Qi Ye felt for the first time that the world was so unpredictable. He had never imagined that he could have any interaction with Shi Ran, but now, they could actually study together.
To be precise, he was tutoring Shi Ran.
Qi Ye was extremely grateful that although he wasn’t naturally gifted, he had never been perfunctory about his studies. At least after understanding Shi Ran’s foundation, he was confident that he could improve his grades.
Qi Ye made a set of test papers based on his foundation. After Shi Ran finished, he was completely unconfident and asked miserably, “Am I hopeless?”
Qi Ye resisted the urge to touch his hair to comfort him and said calmly, “It’s okay.”
“I know I’m very bad now.” Shi Ran suddenly grabbed Qi Ye’s hands with both hands, “But Teacher Qi, please don’t give up on me, okay?”
Teacher Qi was so frightened that he almost rolled off his seat, shaking his head repeatedly, “No, no, I won’t give up on you.”
“Great kindness is beyond words.” Shi Ran let go of his hand and clasped his fists at him.
Qi Ye didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, trying his best to hide the throbbing in his heart with a smile.
To be honest, Shi Ran’s foundation was very weak. If according to Qi Ye’s previous plan, tutoring was only on Saturdays and Sundays, the time would not be enough at all. Qi Ye thought that in addition to Saturdays and Sundays, he should also spare an hour each in the morning and evening from Monday to Friday. The evening time would be mainly used for reviewing and checking.
Fortunately, Shi Ran had always been very cooperative. No matter how much workload Qi Ye increased for him, he would never make excuses to shirk.
When he was in the mood to study, Shi Ran would take the initiative to stop him, “How about adding half an hour each in the morning and evening? I can handle it.”
Qi Ye shook his head: “No, reducing too much sleep time is not worth it.”
Shi Ran sighed, “The initial part feels very easy, but it gets harder and harder later. Especially some questions that you explained to me several times, but I actually forgot how to do them during the exam. I feel like I have to spend more time.”
“Take your time, the rhythm of learning is very important. If the habit that you finally developed is disrupted, your brain will be even more confused later.” Qi Ye said softly, “Compared to before, you have improved a lot now.”
Shi Ran sighed and lieon the table.
Qi Ye probably thought that he really had a problem. Even Shi Ran, who was so frustrated, Qi Ye actually found him very cute.
“Ah!” Shi Ran suddenly jumped up as if he had been pricked by a needle, then sat down holding his head, constantly messing up his hair with both hands, “I’m really too much.”
Qi Ye quickly asked: “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
“No, I almost forgot.” Shi Ran said weakly, “Adding my study time is equal to adding yours. You originally wanted to help me, but now you’re going to be more burdened by me.”
Then he immediately got up, bowed deeply to Qi Ye, and apologized loudly: “Teacher Qi, I’m sorry!”
At this moment, there were no other customers in the cake shop except them, but the shop owner was there, pursing his lips and smiling as he looked at them, probably thinking that children always make funny jokes.
Although there was only one audience, as a real socially awkward person, the sense of shame in public places was particularly easy to be stimulated. He quickly went to help Shi Ran: “Okay, okay, you don’t need to mind this.”
Shi Ran wasn’t just pretending, he sincerely apologized. After he sat back in his seat, he said to Qi Ye: “If you feel tired now and don’t want to help me, it’s okay, just tell me. I won’t blame you, you’ve already helped me a lot.”
Qi Ye said lightly: “I will definitely do what I promised, and I hate giving up halfway the most.”
Then, he paused and said: “Have you not paid attention to my ranking? My ranking has been rising recently.”
“Really?” Shi Ran showed a smile.
“Yeah, we’ve almost learned all the new knowledge now. I’ll help you organize the content from junior high school and the first two years of high school, and then explain it to you. This is also the best way to review. And thinking that I can’t mislead you, I will review more carefully.” Qi Ye said with a smile, “In fact, there are many knowledge points that I didn’t fully understand before. I only became clearer after explaining them to you. So don’t think that I’m helping you unilaterally, we are helping each other.”
Shi Ran looked at him with suspicion: “Are you not comforting me?”
Qi Ye smiled. He was really grateful to Shi Ran. Although he hadn’t been perfunctory about his studies before, he had only completed them in a regular manner. He didn’t have much enthusiasm for learning itself. Now, because of tutoring Shi Ran, he had also installed self-motivation in learning and didn’t need anyone’s supervision at all.
“I’m not kind to that extent.” Qi Ye said, pointing to the test paper in front of him, “Do your homework quickly.”
“Okay.” Shi Ran took a big gulp of milk tea and quickly plunged into the analysis of the equation.
Qi Ye did his own questions. After an unknown amount of time, the desk was gently tapped. Shi Ran showed him a smile of asking for help, and then slid to his side, “Teacher Qi, this question is stuck again.”
Qi Ye smelled the milky aroma, probably because he had milk candy after the milk tea. Qi Ye’s hand on the table unconsciously tightened.
This child Shi Ran is not afraid of hard work in learning, but he is very afraid of being hungry.
After a few times, Qi Ye had experience. Every time he brought Exam questions, he also brought all kinds of snacks.
For Teacher Qi, he was not afraid that Shi Ran’s foundation was poor or that he was lazy and shamelessin learning. He was afraid of this classmate’s frivolous approach and touch.
“Oh, you, you sit across from me, I’ll explain it to you.” Qi Ye tried his best to pretend to be calm and pointed to the opposite side.
“Teacher Qi, you’re not angry with me, are you? I know you’ve explained this question several times, but I promise this is the last time, you can’t be angry, roar.” Shi Ran bowed and approached him.
Qi Ye endured it until his voice changed, “I’m not angry, you go to the opposite side, it’s easier for me to explain the question.”
“Okay!” Shi Ran nodded vigorously and slid back to his seat.
While Qi Ye was looking at the question, Shi Ran quickly peeled off the wrapper of a candy and put the milk candy into his mouth.
Qi Ye explained the question to him, making sure he understood it, before putting down the fountain pen in his hand, rubbing his hands, sitting up straight, and saying to Shi Ran: “Can I make a request?”
“Of course!” Shi Ran nodded.
“That is, when explaining the questions, can classmate Shi Ran keep a little distance from me?” Qi Ye touched his nose and said, “It’s not that I hate you doing this, it’s just that my attention is easily distracted. If you suddenly get close, I will easily forget what to say. Can you understand?”
Shi Ran blinked his eyes with some confusion, “How far do you want to keep?”
Qi Ye gestured, “Just like this now, face to face is fine.”
“It’s not okay to sit over there just now?”
Qi Ye nodded painfully: “Yeah.”
“Oh, I see.” But Shi Ran wanted to confirm again, “It’s just purely because of the attention problem, not that you hate physical contact, right.”
Qi Ye: “Oh, that’s right.”
“So you don’t need to pay attention to it outside of study time, right.” Shi Ran was innocent.
Qi Ye thought too much and easily thought crookedly. His throat suddenly felt a little itchy, and it took him a long time to squeeze out a “Yeah”.
“That’s fine!” Shi Ran clapped his hands suddenly, “Yes, you should be more respectful to the teacher when studying, I remember it!”
Qi Ye nodded and quickly went to drink water.
