An Yao’S Observation Diary Chapter 29
byDecember 31st, Zhou Tianqing (full text completed)
I was sleeping dazedly, and I vaguely felt a tiny rustling movement coming from my arms.I reluctantly opened my eyes and found that it was still dark at this time, but An Yao got up and sat in my arms in a daze with his sleepy hair.
“Yaoyao?” I subconsciously tightened my arms, “Why did you get up so early?”
He closed his eyes and reacted for a while before replying, “…Go to the clinic, otherwise you will be late.”
“It’s Sunday today.” I yawned, “Go to sleep.”
As soon as the words fell, An Yao suddenly fell back into my arms, skillfully found a position and lay down obediently, and soon began to breathe heavily and fell into dreamland again.
I hugged him and lifted him up. With heavy eyelids, I returned to Duke Zhou to play the unfinished game of chess.
We slept deeply and didn’t open our eyes until nearly noon.I slept for an extra long time, my body and even my bones were soft. The dazzling sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains that were not tightly drawn, making us so bright that we couldn’t help but squint our eyes.
I was still sleepy, my eyelids were drooped, and I kissed the person in my arms randomly, “Yaoyao, it seems to be almost noon now.”
An Yao buried her head in the crook of my neck and responded muffledly. After a while, she raised her face and yawned slowly, “Then… when will we have breakfast?”
“Where’s the breakfast?” I said, “It’s lunch. Brunch.”
An Yao blinked and suddenly laughed.
“B-brunch…” He laughed so hard that his shoulders shook and tears fell from his eyes, “What is this word?”
I felt very baffled, but I couldn’t help but laugh along with him.We just laughed and fell on the bed, laughing for a long time because of this weird point of laughter.
“Why do you feel so stupid?” I rubbed An Yao’s little face that wrinkled up with laughter, “Yao Yao baby, what’s so funny about this?”
“I don’t know either.” He buried his head in my palm and smiled stupidly, “But I’m so happy.”
I also laughed, and moved closer to kiss the tip of his nose, “Laugh, laugh, anyway, a smile will make you ten years younger. If you smile more, maybe I can be younger.”
“No, Qingyan.” An Yao said, “The few times you laughed just now were already smaller than mine.”
“Is this so?” I went to kiss him, “Brother Yaoyao, what do you think I should do?”
An Yao’s eyes widened, and his face visibly burned, “I, I don’t know…”
I wanted to get closer and kiss him, but his eyes and hands quickly blocked my face.
“Qing, Qingyan,” I heard him stutter, “I, let’s go wash up first.”
I smiled lowly and said, “Okay. But let go of your hand first, otherwise I won’t be able to see the road.”
An Yao did as he was told, but when he let go, he was quickly pecked by me, and his fair face suddenly turned red.
“Let’s go.” I said cheerfully, “Otherwise I won’t even be able to make it in time for lunch.”
I smiled and couldn’t help humming a tune, and wanted to take the kid next to me who had made strawberry spring rolls to get up and wash up, but when I got out of bed, I found that the kid’s slippers were missing.
“Maybe he was kicked to another place last night.” The child said softly, “I’ll look for it again.”
“No need.” I said, reaching out and picking him up directly. An Yao let out a small exclamation and instinctively hugged my neck. His light gray eyes widened, like a kitten that was suddenly carried to a high place.
“That’s it for today.” I said with a smile, “I’ll look for it later.”
I carried him all the way to the sink and let him stand on my instep with his bare feet, “Are you steady?”
An Yao nodded with a red face and silently bent over to wash up.
I quickly washed my face and handed the towel to him. I looked at the long eyelashes of the person in my arms that were slightly moistened by water vapor, casting a small quiet shadow under the eyelids.
“Yaoyuan,” I asked, “Where do you want to go today?”
An Yao thought seriously for a while, “Let’s go to the supermarket. The food in the refrigerator is almost finished.”
“Okay.” I replied, “It happens to be New Year’s Day tomorrow, so I can buy some snacks by the way.”
He nodded and suddenly raised his eyebrows, “Time flies so fast.”
“Yeah,” I murmured, “it’s almost the New Year.”
An Yao washed her face, turned around and hugged my waist.I lowered my head and gently sucked his lips and tongue into my mouth. The unique fragrance of toothpaste spread in each other’s mouths with the intertwined tongue tips, overflowing with a faint sweetness.
We kissed quietly for a while, until Anyao gasped unbearably, and I reluctantly let go.We lingered for another long time before we came out of the bathroom sticky.
After a simple meal, we changed into off-white sweaters of the same style, put on down jackets outside, changed shoes and went out together. Our hands were tightly clasped together, silently transmitting each other’s body temperature in the cold winter.
The winter sunshine is faint and has no temperature, but it stretches the shadows of us side by side very long behind us, overlapping each other intimately, as if we are being kissed one after another.
When I entered the supermarket, I pushed a shopping cart and smiled inexplicably.
“Yaoyao, do you want to try sitting on it?” I said, “Just like that little kid.”
He looked in the direction I pointed and saw a little boy sitting on the seat of a shopping cart, while a boy of his own age was pushing the cart behind him. The two of them drove the shopping cart whizzing past the supermarket.
An Yao was stunned for a moment, and his ears quickly turned red, “Qingyan——”
I smiled and rubbed his head, “You will always be a kid to me.”
He puffed up half of his face and tugged at the corner of my clothes angrily. His attention was quickly attracted by the reduced-price products on the side. He took my hand and excitedly grabbed a bag, and then walked slowly along the shelves.
“Are three potatoes enough?”
“One more.”
“It seems that we are almost out of milk at home. Do you want to change the brand this time?”
“How about this? I heard it’s like buffalo milk, which is different from pure milk.”
“…Is this like this? I don’t know much about it.”
I was studying milk varieties head to head with An Yao, when suddenly I heard someone calling me from behind.
“Dr. Lin!” the man shouted, “Long time no see!”
I turned around and saw that it was Yueyue’s mother, “Long time no see. Didn’t you bring Yueyue out today?”
“She’s still in cram school, and class doesn’t end until six o’clock.” She waved to An Yao, “Are you taking Xiaoyao out to buy something today?”
“Yeah,” I put my arm around An Yao’s shoulders, “I don’t want to worry about New Year’s Day tomorrow, so I might as well prepare some snacks or something.”
She looked at the wedding rings in our hands, and then at An Yao’s obviously ill-fitting down jacket, and the smile on her face became a little more friendly, “Oh, you guys are a perfect match…Then I won’t bother you anymore. Happy New Year!”
An Yao’s face turned red and she smiled shyly, “I wish you a happy New Year’s Day in advance.”
She waved her hands with a smile, picked up her shopping bag and walked away.
We checked out from the supermarket and left. When we got home, we packed up our things and quickly lay down on the sofa hugging each other. The afternoon sun shines into the house through the glass windows and surrounds us warmly. The rising warmth makes our muscles and bones numb, and we just want to hold the one we love most and waste time lazily.
An Yao leaned in my arms, her eyelids gradually drooped, and she slowly melted into my arms like a small snack.I quietly kissed him a few times, but he only made a few vague hums.
I couldn’t help laughing, “Go to sleep, Yaoyao.”
He seemed to have received some permission and soon fell asleep.
I held An Yao quietly until I heard his deep and shallow breathing become longer, and then I carried him into the bedroom.I carefully covered myself with the quilt, closed the door, and turned to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
The sky was getting darker in the evening, and when I was bringing the last dish to the table, there was a slight noise from the bedroom door.
“Qingyan?” I heard An Yao call me, “Why don’t you ask me to help you?”
I turned around and felt a familiar weight in my arms.He jumped straight into my arms and brushed against my chin with his upturned messy hair.
“Because Yaoyao has worked so hard,” I kissed the top of his hair, “now it’s time for me to take care of you.”
An Yao shook his head, “It’s not hard work. Qingyan is clearly the hardest worker.”
“You have to be busy seeing a doctor, picking me up and dropping me off, and…”
I smiled and stopped him, “We will discuss this topic later. Now, Yaoyao can talk about something else, such as-”
I stuffed a handful of paper roses hidden in the corner into An Yao’s arms.
“I originally wanted to buy you a bouquet of flowers today, but the flower shop was closed, so I had to fold this.” The more I said, the more guilty I felt, “This is my first time folding, maybe it’s too simple. If you don’t like it…”
“I like it very much!” An Yao interrupted me hastily, “I, I like it very much!”
He gathered the paper rose into his arms, his movements as gentle as if he were holding a fragile treasure.I saw him raise his head, his eyes bent, and the water was as bright as a moon.
“I like it very much.” An Yao looked at me straightly, “I really really like it.”
I was startled for a moment and then laughed.
“Okay, I understand.” I kissed the moon in the water, “Then put it aside and let’s eat first. Otherwise the food will get cold.”
An Yao responded softly and reluctantly placed the paper rose on the cabinet aside. Before leaving, he deliberately adjusted its position to prevent it from falling to the ground.
We finished our meal, cleared away the dishes, and got ready to watch a movie together in the evening.I heard that this movie is about a thousand-year story about an ancient true god and a blue dragon, and it is full of fantasy.
When I was getting the drink, I saw An Yao return to the cabinet, raising his hand to gently fiddle with the petals of the paper rose.
I hugged him from behind and rested my chin on his shoulder, “Yaoyao, do you like it so much?”
An Yao nodded vigorously.
“Then do you want to take it apart and take a look?”
His face was full of embarrassment, and he looked particularly reluctant to part with it, “If you tear it down, it will be gone.”
“It’s okay,” I smiled, “I’ll help you recover.”
Anyao blinked and hesitated for a moment before slowly raising his hand. The red origami was slowly opened, revealing the densely packed words inside.
“I hope that every day from now on will be happier than yesterday.”
“I hope you are in good health.”
“Yaoyao must be an angel sent by God, right? Why are there such perfect people in the world?”
“Yaoyuan…”
His hands were shaking so much that he couldn’t even hold on to the last rose.I held his hand and led him to slowly open the rose as I had done countless times before.
“An Yao, meeting you is my greatest luck.”
“I love you.” I said.
He didn’t speak, he just put down the colored paper in his hand, turned his head and leaned on my chest
“Qingyan,” An Yao’s voice was very soft, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” I whispered, “You don’t need to say thank you, because…because these are just small things.”
He looked at me, suddenly came forward, and kissed the corner of my mouth very gently.
“No,” he said, “it’s big and important.”
Those beautiful light gray eyes curved up again, “I like it very much.”
I also laughed and said, “As long as you like it.”
I wanted to say something more, but at this moment a melodious prelude sounded in the living room.
“Stop talking about this.” I said, “The movie has started.”
We huddled together, wrapped in the same blanket and slowly sank into the sofa, watching the protagonists one after another on the movie screen.
Begin, get acquainted, break up, and meet again. The people in the story are separated and reunited, and the hidden overall situation is gradually revealed, and it soon comes to an end.
“Bang!”
The dark living room was suddenly filled with a faint layer of colored light, then went out, lit up, and went out again, repeating the cycle.Noisy explosions and cheers suddenly sounded, drowning the whole world in the huge sound.
An Yao turned around and looked, eyes widening in surprise, “Fireworks!”
I subconsciously looked at the time on my phone. It was twelve o’clock, which was the new year.
“The new year is here.” I said, “Happy New Year from afar.”
An Yao turned her head, her eyes reflecting the bright and dying light outside the window. He came forward and gently touched my lips, “Happy New Year, Qingyan.”
We kissed quietly amidst the fireworks and distant cheers.
I can’t remember what was shown in the movie afterwards, but I just carried An Yao to the balcony, and together we watched the fireworks blooming one after another on the dark blue sky, breaking into thousands of flowing gold and jade, reflecting in each other’s eyes full of light.
It was windy at night, so I unfolded my coat and wrapped him up completely. We are like two spoons cuddling together, melted by the excessive temperature into an inseparable piece of iron.
“Time flies so fast,” I said, “it’s almost a year already.”
An Yao nodded, “It feels like everything happened yesterday.”
“Yes.” I said.
“When I picked you up… I actually felt very scared.” My voice was very soft. “I was afraid that the decision I made was wrong, that I would delay your treatment, that it would affect your reputation, and that I even doubted my own medical skills later on.”
“Can I really let an omega survive with his glands removed? I don’t know.”
An Yao didn’t speak, just listened quietly.
“I still feel very scared to this day.” I sighed deeply, “I’m worried that I will affect your judgment, but will restrain you and make you…”
The person in my arms moved, suddenly stood up on tiptoes, and pressed a gentle kiss on my lips.
“No.”
An Yao’s voice was so clear in the sky filled with fireworks, “No.”
“Qingyan, you saved me and pulled me out of that cannibal hell.” He said, “You gave me not only a life, but also a world where I can breathe again and see the light again.”
“I didn’t want to live anymore.” He choked, “But you are in this world.”
“Qingyan, you are here.”
The night wind blew by, and a huge purple firework exploded above our heads, illuminating An Yao’s eyes that reflected my face.
“Qingyan,” he smiled, “I love you.”
I froze on the spot, and I clearly felt something hot pouring out of my heart, filling my eyes with surging hotness, until my eyes were filled with sour pain.
“Yaoyao, our marriage certificate was issued too hastily.” I said in a hoarse voice, “There was no wedding, no ceremony, and even the ring was not the best… I was wondering, since your stepfather is dead, am I – am I -”
I closed my eyes, “It’s time to set you free.”
“I have thought about it many times, but I have never told you…until today.” I said, “I’m sorry, Yaoyao.”
“Perhaps I’m really not a very good husband.” I didn’t dare to look into his eyes, “I may say what’s best for you, but in the end, I lost to my own selfishness.”
“Qingyan,” I heard An Yao call my name, “I won’t leave.”
“You are where I belong,” he said.
I froze in place, and after a long time I smiled softly.
“Yaoyuan,” my voice was so low that it almost melted into the wind, “I know that when I say this now, it may sound empty and light…but I still want to say it.”
“I will always be by your side.”
I paused, “I will always love you.”
Fireworks bloomed in the distance again, making An Yao’s face flicker.
“You don’t need to do anything specially. It doesn’t matter even if you don’t know anything.” I said, “Because you are An Yao.”
So I will love you unconditionally.
Anyao blinked, and a tear fell into my palm without warning.First one drop, two drops, three drops… more and more, so hot that I could hardly hold my hand.
“Yaoyao,” I hugged him tightly, “Today is the last time I shed tears.”
“Starting from tomorrow, it will be a happy day every day.”
Fireworks shot into the sky outside the window, and the crackling sound of joy drowned the whole world. An Yao’s lips moved, as if he said something, but they were covered by a roar.
But I saw it.
“Okay.” He said.
The dark night sky has been completely ignited by the gorgeous fireworks, and the lights are shining brightly and dimly, like a grand and tireless farewell and welcome.I held An Yao tightly in my arms, and I could clearly feel the similar buzzing of each other’s heartbeats.
Although the sufferings of the past will still leave indelible scars on the body, the rest of life will be brilliant.
