[Conan] Black And Silver: The Bond Of Rivals Chapter 15
bySilent Probing · Gaze from the Shadows
The door closed softly, and the room returned to complete silence, leaving only the faint sound of the night wind brushing against the windowpane.
Gin withdrew his cold gaze from the door and turned back to Shuichi Akai. The scrutiny in his green eyes had not faded, but now held a deeper sense of amusement.
“That child…” he began slowly, his voice low. “Do you really intend to drag him into what’s between us?”
Shuichi Akai frowned slightly. “He’s just helping with information. He has nothing to do with you and me.”
“Nothing to do with us?” Gin let out a low laugh, stepping closer. His footsteps sounded exceptionally clear in the empty room. “Shuichi Akai, we both know that brat has never been ordinary. He can follow your train of thought, see through the Organization’s schemes, and even stay calm in front of me… That’s not something a normal elementary school student can do.”
He didn’t expose Conan Edogawa’s true identity, but every word hinted that he had long since seen through the anomaly beneath the surface.
Gin never underestimated any opponent, even if they appeared to be a child.
Shuichi Akai remained silent.
He couldn’t argue, and he couldn’t admit it; he could only keep quiet.
In Gin’s eyes, this silence was another form of admission.
“You don’t need to hide it for him.” Gin stopped, only a step away from Shuichi Akai. “I have no interest in touching him right now. After all, I don’t want to make things difficult for you.”
As the last sentence fell, the air suddenly became tense and heavy with an underlying intimacy.
Shuichi Akai’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. He looked away, trying to avoid that overly burning gaze. “You don’t have to do this.”
“Don’t have to?” Gin reached out and lightly touched his chin, signaling him to look back. “I decide for myself what I do. I won’t bother Conan, I won’t clash with the FBI, and I won’t disrupt the balance you have now… all because of you.”
His fingertips were slightly cool, but his grip carried a firm resolve that wouldn’t allow for escape.
“I can restrain my edge for you, I can temporarily hold my hand for you, and I can stay in this quiet place… for you.”
“But you must give me a response.”
Shuichi Akai’s heart jolted.
The man before him was the most cold-blooded, decisive, and uncontrollable killer in the Black Organization—a dangerous target the FBI had pursued for years.
Yet at this moment, he was expressing the burning feelings in his heart in the most persistent way possible.
Reason screamed at him to back away, to hold his ground, and to draw a clear line.
But his emotions were like vines, spreading wildly through his heart, tangling so tightly he could barely breathe.
“Gin, our positions are different.” Shuichi Akai’s voice was slightly hoarse as he made one last struggle. “I am FBI, and you belong to the darkness. That will never change.”
“Never?” Gin raised an eyebrow, a flash of determined amusement in his eyes. “Nothing in this world is forever. Identities can be discarded, positions can be re-chosen, the Organization can be left behind, and the FBI can be kept at a distance…”
He leaned in slowly, his forehead nearly touching Shuichi Akai’s. Their breaths mingled, their scents intertwining.
“If you are willing, I can give up everything for you.”
These words were too heavy, too scorching, leaving Shuichi Akai nearly dazed.
Just then, light footsteps sounded outside the door again. This time it wasn’t Conan, but Jodie Starling’s voice.
“Shu, can I come in? James has news.”
Shuichi Akai took the opportunity to gently push Gin away. He steadied his erratic breathing and said in a deep voice, “Come in.”
Jodie Starling entered, her eyes instinctively scanning the two of them. She keenly sensed the tense and intimate atmosphere in the room but was tactful enough not to ask questions, directly presenting the documents in her hand.
“Headquarters just sent instructions regarding Gin’s disposal… For now, he is under your full custody. No public disclosure, no interrogation, no transfer.” Jodie Starling paused, her tone complex. “It seems they also understand that only you can keep him stable.”
Shuichi Akai took the documents, his fingertips tightening slightly.
Even FBI headquarters had tacitly accepted the special restraining relationship between him and Gin.
After Jodie Starling left, the door closed again.
Gin leaned back on the sofa, watching Shuichi Akai’s slightly weary profile. He spoke leisurely, “See? The whole world sees it clearly. You’re the only one still lying to yourself.”
Shuichi Akai did not look back. His voice was low and tired. “I’m just doing what I must do.”
“What you must do has never been to push me away.”
Gin stood up and approached him gently from behind, his voice uncharacteristically tender.
“Shuichi, stop running.”
“I won’t hurt you, I won’t force you, and I won’t make things difficult for you…”
“I only want to stay by your side.”
The night grew deeper, and the lights were soft.
The boundary between light and darkness completely blurred at this moment.
This fated entanglement had long since reached the point of no return.
