ATMAWTPM Chapter 12
by VolareChapter 12: My husband is very good to me.
Inside the hospital, a doctor in a white coat was treating the wounds on Ye Tingtong’s face.
“It’s just a scratch, disinfecting it is enough,” the doctor said, putting back the alcohol swab. “Be careful not to get it wet, it’ll be fine in a few days.”
Ye Tingtong touched his cheek with his tongue. He could clearly feel the right side of his face was swollen. He asked uncertainly, “I’m really not disfigured?”
His face hurt so much. When it was disinfected with alcohol, he felt like his face was going to explode.
“You’ve asked me that three times now,” the doctor said. He was a little annoyed, but when he saw the other person’s nervous look, he swallowed the impatient words he was about to say.
The other person was just too good-looking. Even with half his face red and swollen, his outstanding looks were not affected.
“If you’re really worried, eat a light diet. If you feel uncomfortable, you can come back to the hospital.”
Anyway, these two didn’t look like they were short of money, especially the one behind the patient. His clothes were obviously from a wealthy family. Just standing there quietly, he had an imposing aura.
The doctor thought that even if this little patient was nagging, he probably wouldn’t say anything harsh.
He didn’t dare.
Leaving the hospital, Ye Tingtong sat in the passenger seat of Shen Jun’s car. Seeing him preparing to start the car, he asked nervously, “Where are we going?”
His lips moved. He mustered his courage. “Um… did you take care of it?”
Shen Jun heard his deliberately lowered voice, “Take care of what?”
“You know—” Ye Tingtong made sure the car windows were closed before continuing, “The tattooed guy you smashed into the hood of the car, did you have someone take care of him?”
Shen Jun understood what Ye Tingtong was implying. He was silent for a moment, “You mean, take care of the corpse?”
Ye Tingtong didn’t expect him to say it so directly. He was so scared that he reached out to cover Shen Jun’s mouth, but halfway there, he met Shen Jun’s dark eyes and didn’t dare, retracting his hand sheepishly. He whispered, “He’s really dead?”
Unlike his calm and refined demeanor, Shen Jun was decisive and fierce when he fought. At the time, he heard a bang and the hood of the car was dented. The tattooed man fell to the ground.
He thought he had just fainted, but after arriving at the hospital, he saw Shen Jun wash his hands and the dried blood on them was clearly visible.
Shen Jun didn’t expect Ye Tingtong to believe that. He looked at the other person’s pale face and wanted to clarify, but Ye Tingtong spoke first.
“Shen Jun, you…” Ye Tingtong paused for a moment, then said something shocking, “You’re so amazing!”
He knew that Shen Jun had a lot of power, but he didn’t expect it to be to this extent.
Was he someone who was both powerful in legitimate and illegitimate ways?
Shen Jun: “.”
He looked at Ye Tingtong’s suddenly bright eyes and felt that the other person seemed to have misunderstood something.
Before the misunderstanding escalated, Shen Jun explained, “It wasn’t that serious, it wouldn’t kill a person.”
“Ye Guodong was hiding not far away at the time, he would naturally handle things afterward.” Shen Jun felt it was necessary to give him some basic legal knowledge, “No one can just kill people, including me.”
Ye Tingtong listened to his slightly stern tone, and his hands that were hanging down fidgeted with the seat. “I just think he was very bad and deserved to die. I didn’t mean to belittle human life.”
Shen Jun heard that Ye Tingtong was admitting his mistake. He lowered his head slightly, revealing the rounded swirl of his hair at the top.
“I’m not blaming you.” Shen Jun said slowly, “Do you know that person?”
Ye Tingtong nodded lightly. “He locked me up with Ye Guodong, didn’t give me food, and beat me.”
He covered his stomach with his hand. “He liked to kick me in the stomach.”
Ye Tingtong’s tone did not contain any accusations. It was more of a calm statement. He lowered his head, and Shen Jun just looked at the boy beside him quietly.
Because he was preparing to get their marriage certificate, Ye Tingtong had spent a long time blow-drying his hair in the morning. His hair was soft and fluffy, and it shone slightly in the sunlight.
“Actually, there are exceptions,” Shen Jun said, breaking the silence in the car. “In that situation just now, you could have used any means to protect yourself.”
Ye Tingtong raised his head, his eyes widening slightly.
Shen Jun seemed to be saying that it wouldn’t matter even if he killed that kind of trash. It would be self-defense, and Shen Jun would back him up.
Ye Tingtong didn’t know if he had misunderstood, but anyway, Shen Jun’s certain words made him inexplicably happy. “So, I don’t have to care about them, right!”
Ye Guodong saw Shen Jun take action and would definitely not dare to fart. He could only leave with his people with their tails between their legs.
He wouldn’t wallow in self-pity over past pain.
Ye Tingtong quickly cheered up. “Where are we going now?”
Shen Jun asked, “Where do you want to go?”
His question made Ye Tingtong a little confused. “Aren’t we going to get the marriage certificate? Are we still going?”
His household registration book and ID card were still in his bag in the back seat.
Ye Tingtong picked up his phone and glanced at the time. “There’s only an hour left before the Civil Affairs Bureau closes. How long will it take us to drive there? Are we going to be too late?”
“Half an hour,” Shen Jun started the car. “We’ll make it.”
*
They were the last couple to register before the Civil Affairs Bureau closed. The staff was checking their identification documents. Shen Jun went to the side to answer a call, while Ye Tingtong waited with the assistant.
No wonder Shen Jun said they would make it. The assistant had already prepared everything in advance, they just needed to show up in person and submit it.
“But who edited this photo!” Ye Tingtong looked at the festive red background photo in his hand. “The redness on my face can’t be seen at all.”
He was also afraid of looking too ugly and looking strange when framed with Shen Jun. Now, at least on the surface, the two of them looked well-matched.
The assistant stood aside, carefully explaining, “It was sent to the company’s technicians to edit. As long as you’re satisfied.”
When the senior photo editor heard the task personally requested by President Shen, he was preparing to do a big job. When he received the photo, he asked him more than a dozen times, “Is this reasonable?”
After asking, he seemed to belatedly realize, “Wait, President Shen is getting married?!”
After all, it was a major event that needed to be kept secret. The other party closed the door in the restroom for ten minutes and carefully completed the task.
Ye Tingtong was admiring the photo when he suddenly noticed Shen Jun, who was on the phone, glance at him.
He blinked and silently mouthed, “What’s wrong?”
Shen Jun listened to the begging on the phone, looked away, and signaled that it was nothing.
“Little uncle, I beg you, can you help Ye Tingtong?” Shen Minghuai’s tone on the other end of the phone was urgent. “Recently, my mom has been keeping a close eye on me and won’t let me use the family’s resources to help Tingtong. I really have no way.”
“I only recently learned that the Ye family is after him. The only one I can think of is you, little uncle. If you need anything from me in the future, just say it.”
Last time on the cruise ship, he heard that Shen Jun had Ye Tingtong help him with a bet, and guessed that Shen Jun didn’t have a bad impression of Ye Tingtong, so he came to ask for help.
Shen Jun listened to his string of words and suddenly asked, “In what capacity are you asking?”
Shen Minghuai was stunned for a moment, “Little uncle, what do you mean?”
Shen Jun said bluntly, “What is Ye Tingtong to you? That you would even ask me for help.”
He and his brothers didn’t get along well to begin with. Although the younger generation wasn’t affected, he didn’t have much of a relationship with Shen Minghuai either.
For Shen Minghuai to ask him this, he must have already decided to give up certain benefits in exchange.
Shen Minghuai, who was speaking quickly, suddenly went silent. After a long while, he said reluctantly, “Tingtong is my roommate, and also my friend. Of course I—”
Beep beep…
Shen Jun hung up the phone directly.
When Ye Tingtong saw that Shen Jun had finished his call and came back, he asked casually, “What was it?”
Shen Jun’s expression was normal. “It was work-related, it’s been resolved.”
The two of them went to the staff together. When the staff was stamping the seal, she looked at Ye Tingtong uncertainly. “Are you getting married voluntarily?”
Ye Tingtong was stunned. He subconsciously lowered his head to look at his clothes.
Because he had fallen hard in the underground parking lot, the carefully chosen outfit had become dirty. Even though he had tried to pat it clean, it was still dirty.
He secretly turned his head to look at the person next to him.
Even after getting into a fight with someone, Shen Jun was still dressed neatly, wearing a black coat of a brand he didn’t recognize. His aura was outstanding.
The two of them sat together, a stark contrast.
In the past, Ye Tingtong thought he had a thick skin, but now, being seen through at a glance by an outsider, still made him feel a little sad.
He was just about to put on a stern face to retort when he heard Shen Jun say slowly, “Don’t worry, I won’t commit domestic violence against my partner. We are both doing this voluntarily.”
Ye Tingtong: “?”
The staff did not believe Shen Jun’s words. She looked at Ye Tingtong intently. “Are you doing this voluntarily? We can provide assistance at any time.”
Ye Tingtong then remembered that he had come to get the certificate with half of his face swollen. After seeing it, the staff thought that he had been beaten, and that the marriage was forced.
“No, you’ve misunderstood,” Ye Tingtong said, waving his hands repeatedly, “He didn’t hit me, I fell and that’s how my face got like this.”
The staff was still hesitant. She had seen too many examples of people being threatened into not telling the truth.
“Um, Shen—” Ye Tingtong changed his words halfway, “My husband is very good to me.”
After saying that, his ear tips turned a faint red.
In the end, they successfully obtained their little red books. After going out, Ye Tingtong saw something and suddenly grabbed Shen Jun’s sleeve. “You said earlier that after we got married, you would give me one hundred thousand every month.”
“Can I have a small advance?” He looked up at Shen Jun, using his thumb and index finger to make a small gap, “Just ten dollars is enough.”
It just so happened that the assistant had some change, so he gave Ye Tingtong ten dollars.
Ye Tingtong took the ten dollars and ran into a wedding shop not far away. Then he ran back to the Civil Affairs Bureau with a plastic bag, giving the bag of candy to the warm-hearted staff at the window.
Even though his face was bruised, everyone could see the arc of Ye Tingtong’s mouth and his smiling eyes.
Shen Jun waited at the door quietly.
The assistant glanced at the cheerful figure inside, then looked at his boss, a little confused.
Wasn’t this a contractual marriage?
Why did it seem so real?
