Forced To Become The Devil’S Succubus Lover Chapter 15
by“The King requests your presence.”
A voice came from the bottom of the stairs.
Su Sheng picked up his staff and went down with Loren.
Arriving at the Ape King Fortans’ residence, Su Sheng looked up. Before him, two intertwined ancient trees hung upside down against the sky. The house was built precisely where the trees merged, stable and secure, several times more spacious than the nearby treehouses.
However, the branches and leaves were yellowed, suggesting it hadn’t been maintained for a long time.
The few apes above looked worried. Seeing Su Sheng arrive, they quickly lowered a vine ladder and whispered:
“Saint Son, the King has been waiting for you for a long time.”
Su Sheng nodded and climbed up the vine ladder.
Loren followed closely.
Upon meeting Fortans, Su Sheng finally understood why the apes looked so grief-stricken.
Fortans looked ancient, his eyes cloudy. When he turned his head toward them, there was a slight unnatural stiffness.
Given his age, he shouldn’t look this frail.
“Saint Son.” Fortans nodded slightly in his direction. “It is fortunate that you could visit me. Please forgive my physical inconvenience; I cannot bow to you.”
“It’s fine.” Su Sheng sighed. “You used forbidden magic that you shouldn’t have. Your body is overdrawn and failing quickly.”
Fortans coughed twice, trying hard to open his eyes to see more clearly: “I know, of course I know. Those hateful bandits… Alas, may I ask why the Saint Son has come this time?”
Su Sheng tilted his head and said, “Please step outside for a moment.”
Loren’s expression visibly froze for an instant. After scrutinizing both of them for a while, he forced a smile and asked, “Norton, is there something you can’t let me know?”
“Loren, Fortans and I have some private matters to discuss. Please step out.” Su Sheng furrowed his brow, impatiently flicking his sleeve, his tone clearly displeased.
Fortans chuckled, trying to smooth things over: “It seems your friend cares about you very much.”
The wooden window sill was snapped by Loren with a crack. He maintained his polite smile and said, “Very well, very well.” Then he moved outside.
Loren stood outside, feeling extremely unhappy.
The small soldiers nearby kept chattering in his ear. He wanted to kill them all, as it was a commonplace act for him, but thinking of the person inside the door, the magic he had just condensed on his fingertips was forcibly extinguished.
A few ape soldiers stood nearby, whispering.
“Why is it so cold? Did you feel that?”
“It was a bit cold just now, strange. It’s clearly summer.”
Loren’s expression remained unchanged, and he unceremoniously chased away the surrounding soldiers, citing that “the Saint Son’s conversation must not be eavesdropped upon.”
The surroundings immediately quieted down. At this point, the intermittent conversation inside inevitably reached Loren’s ears.
Words like “looking for someone” and “characteristics” raised his guard. The Demon King began to let his imagination run wild, uncontrollably weaving a story in his mind.
Norton was “looking for someone,” and that person was “important” and possessed “three characteristics.”
The Demon King’s mind automatically conjured a scene—in icy, snowy weather, the weak and pitiful Norton was saved by someone. In Norton’s remaining memories, that person was very “important” and possessed “three characteristics,” and Norton was now searching for this person.
A strong sense of displeasure and jealousy rose from his feet to his head. The Demon King pondered how he could sabotage this search.
Ah, he had an idea. The Demon King smiled.
Turning his back, he snapped his fingers, and an order was dispatched to the seven demon City-States.
The content of the order was—spare no effort to collect information about Norton Similias’s past, and be sure to find detailed information regarding the “three characteristics.”
And upon finding them, immediately kill anyone who fits those “three characteristics.”
The Abyss instantly boiled over.
However, Su Sheng, the person involved, was completely unaware of all this.
The conversation inside the room went like this—
Su Sheng said, “Please close your eyes.”
Fortans closed his eyes as instructed but couldn’t help but ask, “Saint Son, what are you doing…?”
A small, exquisite black cube machine appeared out of thin air in Su Sheng’s hand. It scanned Fortans’ entire body. After a moment, a large, bright red “X” appeared on the machine’s screen.
Su Sheng’s tense body relaxed, and disappointment flashed in his eyes.
It wasn’t him.
“I am looking for a very important person.”
Fortans seemed interested and asked, “What kind of person?”
“Someone who possesses three characteristics.”
Fortans asked, “Can you tell me?”
Su Sheng refused, then said, “I have examined your body. Previously, my…”
He paused, then continued, “My friend gave me a leaf of the Silver Star Orchid. Perhaps it can help you.”
He spoke the word “friend” unnaturally, and his fingertip twitched slightly after speaking.
Although the Silver Star Orchid grows deep within The Abyss, its uses are manifold, primarily detoxification and prolonging life.
Fortans’ expression turned astonished, but not because his body might be cured. He was shocked by Su Sheng’s recent experiences. His voice suddenly grew louder: “Silver Star Orchid! Does this mean you have already been to The Abyss? And even ventured near Spire Castle?”
Seeing Su Sheng remain silent, Fortans’ eyes were complex. After a moment, he murmured, “Of course, of course. Only you could accomplish such a feat.”
A faint sigh sounded.
Fortans lamented, “It’s a pity I am old and can no longer be as reckless as before, or I would certainly join you on an adventure.”
Su Sheng also smiled faintly, but the smile was fleeting.
Not long after, Su Sheng emerged. Seeing Loren leaning against the railing, looking unhappy and staring intently at the spot where he emerged, Su Sheng paused. A strange sense of guilt surfaced in his heart.
It was as if he had done something wrong to Loren.
Su Sheng felt a moment of strangeness regarding this sudden thought.
Frowning and suppressing the feeling, Su Sheng finally opened his mouth and asked, “Have you been standing here the whole time?”
He actually wanted to ask, “Have you been watching like this the whole time?”
“Are you done talking?” Loren asked with a smiling face, his hands behind his back, as if he wasn’t the one who had been angry enough to snap wood just moments ago.
Su Sheng: “Yes.”
He felt uncomfortable.
Turning his head and clearing his throat, he said, “The matter here is resolved. Let’s go.”
Loren followed behind, the smile fading indifferently from his face. His eyes were icy, holding only the controller’s tolerance for the controlled subject’s deviation.
Perhaps there was something else—a jealousy he hadn’t even realized himself.
