Chapter Index

Su Sheng had no intention of sleeping. After Loren left, he got up, grabbed a jacket, and went out.

The ring that had been left outside Bia’s room door during the day still weighed heavily on his mind. After much deliberation, he decided it was inappropriate to leave it there.

Once he retrieved it, he would destroy it without hesitation.

He was not a man who liked leaving loose ends.

Arriving downstairs at Bia’s house, Su Sheng did not alert Bia. Instead, he cast an invisibility spell on himself and slipped inside silently.

When he reached the room door, he searched the floor but found no ring.

He rubbed his brow in frustration. That was strange; it had definitely been dropped here during the day.

After searching with magic and still finding nothing, Su Sheng felt a surge of annoyance, and his expression involuntarily darkened.

Had Bia woken up? Had he taken it?

After much hesitation, he dispelled the magic and knocked on the door, but there was no movement inside.

    Bia had not woken up.

He sighed. Not finding it wasn’t a major issue, but since he was already here, he might as well test if Bia was the person he was looking for.

This was the last name displayed on the parchment, making the probability high.

Pushing the door open, he saw that Bia was indeed still lying on the bed just as he had been during the day, showing no signs of waking up.

Su Sheng took out the instrument. It emitted a white light, and after scanning Bia, it remained silent.

    It wasn’t him.

Su Sheng was stunned. This was clearly the last name.

He pulled out the parchment and checked it repeatedly, confirming that all the names listed were correct.

    Who else could it be?

Suddenly, his gaze fixed on the very end of the parchment, where there was one more name, but the handwriting was blurred and indistinct.

Who could the last one be?

He had searched the entire continent and hadn’t found them. Could the remaining person possibly be a god?

    …The God of Light?

Su Sheng found the idea absurd and ridiculous. The God of Light of the Continent of Light had been dormant for hundreds of years. How could he be the person Su Sheng was looking for?

But there was no rush. He still had time to search slowly. Putting away the parchment, Su Sheng quietly left.

Not long after Su Sheng departed, Bia opened his eyes. He stared at the spot where Su Sheng had left for a moment, then slowly opened his palm. A golden ring lay there.

Bia held up the ring, examining it repeatedly, his expression inscrutable.

A moment later, he closed his hand, and the ring was once again concealed within his grasp.

The next day, Loren was waiting early by the door for him to emerge. Upon seeing him, Loren said, “Are you done with your business?”

    Su Sheng nodded.

Loren said, “Then let’s leave this place.”

Su Sheng asked, “You know how to leave?”

    Loren smiled. “Of course.”

After leaving Bia’s memory, Loren told Su Sheng to wait for him outside Dragon Island, saying he had something to take care of.

Su Sheng left first. The crew waiting outside the island were delighted to see him. Su Sheng gave them some gold coins as payment and promised to pay them extra once he delivered them back, which drew cheers from the sailors.

When Loren returned, he was carrying a black net. A sharp object poked through the mesh—Su Sheng squinted and identified it as a pair of dragon horns.

He barely needed to guess. Given Loren’s personality, these dragon horns definitely belonged to Bell, the Black Dragon leader.

Loren stepped onto the ship and placed the object on the deck. The surrounding crew members gathered around, asking what it was.

Loren ignored the people around him, winked at Su Sheng, and said, “Norton, the dragon that harmed you has been killed by me, and I’ve taken his horns.”

Su Sheng stared at the pair of dragon horns for a long time.

    Dragon horns have hallucinogenic properties.

He was an extremely knowledgeable apothecary and a clever one at that. An idea suddenly sparked in his mind regarding these horns.

If successful, he would kill the Demon King once again.

A dark glint flashed in his eyes. He looked up and asked, “Can I have these dragon horns? I am willing to pay an equivalent price.” As he spoke, Su Sheng took out a bottle of potion, intending to hand it to Loren.

    But Loren pushed it back.

“My dear, would I be stingy with something you desire?” Loren smiled, handing him the dragon horns and asking, “Where should I put them?”

Su Sheng crushed the dragon horns and stored them away. What Loren didn’t know was that in the not-too-distant future, he would regret this action, and his regret would be absolute.

Returning to the Continent of Light, Loren turned his head and asked, “Where do you want to go next?”

Su Sheng replied calmly, “I haven’t decided, but I haven’t had a good look at the scenery of this continent yet.”

The light in Loren’s eyes flickered slightly. He walked over and took Su Sheng’s hand, his tone sincere: “I traveled this continent in my early years, so I know it well. Let me show you around, alright?”

Su Sheng expressionlessly withdrew his hand and wiped it with a tissue. Meeting Loren’s dimmed, hurt gaze, he suddenly curled his lips into a smile. “Alright.”

Loren’s displeasure vanished instantly. His eyes were fixed on the faint smile on Su Sheng’s face. The hand that had just held Su Sheng involuntarily rubbed itself lightly, as if reminiscing. His eyes darkened slightly, but he quickly composed himself. The next second, he put on his trademark polite smile.

He bowed in deference, inviting Su Sheng: “Saint Son, please follow me then.”

Su Sheng nodded. “I appreciate the trouble.”

Loren’s smile deepened. “It is my honor to serve you.”

Their first stop was the Elf Kingdom. By this time, Su Sheng had almost collected all the necessary medicinal ingredients; all that was missing was the right moment.

    In the forest.

    It began to rain.

On the path, Su Sheng raised his hand, intending to cast a rain-sheltering spell, but Loren stopped him.

Loren opened an umbrella and pulled him underneath. “Let’s use the umbrella. There’s a small house ahead where I once stayed.”

Although magic was far more convenient than an umbrella, Loren insisted on pulling him under it. Su Sheng didn’t expose him and allowed Loren to lead him.

Slowly, a small cottage covered in vines appeared in their view.

The house was small and looked like no one had lived in it for a long time, but it had been maintained with magic, so it wasn’t dirty.

“We’ll stay here tonight,” Loren said, winking. He pushed the door open and smiled at Su Sheng.

    “Mm,” Su Sheng replied faintly.

In the middle of the night, Loren went out for something. He thought he left silently, but Su Sheng still detected him.

Su Sheng had secretly drawn a tracking spell on Loren. After confirming he was far away, Su Sheng got up, took out the medicinal ingredients he had collected over the past few days, along with the pair of dragon horns, and began preparing the potion.

Soon, a viscous green magic potion was ready. Su Sheng held it in his hand, examined it for a moment, and then drank it down without hesitation.

This potion was non-toxic, but it would make the user appear to be poisoned, and the symptoms were so realistic that even the Demon King would be unable to detect the deception in a short time.

The plan would officially begin as soon as Loren returned.

Su Sheng closed his eyes and waited quietly.

When a sound came from outside the house and the door was pushed open, Loren saw the situation inside and rushed over anxiously:

    “Norton, what’s wrong?”

Loren saw Su Sheng collapsed on the ground and instantly panicked. He rushed over, taking the steps two at a time, and helped him up. He checked Su Sheng’s breathing with his fingers and subconsciously sighed in relief when he felt a faint breath.

At least he could still be saved.

He helped Su Sheng onto the bed and tentatively shook him. Su Sheng’s face was extremely pale, his lips purple—he was clearly poisoned.

Since he was poisoned, it should be possible to neutralize it using the demonic power Loren had stored within Su Sheng’s body.

The Demon King calmed down and slowly began to activate the portion of his power buried inside Su Sheng.

However, a moment later, the Demon King opened his eyes in disbelief, his hand trembling as he touched Su Sheng’s lower abdomen—

    Why wasn’t it working?!
