Chapter Index

Ye Qingyun was stunned, feeling sweat break out in their clasped palms. It was sticky, and given what Gu Shenyuan had just said, the atmosphere felt even more charged with intimacy.

“…Are you joking?” Ye Qingyun asked, disbelievingly.

If Gu Shenyuan were willing to engage in certain close-contact activities with him, although Ye Qingyun couldn’t quite imagine what Gu Shenyuan would look like then, he still thought it was possible.

But for Gu Shenyuan to kiss every inch… that was too strange. It was completely unimaginable and utterly inconsistent with Gu Shenyuan’s cold and aloof image!

“It’s not a joke.” Gu Shenyuan’s voice carried a certain oppressive quality in the darkness. Ye Qingyun heard the sound of the quilt rustling as Gu Shenyuan moved closer. His magnetic voice sounded right next to Ye Qingyun’s ear. “Qingyun… you are very sweet.”

Ye Qingyun froze. Before he could say anything, Gu Shenyuan left a light kiss on his ear, then pulled back.

“Sleep now. Good night,” Gu Shenyuan said.

Ye Qingyun closed his eyes, the edge of the kissed ear burning hot. His mind began to race with wild thoughts.

Did it just end like that?

Why was he actually feeling a little disappointed?

It was over. He had changed. He was no longer the all-ages Ye Qingyun he used to be. Without realizing it, he had upgraded to a level restricted to minors!

When Ye Qingyun returned this time, Gu Shenyuan didn’t let him wander around freely. Instead, he immediately arranged a health checkup.

Once all the doctors were present, Gu Shenyuan informed Ye Qingyun about the plan.

Ye Qingyun certainly wouldn’t refuse a free physical examination, especially since the doctors checking him were all famous names in the galaxy. Ye Qingyun was more than happy to comply with Gu Shenyuan’s arrangements.

After a series of examinations, the medical report was quickly released. Most doctors stated that Ye Qingyun was very healthy, except for one neurologist.

This doctor had been specially invited by Gu Shenyuan and was highly experienced in studying amnesia.

The doctor looked at Ye Qingyun, then at the report in his hand, his expression serious.

“Doctor, what is it? Is something wrong with me?” Ye Qingyun asked nervously.

Could his amnesia be a precursor to some kind of terminal illness?

Ye Qingyun instinctively looked at Gu Shenyuan. Sure enough, Gu Shenyuan’s expression immediately darkened.

“It’s nothing major,” the doctor said, pushing up his glasses and looking at Gu Shenyuan. “May I speak with you privately?”

“Why talk privately? I need to hear it too!” Ye Qingyun objected.

The doctor’s words made it sound like he was about to die and the doctor wanted to secretly inform Gu Shenyuan so he could happily spend his last days.

That was too melodramatic. No, he had to hear everything clearly. What if he could cure the illness himself?

Gu Shenyuan squeezed his hand and nodded to the doctor: “He will listen here as well. You may speak directly.”

The doctor coughed awkwardly: “Then I will speak plainly. Mr. Ye’s brain suffered a certain degree of impact, causing some areas within the brain to become disorganized, which led to amnesia. This amnesia is recoverable. In past cases, people who sustained damage to this specific area and developed amnesia eventually recall their past memories one day.”

Gu Shenyuan did not relax. He asked, “Will this disorganization affect his physical health?”

The doctor quickly replied, “Please rest assured, this will not cause physical harm. Mr. Ye’s body is very healthy.”

Only then did Gu Shenyuan completely breathe a sigh of relief.

Ye Qingyun was more curious about recovering his memory: “Can I recover my memory? How long will it take?”

“I cannot give you an exact date; there is no fixed timeline,” the doctor said. “But based on our analysis, it could be as short as a few months or as long as several decades. You will recover it eventually.”

Ye Qingyun felt a little disappointed but quickly cheered up.

Maybe he would recover his memory in just a few days. This was not something that could be rushed, so it was better to let nature take its course.

But if his amnesia was benign, why had the doctor’s expression been so serious just now?

Sure enough, Ye Qingyun heard the doctor speak again: “However, what I wanted to discuss is not the amnesia itself, but the secondary issues that come with it.”

The doctor organized his thoughts and explained to them: “This specific area of the brain is highly susceptible to emotional influence. According to the report, if a person with damage to this area experiences emotional deception during their period of amnesia, they will develop an intense aversion to the person who lied once their memory recovers.”

Ye Qingyun and Gu Shenyuan were silent for a moment. Ye Qingyun found the situation incredible, while Gu Shenyuan was thinking much deeper.

Finally, Gu Shenyuan asked in a low voice, “What do you mean by… emotional deception?”

“That is…” The doctor glanced at Ye Qingyun again. Seeing that Ye Qingyun had no intention of leaving and Gu Shenyuan wasn’t trying to dismiss him, he could only reluctantly continue, “For example, if Mr. Ye asks you whether you have liked anyone else besides him before, and the answer is yes, but you give a negative reply, then you have committed an act of emotional deception against Mr. Ye. If Mr. Ye recovers his memory and never learns the truth, that’s fine. But if Mr. Ye learns the truth and realizes you lied to him, there is a high probability that he will develop an aversion that he cannot suppress, even himself.”

    Ye Qingyun: “!”

Was there such a miraculous thing? Didn’t that mean Gu Shenyuan could only tell him the truth?

Ye Qingyun turned his head to look at Gu Shenyuan. Gu Shenyuan’s expression remained unchanged, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.

Gu Shenyuan thought of something and asked, “Does this apply to all questions regarding emotional matters?”

“Yes. Please do not harbor any illusions of getting away with it,” the doctor said sternly.

After the consultation was complete, they prepared to leave, taking Ye Qingyun with them.

Walking down the long corridor, Ye Qingyun looked around, confirming they were alone, and nudged Gu Shenyuan’s shoulder: “Are you scared? Do you have anything you want to tell me?”

    Gu Shenyuan smiled slightly.

Ye Qingyun thought about it and decided to suppress his curiosity, choosing not to dig into Gu Shenyuan’s little secrets: “If there’s anything you can’t talk about, just tell me early, and I won’t ask.”

Water that is too clear has no fish. What if he asked too many questions, and Gu Shenyuan answered truthfully, only to reveal some irrelevant but upsetting details?

It was better to turn a blind eye and not be too demanding.

“There is nothing I cannot tell you,” Gu Shenyuan held Ye Qingyun’s hand and said slowly. “You are the first and the last person I will ever love. There are no exes, there will be no successors, I will not cheat, and my heart will not change. This is my promise to you, and it is the truth.”

Hearing such a declaration, Ye Qingyun’s face instantly flushed.

Good heavens, how could Gu Shenyuan, a high-mountain-flower Protagonist who was usually silent and not at all eloquent, come up with words like that?

He used to be someone who could face countless admirers without batting an eye, yet now he was blushing and his heart was racing because of a single sentence. Truly, times had changed!

Gu Shenyuan looked at Ye Qingyun’s happy expression, smiled very faintly, and then quickly lowered the corners of his mouth.

He had nothing to hide regarding Ye Qingyun’s inquiries; he would tell him everything truthfully.

What he feared hearing, and what he didn’t want to hear, was Ye Qingyun’s curiosity about his past emotional experiences.

If Ye Qingyun asked him how they met, and whether they instantly fell in love after meeting, how should he answer?

Should he tell Ye Qingyun that it wasn’t like that, and that Ye Qingyun had liked someone else at the time, not him?

And then what? If Ye Qingyun became interested in that person, would he have to recount everything to Ye Qingyun? Tell him that was the person Ye Qingyun loved most, his white moonlight, and that based on the degree of affection, he might even rank behind that person?

He was not the type of person who could coexist peacefully with a Love Rival. He lacked the so-called “main wife” composure and the broad-mindedness to tolerate others.

He wanted Ye Qingyun to only think of him and only miss him, just like he did now.

If the day truly came when he had to personally tell Ye Qingyun that he still liked someone else, it would undoubtedly be like cutting flesh from his own heart.

…All he could do now was hope that Ye Qingyun wouldn’t be interested in his past.

Ye Qingyun didn’t know what Gu Shenyuan was thinking. He only felt that he and Gu Shenyuan were perfectly matched. Neither of them had been in a relationship, so they could slowly learn everything about romance together. Plus, they didn’t have to worry about the other person getting jealous over an ex-boyfriend. It was simply perfect!

That evening, after dinner, Ye Qingyun leaned against Gu Shenyuan while watching TV.

The program was a travel show, and the location featured felt strangely familiar to Ye Qingyun.

On screen, the beautiful host was delivering the opening lines: [Hello, viewers! This is the weekly, unmissable Global Journey. This time, our intergalactic tour brings you to the lovers’ dating paradise—Romance Star! I’m sure everyone watching is very familiar with this place.]

The camera moved away from the host, panning over the scenery behind her.

Ye Qingyun really did feel a sense of familiarity. Had he and Gu Shenyuan been here before?

The camera returned to the host, who continued: [It’s time for Romance Star’s annual competition day again! Guess what the final winner’s prize is this time? Ta-da—we’ve already found out for you!]

The host brought her hands out from behind her back, holding several photos. The photos showed a pendant, exquisitely designed and crafted.

The host spoke enthusiastically: [The organizers searched for a long time and spent a fortune purchasing the finest Stone of Love, which was then carved and designed by a master craftsman to create this pendant. Legend has it that the Stone of Love possesses mysterious power, ensuring that the person who gives it and the person who receives it will love each other forever, staying together until old age.]

Ye Qingyun subconsciously reached up to touch his neck. It was empty; there was nothing there.

…He wanted that pendant, and he wanted Gu Shenyuan to give it to him personally.

The host then began to explain how to win the pendant. After participating in the competition, the champion with the highest combat strength would win the final prize.

The host smiled and said: [The number of participants this year has hit a new high. I wonder what kind of experts will emerge?]

Ye Qingyun genuinely wanted and liked the pendant, but as soon as he heard the entry requirements, he immediately gave up the idea of obtaining it.

Although Gu Shenyuan was immensely powerful and could easily crush everyone, what was Gu Shenyuan’s status? How could he lower himself to participate in such an event? If he actually went, wouldn’t people point fingers at Gu Shenyuan? Gu Shenyuan definitely wouldn’t want to show his face like that.

Forget it. There would surely be something better in the future, and he would ask Gu Shenyuan to buy it for him then.

Ye Qingyun wanted to change the channel, unwilling to continue listening to the host’s praise of the pendant, but before he could move, Gu Shenyuan grabbed his wrist.

    “What’s wrong?” Ye Qingyun asked.

“You like that,” Gu Shenyuan stated with certainty.

“I don’t like it… Okay, I do like it,” Ye Qingyun admitted under Gu Shenyuan’s seemingly all-knowing gaze. “You’re not thinking of using special privileges to just take the item, are you? Please don’t. We must be civilized. It’s just a small ornament; it’s fine if we don’t have it.”

“I won’t use force,” Gu Shenyuan’s eyes softened. “I will obtain it through legitimate means and give it to you.”

    Legitimate means?

Ye Qingyun was startled, then quickly realized and hurriedly tried to stop him: “You want to go there and take first place? You really don’t have to. You don’t like participating in these kinds of activities, do you? Don’t force yourself—”

Ye Qingyun stopped talking. He saw Gu Shenyuan leaning closer, as if to kiss him.

But Gu Shenyuan didn’t kiss him in the end, only looked at him.

“I’m not forcing myself,” Gu Shenyuan’s dark eyes reflected only Ye Qingyun’s image. “As long as you are happy, I can do anything.”
