Chapter Index

Gu Shenyuan clenched the Antidote in his hand. The cold glass bottle pressed against his palm, and the chill seeped in, as if draining all the warmth from his body.

“Gu Shenyuan? Are you… are you unhappy?” Ye Qingyun looked at Gu Shenyuan’s terrifyingly dark expression and asked cautiously, “Didn’t you want this?”

No way, did he really misunderstand? But based on his deductions, the reason Gu Shenyuan sought him out should have been to ask him to make the Antidote, right?

Gu Shenyuan lowered his eyes, slowly took a deep breath, and handed the Antidote back to Ye Qingyun. “I don’t want it. Take it back.”

Ye Qingyun urgently asked, “You don’t want it? Why? It would be so good to drink it. Once you drink it, you can break free from those messy restraints and do whatever you want.”

Gu Shenyuan silently watched Ye Qingyun. Ye Qingyun’s light amber eyes showed undisguised concern; he seemed genuinely anxious for him.

Even Gu Shenyuan couldn’t find any flaw in Ye Qingyun’s current demeanor, couldn’t see that Ye Qingyun wanted to leave him.

Well, it wasn’t contradictory. Ye Qingyun was a good person, so even if he wanted to leave, he made the Antidote for him instead of just walking away.

Gu Shenyuan gave a mocking smile.

But he didn’t need the Antidote. Trading a Bloodline restraint for Ye Qingyun staying by his side was the most profitable deal he had ever made, and he wouldn’t change it.

Ye Qingyun continued to tirelessly list the benefits of drinking the Antidote, trying to persuade Gu Shenyuan: “Think about it, right now, whatever I want you to do, you have to do it. How little freedom and self-respect you have! What if I told you to commit suicide? Would you really do it?”

Gu Shenyuan didn’t speak. He looked back at Ye Qingyun, his gaze gloomy and deep. Although he didn’t utter a single word, he clearly conveyed one thing to Ye Qingyun.

If Ye Qingyun wanted his life, he would absolutely not resist.

Ye Qingyun choked up. He was both touched and slightly angry at Gu Shenyuan’s willingness to disregard his own life for him. He turned his face away and huffed, “Hmph, that’s great then. Once you’re dead, I’ll go find other men to heal my emotional wounds, and I won’t have you controlling me. It’ll be easy and pleasant.”

As soon as Ye Qingyun finished speaking, he saw Gu Shenyuan step forward, reaching out to press down on his shoulder. His expression grew even darker, and he said coldly, “No.”

“This isn’t allowed, that isn’t allowed. Did you forget your own status? I’m the one controlling you now!” Ye Qingyun pretended to speak fiercely, trying his best to provoke Gu Shenyuan. “Unless your Bloodline restraint is lifted, what right do you have to challenge me?”

Gu Shenyuan still didn’t speak. He just looked at Ye Qingyun, his lips tightly sealed.

After a long pause, Gu Shenyuan finally said, “You won’t tell me to die. As long as I am alive, I won’t let you look for other men.”

    Ye Qingyun: “…”

That was so reasonable and logical that he couldn’t refute it!

Ye Qingyun nearly rolled his eyes in frustration. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

Since a forceful approach wasn’t working, he would try a softer one. Maybe he could move Gu Shenyuan that way?

What might make Gu Shenyuan soften his heart?

Ye Qingyun bit his lip, an idea forming in his mind.

He had originally planned to confess his feelings to Gu Shenyuan after he drank the Antidote.

But now, it seemed better to confess immediately, adopt a conciliatory policy, tell Gu Shenyuan his worries, and persuade him to drink the Antidote. Perhaps the effect would be better.

Ye Qingyun had never confessed to anyone before. This was his first time, like a young bride entering the sedan chair, and he felt a little embarrassed. But he still mustered his courage, removed Gu Shenyuan’s hand from his shoulder, and then took Gu Shenyuan’s hand in his own.

Gu Shenyuan’s hand wasn’t warm; it was cool to the touch. Ye Qingyun gently pleaded, “Shenyuan.”

Gu Shenyuan looked somewhat surprised. Ye Qingyun lowered his head to look at his toes and continued softly, “If you refuse to take it, if you refuse to lift that restraint, not only will you suffer, but I will suffer greatly too.”

Ye Qingyun felt the hand he was holding stiffen for a moment. Gu Shenyuan was silent for a long time before slowly saying, “…Why would you suffer? The pain isn’t on your body.”

    Ye Qingyun: “…”

What kind of clueless man’s response was that?

He had hinted so obviously, and Gu Shenyuan still hadn’t figured it out?

Ye Qingyun gritted his teeth and stated clearly, “Of course I will suffer, because I like you, and I want you to be well.”

As soon as Ye Qingyun said this, he felt Gu Shenyuan’s hand stiffen again.

Ye Qingyun looked up, meeting Gu Shenyuan’s eyes, and said seriously, “Once you drink the Antidote and regain your freedom, how about we try being together?”

The surroundings fell silent. Gu Shenyuan looked at Ye Qingyun. Ye Qingyun’s face held anticipation, a bit of a smile, and a trace of worry. Everything was as beautiful as a dream.

Gu Shenyuan slowly squeezed Ye Qingyun’s hand in return.

It felt wonderful. This was how he felt when Ye Qingyun looked at him with this kind of gaze.

It was as if his whole body was immersed in a hot spring, every cell joyful, making him want to stay in that gaze forever, wanting to fulfill every request made by the owner of that gaze.

It was truly wonderful. If only all of this were real.

Gu Shenyuan closed his eyes. After a long period of silence, he opened them again.

“Alright,” Gu Shenyuan replied. “Let’s go back to the bedroom. I’ll drink it there, okay?”

Ye Qingyun was stunned, then immediately overjoyed when he realized what was happening. “You finally came around! You can drink it anywhere, as long as you’re willing to drink it.”

Gu Shenyuan smiled faintly and led Ye Qingyun toward the bedroom.

Ye Qingyun’s excited mind began to cool down slightly, and he started thinking about why Gu Shenyuan wanted to return to the bedroom.

Why drink it in the bedroom? There was nothing else in the bedroom; the most common item was a bed. Wouldn’t that mean that right after drinking it…

Was the pace that fast? Were they going straight to passion? But he wasn’t ready yet!

Ye Qingyun was still quite conventional in this regard. The process he had envisioned was: confession, then holding hands, sharing their emotional journeys. After spending some time together, they would progress to hugs and kisses, and then finally, passion. He felt this was more normal and gave him time to prepare mentally.

He had assumed Gu Shenyuan would be the same type. He hadn’t expected Gu Shenyuan to be so direct.

Well, direct was direct. He wasn’t some inflexible old fogey; he knew about marrying first and falling in love later. Moreover, he and Gu Shenyuan had already confessed their feelings. Moving on to certain types of interaction was within reason.

Ye Qingyun followed Gu Shenyuan to the bedroom. Ye Qingyun entered the room first, with Gu Shenyuan behind him. Once both were inside, Gu Shenyuan closed the door behind him.

With a soft click, the door was completely locked.

Ye Qingyun turned to look at the door, confused. “Why did you lock the door?”

“Nothing. Come sit down.” Gu Shenyuan pointed to the bed.

Ye Qingyun’s face flushed. He angrily tugged at Gu Shenyuan’s sleeve, embarrassed and annoyed. “Aha! I never would have guessed you were this kind of person! So impatient! Where is your aloof image?”

Gu Shenyuan smiled without offering much explanation. He put his arm around Ye Qingyun’s shoulder, led him to the bedside, and had Ye Qingyun sit down.

Ye Qingyun still held onto Gu Shenyuan’s sleeve, reminding him, “I did what you asked. It’s time for you to fulfill your promise, right?”

Gu Shenyuan didn’t speak. In that instant, Ye Qingyun felt Gu Shenyuan’s gaze become somewhat terrifying for some reason.

“…Gu Shenyuan?” Ye Qingyun sensed that something was wrong.

A layer of black mist that he was familiar with appeared in the air, quickly condensing into rope-like strands. One end tied itself around his wrist, and the other end was secured to the headboard.

    Ye Qingyun: “…???”

What was going on! Weren’t he and Gu Shenyuan mutually in love and about to get started? Why the sudden 360-degree shift in atmosphere!

Ye Qingyun sharply looked up at Gu Shenyuan. Gu Shenyuan’s face was pale, but his eyes were gentle, clearly satisfied with the scene before him.

“Are you crazy?” Ye Qingyun was shocked. “Are you trying to be kinky?”

“If you were willing, of course I’d want to do anything with you, but unfortunately…” Gu Shenyuan looked at him and sighed very softly. “To leave, you are even willing to tell a lie like loving me.”

    Ye Qingyun: “…???”

“You are insane!” Ye Qingyun tried to tear off the black rope on his wrist, while angrily telling Gu Shenyuan, “I was seriously confessing to you! Is this how you treat me!”

Gu Shenyuan remained silent, crouching down to gently rub Ye Qingyun’s bound wrist.

Of course, he desperately wanted to believe him, but he didn’t dare gamble. If there was even a one percent chance that it was fake, that Ye Qingyun was deceiving him with the goal of making him drink the Antidote and then leaving, then he couldn’t let down his guard.

Ye Qingyun didn’t want to waste any more words. He knew it would be difficult to persuade Gu Shenyuan now, so he went straight for the killer move, adopting a serious expression and commanding Gu Shenyuan, “I command you now: release me and drink the Antidote I gave you!”

This was the first time Ye Qingyun had spoken to Gu Shenyuan with such an attitude and tone. He didn’t know if the Bloodline restraint would truly take effect.

According to his investigation, Gu Shenyuan should be compelled to obey him, or else suffer extreme pain.

Sure enough. Gu Shenyuan’s complexion visibly worsened. But he did not release Ye Qingyun.

“It is the punishment I deserve for not giving your confession the treatment it deserved and for making you sad,” Gu Shenyuan said. “But the Antidote…”

Ye Qingyun watched as Gu Shenyuan picked up the Antidote he had been holding and removed the stopper.

Was Gu Shenyuan willing to drink it? If so, his goal would be achieved.

Immediately afterward, Ye Qingyun watched Gu Shenyuan tilt the bottle of Antidote. The liquid inside slid out, pouring entirely onto the floor. It was then covered by Gu Shenyuan’s Ability, and in just one second, all the Antidote on the ground evaporated without a trace.

“I don’t need the Antidote.” Gu Shenyuan looked even paler due to the discomfort, but when he looked at Ye Qingyun, his eyes showed no dissatisfaction from the pain, only overwhelming possessiveness and affection. “The other side of this restraint is you… Whether it is pleasure, pain, or even death that you grant me, I will gladly accept it.”
