    Chapter 47

The match between FHM and DIE began. This was the first match of the playoffs, and the venue was packed with spectators.

DIE, a team always brimming with confidence but whose track record in the top eight was consistently underwhelming, had previously stumbled badly against FHM.

They dreamed of using this match to completely wipe away that shame.

Although their pre-match trash talk was lacking, they had absolute confidence in winning this game!

“In terms of match experience, we are still more seasoned.”

“That’s right. The reason we lost to them back then was because there was still some time before the official competition, and we hadn’t trained much. But the us now is not the us from back then!”

“They must think we’re completely weak now. Do you think they’ll be shocked by the us today?”

“I’m really looking forward to their reaction when they realize they underestimated us. Will they be running around like ants on a hot pan?”

    “Hahahahaha!”

DIE’s players were already having an internal climax before the game even started. Instead of stopping them, the coach encouraged them: “Exactly, you must maintain this mindset. Go on, win 3-0!”

And the match really did end 3-0, only the team that scored 3 points was FHM, not DIE.

For three consecutive games, no matter what heroes both sides banned or picked, the final result was that DIE’s Marksman was relentlessly targeted by Wei Xiao, pinned to the ground and fiercely rubbed, unable to recover at all.

In Wen Shi Yu’s eyes, the DIE team was difficult to evaluate. They had operational skill, but not much. They had team awareness, but not much either. They were decent in all aspects, but not outstanding enough in any single area to cause headaches.

    To give two examples:

WI’s players were not technically top-tier, but their Jungler had an excellent mind and rhythm, everyone followed commands, and their teamwork was impeccable.

KPI’s players were technically superb. Even if their teamwork was lacking, they could still achieve unexpected results through individual skill.

But DIE was truly mediocre in every aspect, yet somehow managed to make the playoffs every season. They were like a hurdle, a touchstone, placed between the top eight and the top sixteen—winning against DIE didn’t guarantee entry into the top eight, but losing to DIE guaranteed you wouldn’t make the top eight.

Therefore, before the match began, Wen Shi Yu only gave Wei Xiao four words: “Enjoy the game.”

Wei Xiao enjoyed it. He absolutely enjoyed it!

Playing against a team like DIE, which essentially only had one core carry, all he needed to do was focus on ganking that carry. No need to think, just showcase his mechanics the entire time!

Ganking from the brush, ganking under the tower, ganking from behind—ganking in every style imaginable.

Just like that, a proper top eight showdown was turned into a gank tutorial by Wei Xiao!

Even the commentators couldn’t hold back toward the end: “…Who can tell if this is strategy or personal grudge?”

“Hahahahaha!” The other commentator was amused, and after laughing for a moment, he continued, “Wei Wan is truly skilled at targeted attacks. Although his main hero should be Overlord Blade, his style is very compatible with the Time Tracker. No matter what he plays, he has that Time Tracker aura.”

“That’s true. Hopefully, the players on DIE’s side can stabilize their mentality. After all, this is only the first game!”

If DIE’s players lacked anything, it wasn’t a good mentality.

When they lost the first game, this is what they thought:

“They got into form very quickly, didn’t they? It’s fine, we’ve entered our form too!”

“We’ll let them have this point. We are guaranteed to win the rest!”

When they lost the second game, this is what they thought:

    “Reverse sweep, go go go!”

“They won’t get another point after this!”

    After losing the third game…

    “FHM is indeed formidable…”

    “Indeed…”

    “Hmm…”

Losing three games in a row, and in the exact same manner, and still believing they could win was no longer confidence—it was arrogance. Although, in the eyes of other teams, DIE was already unbelievably arrogant, having the disease of a champion team without the destiny of one.

FHM barely reviewed these three games.

After the match, Wen Shi Yu asked Wei Xiao, “How do you feel?”

Wei Xiao’s reply was: “I feel like I’ll be overconfident when I play KPI.”

FHM’s next opponent was KPI, last year’s runner-up and the old rival of the champion team WI.

They were also the team FHM played the most scrims against and knew each other best.

Wei Xiao’s words essentially meant—DIE’s strength was far inferior to KPI’s, and playing them would affect his form for tomorrow’s match against KPI.

Wen Shi Yu chuckled lightly: “It’s fine. Go back and play two games with me, and you’ll settle down.”

“I’ll be very settled then.” Wei Xiao looked at the curve of Wen Shi Yu’s lips and couldn’t help but curve his own. He was already eager to go back and 1v1 Wen Shi Yu.

    However, wasn’t there a post-match interview?

Sure enough, Wen Shi Yu’s next sentence was: “Just don’t get overconfident during the post-match interview.”

“Okay.” Wei Xiao obediently agreed, smiling, “I’ll listen to you.”
