After Hooking Up With The Wrong Cold Professor Chapter 1
byChapter 1
Sunlight filtered through the window, casting a soft glow across the room. If the window hadn’t been facing west, it would have been difficult to tell whether it was morning or evening just by looking at the half-sun hidden among the mountains.
Xia Yize let out a yawn, shifted his posture, and closed his eyes again. The restart had failed.
It was only after the eighth alarm that he finally sat up.
An hour later, Xia Yize appeared in his livestream room. A banner hung behind him that read “Anti-Scumbag Alliance,” and his handle was Anti-Scumbag Leader.
He used to hang a sign that said “Scumbags deserve a miserable death,” but the livestream platform had issued a warning, banning the use of uncivilized language.
After being forced to replace that sentence, Xia Yize had secretly turned it into a small desk ornament, letting only half of it show in the frame.
He leaned lazily against a silver chair, wearing a medieval-style French shirt. The two ribbons at the collar hung loosely, and two buttons were undone, partially revealing his collarbones. His slender fingers propped up his chin, and his peach blossom eyes were half-open, misty and alluring. A pair of silver-rimmed glasses rested on the bridge of his nose, and a silver-gray mask covered the lower half of his face.
Xia Yize looked at the scrolling comments with an expressionless gaze, looking like unreachable snow atop a high mountain.
Leader, you’re ten minutes late today.
The Leader’s watch is enough to buy a house. Total rich-boy aesthetic.
Leader, link with me!
Xia Yize shifted his position and moved his mouse. “Welcome to the livestream.” His voice was just as lazy as his posture, sounding like a slow stretch that intentionally revealed a hint of seduction.
“Same old rules. We’ll start the mic-link with the Top Donor.” After several weeks, he could finally find the mic-link button proficiently. At first, he had secretly complained that the interface design was so illogical it made the audience wait forever, causing him to lose several new fans.
The queue for mic-link requests was already long, and the gift effects on the screen were nearly burying him.
The first person connected. “Leader, I found out my boyfriend lied to me. He’s not with me because he likes me; he’s just doing it to spite his ex-girlfriend,” a girl said with a sob in her voice.
Xia Yize always softened when he heard a girl cry, so he joined in the cursing. “A scumbag who doesn’t cherish other people’s feelings will get his karma sooner or later. He thinks he’s clever, but he’s just a low-life emotional scammer. He has no bottom line, just taking advantage of the fact that a girl likes him.”
Once Xia Yize started talking about scumbags, he couldn’t stop. He was like a patient who had become a doctor through long-term illness; every word he used to curse scumbags in his livestreams came from the heart.
The comments followed suit. Two-timing is so disgusting.
This guy is truly low.
The girl sniffled. “Then what should I do?”
Xia Yize took a deep breath to compose his emotions. “A scumbag like that isn’t worth another second of your time. Break up and leave. But if you really can’t swallow your pride, then under the premise of protecting yourself, strike where it hurts. Since he wants to spite his ex, you could try seeing if the ex-girlfriend can become your ally. The actual execution depends on more specific details.”
You can’t let a scumbag off that easily.
The greatest contempt is to ignore him. Just break up.
“Alright babies, next one,” Xia Yize said, imitating the tone of a shopkeeper welcoming customers.
He scrolled his mouse and saw a familiar avatar. “It looks like baby Qingqing has time to visit the livestream today. Let’s link with this VVVIP, the livestream’s biggest shareholder.”
The other party connected but didn’t speak. Xia Yize used a coaxing tone. “Heartbroken again?”
Five minutes passed without a word from the other side, only the sound of sniffling and sobbing.
Xia Yize leaned back in his chair and waited for the other person to calm down. He understood the feeling; not long ago, he had been in the same state.
Who is this? If they aren’t talking, move to the next one. Are all these people supposed to wait for him to finish crying?
He’s a veteran of this room. The fact that this livestream has lasted this long is all thanks to baby Qingqing’s financial power.
Baby Qingqing is the nickname the Leader gave him. He’s got a head full of green grass, the ultimate Love Brain.
After a while, Qingqing coughed a few times before speaking. His voice was hoarse. “I was tricked by a scumbag. He didn’t just play with my feelings; he even scammed me out of my money!!”
Time to witness a real scumbag. The gay circle is so messy.
“What’s even worse is… I still can’t let him go.” The last few words were punctuated by a sob.
“Tell me more.” Xia Yize sat up straight, moving closer to the camera and pushing up his glasses, looking like an attentive listener.
Qingqing said a few words but couldn’t control his sobbing. Finally, he typed on the screen: Let’s meet at the usual place.
“Alright.” Xia Yize closed the mic-link requests. “I’ll go see what happened this time on your behalf, and I’ll come back to tell you all the story.”
He pressed his palms together. “Babies, I’m ending the stream for today. To make it up to you, I’ll send out red envelopes in the group. You all love baby Qingqing too, right?”
Xia Yize closed the livestream and spent a moment comforting the fans in the group.
He took off the fake watch and turned around to move the whiteboard with the banner to the side of the wall. Behind the whiteboard was his bed. The roof leaked, and a few patches of plaster had fallen from the ceiling. The entire room was about fifty square meters. The most expensive thing in it was the chair he used for his livestreams.
The meager income from streaming was nowhere near enough to maintain his previous quality of life. Money had to be spent where it counted. When going out, clothes made the man; he couldn’t do without his outfits and his ride.
Xia Yize opened his wardrobe, which was filled with expensive clothes, making the room look even more pathetic by comparison.
He sprayed two pumps of perfume on his wrists and picked up his car keys. This silver Continental GT was actually borrowed from Qingqing.
He patted the steering wheel. “Big brother is taking you out for some fun. Once I make it big, I’ll return you to your real owner.”
With a nod, his black sunglasses slid down his silver hair, covering most of his face. Twenty minutes later, he arrived at the bar he visited every day.
He pushed open the car door, and a pair of handmade Italian leather shoes hit the ground. His well-fitted trousers wrapped around his long legs, and the hem of his wool coat caught the wind. He handed the keys to the valet.
He headed to the private booth Qingqing reserved year-round. Qingqing had opened a bottle of Macallan and was drinking alone. Under the lights and music, he looked quite miserable.
Xia Yize sat down. It was rare to see Qingqing without makeup. His hair was unwashed, and the dark circles under his eyes made him look several years older.
Xia Yize took the glass from Qingqing’s hand. Qingqing looked up, his eyes shimmering with tears. He said aggrievedly, “You won’t even let me drink.”
“Don’t drink when you’re sad.” Xia Yize gently patted the back of Qingqing’s head. “Tell me, what happened?”
Qingqing’s mouth puckered, and a large tear fell. “Men really can’t be trusted.”
Qingqing spoke in fits and starts. “He’s an Associate Professor. He looks all dignified and refined, acting so reserved and steady on the surface. I was completely fooled by his appearance.”
Xia Yize wasn’t surprised. It was the same story every time.
“I was planning on a long-term relationship with him, but he was actually going out with other men behind my back! I found out because he used my card to pay for a hotel room. I confronted him, and he admitted it, but he had the nerve to say I had no evidence and couldn’t do anything to him. He even said I was a Love Brain who deserved to be cheated on. I gave him my family’s heirloom inkstone, and he sold it as second-hand goods. I still haven’t been able to contact the buyer.”
Xia Yize’s eyes widened at the mention of the heirloom inkstone. “Your dad didn’t beat you to death?”
Qingqing suddenly grabbed his wrist. “You have to save me.”
“Help you buy back the inkstone?” Xia Yize gave a bitter smile. “Should I sell myself?”
“No. I want you to help me seduce him and get evidence of his cheating. He’s up for a Promotion to Professor soon. A person with such bad character shouldn’t be allowed to move up; he’ll just mislead his students. I want to expose him and let the school and his students see his true face.”
“Me, playing the third party? That doesn’t seem right,” Xia Yize said hesitantly, swirling his glass.
Qingqing pulled at his clothes, looking like he was about to beg for his life. “Don’t worry, I won’t let your face be shown when I expose him. If anything leaks, I’ll help you clear it up.”
Qingqing took a deep breath, his large eyes looking at him piteously. “Do you know how it feels to be betrayed? I feel like stabbing him right now and going down with him. Saving a life is better than building a seven-storied pagoda. Just think of it as saving my life, or I’ll eventually die of anger.”
Xia Yize certainly knew the feeling of being betrayed. If it weren’t for a scumbag, he wouldn’t be in a position where he couldn’t go home, living such a destitute life and spending his days cursing scumbags in a livestream. If Qingqing hadn’t been helping him out, he would have starved on the streets long ago. Now that Qingqing was being bullied by a scumbag, he couldn’t just stand by.
For the sake of brotherhood, if he had to seduce someone, he would.
Xia Yize downed a glass as if making a vow. “Leave it to me.”
Qingqing hugged him, nearly smothering him. “I knew you loved me the most. Since we were kids, there hasn’t been a man you couldn’t handle.”
Xia Yize pushed him away and wiped his face. Qingqing laughed and sent him a large red envelope.
Just as Xia Yize was about to decline it, Qingqing pressed his hand down. “It’s for your battle gear. You need to charm him the moment you show up. With your current financial situation, don’t be polite with me. Don’t worry, I still have enough money to spend.”
Xia Yize thought about this year’s new autumn arrivals. Why be shy about a brother’s money? He accepted it!
With teary eyes, Qingqing sent him a string of numbers. “This is his phone number. I’ll send you a file with his information later. Know yourself and know your enemy.”
Qingqing thought for a long time and then cried out, “I only know he’s an Associate Professor and this phone number. He actually told me nothing else!”
“How did you two communicate?” Xia Yize found it unbelievable.
“We met offline. At the end of one meeting, we’d set the time for the next date. He said that in the old days, travel was slow, and the feeling of missing someone was romantic.” Qingqing’s eyes were misty, but the mist turned into anger and shame as he covered his face. “Love really does lower your IQ.”
Xia Yize massaged his temples. Fine. “A number is enough. I’ll add his WeChat first.”
He searched by the number. The avatar was a photo of a man in a shirt giving a lecture, looking like a high-level intellectual. A total hypocrite.
He switched to a different WeChat account. The avatar for this one was a charming young man with curly hair holding a flower.
He would give this piece of trash ten minutes. Accept within ten minutes if you want to keep your dignity.
Xia Yize snatched Qingqing’s glass again and pointed toward the dance floor. “Look at all these young people. Pick one and start over.”
Without waiting for Qingqing’s response, he pulled him down. The DJ was spinning, streamers were flying, and people were swaying their bodies.
Qingqing got drunk that night. Xia Yize draped his coat over Qingqing’s shoulders and had a designated driver take him home before heading back himself.
That night, lying on his shabby bed, he checked his phone several times. The man still hadn’t accepted his request. He had time to flirt with a third party but no time to check his phone?
He searched again and browsed through a few status updates. The scumbag checked-in for a run every day. Xia Yize snorted. He was putting on a healthy persona, but in reality, he’d take anything he could get.
What a poser!
Xia Yize looked at his running times and locations. They were actually very consistent every day. He set an alarm.
Bring it on, scumbag! Our paths are about to cross! You’re dead!
