Double A In Line Chapter 9
byChapter 9: You Think I Want to Live With You?
What do you mean, “shady people”? Lin Sheng felt extremely uncomfortable when he heard those words.
“Ji Chen is my friend,” he emphasized with a frown.
“He might be your friend, but this is my dorm,” Cheng Yan said dissatisfied. “What right do you have to let him in?”
“By the right that this is a public space, and by the right that I live in this dorm too. You’re acting like this is your private territory.” The anger in his heart slowly surged up, and Lin Sheng’s voice naturally grew much louder.
Rich pheromones were released due to his emotions, making him, who was already starting to flare up with anger, even more irritable.
A sweet floral scent permeated the air. After Cheng Yan smelled it, his body reacted instinctively. A sweet, slightly bitter fragrance emanated from him, mixing into the already cluttered air.
“Can you please respect my privacy? If my things go missing, will you take responsibility?” Under the sway of his emotions, Cheng Yan spoke without thinking.
“What do you mean by that?” Hearing this, Lin Sheng’s face instantly darkened. Wasn’t this clearly implying that Ji Chen was a thief?
“Exactly what I said. Are you deaf?” Cheng Yan actually realized he had misspoken, but in this situation, he didn’t want to show any weakness at all, so he simply doubled down.
“What right do you have to slander my friend? Apologize to him.” Lin Sheng took a step forward, his fists clenched tightly. If he dared to say one more word…
“You can know a person’s face but not their heart. Who knows what your friend is like in private? Maybe—Bang!” Before Cheng Yan could finish, Lin Sheng’s fist slammed directly into his face.
Cheng Yan was stunned for a moment by the blow. Once he regained his senses, he lunged at Lin Sheng with a ferocious expression.
“You’re actually hitting me? You really are a piece of work!” As he lunged, he didn’t forget to hurl insults.
He originally thought he could get a few hits in, but to his surprise, he was quickly pinned against the wall by Lin Sheng.
“You framed my friend. Giving you just one punch is letting you off easy,” Lin Sheng said with an ill-tempered expression. “Apologize.”
“Let go of me.” Cheng Yan struggled violently. With his hands restricted, he raised his leg to try and kick.
Seeing this, Lin Sheng first used his knee to pin the leg Cheng Yan was trying to move, then took another step forward to suppress the other leg, rendering him completely immobile.
Because of this, the two of them were naturally much closer.
“Apologize my ass!” Cheng Yan exerted a sudden burst of strength and slammed his forehead into Lin Sheng’s. Caught off guard by the sudden impact, Lin Sheng’s grip loosened for a moment, but he immediately grabbed Cheng Yan’s escaping hands again. Then, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck.
Seeing his limbs locked, Cheng Yan grew desperate and simply started using his teeth to bite.
“Let go! Are you a dog?” Lin Sheng roared in annoyance as his gland was bitten. However, Cheng Yan bit down hard and wouldn’t let go even after taking a punch to the stomach. Instead, taking advantage of the moment his hands were freed, he pushed with all his might, causing Lin Sheng to lean back. He then used his full weight to slam into him, pinning Lin Sheng to the floor.
“So what if you have an officer for a father? You still can’t beat me,” Cheng Yan said breathlessly, pressing down on Lin Sheng with all his strength.
Lin Sheng felt humiliated being pinned down, so he simply followed Cheng Yan’s example and started biting the back of Cheng Yan’s neck as well. He struggled with his hands, but his technique was much higher than Cheng Yan’s. He soon found an opportunity to break free and continued scuffling with Cheng Yan.
By the time the two of them separated, exhausted, they were still glaring at each other, refusing to back down.
“If the counselor hadn’t been away for the last two days, I would have changed dorms long ago. Looking at you every day is just irritating.” His physical strength was spent, so Cheng Yan started using his tongue instead.
“Fine, you want to change dorms? Let’s change today. You think I want to live with you?” Lin Sheng retorted.
“Then let’s change. Let’s go right now. You think I don’t want to?” Staggering a few steps while holding his knees, Cheng Yan gave Lin Sheng a fierce glare, turned around, and walked out the door toward the teaching building.
Lin Sheng followed with a look of rage, thinking about how he had actually thought this guy was decent this morning. He must have been blind.
The two walked side by side on the path to the teaching building, yet they deliberately kept a distance from each other out of sheer loathing. By the time they entered the counselor’s office, the pheromones leaking from their anger had not yet dissipated.
“Come in,” the counselor said, looking up from the documents he was organizing after hearing the knock.
The next moment, along with the sound of the door opening, two types of sweet pheromones flooded in. Then, the counselor saw the two of them with bruised faces and disheveled clothes.
Seeing their appearance and sensing the pheromones now filling the office, the counselor’s heart skipped a beat.
These two students couldn’t have gotten into a fight, could they?
“You two, is there something I can help you with?” he asked in a cautious tone.
No way, encountering this kind of thing right at the start of the semester.
“We want to change dorms!” the two said in unison, their tones extremely firm. After speaking, they gave each other a look of utter disgust.
“Calm down first, you two. Are you roommates? What is the reason you want to change dorms?” the counselor asked. “The semester only started two days ago. Is there some kind of misunderstanding between you?”
“No misunderstanding. There’s just something wrong with his head,” Lin Sheng said coldly.
“And you’re so much better?” Hearing this, Cheng Yan turned and glared at Lin Sheng.
Seeing their behavior, the counselor felt a headache coming on, not just because of their seemingly irreconcilable conflict, but also because…
“But… students, the school has no vacant dorms left for the time being this year,” the counselor said with some difficulty. He silently added in his heart that no one else was like them, making such a scene only two days into the semester.
“But doesn’t the school usually prepare backup dorms to prevent unexpected situations?” Lin Sheng, who was quite familiar with the situation at Typhon United University, asked with a frown.
Previously, he hadn’t considered the backup dorms because his conflict with Cheng Yan wasn’t particularly serious, but now he felt that even breathing in the same room as this brainless roommate was unbearable.
“But we expanded enrollment this year,” the counselor said helplessly.
“Are there no other students who want to change dorms?” Cheng Yan asked irritably.
“It’s too early. Since I started working here, I’ve never had a student request a dorm change only two days after the start of the term.” The counselor’s expression was complicated. “If you really want to change, you can either wait a few months for the school’s new dormitory building to be completed, or you can find other students who want to change dorms yourselves and negotiate with them.”
This statement silenced both of them.
No matter how irrational they were, they knew it was highly unlikely that anyone else would be at odds with their roommate just two days into the semester.
“Actually, there’s no need to be in such a hurry to change dorms. Maybe it’s just because the two of you haven’t adjusted to each other yet. If you spend more time together, you might even become good friends.” Seeing their silence, the counselor advised them earnestly.
Even though he knew he was talking nonsense—since these two were at the point of physical fighting, this wasn’t something that could be solved by “adjusting”—it was the only way he could comfort them.
Unsurprisingly, as soon as he finished speaking, he received a categorical rebuttal from both of them.
“Impossible!”
Seeing how stubborn they were and that there seemed to be no room for compromise, the counselor could only sigh secretly.
“How about this, which dorm are you from? Register first. I’ll report your situation to the school, and once there’s news, I’ll notify you.” He had no choice but to take out a form for them to register their names and dorm number, hoping these two students would let the matter drop for now.
He had originally thought he would need to persuade them further. After all, what kind of easy-going person would demand a dorm change right at the start of the term? To his surprise, the two boys hesitated for a moment before accepting the proposal, obediently writing down their information in the registry.
Aside from the moment they glared at each other because they both reached for the pen at the same time, one person mocking the other for their ugly handwriting, and the way they jostled each other at the door because neither wanted to be behind the other, the whole process was quite peaceful. At least he, the innocent bystander, wasn’t caught in the crossfire.
Before they left, he specifically reminded them to go to the school infirmary to check their external injuries. But looking at their behavior, he knew his words were likely wasted.
Only after they left did the counselor casually flip through the information they had registered. Since they had fought, even if it didn’t look serious, it definitely needed to be reported.
When he saw the names, he froze for a moment, then quickly pulled up the student information on his optical computer.
“Lin Sheng, Cheng Yan… they are actually the third and fifth ranked students from this year’s entrance exam.” The counselor murmured to himself in surprise. “It turns out even top students can be this much trouble.”
Because they couldn’t change dorms for the time being, the two had no choice but to endure living together.
However, compared to before, there was now absolutely no communication between them. Upon returning to the dorm, they simply kept the privacy screens around their beds closed all day, acting as if the other person didn’t exist.
Except for washing up, the public space in the dorm was hardly used for the rest of the day.
Before logging into the game that evening, Lin Sheng went to the bathroom and happened to encounter Cheng Yan opening his privacy screen and walking out.
What bad luck, Lin Sheng thought as he put on his holographic helmet.
It wasn’t until he logged into the game and met up with his teammates that his mood improved slightly, though his expression remained sour.
Cheng Yan was naturally no different from Lin Sheng. Even his avatar, which was almost entirely covered in animal fur, couldn’t completely hide his foul mood.
“What’s wrong? Did you two have a fight?” Ji Chen, who was still in an excited state, was startled by the two grumpy faces as soon as he logged on.
“No, it has nothing to do with him. I just ran into a foul-mouthed idiot today, so I’m in a bad mood,” Lin Sheng replied irritably.
“It has nothing to do with him. I just ran into a violent maniac who only knows how to use his fists today. We just had a fight,” Cheng Yan said almost simultaneously with Lin Sheng.
