Chapter 2: Pregnancy

“The results are out.” The doctor walked over and handed the ultrasound report to Ye Mingyuan.

Ye Mingyuan silently took it. He didn’t look at it much before passing it to Lin Jun.

Lin Jun leaned back in the chair, lifting his eyelids to glance at Ye Mingyuan before reaching out to take the ultrasound report.

Looking at the blurry shadows on the paper, Lin Jun frowned even harder. “How do I read this?”

“…” The doctor cautiously sidled up to Lin Jun, extending a finger to point at a small shadowy area on the paper. “This is the embryo. It’s already seven weeks old.”

Lin Jun: “…” What the hell could he see from this?!

Before he could say anything more, the doctor quickly retreated.

It wasn’t that he was cowardly. Right after the ultrasound, Lin Jun had another fight with Ye Mingyuan. This time, Ye Mingyuan didn’t fight back, only protecting vital points, allowing Lin Jun to beat him up.

Fighting a worthy opponent could ignite someone’s fighting spirit, but hitting someone who didn’t fight back was no fun at all. Lin Jun stopped after a few blows.

With a belly full of anger and nowhere to vent, Lin Jun was on the verge of exploding.

Looking at the small shadow on the ultrasound report, Lin Jun took a deep breath.

Reincarnation was one thing, but why did he suddenly have a child in his stomach?!

In an era with sufficiently advanced technology, the problem of same-sex birth had long been solved. With a minor surgery, men could also have reproductive capabilities. The child would grow in the womb for eight months before being transferred to an incubation chamber to mature.

Lin Jun didn’t remember ever having such a surgery.

“Can you check the genes of this embryo? I want to know who the father is.”

Once he found out, he would definitely castrate that person first!

The doctor was slightly taken aback. “You don’t know who the father is?”

Lin Jun was annoyed by his gaze. “Can you check or not?!”

The doctor shrank back slightly, startled. “This…it can’t be checked until it’s transferred to the incubation chamber.”

“But…” Lin Jun was about to say something when Ye Mingyuan interrupted, “No need to check. The child is mine.”

Lin Jun froze on the spot. He turned his head slowly, like a robot being wound up. “You, say, what?”

Ye Mingyuan stood not far away, his face expressionless, as if he were merely stating a fact. “The child in your stomach, besides being mine, whose else could it be?”

Lin Jun’s cheeks puffed up little by little. He gritted his teeth, almost laughing out of anger. “Say that again?”

Ye Mingyuan, however, seemed not to see the strong threat in his eyes, looking directly into Lin Jun’s eyes. “I said…”

A murderous intent flashed through Lin Jun’s eyes. Just as the fist at his side was about to be raised, the doctor suddenly mustered his courage and stood between the two.

    “Is your memory impaired?”

“Memory impaired?” The anger in Lin Jun’s eyes hadn’t dissipated. He glanced at the doctor, causing him to retreat two steps.

Afraid that the two would start fighting again, the doctor disregarded his fear and bravely spoke up. “The pregnancy chamber implantation surgery requires both the person and their partner to sign their consent. Do you remember this?”

    Lin Jun: “…I don’t remember.”

He had lived for nearly forty years in his previous life and had never had this surgery. This was why Lin Jun was so certain that he couldn’t be pregnant, but now that the facts were before him, Lin Jun had to wonder if there was something wrong with his memory.

The black-haired young man lowered his head, his handsome brows furrowed slightly, as if he were thinking about something.

The doctor breathed a sigh of relief, taking a small personal terminal from behind the desk and fiddling with it. “If you had the surgery in a regular hospital, the hospital’s internal network should have a record.”

Semi-transparent light screens popped up continuously, and the doctor tapped a few times in the air. “Your ID number.”

“…” Lin Jun’s face was dark, and he didn’t speak.

The doctor coughed slightly in embarrassment. “This…if you don’t want to check…”

Before he could finish his sentence, a deep voice rang out, “4280XXXXXXXXXXXX.”

Ye Mingyuan’s expression didn’t change much, but his eyes never left Lin Jun. “Check mine.”

Lin Jun’s face darkened even more, but he didn’t say anything to stop him.

A long string of numbers was entered into the system, and soon the record stored in the internal network popped up.

    [Pregnancy Chamber Implantation Informed Consent]

“I voluntarily undergo pregnancy chamber implantation surgery…”

The ending bore two signatures: Lin Jun, Ye Mingyuan.

    Lin Jun: “…”

A thunderclap exploded in his mind. Lin Jun felt that the resilient worldview he had built up over a decade of battlefield experience had collapsed completely in a single day.

He was reborn, reborn more than a decade in the past, and he even had a child with his nemesis, Ye Mingyuan!

    Was this world crazy?!

The semi-transparent light screen hovered in mid-air, showing everyone present the undeniable truth.

Ye Mingyuan had been observing Lin Jun’s expression. He still had that aloof expression, but his knuckles, which were turning white from clenching, betrayed his unease at this moment.

“You don’t remember anything.” The sea-blue eyes stared at him intently. “You…don’t remember me.”

Ye Mingyuan spoke each of the last few words with great difficulty.

He had thought of countless possibilities, but he had never thought that Lin Jun would completely forget him. The way Lin Jun looked at him was like looking at a stranger, no, worse than a stranger…

Lin Jun treated him like an enemy.

“Don’t look at me like that.” Lin Jun turned his head uncomfortably.

Logically speaking, what he should do now was to beat up the person in front of him first and then castrate him with a knife. But being looked at by Ye Mingyuan with such eyes, he was surprised to find that he actually couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Why did it seem like he was an ungrateful scumbag? He was the one who was pregnant, not Ye Mingyuan!

Lin Jun’s mind was in a mess. He turned his head almost as if running away. “I’m going back first.”

As soon as he took a step forward, Ye Mingyuan followed.

“You…don’t follow me!” Lin Jun turned back sharply, warning him.

    Ye Mingyuan paused.

Here it comes again. Lin Jun awkwardly avoided Ye Mingyuan’s eyes and turned to leave.

This time, Ye Mingyuan didn’t chase after him. He stood not far away, just watching Lin Jun’s figure disappear through the door.

The doctor didn’t expect things to develop like this. He looked carefully at the young man in front of him and said comfortingly, “He suffered a slight head injury when he was hurt. It’s normal to have memory lapses. Maybe he’ll remember in a few days.”

Ye Mingyuan bit his lip tightly. He turned his face away, not saying anything.

When he turned back, Ye Mingyuan had returned to normal. “Thank you for today.”

The doctor waved his hands, flattered. “It’s nothing, it’s my duty.”

Ye Mingyuan nodded slightly to the doctor and took out his personal terminal to pay the fees.

Just as Ye Mingyuan was about to leave, the doctor hesitated for a moment and still spoke up. “His memory is impaired. It might not be safe for him to go out alone…”

Before he could finish his words, there was a “bang” at the door. The person who had just been in the room was gone.

Lin Jun had just come out of the school hospital when a public flying vehicle came head-on. Without thinking, he swiped his terminal and boarded the vehicle.

The scenery outside the window flashed by, and small flying vehicles constantly flew past the window. In the open training ground not far away, several mecha could be seen fighting.

Everything in front of him was familiar and unfamiliar. After graduating from school in his previous life, he had directly entered the military unit and had only returned to his alma mater once during the school anniversary.

The Imperial Military Academy was the best military academy in the entire Star Territory, located on a small planet less than one light-year away from the Capital Star. In addition to the academy area and the living area, the school also had several combat experience zones.

The school had dedicated public flying vehicles that stopped at each key station, and fortunately, Lin Jun still remembered these stations and routes.

The school hospital wasn’t far from the dormitory area, and the flying vehicle soon stopped at the roadside again. But just as he was about to get off the vehicle, there was a sudden loud noise not far away. Two small flying vehicles had collided.

Lin Jun turned back when he heard the noise. The two flying vehicles seemed to have collided quite badly. Both vehicles were damaged to some extent, and some flying vehicle parts were floating in the flight path not far away.

Someone next to him was discussing in a low voice, “Damn it, there’s going to be a traffic jam again. Luckily, I don’t have classes today.”

Lin Jun didn’t stay any longer and turned to walk towards the dormitory building.

Following his vague memory, Lin Jun successfully found the dormitory with the number 605 on the door.

He placed his terminal on the light screen on the door, and the door opened with a “beep.”

Lin Jun breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he hadn’t remembered wrong.

The Imperial Military Academy was rich and generous, and all students had double rooms. Lin Jun had always lived in the same dormitory as Meng Yi in the academy, so when he saw two pairs of slippers at the door, Lin Jun didn’t feel anything was wrong.

Having only been awake for half a day, Lin Jun felt extremely tired. He sat in the chair in the dormitory and called up his personal terminal.

A semi-transparent screen popped up in the air.

The time was written in the upper right corner of the screen: Star Calendar 583, November 5th.

It was exactly fifteen years from the time he was decorated. It seemed that he had indeed been reborn.

In these fifteen years, he graduated from school, entered the Lin family’s army, and guarded the Empire’s Third Star Region with his father and brother. Later, the Third Prince led his mother’s family in a rebellion and established himself as king in the Fifth Star Region. Later, the insectoids invaded, and the entire Empire fell into war. His father and brother both died in the counterattack…

Lin Jun exhaled a long breath.

Now none of this had happened yet, and there was still room for change.

As for the child in his stomach…

Lin Jun reached out and touched his abdomen with a bit of a headache. It was still very flat there, and he could only feel slightly raised abdominal muscles.

Before figuring out the truth, he didn’t want to sentence this child to death so quickly.

“…I’ll ask Meng Yi tonight.” Lin Jun shook his head, forcibly shaking the child out of his mind.

The sticky feeling on his body made Lin Jun feel very uncomfortable. He rubbed his temples and turned to walk into the bathroom.

The sound of rushing water in the bathroom was endless, and the glass was covered with a thick layer of water vapor.

The personal terminal thrown on the bed kept popping up with call invitations, but the owner of the terminal wasn’t nearby.

Ye Mingyuan clenched his personal terminal tightly, sending call invitations to Lin Jun again and again, tirelessly.

“Has the flight path not been cleared yet?” Ye Mingyuan turned his head to look out the window.

In the mid-air not far away, two cleaning vehicles were diligently cleaning the wreckage of the flying vehicle in the flight path.

Looking at the long line of flying vehicles, Ye Mingyuan clenched his fist little by little.

The emergency window inside the flying vehicle was suddenly pushed open, and the whistling wind poured in through the open window.

The person standing at the window was caught off guard and almost blown away. He reached out and grabbed the handrail to steady himself and couldn’t help but curse, “Are you sick! Who opened the emergency window!”

Before he could finish cursing, there were bursts of exclamations in the cabin.

He followed everyone’s gaze and looked out the window, only to see a flash of blue light in front of him, and a mech appeared in mid-air.

The mech’s entire body glowed with a turquoise light, and large-scale lethal weapons were mounted on its arms and shoulders. Just looking at the bionic materials on the surface of the mech, one could tell that it must be expensive to build.

“Wow!” The boy widened his eyes in surprise, but unfortunately, before he could appreciate it, the mech had crossed many flying vehicles on the flight path and flew towards the dormitory area.

The students on the flying vehicle were talking all at once.

“Holy crap, is he crazy?! Using a mech to get around?!”

“He actually has his own mech! Damn it, so rich!”

“That’s a combat mech. He’s using a combat mech in a non-training area. Isn’t he afraid of being disciplined by the school?!”
