After Saving The Villain, He Had Sex With The Female Ghost. Chapter 14
byChapter 14 The Surinam Toad (III)
Gray-green sludge settled at the bottom of the water, densely covered by a layer of white bones. The bones were thin and delicate, and their shapes were easily recognizable—they all belonged to frogs. Above the white bones, a woman sat cross-legged with her back to Chu Yu, her body swaying as she seemed to be feeding eagerly.
A ribbon of blood flowed with the water. The mass of flesh on the woman’s back extended several limbs-like appendages that trembled slightly against the current. A chill ran down Chu Yu’s spine. She circled forward a couple of steps, wanting to see the woman’s face.
“Chu Yu!” Li Heru shouted from the bank. Chu Yu’s body stiffened. The next instant, the woman violently twisted her head around.
Her eyes were enormous and deeply sunken. She looked vastly different from the photo on the missing person flyer, but upon closer inspection, a few similarities could still be found.
Several bubbles emerged from her mouth. A half-eaten frog leg still hung from her lips, and she held a torn frog carcass in her hand, staring at Chu Yu with confusion.
Chu Yu froze for a moment, realizing she was underwater. A sharp pain shot through her lungs. Forced to act, she pushed upward with her hands and burst out of the water.
She gasped for air, inhaling the cold, damp, cement-smelling air. Before she could explain anything to the dumbfounded Li Heru, Chu Yu held a large breath and plunged back into the water.
This time, the woman seemed much calmer upon seeing her. She didn’t even look at Chu Yu, silently stuffing the frog leg into her mouth, chewing the skin and bone with a loud crunch. After cleanly picking the bones, she tossed them aside and turned to swim toward the deeper section.
The pressure in her ears was painful, and bubbles burst like thunder. Chu Yu was helpless and could only surface. Ignoring the splashing, murky water, she shouted toward the direction the woman was swimming: “Huang Lin! Are you Huang Lin!”
The next moment, the woman splashed out of the water, her expression terrified, and she hissed, “Shut up! Don’t disturb her!” Her spine trembled violently, as if something was about to burst forth.
At the same time, the pain in Chu Yu’s bandaged hand intensified sharply.
The woman placed one hand on her back and struggled to swim to the bank with the other. She lay on the walkway, which was covered in trash and sludge, and spoke in a soft, gentle voice: “Baby, don’t fuss… yes, Mommy is here… Mommy was wrong…”
Li Heru on the bank frowned tightly, and Chu Yu in the water twitched slightly at the corner of her eye.
The woman gently comforted the squirming mass of flesh on her back as if it were the most precious thing in the world. The scene before them was both absurd and ridiculous.
The pain in Chu Yu’s hand grew more severe. She gritted her teeth and clutched her hand, fine beads of sweat breaking out on her forehead. Li Heru curled her fingers slightly and lowered her eyebrows: “How about I kill them?”
“Don’t!” Chu Yu whispered. Sure enough, the woman’s gentle words had an effect. The mass of flesh on her back gradually calmed down, turning from violent spasms to slight tremors, occasionally emitting whimpering sounds, like an injured infant seeking comfort from its mother.
Chu Yu’s tense muscles also relaxed. She could feel the electric shock-like pain receding. This pain was similar to labor contractions, entirely controlled by the infant spirit on the woman’s back.
“Huang Lin! You are Huang Lin, aren’t you?” Chu Yu walked slowly toward her before she could leave, cautiously guarding against her escape while asking softly.
The woman didn’t answer, a cold curve appearing at the corner of her mouth. Then, she pushed off the bank with both hands, and the inertia caused her to slide back into the water. Chu Yu noticed that a blood mist had quietly risen over the surface of the pool.
Chu Yu looked at Li Heru, who raised an eyebrow, looking pleased.
“Go back and tell my mother to stop looking. I won’t go back,” the woman suddenly spoke when she reached the center of the pool. She was indeed Huang Lin.
Huang Lin intended to sink back into the water after speaking, but Li Heru’s long-dormant blood mist enveloped her completely. Tiny blood droplets adhered firmly to her body, trapping her in place and preventing her from moving.
She began to scream. The screaming woke the infant spirit on her back.
On this side, Li Heru’s slender fingers danced gracefully in the air, mobilizing the blood mist for the next wave of attack. On the other side, Chu Yu had already collapsed to her knees, large beads of sweat rolling down her face. Overwhelming pain surged from her hand, rushing to every nerve ending. Her vision blurred, and she clutched her hand, unable to utter a single word.
Li Heru’s competitive spirit was aroused, and her eyes were fixed only on the infant spirit in the blood mist, looking determined not to stop until she killed it.
Suddenly, she felt someone tugging at her pant leg. She glanced down and saw Chu Yu, who couldn’t speak, half-crouching and half-lying on the ground, her hand trembling slightly, but her intention was clear.
Stop fighting. If you keep fighting, I’m going to die first.
In the end, they let her go. Li Heru walked away with her head held high, while Chu Yu followed behind her like a wilted carrot, listless. Before leaving, she tore off another missing person flyer and stuffed it into her pocket.
“I definitely could have taken her down just now if your hand hadn’t acted up,” Li Heru sighed dramatically. Chu Yu reached out her hand to her.
Li Heru gave her a confused look.
“Just chop off my hand. If you chop it off, it won’t delay you taking her down,” Chu Yu said weakly.
Hearing this, Li Heru actually grabbed Chu Yu’s fair, well-defined wrist and bit down on it. Li Heru’s mouth was cold, wet, soft, and cool. Like a summer mint jelly.
Two sharp canine teeth pierced her flesh, making Chu Yu hiss in pain. When she looked again, the spot where she had been bitten had two deep, diamond-shaped holes, which precisely matched the two scars already on her wrist.
This was truly strange. The scars on her wrist had been there for a long time. Chu Yu examined them closely and found that her scars were also diamond-shaped, and the size and spacing were exactly the same as Li Heru’s bite marks.
“You bit this scar before, didn’t you?” Chu Yu joked. Li Heru was expressionless and snorted lightly: “Do you know how you got this scar?”
“No, I have a bad memory. I haven’t been able to recall many things since the car accident a long time ago,” Chu Yu shook her head.
Li Heru nodded, her tone flat: “I see.”
The two did not discuss the scar further, as they had more important things to do at the moment.
“Hello, are you Huang Lin’s family?” Chu Yu leaned back in her chair, staring at the speakerphone interface. The other side hesitated for a moment, and a middle-aged woman replied: “Yes… may I ask who this is?”
Her voice was restrained but couldn’t hide her excitement. “I saw the missing person flyer you posted at the aquarium. I have something I’d like to discuss with you in person. Are you available now?” Chu Yu tapped on the table.
“Ah, yes, we are available. It’s just that we’ve moved now, to Qingwa County. You name the time, and we’ll come over,” the woman said anxiously.
Upon hearing Qingwa County, Li Heru’s eyes lit up, and she mouthed to Chu Yu: “I want to go.” Chu Yu didn’t respond, and immediately, Li Heru started hitting her back, making loud slapping sounds.
“Ah, no need. I’ll come to you. I happen to have something to do in Qingwa County,” Chu Yu said, grasping Li Heru’s eager hand.
Before leaving, Chu Yu went to the hospital. “Their condition has worsened recently. Do you see any solution?” The person in charge was extremely worried. Sure enough, the arm of the props master, who previously had the mildest symptoms, now had open sores.
She saw that Chu Yu looked calm and didn’t seem worried about the prognosis, but the hand tightly gripping the bed rail betrayed her.
“I’ll be traveling soon. If things go smoothly, it won’t take long for the treatment to take effect. Please rest well and wait for me,” Chu Yu placed the bouquet she brought next to the bed.
After bidding farewell to the grateful person in charge, the two left the hospital. Li Heru’s expression was not good.
“What about your hand? Have you had it looked at?” Her tone was unfriendly. Chu Yu scratched her head, unsure how to answer. Not only had she not seen a doctor, but she hadn’t even changed the bandage.
It wasn’t fear; she just found it disgusting and nauseating, so she simply pretended it didn’t exist. Anyway, it wouldn’t kill her. She was always meticulous with others, but only toward herself was she careless and sloppy.
Back home, following Li Heru’s instructions, she lit three incense sticks, crookedly inserting them into the censer, and bowed three times. She didn’t understand why, but she did whatever Li Heru told her to do. She was an instrument in Li Heru’s hands, to be used however she wished.
The incense smoke curled up and gradually turned into mist. Only when the mist disappeared did Li Heru open her eyes. She stood up, easily picked up the small medicine box, and held up the scissors to Chu Yu: “Come here, time to change the dressing.”
Chu Yu suddenly realized that it took a lot of effort for Li Heru to touch physical objects. She had to light the incense first to be able to touch things, and she had done this just to change Chu Yu’s dressing.
Chu Yu felt a moment of gratitude. She obediently sat next to Li Heru, only to see Li Heru pull a mask out of a drawer.
“I think your wound is going to smell terrible. I’m going to prepare myself first. Do you want one?” Li Heru offered her one. Chu Yu silently shook her head.
In reality, there wasn’t much smell, but it looked terrifying—the kind that would require blurring if it were shown in a horror movie. Li Heru frowned tightly and left for a moment.
When she returned, she was fully equipped: mask, sunglasses, hat, gloves, and even a face shield she had found somewhere. This display made Chu Yu slow her breathing: “Can you see clearly with the sunglasses on?” Chu Yu asked nervously.
“I can see clearly if you shut up,” Li Heru’s hands didn’t stop moving. Her words were harsh, but her movements were extremely meticulous. After the dressing change, half a box of cotton swabs was used, yet Chu Yu felt no pain.
Watching her tuck the last bit of gauze into the gap, Chu Yu couldn’t help but pull her hand back to look. The gauze was wrapped tightly and neatly, and the knot was tied very beautifully, much better than the bandages she wrapped herself.
“Did you used to work in a hospital?” Chu Yu asked while tidying the medicine box. Li Heru, resting on the sofa, stiffened and opened her closed eyes.
“Of course not,” she said.
“Ah, well, your hands are very skillful then,” Chu Yu subtly changed the subject. She blamed her own mental lapse. If someone was familiar with changing dressings but didn’t work in a hospital, what else could it be? Either a family member was sick, or she herself was sick.
Asking about either was impolite.
“Let me treat you to a big meal as thanks for changing my dressing,” Chu Yu said, seeing Li Heru sitting listlessly. This immediately cheered her up.
“No, we’ll eat in Qingwa County,” Li Heru sat up abruptly.
Chu Yu was quite surprised: “There isn’t much good food in Qingwa County. It’s just a very small town.”
“Ah, I haven’t told you, have I? I spent my childhood there.” Li Heru’s eyes were sparkling.
Hearing this, Chu Yu paused. She looked up in surprise: “Me too.”
