Chapter 4: The Invitation. Button Up Your Shirt.

Yu You rested for two or three days straight, during which Shi Sanlin sent him an electronic script.

Calling it a script was generous; it was barely half a page of text with a total of four or five lines of dialogue.

This was a high school drama, and he was playing a minor character who secretly admired the female lead. His role was to deliver an umbrella on a rainy day and secretly leave cold medicine in the sick female lead’s desk. His purpose was to cause a misunderstanding, sparking jealousy between the young couple, making him more of a plot device or background figure.

After all, for a small role secured through connections with Star Sky Entertainment, having a few lines of dialogue was already a bonus.

From the director’s perspective, handing out such a small role satisfied the investors, and even if the connected actor performed poorly, it wouldn’t matter much. They could just close their eyes, endure it, and pretend not to notice.

Shi Sanlin drove Yu You to the set, explaining on the way, “This drama is fully invested by Star Sky Entertainment. The female lead is a newcomer, but she has significant backing—she’s Mr. Jiang’s cousin, Jiang Mingyan. All your scenes are with her. It will take two days to shoot. The crew provides accommodation, but the hotel rooms are extremely tight. There’s only one single room left. I have other things to do tomorrow, so you’ll be fine staying here alone, right?”

Yu You obediently replied, “Shi Ge, I’m fine.”

“That’s good. I was worried at first that Mr. Jiang would blacklist you because of the trending topic. I asked my sister several times but got no news. I was on tenterhooks for two days, but thankfully, everything turned out okay.”

Shi Sanlin couldn’t help but feel relieved thinking about it. Then, he suddenly remembered something and turned his head during a break in driving. “Oh, right, Xiao Yu, did you spray cologne today? The Iris Flower scent is particularly strong.”

Yu You’s hands rested on his knees, sitting properly. He was stunned by the question. “Iris Flower… cologne?”

Shi Sanlin said, “Yeah. It’s a closed space in the car, so it’s quite noticeable, but it smells nice. When did you buy this cologne? I don’t remember you wearing it before.”

Yu You’s heart rate accelerated, and a sense of unease rose within him. He hastily tugged at his collar, lowered his head, and sniffed lightly.

A faint, pure fragrance, like clouds and snow pellets, slowly diffused, refreshing and pleasant.

It was the scent of his Pheromone, seeping from his skin.

He was too familiar with this scent, and since he hadn’t shown any symptoms of a Heat Period these past two days, he had relaxed and failed to notice it immediately.

“Yes, I sprayed Iris Flower cologne. Maybe I accidentally used too much.” Yu You’s heart hammered like a drum, but he maintained a calm and composed expression, smiling. “The director shouldn’t dislike Iris Flower like Mr. Jiang, right?”

“I haven’t heard anything like that,” Shi Sanlin chuckled. “Someone like Mr. Jiang is quite rare.”

The car fell silent. Shi Sanlin focused on driving and didn’t continue the conversation.

Yu You, however, was no longer calm. He grew nervous and uneasy, cracking open the sealed car window slightly to ventilate.

How could this body have Pheromones?

Could it be… that his physical constitution had also transmigrated with him?

Yu You’s fingers curled slightly, and he bit his lip, feeling lost and helpless for the first time. He couldn’t imagine what he would do in this world without inhibitors.

He wondered if it was psychosomatic, but he felt a faint, throbbing heat starting at the side of his neck.

Time didn’t allow Yu You to dwell on it. Shi Sanlin quickly drove to the set and took Yu You to meet the director.

It was a break in filming. The director had been informed in advance, and when Shi Sanlin brought the person over, he merely gave a lukewarm nod and told Yu You to wait nearby for the styling team.

The floor manager reminded him, “Director, Fang You is here.”

The director snapped irritably, “He was the only one late yesterday, and he’s late again today, making everyone wait for him! Is he going to act or not?”

Fang You’s agent accompanied him, offering the director a face full of apologetic smiles. “I’m so sorry, Director. Someone must have leaked the hotel address. We’ve had so many fans blocking him these past two days, and there are no other hotels nearby…”

Fang You, who started in a talent show and transitioned from an idol to acting, was the third male lead in this drama. He had recently gained sudden popularity after a short drama where he played a devoted male lead aired, landing him on countless trending topics. Yesterday, some people were even speculating if he was Jiang Xunzhou’s rumored dating partner.

“I apologize, Director. I’m truly sorry for causing trouble.”

Fang You also bowed repeatedly in apology nearby.

The director’s expression softened slightly. “Alright, hurry up and go get styled.”

According to the schedule provided by the coordinator, after the scene between the female lead and the third male lead, Fang You, it was supposed to be the scene where Yu You’s character’s secret crush was discovered. Now, due to Fang You’s tardiness, the subsequent scenes had to be rearranged.

However, trouble arose again while Fang You was getting styled. He was dissatisfied with one thing and felt another needed changing, eventually leading to an argument between his agent and the crew staff.

When the news got back, the director started losing his temper and sent the on-site producer to rush them repeatedly.

Shi Sanlin and Yu You stood in the corner, ignored.

    “C-can we even film today?…”

Shi Sanlin had never encountered such a situation and was dumbfounded.

Yu You had a guess in his mind and quietly said, “This drama is adapted from a novel. I found the original book and read it these past two days. The third male lead’s character is very controversial. Fang You just got popular from a short drama where he was the lead, so he might not want to continue acting in this role, but he doesn’t want to pay the penalty for breach of contract. So he’s pulling these minor stunts, hoping the production team will fire him, which would also gain him sympathy from fans.”

Shi Sanlin hesitated. “You don’t think so, do you?”

Yu You tugged at his collar, slightly distracted, and asked, “Shi Ge, do you feel stuffy in here?”

Shi Sanlin nodded, puzzled. “It is quite stuffy, but that’s how indoor studio shoots are. You’ll get used to it.”

The on-site producer, who was in charge of rushing the actors, quickly ran back. “Director, Fang You is ready and will be here immediately!”

He then leaned close to the director and whispered, “Mr. Jiang just arrived.”

The director was startled. “Why is Mr. Jiang here?”

The on-site producer said, “I heard that Miss Jiang got impatient waiting in the Restroom and called Mr. Jiang.”

As soon as the news broke that Jiang Xunzhou, the main investor, was coming to the set, Fang You’s agent stopped arguing, and stopped demanding to find her own stylist to change the makeup. She immediately conceded that they could proceed.

The next scene finally began smoothly.

Yu You also saw the legendary biggest connection, the female lead Jiang Mingyan—Mr. Jiang Xunzhou’s cousin.

She didn’t look much like Jiang Xunzhou.

Yu You took a couple more glances, commenting internally.

The styling team staff hurried Yu You away to change clothes and apply makeup. Halfway there, they ran into Jiang Xunzhou, who was surrounded by people like a star.

Jiang Xunzhou looked like he had rushed straight from a meeting, wearing a classic blazer suit, his leather shoes gleaming, and his steps steady, followed by a large entourage.

He noticed Yu You, stopped, and his eyes flashed with surprise. “Why are you here?”

Yu You had seen Jiang Xunzhou from afar, but there was only one path here, and he couldn’t avoid him. He sighed internally at his bad luck, but smiled sweetly and greeted him obediently, “Hello, Mr. Jiang. I’m here to film.”

Jiang Xunzhou’s gaze toward Yu You became unexpectedly meaningful.

Although he didn’t say a word, the meaning in his eyes was accurately conveyed to Yu You.

—I told you to put those thoughts away. Why are you still chasing me all the way here?

Yu You silently clenched his fingers, but his smile remained compliant. “Well, Mr. Jiang, I’ll go get styled now.”

Jiang Xunzhou responded with a lazy hum and continued walking toward the set with his people.

    “You know Mr. Jiang?”

The staff member leading Yu You asked curiously.

Yu You replied, “I’m an artist under Star Sky Entertainment.”

    “Oh, oh.”

Because of that little interlude, the staff member’s attitude instantly changed, becoming warm and attentive. He even specifically reminded the makeup artist to treat Yu You well.

Yu You changed into a white shirt and straight Western-style school trousers. His demeanor was clean and refreshing. Since he was already young, this styling was particularly suitable, giving him an immediate sense of youthful vitality.

He followed the on-site producer back to the filming location and felt a certain bold, scrutinizing gaze. He subconsciously turned his head and met Jiang Xunzhou’s eyes directly.

Jiang Xunzhou was sitting in a chair, with an assistant wearing silver-rimmed glasses standing beside him.

The assistant held a file and was speaking softly, seemingly reporting on work.

The man listened casually, tilting his head slightly, his long fingers interlaced and resting on his knees. He wore a large, navy blue metal-banded watch on his wrist, which was clearly expensive.

His long legs, encased in gray trousers, were crossed. His posture was one of complete arrogance and ease, yet it exuded a noble air that caused many staff members around him to secretly glance his way.

Caught staring by Yu You, the man showed no change in expression. He simply lowered his gaze and looked at the boy’s collar.

The boy was slender as bamboo, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing a small patch of collarbone as white as snow.

Jiang Xunzhou suddenly turned and said something lightly to the assistant beside him.

The assistant adjusted his glasses, nodded in acknowledgment, and then quickly walked toward the director in the middle of the set.

Yu You blinked, a sudden bad feeling rising within him.

The director picked up his megaphone, ready to instruct the actors for the scene. After hearing what the assistant said, his expression turned strange, and then he reluctantly nodded.

    “That… Yu You, is it?”

The director was unfamiliar with the name, and when he read it out with the megaphone, it sounded a bit awkward and halting.

The sound traveled across the entire set, and everyone’s eyes focused on the boy.

Beside him, the female lead, Jiang Mingyan, looked at Yu You with curiosity.

The director’s expression was wooden as he relayed the message word for word: “Since we are filming a high school campus drama, and students are wearing uniforms, button up your shirt.”

    “Understood, Director.”

Yu You’s smile didn’t falter. He curved his eyes and obediently buttoned up his shirt, suspecting that Jiang Xunzhou was deliberately causing trouble here.

There were several students acting as background extras in this scene. Since Jiang Xunzhou was so idle, why didn’t he go check if their school uniform buttons were fastened?

The director picked up the megaphone and began directing the rehearsal.

Jiang Xunzhou sat in his chair, watching with interest, when a shadow blocked his view. Someone was standing there.

Fang You said sincerely, “Hello, Mr. Jiang. I delayed the filming schedule today, so I’d like to treat everyone to dinner after we wrap up tonight as an apology. I hope you can honor us with your presence, Mr. Jiang.”

Jiang Xunzhou looked up, asking in confusion, “Who are you?”
