Fallen At A Glance Chapter 13
bySuggestion Not Adopted
Night was deep, like ink that refused to dissolve.
Yun Suiyi surfaced from a restless dream. His consciousness still hovered at the edge of chaos, but his body was the first to register the surrounding environment.
There were no cold stone slabs, no damp grass. Beneath him was an incredibly soft bed, and a clear, tranquil cold fragrance lingered at his nose—like pine needles after a fresh snow, or jade soaked in moonlight.
It was Lian Mu’s scent.
Yun Suiyi instinctively nudged toward the source of warmth, his cheek pressing against warm skin—he was currently resting his head on Lian Mu’s body.
This realization instantly cleared his muddled mind, and his heart settled down.
Yun Suiyi quietly opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was Lian Mu’s lowered gaze. Lian Mu leaned against the headboard, his plain white sleeping robe making his figure appear even more refined and elegant. His ink-black hair cascaded down his shoulders, a few playful strands falling to brush Yun Suiyi’s cheek, carrying a faint, clean scent of soap.
Lian Mu hadn’t noticed Yun Suiyi waking up and remained focused on the book in his hands.
A glazed lamp by the bed cast a soft glow, illuminating his incomparably handsome profile like carved jade. The eyes that were usually ethereal and aloof, seemingly capable of perceiving all things, were now meekly lowered, long lashes casting a small, gentle shadow beneath his eyelids.
His lips were slightly pursed, his expression focused and serene, as if the ancient text in his hands was the only treasure in the world at this moment.
Yun Suiyi stared, slightly mesmerized.
The candle occasionally let out a soft crackle, startling him back to his senses. Feeling a slight numbness in his arm, he rubbed against Lian Mu’s embrace, letting out a nearly inaudible hum, like a cat seeking attention.
Almost instantly, Lian Mu stopped reading. He lowered his head, his gaze falling upon Yun Suiyi’s face, which was a mixture of post-sleep grogginess and slyness. In those clear, cold eyes, the ice and snow instantly melted, transforming into a pool of gentle spring water capable of drowning a person.
“Awake?” Lian Mu’s voice was deep and magnetic, carrying a slight nocturnal huskiness that was especially pleasant in the quiet night. “Did I wake you by turning the page?”
Yun Suiyi shook his head, a lazy smile curving his lips, still tinged with sleepiness. “No. Listening to you turn pages is more effective than the Tranquil Soul Melody from the Heavenly Sound Pavilion.”
He stretched, his bones emitting a soft crackle, and then buried his head deeper into Lian Mu’s chest.
Lian Mu chuckled, the sound low and pleasant. The vibration in his chest clearly transmitted to Yun Suiyi. He set down the book, and his long, jade-like fingers gently brushed away a stray lock of hair clinging to Yun Suiyi’s cheek, his movements as delicate as if handling a rare treasure.
He asked softly, “Do you want to sleep a little longer?”
“No, I’m awake.” Yun Suiyi shook his head, grasping Lian Mu’s cool fingers and instinctively breathing a puff of warm air onto them.
Lian Mu flipped his hand, intertwining their fingers, carefully enveloping the warmth as if it were precious. “You just woke up. Are you hungry? I’ll have them bring food.”
At the mention of “food,” Yun Suiyi’s stomach uncooperatively let out a loud rumble. He smiled, slightly embarrassed.
Lian Mu’s lips curved into a faint arc. He clapped his hands, and the prepared Azure Cloud Sect disciples filed in, setting a small dining table on the bed. Dishes were presented one by one, and the aroma instantly filled the room.
“Wow!” Yun Suiyi’s eyes lit up instantly. The table was laden with the Azure Cloud Sect’s signature Spiritual Cuisine, perfect in color, aroma, and flavor.
Lian Mu himself ate little, spending most of the time serving Yun Suiyi. Seeing that Yun Suiyi liked the sweet and sour fish, he quietly placed the tenderest meat from the fish belly into his bowl.
When Yun Suiyi was full, Lian Mu thoughtfully handed him a plain silk handkerchief.
After eating and drinking their fill, Yun Suiyi began to ask about Lian Mu’s visit to Xiao Cheng’s room earlier that night.
Lian Mu asked, “What does the Soul Revival Pearl you mentioned look like?”
“I haven’t seen it either, but my mother said Xiao Cheng had one.”
“I found it in his secret room,” Lian Mu said. Yun Suiyi’s face first showed happiness, then his mood began to dip.
“Yes, this is it.” Lian Mu handed Yun Suiyi a green pearl the size of a pigeon egg. “It’s yours.”
Yun Zhao’s body had been kept in an ice coffin in the Yun Manor’s vault, and he had even added energy stones around it to prevent decay. Now with the Soul Revival Pearl, Yun Zhao would likely wake up soon.
When he woke up, she would surely be very happy…
“What are you thinking about?” Lian Mu watched Yun Suiyi stare blankly at the pearl.
“…Nothing,” Yun Suiyi replied with a forced smile.
“Although it is called the Soul Revival Pearl, it doesn’t have the ability to bring the dead back to life or regrow flesh on bones. It is merely a pearl that can restore vitality, neutralize toxins, and nourish the internal organs. Using it can make a person feel refreshed and prolong life, but beyond that, it has no major effect.”
“It can’t bring people back from the dead?” Yun Suiyi was astonished.
Lian Mu flicked Yun Suiyi lightly on the forehead with his finger.
A crisp “pop” echoed clearly in the quiet room. Yun Suiyi froze completely, the smile in his eyes instantly solidifying. Like a cat whose scruff had been pinched, all his questions were instantly scattered, leaving only a blank, muddled mind and a capital “Dumbfounded.”
“If there truly was a treasure capable of raising the dead, the Hundred Immortal Sects would have been fighting over it long ago. It wouldn’t have fallen silently into Xiao Cheng’s hands like this.”
Yun Suiyi didn’t speak, merely covering the spot where he was hit, his eyes instantly welling up with moisture. He looked like a large dog scolded by its owner, full of accusation and grievance. “You hit me.”
“Does it hurt much?” Lian Mu reached out to touch him.
“Of course it hurts,” Yun Suiyi angrily turned his head away, dodging the hand. He let out a heavy, nasal sniffle. “You did that on purpose!”
Lian Mu was amused and exasperated by Yun Suiyi’s childish behavior. He simply pulled the person gently into his arms, resting his chin on the top of his fluffy head, his warm breath stirring his hair. “I saw you were upset just now, so I was teasing you.”
Yun Suiyi secretly looked up at Lian Mu’s taut jawline from within his embrace. The deliberately feigned grievance instantly melted into genuine sweetness.
He rubbed against Lian Mu, mumbling softly, “Then be gentler next time… it really hurt.”
Lian Mu tightened his arms, finding the person in his embrace incredibly sweet.
He had previously thought of him as a moody, temperamental large tiger, but now he was just a small kitten who occasionally liked to extend his claws. He often looked fierce, but his belly was already exposed, just waiting for a comforting stroke.
“Lian… Lian Mu,” Yun Suiyi’s expression suddenly became awkward.
Lian Mu observed the change in Yun Suiyi and understood. “Lie down. I’ll help you.”
“Use your hand to help me,” Yun Suiyi said, turning his head away from Lian Mu’s gaze.
Lian Mu didn’t speak. He simply pressed Yun Suiyi beneath him. The eyes that were usually indifferent and aloof were now ignited by desire into a deep, inky ocean, churning with a craving and cherish that only Yun Suiyi could read.
“Suggestion not adopted,” Lian Mu murmured, leaning down to kiss Yun Suiyi’s slightly parted lips. This kiss lacked its usual coolness; it was dominant, fiery, and carried an almost predatory intensity, as if he intended to absorb the other’s soul into his own body, merging them into one.
Under his assault, Yun Suiyi let out a muffled whimper, which quickly turned into compliant reciprocation. His arms wrapped around Lian Mu’s neck, his fingertips digging into his firm back muscles, like a drowning person grasping the only piece of driftwood.
Lian Mu’s kisses trailed downward, following Yun Suiyi’s graceful neck, sliding past his collarbone, leaving small red marks on the pale chest, like red plum blossoms blooming in the snow, declaring his possession.
His movements carried a long-suppressed force, both gentle and rough, as if punishing and coaxing at the same time.
Yun Suiyi’s body trembled beneath him, his senses infinitely magnified. Every touch from Lian Mu felt like an electric current, making him involuntarily arch his back and let out unbearable moans.
The sounds echoed in the quiet room, carrying a seductive charm, acting as an aphrodisiac that deepened Lian Mu’s movements.
When the two finally became one, Yun Suiyi bit his lip, a physiological tear escaping the corner of his eye.
Lian Mu paused his movements, lowering his head to kiss away the glistening drop. The fervor in his eyes receded slightly, replaced only by overwhelming heartache and tenderness. “Yiyi, does it hurt?” He slowed his pace, patiently soothing the person beneath him.
This continued until Yun Suiyi’s brow smoothed out again and he actively climbed onto Lian Mu’s shoulders.
And so, a new wave of passion swept over them.
Lian Mu no longer held back. He followed the most primal instincts of his body, plunging into the depths with Yun Suiyi. The bed curtains swayed gently, concealing the intoxicating spring scene within.
Sweat mingled, gasps and low growls intertwined, and the air was thick with the sweet scent of desire and their unique combined aroma.
In this moment, they were each other’s believers and each other’s deities. In the collision of bodies and the resonance of souls, they forgot the past and feared no future. Only this small space of intimacy was their shared salvation and surrender.
After an unknown amount of time, everything finally settled into silence. Only the heavy breathing of the two remained in the room.
Lian Mu carefully turned Yun Suiyi over, letting him rest his back against him, and embraced him. His chin rested lightly on the top of Yun Suiyi’s head, his nose filled with the clean scent of his hair.
Yun Suiyi was utterly weak, lacking the strength to even move a finger. He could only lean against Lian Mu like a sated cat, allowing himself to be held.
He could clearly feel the warmth and strong heartbeat of the body behind him, steady and peaceful.
Lian Mu tightened his arms, holding him even closer, as if wanting to melt him into his own flesh and blood. He lowered his head and placed a light kiss on Yun Suiyi’s sweat-dampened hair, his movement as gentle as if handling a fragile treasure.
Yun Suiyi’s heart uncontrollably fell into the large net Lian Mu had woven for him.
“Get off my bed,” Yun Suiyi said, feigning anger.
Lian Mu raised an eyebrow. “Yiyi, are you going to pull up your pants and deny me?”
“Hmph, you enjoyed it so much just now.” Yun Suiyi didn’t want to fall too fast, but… he had already completely fallen.
Yun Suiyi didn’t know what he should do. In seventeen years, Lian Mu was the best person to him.
Although he always bullied him, scolded him, and… and did this to him in bed.
But.
He truly liked Lian Mu very much.
Yet.
Would Lian Mu… like him? A layer of bitterness welled up in Yun Suiyi’s heart. In seventeen years, no one had ever liked him…
