The class teacher asked the students to return to the classroom to gather and said a few words, but Qi Ye didn’t hear a single word. The students in the class clamored to go to a dinner party, arguing about where to go.

Wei Lin suddenly turned around and knocked on his desk, “Are you going?”

“Huh?”

“Dinner party, a few of us friends want to find a place to eat quietly, the people in the class are too noisy.” Wei Lin pointed to her deskmate, “And a few people from the class next door, are you coming?”

Qi Ye didn’t know why Wei Lin would invite him. Was it because he was quieter? But he didn’t have the mind for it. “I’m not feeling well, I want to go back and rest.”

“Your face does look a little pale.” Wei Lin looked at him and turned back to talk to her friends.

After it was over, Qi Ye walked home quickly. He felt like he was going to faint if he stayed for another second.

“Qi Teacher, Qi Ye! Hey, Qi Ye, wait!”

Shi Ran shouted, but the person in front kept walking. What was going on? Was he wearing headphones and couldn’t hear? Shi Ran puffed out his cheeks and ran in front of him in one breath.

There were no headphones on his ears. Shi Ran observed before asking him, “Didn’t you hear me calling you?”

Qi Ye turned his head with difficulty, “I heard you, what’s the matter?”

Shi Ran thought Qi Ye was very strange. Was it because he was so exhausted after the exam?

“It’s nothing, I just wanted to ask you how you did on the test.” Shi Ran said honestly, “Although the results haven’t come out yet, I think I did okay. When the results come out, let’s go to the school to fill out our college applications together.”

The meaning was too obvious. If it had been the old Qi Ye, he would have jumped up with joy.

But now, Qi Ye painfully realized that the sunflower was still stuck in his backpack, the flower drooping downwards.

Qi Ye felt like a dehydrated plant, and he said weakly, “Let’s not.”

Shi Ran was stunned, obviously not expecting to be rejected. He still insisted on smiling and said, “Why, do you think you didn’t do well? Don’t think about it, wait for the results to come out, and then we’ll study together where to go. We can also ask the teacher for advice.”

I just think that the college entrance examination is over, and you don’t need me to tutor you anymore. I can’t think of anything else to do for you, so let’s just leave it at that. Take care and don’t contact me.”

Shi Ran frowned, “What are you talking about? Didn’t we agree to be friends a long time ago? Am I only friends with you because you tutor me!”

Qi Ye felt that it was acceptable to be hated when Shi Ran didn’t know his true intentions.

“I’m sorry, I’m just such a strange person. I’m very annoying, right? Now you should understand why I haven’t had any friends from the first year of high school until now. No one can tolerate me for too long.” Qi Ye said calmly, “You don’t have to endure it anymore. Go find your real friends.”

He avoided Shi Ran’s surprised eyes, quickened his pace, and walked home with a heavy heart.

His family was waiting for Qi Ye to eat. All the dishes were his favorites, as well as pizza and roast chicken ordered from outside. It was even more lavish than eating during the New Year.

His parents and sister came over to knead his shoulders and told him that he had worked hard.

Qi Ye was in no mood to celebrate. He just wanted to go back to his room and fall into a long sleep. Perhaps after waking up, his heart would not be so empty.

However, he had already disappointed the person he liked so much, and he couldn’t bear to spoil his family’s good intentions.

So he sat down at the dining table and used food to fill his empty stomach.

“Now that the exam is over, don’t think about anything else. Just relax and have fun during the summer vacation. Do you want to go anywhere?” Mom asked Qi Ye.

Qi Ye shook his head, “I haven’t thought about it.”

Dad said, “Grandpa and Grandma just called. They are very concerned about you. Do you want to go see them?”

“Okay.” He didn’t go during the winter vacation. He had said before that he would visit the old folks when the summer vacation came. Qi Ye missed them very much.

“Why do I feel like you’re in a daze? Are you running a fever?” Qi Xue went to touch his forehead. It wasn’t very hot. “We were so excited after the exam back then. You’re calmly scary.”

“Everyone has a different way of relaxing. Some people like to shout and scream, while others just want to have a good sleep.” Mom put a chicken leg in Qi Ye’s bowl. “Your brother should be the sleeping type. Son, eat quickly. After you finish eating, go to sleep. Sleep as much as you want, and we won’t call you.”

“Thank you, Mom.” Qi Ye said.

Qi Xue suddenly asked again, “Hey, how did that classmate you were helping with tutoring do on the test? Didn’t you guys make plans to celebrate together?”

Qi Ye felt like he had been stabbed again. He said numbly, “It wasn’t tutoring. We were helping each other and studying together.”

“Come on, I saw the study plan you made for him in your room. It was densely packed on several A4 papers. I randomly picked one to look at. You even had to make up for junior high school knowledge points, and you graded his test papers and wrote down the key points for him. What else would you call that if not tutoring?” Qi Xue smiled, “I think with your dedication, you could work as a tutor. Hey, if your friend really does well on the test, that would be your live advertisement.”

“It’s best to have good grades yourself to be the best advertisement.” Dad said.

“It seems that child is really a good person, so it’s worth our son being so good to him.” Mom said, “Will you guys discuss your college applications together after the results come out?”

“It should be our family discussing it together.” Qi Xue said, “My dear brother, tell your sister what major you want to study.”

Qi Ye’s head was already like paste, “I don’t know.”

Dad said, “It’s okay, it’s okay. We’ll discuss it after the results come out. No rush, no rush.”

Mom also said, “That’s right, we just said to rest well first. Xiao Xue, don’t ask anymore.”

“Okay, okay, I won’t ask. Resting well is the most important thing.” Qi Xue said in surrender.

That night, Qi Ye developed a high fever. His family took him to the hospital overnight and stayed up all night. The fever slowly subsided in the early morning of the next day.
