Chapter 10 Chapter 10 Please Don’t Mind Me

Wang Shu was somewhat sensitive to unfamiliar beds and didn’t sleep soundly in the strange environment.

Jiang Xusheng got up several times during the night to check his temperature.

Wang Shu was having a nightmare, as usual. He dreamt of the laboratory when he was five, where examiners grabbed him, stuffed his mouth with cloth, drained the Pheromone from the back of his neck, and threw him back into the cage.

The boy locked in with him was also drenched in cold sweat. He crawled over and hugged Wang Shu tightly.

    “Brother… I hurt, I hurt… Brother…”

The Pheromone in the boy’s Gland was almost completely drained, but as he held Wang Shu, he still released Pheromone. His Gland bled warm blood from the overload, but the Alpha’s Pheromone acted as a painkiller for Wang Shu.

The small room was cold, and the cement floor was damp. Wang Shu had been blind since he was a baby, his eyes having been damaged by a high fever.

His world was a dark, endless abyss, filled with infinite pain.

His body, drained of Pheromone, ached all over. Hearing footsteps pacing in the corridor, he feared it was the people coming to take him back to the experiment.

    He was afraid.

Afraid this dream would be endless.

This infinitely dark, four-sided cage imprisoned the lifelong sorrow of him and his brother.

“Brother, are we going to die? I’m scared.” He wept in terror.

“Puppy, don’t be afraid. I’m here.” Pulled from the dream, drenched in cold sweat, he found Jiang Xusheng holding him, stroking his back.

    It was Mr. Jiang.

“It was a dream.” Jiang Xusheng pulled tissues from the bedside table to wipe his sweat, telling him, “There’s no need to be afraid.”

Wang Shu froze, breathing heavily, swallowing with difficulty. He could only barely distinguish between day and night. Everything was blurry, like looking through a blue-black plastic bag. Visibility was very low, with only simple shadows.

    “It’s…”

Wang Shu sat up and was given a sip of water to moisten his throat.

“The fever is gone.” Jiang Xusheng touched his forehead and said.

An Omega’s heat period, even without a full bond, could be greatly alleviated with the help of their husband. The temperature had receded, and his mind was much clearer.

Jiang Xusheng lived alone in the city center, with an Aunt Wang occasionally coming to clean.

After washing up, Jiang Xusheng was making breakfast in the kitchen.

Wang Shu changed into clean clothes, wearing one of Jiang Xusheng’s shirts. It was loose and long enough to cover his thighs, ensuring his lower abdomen wasn’t constricted.

He sat obediently on the sofa, sipping a cup of warm milk.

He listened to the methodical sounds of cooking coming from the kitchen—whisking eggs, frying ham, sprinkling black pepper. Mr. Jiang sounded very skilled at cooking.

“Ding—” The landline rang, startling Wang Shu.

“Mr. Jiang, I think that’s your call.”

“Answer it, I’m busy,” Jiang Xusheng called from the kitchen.

Wang Shu sat in the corner of the sofa, his hand tracing the edge until it found the phone on the coffee table. He picked it up and said politely, “Hello?”

“Jiang—” The person paused. It was Secretary Chen. Recognizing the different voice, he quickly corrected himself despite his surprise, “Young Master, I’m looking for CEO Jiang.”

Wang Shu’s voice was soft: “He’s cooking and asked me to answer. Do you need me to hand the phone to him?”

As he spoke, he was already preparing to lift the blanket and stand up.

“No need,” Secretary Chen said. “You can just relay the message to CEO Jiang. Thank you for the trouble.”

    “It’s no trouble at all.”

“Lawyer Yan has already departed. The driver can pick you up anytime this afternoon. If CEO Jiang needs anything else, please contact me. I will arrange things upon arrival.”

After hanging up, Jiang Xusheng came over with a small bowl of raspberries.

“Are you going on a business trip?” Wang Shu was led to his feet by Jiang Xusheng.

    “Yes.”

Wang Shu felt a little disappointed. He had thought he could stay here with Mr. Jiang.

But then he remembered that Aunt Wang had mentioned two days ago that Mr. Jiang was going on a business trip. It must have been delayed because of yesterday’s events.

    He was the burden.

He had delayed the man’s schedule and was still feeling disappointed about it.

Wang Shu pouted, popping a raspberry into his mouth, the sweetness of the early morning turning sour with his thoughts.

The TV wasn’t playing financial news. Jiang Xusheng switched to a new channel, a movie program.

“Do you like movie stars?” Jiang Xusheng asked.

“Huh?” Wang Shu didn’t watch often.

“The TV is showing Yu Tang’s movie. Have you heard of him?”

“Oh…” Wang Shu nodded and smiled, trying hard to look cheerful and not sad. “I’ve heard of him. His variety shows are interesting. I’ve watched them.”

“Good, if you like him.” Jiang Xusheng placed a piece of food into his bowl.

Wang Shu poked at it with his fork for a long time without success. His temper flared up, and his appetite instantly vanished. He felt sad thinking about his husband leaving him soon.

Jiang Xusheng chuckled softly: “You two are similar in age; you should get along.” With that, he fed the item to Wang Shu’s mouth.

“Are you taking me on the business trip?” Wang Shu asked in surprise.

Jiang Xusheng: “Should I leave you here alone then? If I don’t watch you, how will I know how many lies you tell normally?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Xusheng flicked his nose. “Come here.”

Wang Shu obediently opened his mouth and ate the food he was fed. It was a thick rolled omelet, very fragrant and sweet, and it didn’t make him nauseous.

Jiang Xusheng felt the distance across the table was too far, so he simply picked Wang Shu up and held him in his lap to feed him.

“I can eat by myself,” Wang Shu said quietly, his ears turning red.

He sat on Jiang Xusheng’s lap, unable to see, eating whatever he was fed, chewing obediently like a little rabbit.

His Pregnant Belly was slightly protruding, and he had to lean against Jiang Xusheng’s chest, otherwise his back would ache.

He usually ate very little, and his appetite hadn’t been good throughout the pregnancy. Eating half a bowl of porridge in the morning was considered a full meal. When Wang Shu said he was full, Jiang Xusheng frowned slightly.

He knew Wang Shu had a poor appetite, but not to this extent.

Jiang Xusheng sighed, softening his voice, sounding somewhat coaxing, “Just one more bite.”

Wang Shu was truly full. The baby was positioned posteriorly, and even before it grew large, it was pressing against his stomach, making it hard to eat. He didn’t dare disobey his husband, but his body felt uncomfortable. In the end, he could only burrow his head into Jiang Xusheng’s neck and shoulder, making a whimpering sound with his nose, “…Mr. Jiang, I can’t eat anymore.”

But in the end, he still opened his mouth and ate.

What Jiang Xusheng fed him wasn’t food, but a piece of milk candy.

It was sweet in his mouth.

“Very good,” Jiang Xusheng praised him near his ear.

Wang Shu had never traveled far from home.

This time, Jiang Xusheng was going from Shen City to Jing City to discuss a collaboration. Secretary Chen had flown ahead, and they were taking the highway.

Xieshu Pharmaceutical had already obtained the National Standard certification and could directly handle the import and export of Inhibitors domestically and internationally. The medicine was strictly controlled, and the output was massive, requiring cooperation with ports.

The Changxing Chamber of Commerce held the most ports in the country. The current head of the company was surnamed Qu, but he was currently abroad. Another executive director of a subsidiary, Xiao Zhengmian, was in charge domestically.

This evening’s event was a charity auction, and the cooperation would be discussed after the banquet. The deal was mostly finalized online; Jiang Xusheng was coming for an on-site inspection.

The highway trip from Shen City to Jing City required five hours.

Wang Shu wasn’t used to long car rides. He felt nauseous the whole way and eventually fell asleep leaning against Jiang Xusheng’s lap.

When the car stopped, Secretary Chen, who had made arrangements early, came down to greet them.

Dihao Tower was located in the center of Jing City, surrounded by an independently developed golf course, with the First Ring Bridge coiling around the tower like a dragon.

Inside the main entrance, there was a fountain with a Statue of Liberty, and several luxury cars that had just arrived were parked nearby.

“The usual charity banquet doesn’t seem to generate this much buzz.”

“Is it just because of a celebrity this time? Is that Yu Tang really that popular?”

“It’s more than him. Haven’t you heard? All the Inhibitors in the country’s Grade A hospitals have switched brands! The CEO of Xieshu is attending this time.”

“That’s a ruthless character, to monopolize the Inhibitor market.”

As a daily medical necessity, the demand was enormous.

A brand that suddenly appeared in the public eye didn’t just signify profit; more importantly, it represented the resources, capability, and power behind the brand.

When the CEO of Xieshu signed the port agreement with the Changxing Chamber of Commerce tonight, it meant that Jiang Xusheng’s name would be firmly established in Jing City, like a nail driven into the ground!

Developing pharmaceuticals domestically in just three years and monopolizing the entire industry.

With such methods, even the Changxing Chamber of Commerce would likely have to show some deference.

Reporters were waiting outside the Dihao Tower, and when a Rolls-Royce with the license plate Shen A88888 drove in, they quickly aimed their cameras to film.

The reporters couldn’t enter, so they could only capture a shadow outside to use for their articles.

“Not many people are this high-profile,” someone commented.

Someone in the crowd looked down at a photo: “Haven’t you heard? He swallowed up the livelihoods of many old Shen City businesses. He didn’t even spare the wife he just married. The news of the Wang Family’s bankruptcy has become a joke in the circle.”

“The Wang family that dealt in raw materials?”

“Exactly. The one he married is an Illegitimate Son, right? They didn’t even hold a wedding. He’s probably going to be played to death. That guy surnamed Jiang is a Beta.”

“Oh, a Beta running the Inhibitor business. No wonder they say heartless people make money.”

“Exactly. He probably hasn’t had to use an Inhibitor in his life, hahaha.”

The car passed the reporters’ cameras. The man inside the car window briefly raised his eyes, seemingly meeting the gaze of someone in the crowd, like the look of Death counting down the final moments of a life.

The driver parked the car steadily.

“CEO Xiao and the others have already—” Secretary Chen opened the car door, about to report the day’s schedule.

A small figure was lying in Jiang Xusheng’s arms, covered by his jacket.

Jiang Xusheng made a gesture. Secretary Chen, understanding, summoned the doorman to hold a black umbrella to shield the car, ensuring the reporters outside couldn’t capture anything.

“Mr. Jiang?” Wang Shu woke up groggily. “Are we there?”

He was quite thin. Jiang Xusheng could easily support his thighs with one hand, holding him like a child, while the other hand gently patted his back.

“Not yet,” Jiang Xusheng gently patted his back. “Go back to sleep.”

Omegas tend to be tired right after their heat period, and Wang Shu was also pregnant, making him even more prone to sleepiness.

Wang Shu’s entire head was practically buried in Jiang Xusheng’s shoulder, his breathing even. “I’ll only sleep for a little while…”

“Good,” Jiang Xusheng replied in a steady voice.

Secretary Chen, following behind, widened his eyes in surprise.

Just a few days ago, CEO Jiang was having Lawyer Yan draft divorce papers. He had thought the Young Master would fall out of favor, yet he was being brought into this tower.

Secretary Chen had worked by Jiang Xusheng’s side since graduating from university and knew his personality well. He had never heard him use such a tone with anyone before.

Once they entered the elevator, Wang Shu couldn’t stay asleep any longer.

He was completely limp from sleep, his hands and feet tingling, unable to walk on his own.

This position of being carried made his ears burn crimson.

He pursed his lips and whispered, “Please don’t mind me being lazy.”

Jiang Xusheng chuckled softly, seeing his shy face reflected in the elevator door. Wang Shu’s lips were very close to his ear, and every word he spoke carried warmth.

Wang Shu didn’t know if there were other people in the elevator.

“Is it okay?” Wang Shu sounded somewhat like he was whining, rubbing his nose against Jiang Xusheng’s earlobe. “I’m only like this because I’m carrying the baby. Normally, I walk very well and don’t need to be carried. Please don’t mind me…”

“Stop trying to charm me,” Jiang Xusheng said, a little helpless, his Adam’s apple subtly moving.

There were indeed others in the elevator.

Secretary Chen was tactfully looking away, pretending he hadn’t seen anything.
