He’s Really Great

The joy of teasing lies in the teased person resisting.
But Qi Ye remained motionless, like a piece of wood wrapped in a quilt. Shi Ran even doubted if he covered his face, he wouldn’t struggle.
The smile on his face gradually disappeared. Shi Ran realized he might have taken the joke too far. He immediately got off Qi Ye and ruffled his hair a few times, saying, “Sorry.”
Qi Ye still didn’t speak. With the weight gone, he took deep breaths.
Shi Ran said in a low and docile voice, “It seems you don’t just dislike physical contact when you’re studying. It’s all the time.”
Shi Ran slowly got up from the bed. “Got it, I’ll be more careful in the future.”
Qi Ye slowly, finally made a move. He sat up, still covered in the quilt, glanced at Shi Ran, and then looked away, “I’m not, not unhappy, it’s just, you, you’re a little heavy.”
A clumsy excuse.
“You’re asking for it!” Shi Ran waved his fist, but his face was already smiling with relief. “Alright, this young master has gained a bit of weight recently. You weren’t crushed to death by me, were you, Teacher Qi?”
Qi Ye shook his head and smiled: “I’m okay, barely able to breathe.”
“Speechless.” Shi Ran made a face at him and sat down beside him again, supporting himself on the edge of the bed with his hands, asking, “You really don’t mind physical contact with people, right? If it’s true, you have to tell me. I’ll be more careful in the future. No need to be embarrassed, everyone has their own likes and dislikes.”
“No.” Qi Ye said softly.
“But I always feel like you’re a bit resistant to it.” Although Shi Ran was slow, he had his own intuition. Suddenly thinking of something, he leaned closer again, “Could it be that you only dislike me!”
Too close!
Their noses were almost touching, he could hear his breathing, Qi Ye’s heart was jumping nervously. He grabbed the bed sheet tightly, to prevent Shi Ran from seeing it, of course he couldn’t see it, to prevent him from misunderstanding, Qi Ye didn’t move a bit, calmly saying, “How is that possible.”
Shi Ran looked at him searchingly for a while, then slowly moved away, “Yeah, if you really disliked me, why would you help me with tutoring.”
Qi Ye secretly breathed a sigh of relief and turned his face away.
Thanks to the cold expression he had cultivated for many years, Qi Ye quickly regained his composure and softly said to Shi Ran, “I was just startled, like you suddenly getting close, it’s not that I dislike you.”
“Is that so?” Shi Ran scratched his hair. “But suddenly getting close is fun, otherwise, do I have to give a warning or something, like teasing a kid.”
That’s true, Qi Ye thought he made sense, and couldn’t help but sigh, “It’s still because I don’t have many friends, so I don’t have any experience.”
Shi Ran thought about how, since high school, Qi Ye had really been alone at school and didn’t have much of a presence at school. Shi Ran could say a few words to even the most unfamiliar classmates in the class, greeting them on the road or borrowing homework to look at, but with Qi Ye, he couldn’t remember if he had ever spoken to him.
Qi Ye walked hurriedly, his head slightly lowered, with a posture of refusing to communicate.
Of course, everything changed after he saved him by the basketball stand where the orange peel incident happened.
For other classmates, Qi Ye was still an invisible person, but for Shi Ran, he was already the best friend.
He’s really great. It was the first time Shi Ran had met such a good person.
“Spend more time with me in the future, and you’ll get used to it quickly.” Shi Ran pointed to himself, “I’m a pretty good friend, too.”
“Yeah, I know.” No one knew it better than him.
Qi Ye had dinner at Shi Ran’s house. Grandpa Shi was very hospitable and made four or five dishes, but the taste… was not very good.
It was strange, Grandpa’s roasted sweet potatoes and popcorn were so delicious.
Qi Ye ate and took some. Grandpa Shi insisted on packing him some white radishes, Chinese cabbage, pumpkin, and a handful of green onions that he grew himself.
Qi Ye’s mother was shocked when she saw what Shi Ran had brought back. “Oh my, did they grow all this themselves?”
Qi Ye nodded: “Isn’t it amazing?”
“It really is, the vegetables are growing so well, I want to get a plot of land to grow some myself. It saves money, and it’s safe for the family to eat.” Mom kept saying.
“Madam, please take a look at the flowers on the balcony first.” Dad reminded her in time.
Mom glanced at him: “So what, flowers and vegetables are different.”
“They are different, growing vegetables is much harder.” Dad smiled and asked Qi Ye, “Is it from the family of the classmate you’re studying with?”
Qi Ye nodded.
“Then should we send something over too? Our son is eating and taking from them.” Mom thought for a moment and immediately clapped her hands, “Does your classmate like to eat chocolate? A friend of mine just traveled abroad, I’ll ask her to buy some more.”
“Anything is fine.” Qi Ye smiled, took his water glass to the kitchen to refill, “I’m going to read.”
“Okay, go ahead.” Mom took her phone to find that friend, muttering, “Is just chocolate a bit too little? What else should I buy? Something too expensive isn’t good, I’ll ask what specialties they have over there, preferably something to eat.”
“What you buy isn’t important, it’s all about the thought between friends.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Hey, you, why don’t you pay attention to the main point of what people are saying?” Dad said, “Friend, our son has made a friend, what could be more important than that.”
“Hey, that’s true. Other people are stressed out as they approach senior year, but our son is getting happier and more relaxed.” Mom nodded with her arms crossed. “This is a good friend to make.”
“Mom, Dad, I’m back!” Qi Xue’s bright voice came from the entrance. She went into the house and yelled that she was thirsty, rushing to the kitchen to find water.
“Xiao Xue, your brother has made a friend recently, look, they even sent so many vegetables.” Mom said hastily.
Qi Xue glanced at them and nodded: “Not bad, finally someone can stand that silly boy.”
“It’s a friend, not a girlfriend.” Mom corrected. As she walked over, she smelled the alcohol on her daughter. “Why are you drinking so much again?”
“Don’t mention it, graduation is coming soon, one gathering after another, I can’t refuse any of them. They even said they were accommodating my schedule and didn’t make it a late-night gathering, how could I not go?” Qi Xue leaned back on the sofa. The blush on her cheeks was like dyed red rouge.
“Qi Ye is starting to make friends, right? Tell him to be careful, one or two friends are enough, don’t be as popular as your sister.”
“The haves are dying of overeating, and the have-nots are dying of starvation.” Mom shook her head and sat next to her. “Are you feeling bad from drinking so much? Why didn’t you call us to pick you up?”
“Someone is sending me.” Qi Xue leaned on Mom’s shoulder, her blush like rouge.
Qi Ye heard the noise and came out of the room. Dad also poured honey water and handed it over. Mom carefully fed her the cup. “Are you still eating dinner tonight?”
“Keep it for her, in case she wakes up in the middle of the night and is hungry again.” Dad said, “I’ll cook. Xiao Ye, carry your sister to her room.”
“Okay.” Qi Ye was already very familiar with this. After Qi Xue finished drinking, he squatted down in front of her.
Qi Xue leaned on her younger brother’s back in a daze. “Hey, I heard you made a friend. Bring them to see your sister when you have time. Don’t just show them to Mom and Dad, got it?”
“Mom and Dad didn’t see them either.” Qi Ye whispered in protest.
“I can tell at a glance whether they’re a good kid or a bad kid.” Qi Xue patted Qi Ye’s shoulder, “Trust me, bring them to me first, got it?”
“Got it.” Qi Ye responded helplessly.
