Forced To Become The Devil’S Succubus Lover Chapter 22
byChapter 22: Chapter 22: Impatient?
The moment Su Sheng woke up, he was met with a pair of eyes filled with worry.
In front of the stone bed, Loren was looking at him with concern. As soon as he saw Su Sheng wake up, he asked, “How do you feel?”
Behind Loren was a dry stone wall, and through the gaps in his clothing, Su Sheng could faintly see the swirling wind and snow outside. He looked around and asked in a hoarse voice, “Who was talking just now?”
A strange expression flashed across Loren’s face. He clasped his hands together and smiled, saying, “Why do you ask?”
Doubt instantly arose in Su Sheng’s mind, but looking at Loren’s azure eyes and his extremely worried expression, he felt he might be overthinking things.
“This cave…”
“Oh, you were asking about this,” Loren said. “A very powerful Mage passed by just now. Seeing you were injured, he cleaned up the cave.”
Su Sheng nodded, closed his eyes, and said nothing more. A concerned voice sounded in his ear.
“Are you still uncomfortable?”
Even as he spoke, Su Sheng realized that the pain in his body was gone. This was what puzzled him. He had clearly suffered such severe injuries, practically on the verge of death, yet he hadn’t died?
“It doesn’t hurt anymore,” Su Sheng replied. After a moment, he asked, “Did you heal my injuries?”
Loren said, “Oh, you know I’m a knight. I don’t have that kind of ability. That Mage just happened to be passing by and saved you on a whim.”
Su Sheng lay on the bed, eyes closed, his voice flat: “You couldn’t even come up with a more reasonable lie.”
Loren chuckled, “My dear Norton, I swear to the God of Light that if I am lying, may I be abandoned by the gods.”
“Actually, it was like this: when that Mage passed by, I stopped him and traded him an equivalent amount of Life Potion. Then I asked him to clean up the stone cave for us. That’s how you were saved.”
Su Sheng turned his head and saw the empty potion bottles scattered on the ground out of the corner of his eye. “I see.”
After a while, Su Sheng asked, “How are you? Do you need rest?”
Loren shook his head and said, “I’m fine.”
Su Sheng: “Then let’s leave here.”
.
The next stop was Dragon Island. Dragon Island was not on the continent but was a giant island located in the sea—the lair of the giant dragons. It used to be accessible, but in recent years, Dragon Island suddenly cut off contact with the Holy Temple. After the Temple staff sent there vanished without a trace, it was listed as a forbidden, extremely dangerous area.
As the Saint Son, Su Sheng knew the method to enter Dragon Island, but that was in the past; it was probably useless now.
After taking dozens of consecutive teleportation arrays, they arrived at the seaside.
The weather was quite good today. Fishermen were out, and fishing boats were sailing toward the outer sea, one after another.
Su Sheng found a small tavern and sat silently inside. Loren went over and ordered two drinks, brought them back, and produced a small cake for him as if by magic.
Su Sheng naturally reached out and took it. The drink was set aside, and he ate the cake in small bites.
Just then, two tattooed strong men carrying swords entered the bar—one with brown curly hair, the other with golden curly hair.
The brown-haired man spoke to his companion, but his voice was extremely loud, as if afraid others wouldn’t hear him: “Did you hear? The Dead Sea has started acting up again recently.”
“I heard. Oh, so many fishermen have gone missing. Tsk, tsk, tsk, truly pitiful.”
Su Sheng put down his fork, pulled up his hood to conceal his black hair, and then stood up and walked toward the brown-haired strong man.
“Excuse me, what is this Dead Sea you mentioned? Could you elaborate?”
The two strong men were startled at first, then exchanged glances. Su Sheng said plainly, “This round of drinks is on me.”
“Come, come, sit here.” One of them enthusiastically patted the table. “I see you’re wearing a Mage robe and the Mage Guild badge. You must be a powerful Mage, right?”
“A lot of Mages came here a while ago, all asking us about the Dead Sea. Let me tell you, the Dead Sea is not simple. No matter how powerful a Mage you are, going there is a dead end.”
“I bet the Saint Son wouldn’t die if he went,” the yellow-haired man interjected.
The brown-haired man retorted, “That’s not necessarily true.”
Just as the ordered drinks arrived, Su Sheng pushed a glass toward them and asked, “Can you tell me what happened at the Dead Sea?”
“Sigh…” The brown-haired man took a sip of wine and sighed heavily. “Every once in a while, people inexplicably disappear at sea. The key is that the boats return, but the people don’t. Everyone says those people encountered the ‘Dead Sea’.”
Su Sheng asked, “The ‘Dead Sea’ moves?”
“Yes,” the yellow-haired man quickly affirmed.
Su Sheng frowned and asked, “When did this start?”
The brown-haired man was about to speak but was interrupted.
“Hey, don’t interrupt, it’s my turn to talk. It started twenty years ago.” The yellow-haired man nudged Su Sheng with his elbow. “Order one for me too.”
“If you touch him again, you won’t just miss out on a drink, you’ll get a beating.” A familiar voice came from the side.
“Who are you?” The two strong men stood up simultaneously, glaring at the newcomer.
Su Sheng said calmly, “Stop it.”
A hand rested on his shoulder, and Loren’s soft laugh sounded in his ear: “You’re so biased. You didn’t even order a drink for me.”
The two strong men immediately seemed to understand something. They smiled knowingly, winked, and sat back down.
Su Sheng mercilessly brushed off the hand on his shoulder and asked, “What did those Mages ask about?”
The yellow-haired man said, “They asked too many things, but mostly how to find the Dead Sea.”
“The local residents dare not go, and they don’t have boats. Many people left disappointed.”
“What about the rest?” Su Sheng caught the loophole in the statement and asked.
“I think you’re quite agreeable, but it’s not that I won’t tell you, it’s that I don’t want you to go to your death,” the yellow-haired man said earnestly.
Su Sheng was stunned, and the hand under his robe trembled uncontrollably. After a moment, he said, “Don’t worry, we won’t die.”
“You’re really stubborn. Fine, we have a trading market. If you want to find it, I can tell you the address. But I warn you, those people aren’t easy to deal with either.”
“Thank you.” After treating them to two drinks, Su Sheng and Loren left the tavern.
.
Following the address, they found the trading market and, based on the hints the two men gave them, located a captain who specialized in taking shady jobs.
The captain sat in a narrow, dark room, smoking. The smell of burning tobacco, scattered all around, was extremely unpleasant.
A sharp female voice came from inside the room: “Damn it! No jobs today either! Orion, you useless thing, all you do is smoke all day.”
“Go to hell, you crazy woman! What can you do besides drink and play cards?”
Su Sheng frowned. After casting a magic barrier to isolate the smell, he gently knocked on the door.
“Who the hell is it?”
A thin, scruffy man wearing a tricorn hat appeared before Su Sheng. His initially impatient expression instantly vanished upon seeing Su Sheng. His eyes flashed, and he adopted a respectful demeanor, bowing: “Ah! Esteemed Mage, are you looking to go out to sea?”
Su Sheng said, “Do you go to the Dead Sea?”
“Ah, this…” The man looked troubled.
“Money is not an issue. I will pay you ten times the usual reward,” Su Sheng said flatly.
Su Sheng didn’t miss the look of temptation on the man’s face. He added, “Twenty times.”
“Yes, of course!” Orion’s eyes lit up. He rubbed his hands excitedly and said, “You’ve certainly come to the right person. I’ve never failed on a voyage.”
“When would the two of you like to depart?”
Su Sheng looked at the sky and said, “Now.”
“Now?”
“Is that a problem?”
“No, no, no. Just wait a moment. I’ll go gather the crew. Please, have a seat, have a seat.” Orion scurried into the room to fetch chairs.
.
Once everything was ready, they boarded the ship.
Su Sheng roughly counted. The ship wasn’t large, but there were over twenty crew members aboard.
Su Sheng and Loren were resting in the cabin when a knock sounded at the door.
“What is it?” he asked.
“I’ve brought tea,” a female voice replied.
“Enter.”
The female crew member placed the tea on the table and cautiously asked, “Sirs, are you thirsty?”
“You may leave.” Loren toyed with the teacup but showed no intention of drinking.
“Esteemed Mage…” The female crew member hesitated.
Loren leaned back casually in the armchair and sneered, “What? We haven’t even gone far from the shore. Are you already impatient?”
