    Chapter 6

It all started when Ji Gui happened to see Yuan Hui. He hadn’t seen Yuan Hui for a long time, and that fleeting silhouette was enough to drive him to give chase.

It had nothing to do with love or hate; it was simply an instinct carved into his very bones.

Ji Gui walked cautiously behind Yuan Hui and called out, “Sir.”

His voice was deliberately pitched higher, carrying a child-like innocence—the very definition of acting spoiled. That soft, delicate voice was enough to make anyone stop in their tracks.

Yuan Hui naturally stopped. He turned around and smiled as he stroked Ji Gui’s head, his expression one of pure indulgence. “What a coincidence. Come, walk with me.”

Ji Gui pressed close to Yuan Hui, leaning his entire body against him like a clingy cat.

Yuan Hui enjoyed this and playfully pinched Ji Gui’s nose.

Just as the atmosphere turned sweet and ambiguous, a cute girl in a Western-style dress appeared around the corner. When those azure eyes saw Ji Gui and Yuan Hui, they darkened with uncontrollable resentment.

However, her dull eyes brightened instantly the moment she looked at Yuan Hui. She lifted her skirt and ran over, throwing herself onto Yuan Hui and wordlessly pushing Ji Gui aside.

“Sir, I missed you so much~” She silently stepped on Ji Gui’s foot and looked up at Yuan Hui. “It was my fault last time. I shouldn’t have annoyed you. Please forgive me, okay?”

“I wasn’t angry. I’ve just been too busy lately. I’ll go see you next time.” Yuan Hui used the same hand that had just touched Ji Gui to pinch Ivy’s nose.

Ji Gui clenched his fists. He stepped back on her foot and then grabbed Yuan Hui’s hand, looking at him pitifully with eyes full of attachment.

Ivy let out a silent “tch,” thinking to herself that she would definitely make him pay.

“I really can’t stand you two. I’m going to the restaurant; are you still following?”

A voice came from above. The words sounded like a scolding, but the tone was actually one of pleasure.

“I’ll go wherever you go,” the two answered in unison.

After speaking, they exchanged a glance, sparks flying between them.

In the restaurant, Ji Gui and Ivy stood on either side, waiting for Yuan Hui to finish his meal.

During this time, they occasionally made eye contact, each look filled with tension and silent competition.

Ji Gui did feel guilty toward Ivy, but the moment he encountered Yuan Hui, he threw that guilt to the back of his mind. To put it bluntly: he would not give Sir up to her.

Ivy stared coldly at Ji Gui, her gaze like a knife, her eyes filled with the desire to cut him into a thousand pieces.

But both remained silent, not daring to act out.

Yuan Hui sat between them eating, but a sudden movement broke their peace—Yuan Hui picked up a shrimp and held it to Ji Gui’s lips.

Ji Gui froze, not expecting Yuan Hui to do such a thing.

Ivy immediately turned to look, suppressing the flames of jealousy, though the hatred in her eyes was hard to conceal.

Ji Gui met Yuan Hui’s gaze again. Then, he knelt down, opened his mouth, and extended his pink tongue to slowly lick the offering.

Ivy steeled herself and also knelt, pressing her face against Yuan Hui’s hand. Sure enough, Yuan Hui looked over at her.

She hurriedly adjusted her expression, looking at Yuan Hui with a bashful face.

Seeing this, Ji Gui bit down on the shrimp and shifted his body toward the center.

Ivy moved quickly to squeeze him out, kneeling in the middle before looking up at Yuan Hui with starry eyes. “Do you mind?”

It was a redundant question. How could Yuan Hui mind the two of them fighting over him?

He smiled and stroked Ivy’s cheek. “Of course not.”

Hearing this, Ivy gave a sweet smile and lowered her head, her fluffy hair moving rhythmically.

Yuan Hui looked down at her with a gentle, doting gaze, as if he were looking at a beloved lover.

“…” Ji Gui was speechless, only regretting that he had been a step too slow.

“Are you jealous?” The one speaking wasn’t Yuan Hui, but Shang.

Shang had appeared suddenly, sitting on the windowsill. The morning light hit him but could not penetrate the thick mist covering his face.

Bathed in light, he looked at Ji Gui.

Ji Gui was stunned and looked toward the window. His whole body tensed up, and he only relaxed when he realized the others couldn’t see Shang. He stopped looking at Shang and rested his head on Yuan Hui’s leg.

Shang said nothing, evaporating like mist in an instant.

“Why were you dazing just now?” Yuan Hui suddenly asked.

That single question made Ji Gui’s breath hitch for a moment. He looked up at Yuan Hui with a blank expression, trying his best to look innocent and cute.

Yuan Hui chuckled and grabbed his head, forcing him to look toward the window.

With just one glance, Ji Gui’s pupils shrank.

Outside the window was a man using shears to trim the garden bushes. Ji Gui was intimately familiar with that back—it was the person who had accelerated time for him, making him briefly forget the past.

    It was Gui.

“I… I…” Ji Gui remembered what Shang had said to him and felt a surge of panic. Yuan Hui’s gaze made his heart sink to rock bottom. “It’s nothing…”

That gaze was icy, like water flowing down from a snowy mountain.

Ivy’s eyes darted around as she looked at him with a beaming smile, all while continuing her movements. Her many attempts at whispering into Yuan Hui’s ear hadn’t been in vain.

It was also fortunate that Luo Ling had submitted the video through the butler.

“Enough, Ivy, you may leave,” Yuan Hui pushed Ivy away.

Ivy nodded obediently. Before leaving, she didn’t forget to mock Ji Gui with a gloating look.

In the private space between the two of them, Ji Gui panicked. He looked at Yuan Hui nervously, trying to convey his innocence through his eyes.

To his surprise, Yuan Hui took out his phone and showed him a video.

In the footage, Ji Gui had his head lowered, his expression unreadable as he turned to grab a man. Then, he looked up, his eyes filled with sadness, reluctance, and confusion.

A second later, Ji Gui opened his mouth to say something—the distance was too far for the video to catch the audio.

The man shook him off and walked away without looking back, leaving Ji Gui standing there in a daze, his expression sorrowful and shocked.

It looked exactly like someone being dumped in a relationship, if one ignored their ages.

“What do you think?” Yuan Hui retracted the phone and asked indifferently.

What did he think? No one had ever taught Ji Gui how to answer such a question. However, his intuition told him he couldn’t say, “I like Gui very much; he was very good to me.”

Then what should he say? How could he explain that expression of sadness and reluctance?

As he thought, a cold wind brushed past his ear. In his peripheral vision, a face with blurred features pressed against him, black hair scratching his cheeks.

The sensation of coldness was lingering.

Ji Gui couldn’t speak; only broken syllables escaped his throat.

Shang said, “Why don’t you tell him: ‘Please believe me, I would never betray you. It’s just that he was kind to me and I couldn’t bear to see him go’?”

“…” Ji Gui chose to ignore him. He wasn’t so stupid as to say that.

Shang was deliberately teasing him, first by drawing his attention to the window and then by trying to induce him to say those words.

As a last resort, Ji Gui squeezed out a few tears and said, “Sir, please let me explain.”

Yuan Hui was very patient. He smiled and said, “Explain, then.”

“He and I were just friends. I don’t know why he suddenly wanted to leave that day. I grabbed him in a moment of desperation… and then…” Ji Gui was telling the truth, but it only seemed to make things worse.

Before he could finish, Yuan Hui raised his hand and slapped him again. He then unhurriedly straightened his sleeves. “Now that is interesting. What kind of friends? You don’t like Ivy, who is about your age, but you insist on seeking out someone older.”

Ji Gui really wanted to say that it was Ivy who had repeatedly provoked and humiliated him. He touched his burning cheek and lowered his head. “I’m sorry, I just… I just…”

At this point, he realized he couldn’t defend himself. The video was proof; his affection and reluctance for Gui were genuine.

How could he explain it away?

Furthermore, he didn’t even know the difference between so-called love and friendship.

“Take off your clothes.” Yuan Hui’s expression was flat, as if he had grown tired of Ji Gui’s weak excuses.

    Ji Gui obediently undressed.

Yuan Hui looked his body up and down. It was a youthful body, white and smooth like a fresh sprout. Every inch of skin was delicate, with two pink points standing firm.

Then, Yuan Hui told him to lie face down with his back to him.

Ji Gui was very familiar with that look. During those three months, he had encountered that gaze everywhere—unrestrained scrutiny and careless inspection.

It was arrogant and contemptuous, carrying an unspeakable, filthy desire.

Suddenly, Ji Gui felt something behind him—something hot and unspeakable. Everyone knew what that reality was.

One would rather close their eyes than speak of it directly.

A pair of feet appeared before Ji Gui’s eyes. They were as white as paper, with bluish nails, radiating a chilling cold.

Looking up, he saw Shang standing there in silence, his expression hidden by the mist.

    “…”

Ji Gui wanted to say something but ultimately remained silent.

After this, Ji Gui’s room was downgraded.

He was locked in a tiny room of only a few square meters with no windows. To exaggerate, it was difficult even to stretch his legs.

He hugged his shins and stared silently at the concrete wall in front of him. The air smelled of moldy dampness. His eyes moved, catching sight of a cockroach scurrying across the floor.

A dark corner, shared with the dark “ghost” beside him.

“Why did you deliberately lead me to look at the window?” Ji Gui asked after a long silence.

Shang floated in mid-air, as if swimming in the sea. “There isn’t always a ‘why.’ I just wanted to. Do you hate me?”

“…No,” Ji Gui said. “Sir had already seen the video. Even if you hadn’t done that, I would have suffered. Maybe Gui being outside was something Sir arranged anyway. I just don’t understand why you did it.”

He truly disliked Shang, but he was used to this kind of malice. He couldn’t even muster the energy to hate him.

“…” The blurred face turned toward him, silent and eerie. “You should focus on thinking of a way to get out.”

Ji Gui pulled the blanket up to cover his body.

His stomach growled. He curled up and clutched his stomach, but his eyes remained wide open.

After coming here, three meals a day had become one. It was just enough to keep his soul hovering near heaven, only to be snapped back to the human world the moment he touched it.

In plain terms, he wasn’t full, but he wasn’t dying either.

    His stomach was cramping.

He touched his increasingly thin wrists and cheeks, feeling a growing sense of anxiety. If his looks faded, there would be nothing but a dead end waiting for him even if he got out.

But he didn’t even have a chance to leave. Food was delivered daily through a small slot at the bottom of the door. No one ever stepped foot into his room.

There were only silent walls around him. If not for Shang, he wouldn’t even have anyone to talk to.

That was why he didn’t hate Shang. If he did, his world would be nothing but silence.

“…” He silently got out of bed and walked to the door. The cold touch of the iron door climbed up his nerves to his brain.

He pushed forward, but the iron door didn’t budge.

He crouched down and pushed the small slot, but his body was far too large to pass through.

“It’s useless. Look on the bright side; Yuan Hui didn’t send you away, so he definitely still wants to sleep with you.” Shang floated over to Ji Gui’s side again.

Ji Gui leaned against the iron door and could only sigh. “He will definitely forget me…”

    Shang silently floated away.

Time passed, and a month went by.

Ji Gui’s frame was gaunt, his wrists lacked strength, and the sensation of hunger haunted him constantly.

He lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought.

    “Are you afraid of death?”

The blurred face leaned in close to Ji Gui and asked.

Ji Gui naturally knew the meaning of death.

In his memory, there was a sweet-looking Omega girl. Every time they trained, she fought back desperately. The result was always being beaten until she was covered in wounds.

On the day she died, the person training them finally lost patience and used her as a demonstration subject. She fought back with everything she had during the process.

After several people had their turn, her voice gradually weakened, and her body became a bloody mess. Under the gaze of many eyes, she fell into an eternal sleep.

That was the death Ji Gui knew.

So, he answered without hesitation, “I’m afraid.”

“Then you will definitely die like this. Forgotten and then dead. Your corpse will rot, your skin will turn green and then burst, countless maggots will crawl inside you, and finally, you’ll turn into a pile of white bones.” Shang spoke the sentences of a horror story quietly, without emotion, making one shiver upon hearing them.

Ji Gui remained silent for a moment after hearing this.

“Haha, so think of a way to get out quickly.” Shang suddenly laughed.

Ji Gui had previously tried shouting to the person outside during meal delivery, saying his stomach hurt or he was dying, but the person ignored him.

It seemed they were content to let him die of illness in there.

“What way?” Ji Gui’s voice was muffled. If Shang hadn’t been talking to him this past month, he would have definitely gone insane.

“I don’t know. Think for yourself.”

    Ji Gui fell silent again.

Half an hour later, he walked to the door and crouched down.

As for Ivy on the other side, she unhappily stabbed a piece of fruit and put it in her mouth. Originally, she had been very happy to have taken Ji Gui down.

But within two months, Yuan Hui had brought back another Omega, supposedly bought at an auction. That one was top-tier in looks, with golden hair and heterochromatic eyes, and was an expert at acting cute and spoiled.

None of her attempts at whispering in Yuan Hui’s ear worked anymore.

Yuan Hui’s doting on him reached unprecedented levels—he even took him along when going out.

Ivy’s teeth ached with resentment, but she dared not speak out.

Just as she was thinking about it, the fellow arrived at the restaurant.

His golden hair was like the sun, and his heterochromatic eyes were always full of innocent wonder—but it wasn’t an act. His personality really was like that of a normal child, while also being obedient and well-behaved.

Ivy naturally knew Yuan Hui liked those who were cute and pure, but no matter how she modeled herself, she couldn’t fake that feeling.

He was as pure as a spring, untainted by the dust of the world.

Sure enough, the little innocent’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Ivy. He ran over and sat beside her, calling out, “Sister Ivy!”

I really want to slap him!

Ivy was bleeding internally, but her face remained smiling. “Mm, good morning, Yao.”

She didn’t dare show Yao any attitude because if he felt wronged, he would definitely cry to Yuan Hui. If he cried, she would be finished.

After all, Yuan Hui wasn’t siding with her right now.

She also didn’t dare to use direct force like Ji Gui had; she could only smile and pretend to be harmonious.

As for secretly tripping him up…

She had tried, and the result was a warning from Yuan Hui the very next day.

Yao was extremely dependent on Yuan Hui and would tell him everything without holding back. Once he spoke, Yuan Hui naturally knew Ivy was making trouble behind his back.

In his “honeymoon phase,” Yuan Hui naturally protected Yao.

Consequently, Ivy could only endure her hatred and force a smile to get along with Yao, playing the role of a good older sister.

Outside the iron door, the sound of footsteps approached. In the enclosed environment, the faint sound was exceptionally clear.

The person delivering food had arrived.

Ji Gui patted his cheeks to perk himself up and pressed his ear to the door to listen.

When he looked down, he saw his skeletal wrist again. It was devoid of color, with blue veins winding across the skin.

The footsteps stopped at the door.

Ji Gui raised his hand and placed his wrist near his mouth.

At the same time, the person outside crouched down.

Ji Gui took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and bit down hard.

The moment his teeth pierced the flesh, there was no sensation. It wasn’t until blood filled his mouth and the metallic taste hit his senses that the pain radiated through his entire body.

Chewing his own flesh felt like he was eating himself bit by bit, swallowing himself into his stomach.

In a daze, he heard the sound of bone creaking.

Ji Gui frowned and endured the pain, quickly thrusting his bleeding wrist out through the small slot.

“Save me…” He sobbed and pounded on the door.

There was a gasp from outside, and then the door swung open.

Crimson blood overflowed like a stream, gushing out like a fountain.

The sight of the blood made Ji Gui dizzy. In the last moment before he fainted, he finally saw the light outside.

    “Sir!”

Ivy silently watched as Yao threw himself onto Yuan Hui like a dog wagging its tail.

She didn’t think Yao’s expression was anything special, but Yuan Hui favored him nonetheless.

“I just had lunch with Sister Ivy. The steak was delicious!” He spoke like a child—natural, innocent, and reckless. He even accidentally stepped on Yuan Hui’s foot.

But Yuan Hui didn’t care at all.

Ivy quietly clenched her fists, cursing him for being a fool. He clearly hadn’t been disciplined by Sir yet; his eyes were filled with a clear, innocent stupidity.

    It was loathsome.

“Sir, good morning.” Ivy covered her mouth and walked forward with feigned pleasant surprise, giving a slight bow.

She, of course, had been disciplined. Noisy crying, throwing tantrums, acting spoiled—every one of those would invite violence. Yuan Hui liked them to be weak, pitiful, and well-behaved when they acted spoiled or cried. If they were reckless or acted entitled, they would be locked in solitary at best, or beaten at worst.

Yao’s lack of restraint showed he was being held in the palm of Sir’s hand, pampered at every moment. How could she not hate him?

Yuan Hui’s attitude toward her remained gentle. “I’m relieved to see you two getting along so well.”

“Of course. I listen to you most of all, and little Yao is very cute. I’ve always wanted a brother like him to keep me company.” Ivy didn’t even blink as she lied. Her lying skills had reached the level of a grandmaster; she could say whatever Yuan Hui wanted to hear.

Beside her, Yao couldn’t help but beam when he heard this, looking at Ivy with sparkling eyes.

Under Yuan Hui’s gaze, Ivy gave Yao a sweet smile.

It was at this moment that the butler hurried forward and whispered, “Sir, the Omega in the basement bit through the blood vessels in his wrist. He’s been sent to the hospital. How do you intend to handle this?”

Although the butler’s voice was low, Ivy and Yao, who were nearby, heard it clearly. Yuan Hui had no intention of hiding it from them.

Ivy couldn’t think of anyone else besides Ji Gui, who had been locked in the basement recently. Thus, the corners of her mouth curled up uncontrollably, her heart filled with secret joy.

It was wonderful. Her enemy was finally going to die. She could already imagine the scene of Ji Gui being completely abandoned by Yuan Hui and sent to some filthy place, crying in a total breakdown.

There was nothing more beautiful in the world than this—watching Ji Gui’s despair, thinking he could use self-harm to make Sir change his mind, when in reality, it would only lead him into a silent abyss.

Thinking this, even Yao seemed a bit more tolerable to Ivy.

There were always people who overstimated themselves and tried to “provoke” Sir. In reality, your life was as light as a feather to him.

Playing the martyr—he probably didn’t even know how to spell the word “death.”

She looked at Yuan Hui with a face full of smiles.

Seeing her like this, Yuan Hui actually smiled and stroked her head, then said, “Handle it according to the previous method.”

    Excellent.

Ivy almost jumped with excitement. This Ji Gui was truly too stupid. Did he really think he was the one at the center of Sir’s heart? Why would he seek death like that!

But it was for the best; it saved her the trouble of reminding Sir to deal with the “old person in the basement” later.

To her surprise, a naive, child-like voice spoke up: “Are you going to bring that Omega home?”

Is there something wrong with your brain?!

Ivy was fuming and wanted to reach out and strangle him.

She had been too arrogant; it turned out there was someone even stupider than Ji Gui. He was actually thinking of helping his competitor.

A “damned” Saint Mother, trying to illuminate the world with kindness, altruism, and self-sacrifice. It was hateful. Ivy felt that such a kind person should just go to heaven; this world wasn’t suitable for him.

“Why do you ask that?” But Yuan Hui liked it. He looked at Yao dotingly.

Ivy wanted to vomit blood and tell Yao to shut up, but she could only stand there like a stone.

Yao blinked. “Isn’t it? If he gets better at the hospital, shouldn’t he come home?”

Ivy gave up hope and turned her thoughts toward how to deal with a “returning” Ji Gui.

Seeing him say this, Yuan Hui’s gaze became even softer. “Then how about I bring him back to play with you?”

“Great! That way I’ll have two friends!”

He really is just a brat.

    Ivy thought silently.

    Note
