.

The middle-aged man placed the packages on the ground one by one on the shelves, paper bags with paper bags, medium and small cardboard boxes in one area, and large items against the wall.

He picked up a medium-sized cardboard box, stuffed it into the second layer of the shelf, clapped his hands, and went to carry other packages.

The next second, the middle-aged man suddenly turned his head and stared at the medium-sized cardboard box. Something flashed through his mind, his eyelids twitched, and he quickly went over to take the cardboard box out.

Usually, when he put the packages away, he would habitually take a look at the recipient. Just now, he really didn’t see it wrong. The cardboard box was addressed to…

“Uncle, keep an eye on things here, I’m going to the bathroom.” The young man turned the page of the filled notebook, pressed his pen to wait for the next delivery man to come over, took out his phone and opened a game, wanting to play a couple of rounds in the bathroom to clear his mind.

The middle-aged man’s hand holding the cardboard box was trembling: “Wait, don’t go yet, Xiao Liu, come here quickly!”

“What’s wrong, Uncle? Is there something dangerous in your cardboard box…” The young man saw something, his voice came to an abrupt stop, and the urge to pee was scared back into him.

The recipient of the cardboard box was – Qi Yi Liao.

The three words were printed, very neatly, without a single mistake, without a single difference, the middle-aged man and the young man were both dumbfounded.

“Did the chairman buy something online?”

    “Is that possible?”

“Maybe it’s just the same name.”

“Does the group have someone with the same name as the chairman?”

    “…”

The two looked at each other and quickly took the cardboard box to find the front desk.

Jiao Bai came to the Qi Corporation after school. As soon as he entered the building, the five girls at the front desk looked over at him in unison, with more enthusiasm than ever before.

The young man wasn’t pretentious. As long as he didn’t have anything to worry about, he would smile when he came, his eyes curved up, his tiger teeth shining sharply, both wild and cute. Now he came in with a smile on his face, in a very good mood.

One of the front desk girls spoke up: “Bai Shao, the package has already been taken upstairs by Secretary Qi.”

    Jiao Bai blinked: “What package?”

The girl smiled reservedly: “The things you bought for the chairman.”

Jiao Bai was confused. He hadn’t had any desire to buy anything online recently, let alone buy anything for Qi Yi Liao…

Crap, could it be that? Did it arrive so quickly?

That wasn’t the problem, the problem was that Little Assistant said to send it to his residence by express delivery???

Several front desk staff watched the young man run towards the chairman’s private elevator, exchanged glances, and secretly covered their mouths to laugh.

Having found the person in his heart, the chairman had come alive. His current state was worlds apart from what it was before last month. The thin lines of his cheeks had recovered.

This year, the group would also have a team building activity during Christmas, a trip to Europe.

Everyone didn’t have much to say, they just hoped that the chairman would come to work every day with a satisfied look on his face, and not starve himself.

Jiao Bai rushed out of the elevator at the speed of a basketball shot and into Qi Yi Liao’s office. He swept his eyes and saw the cardboard box on the floor next to the coffee table. He quickly went over, squatted down, and took a look.

Recipient: Qi Yi Liao, Qi Corporation, West City.

On the other side of the sender, there was no information, only a large flower.

    A chrysanthemum.

“… Fuck.” Jiao Bai sat down on the floor, pulled off the backpack on his shoulder, and hugged the cardboard box with both hands, bouncing it up and down. It was quite heavy. “Little Assistant, why send it to Qi Yi Liao? Send it to me, really,”

Jiao Bai had just opened the cardboard box and hadn’t had time to gain knowledge when footsteps came from behind, mixed with a slightly hoarse voice, “What did you buy for me?”

“No, nothing.” Jiao Bai quickly closed the cardboard box. “I bought it myself. When I was writing the address, all I could think about was you, so I wrote your address.”

After saying that, he wanted to give himself a thumbs up, look at this ability to adapt, listen to this gooey way of speaking.

Qi Yi Liao sat down on the sofa in front of the coffee table, his straight trouser legs revealing bright leather shoes, “Really?”

Jiao Bai was still sitting, with the cardboard box between his legs, his hands still resting on it, unable to hide his guilt: “Why would I lie to you?”

Qi Yi Liao leaned forward, and Jiao Bai climbed up and lay on the coffee table, leaning over to loosen his tightly knotted tie. “Don’t worry about the express delivery. Tomorrow is Saturday, let’s go out and play.”

“Climbing mountains?” Qi Yi Liao teased the young man like a cat, scratching his chin lightly.

The corner of Jiao Bai’s mouth twitched. He was speechless at this bewildering middle-aged style.

A very pleasant light fragrance wafted over. Jiao Bai raised his head and was bitten on the lip. He raised the back of his neck and kissed Qi Yi Liao.

    Then,

The cardboard box between his legs was taken away.

Jiao Bai, whose lips were flushed, the corners of his eyes were wet, and his hand was already on the waistband of his tracksuit: “…”

It seemed that this day wouldn’t be easy.

Jiao Bai jumped up and pounced on Qi Yi Liao, but he didn’t get the cardboard box back, and was pinned down on his leather shoes with his waist pinched, his head hitting his palm.

The cardboard box, which had already been opened, opened its mouth wide.

Qi Yi Liao looked inside, it was full of ointment, neatly arranged, he took out one and looked at it, the bottle design of the ointment was quite unique, covered with colorful small chrysanthemums.

    “Chrysan…”

“Don’t say it out loud, just understand.” Jiao Bai quickly stopped Qi Yi Liao from saying it. “Now that you’ve seen it, I won’t hide it from you anymore, I bought this for myself,” although you take care of me every time, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re a donkey.

Qi Yi Liao picked Jiao Bai up and put him on his lap. He opened the ointment and smelled a wisp of fragrance: “Does this ointment exist on the market?”

“Not from this world.” Jiao Bai stopped there.

    Qi Yi Liao was silent.

Jiao Bai thought that Qi Yi Liao would be overthinking, afraid that he was still in contact with Little Assistant, and would be involved in dog blood again. He was about to comfort him when a laugh rang in his ears.

    “Not from this world,”

Qi Yi Liao squeezed out a dollop of ointment and rubbed the waist of the person on his lap with his thumb. “Turn around and sit down, let’s try the effect.”

    Jiao Bai: “…”

“Aren’t you tired after working all day?” Jiao Bai heard the gravelly quality in his voice.

“Tired.” Qi Yi Liao sighed in his neck and kissed him slowly. “So you listen, be good and let Uncle put it in.”

Jiao Bai and Qi Yi Liao had agreed that it would be over before eight o’clock, but as a result, it was already past ten o’clock when they left, to be exact, it was ten forty-six! It was Qi Da driving, not Zhang Zhen. He was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to hold back and punch his third brother.

Jiao Bai sat in the back seat drinking honey water. He couldn’t just sit, but he got into the car himself, his legs didn’t hurt and his waist wasn’t sore. Little Assistant’s recommendation was indeed a special product, and the effect was absolutely great.

Just a little bit could turn him into a pot of water, heating automatically. Qi Yi Liao would have a hot spring to soak in from now on.

As for the side effects of the ointment, Jiao Bai hadn’t noticed any yet. It stood to reason that such a good thing must have disadvantages.

It was estimated that there were side effects at the beginning, such as dependence and itching. There were many people who used it, and many people complained. After many adjustments, it was perfected.

The predecessors planted trees, and the descendants enjoyed the shade.

Jiao Bai finished drinking the honey water, turned his head to look out the window. This wasn’t the way back to Lan Mo Manor. He threw the empty bottle into the trash can and patted Qi Yi Liao, who was reading a document on the side: “Where are we going?”

“Take you out to play.” Qi Yi Liao handled official business.

“How old are you? You’ve been busy for several hours, and you’re still not resting. Why are you working so hard? We can stay at home all weekend, and we don’t have to go out.” Jiao Bai took the document from his hand and said with a stern face, “Don’t read it, take a break.”

“Uncle is only thirty-six.” Qi Yi Liao said helplessly.

Jiao Bai squinted: “When you were thirty-three, I said you were only thirty-three, and you said you were old.”

“Different times, different circumstances.” Qi Yi Liao rubbed his aching forehead, a hint of a smile floating between his handsome eyebrows, “Uncle wants to take care of his body and spend more time with you.”

Jiao Bai wanted to say something, but Qi Yi Liao said: “Xiao Bai, recite a few scriptures, it’s been a long time since I heard you recite.”

“I’ll just recite something casually.” Jiao Bai rummaged through his memory.

Qi Yi Liao twisted his earlobe: “Mm.”

The sound of chanting scriptures rang out from the back seat of the car.

Qi Yi Liao took off his dark gray suit jacket and unbuttoned the top button of his black shirt. He leaned against the back of the chair and closed his eyes to rest.

A few moments later, Qi Yi Liao touched the arm of the person next to him, and then moved down, holding his hand, pinching his soft bones, and gently stroking a finger joint.

The sound of chanting scriptures stopped.

Jiao Bai’s ring finger curled up from being stroked.

In that instant, Qi Yi Liao took his hand and left a ring of teeth marks on his ring finger.

Jiao Bai sighed inwardly. Just now he thought…

The tip of his ring finger suddenly cooled, and a hard object was put on it, slowly pressing in,

Overlapping with the teeth marks there.
