    Chapter 7

The crisp, loud slap jolted He Yu out of his unrealistic fantasies. He lifted his deep eyes and stared at Lian Xu with a look of resentment.

Lian Xu tilted his head and mocked, “Idiot.”

Hearing this, He Yu grabbed Lian Xu’s neck. “You rude little beast!”

Little beast? What a fresh description.

    Lian Xu thought.

Although he was angry—the description was truly nasty—if he thought about it carefully, turning on someone and using an Alpha’s pheromones only to slap them afterward was indeed a low move. Calling him a little beast was understandable. Yet, even so, Lian Xu couldn’t let it go. He didn’t want to hear He Yu say that about him.

Who was he to say such a thing?

Even if he had deliberately provoked him, He Yu shouldn’t have been so disrespectful, bordering on insulting. Besides, He Yu was the one who couldn’t control his peacock display first. If he was so fond of making promises to Omegas, why did he come looking for him?

The more Lian Xu thought about it, the more aggrieved he felt.

    He Yu was utterly heartless.

He looked up, rolled his eyes at He Yu, and clamped down on the Alpha’s wrist. His fingertips dug into the flesh, unconsciously increasing the pressure. Moments later, a bloody arm abruptly entered the Omega’s line of sight.

Lian Xu snapped back to reality, instantly letting go, and turned his face away, afraid to look at the Alpha’s sullen expression.

He Yu didn’t know what new fit of pique the Omega was having; it was baffling. Gritting his back teeth, he reluctantly picked up the clothes and helped Lian Xu put them on, even meticulously buttoning every single button up to the very last one.

“Can’t you tell the clothes are wet?” Lian Xu said sarcastically. “If you have nothing to do, get lost. Don’t you need to train this afternoon? Being late for training as an instructor, you truly are a fine role model for the cadets.”

He deliberately emphasized the words ‘cadets’.

But He Yu didn’t detect anything unusual in the tone. After all, since his first encounter with Lian Xu, the Omega had always spoken in this sarcastic manner, and his temper was always unpredictable. When he was happy, he could personally feed you sweet treats until your throat ached from the sweetness. His anger, however, came out of nowhere; one second he was smiling and seducing him, the next he was stone-faced and slapping him.

It made him feel both love and hatred.

He Yu wished he could rip off the clothes he had just put on, tear them to shreds, and press the person down onto the cold floor to ravage him.

Since the clothes were wet, it didn’t matter if he wore them or not. Besides, didn’t he like being naked? He must surely enjoy it.

Images of depraved acts flashed repeatedly in He Yu’s mind. He stared intently at the Omega’s profile, his eyes unblinking. The blood flowing from his wrist dripped onto the snowy white neck, blooming like plum blossoms.

He raised his wrist, aiming it at Lian Xu’s slightly protruding Adam’s apple. The drops of blood slid down with the subtle movements of the throat. A disobedient Omega needed to be taught a lesson; a blood-red brand on that white neck would make it even more beautiful.

Lian Xu felt the blood drop on his throat, which tickled. He instinctively tried to wipe it away.

But He Yu pressed his body against the wall, pinning him, his hands trapped between his legs, unable to move.

“If I don’t go, someone else will lead their training. But can you stay conscious without me?” He Yu asked with a smile. “Or do you just enjoy stripping naked and releasing your decadent cedar scent to seduce an Alpha who doesn’t even like you?”

Lian Xu looked back, a hint of disdain in his eyes. “What makes you think he doesn’t like me?”

“I am his fiancée. We are going to walk down the aisle and become lifelong partners. Why would you think Yin Zhuo would accept marking someone he doesn’t love and then becoming partners?”

    He Yu froze.

The Yin Zhuo he knew certainly wouldn’t do such a thing.

Yin Zhuo was a Five-Star General and, as the Prime Minister of the Inner Cabinet, his status on the Imperial Planet was self-evident. No one, apart from His Majesty, dared to force him to do something against his will, not even his own parents. Every time he saw Yin Zhuo being affectionate with the Omega beneath him, he was consumed by jealousy.

Yet, his intuition told him that Yin Zhuo didn’t love his Omega.

As for Lian Xu’s feelings for Yin Zhuo, He Yu couldn’t say. But whenever the Omega seduced him behind his fiancé’s back, He Yu always lost control, tacitly allowing the other to lead him by the nose.

He Yu rubbed Lian Xu’s chin. This feeling was irritating.

“You shouldn’t mention your fiancé in front of me, or I swear I’ll lose control and fuck you to death!”

Lian Xu remained expressionless, not taking his words seriously. He said nonchalantly, “In that case, I’d probably kill you first.”

    “You really think I—” *Muffled*

Before he could finish, Lian Xu quickly pulled his hand free and clamped it over He Yu’s mouth. The force was so strong that his arm instantly turned red and throbbed, but that pain was nothing compared to the importance of not being caught by his fiancé using another Alpha to alleviate his heat cycle.

“Shut up and hide if you don’t want to die right now!”

He Yu originally didn’t want to hide. He wanted to see if Lian Xu would still look so arrogant after being discovered by his fiancé having an affair with another Alpha in the room. Would he cry and beg Yin Zhuo for mercy, or would he beg He Yu to speak up for him?

But seeing the Omega’s worried expression, He Yu hesitated.

The door slowly opened, and a dark shadow fell across the room.

He Yu released Lian Xu and shrank into the corner. Lian Xu subtly shifted his position, completely shielding the Alpha behind him.

Yin Zhuo pushed the door open just a crack, saw the Omega huddled under the covers with his eyes lowered, and then quietly closed the door again.

The iron chain bolted across the door rattled, and the room was completely locked.

The chain was undone, and the door hadn’t even been locked, just gently closed. Lian Xu knew Yin Zhuo was only checking that he was safely in the room and hadn’t sneaked out. As for the state of the room or if anyone else was inside, he hadn’t paid any attention.

Yin Zhuo relocked the door and began to doubt himself.

He distinctly remembered locking the door before he left, so why was it open? He Yu wasn’t in the room either; perhaps he had already gone to the training grounds. He wondered if He Yu had discovered the secret inside the room.

While he was pondering, his Optic Computer suddenly flashed. Yin Zhuo answered the call, and the face of his subordinate appeared.

“Prime Minister, your father is waiting for you in your office.”

Father? Why is he here? Yin Zhuo didn’t have time to think. He quickly dressed and rushed to the office. Since his father retired, he had never visited the Star Tower. His sudden appearance today must mean he had something important to convey.

Hearing the sounds outside gradually fade, Lian Xu breathed a sigh of relief.

He Yu, however, wrapped an arm around him maliciously. “So afraid of being caught… You have small guts but dare to seduce me. Do you like the thrill?”

Lian Xu ignored his words, focusing on the phone call. What could the old man want with Yin Zhuo, and in the office, no less?

How afraid was he of being overheard?

He Yu noticed Lian Xu was distracted and pulled his face around to look at him, displeased. “The door is locked, I can’t get out. The cadets can’t start their training normally. Shouldn’t you take primary responsibility?”

    Lian Xu: “…”

“You chose to come in and got locked in. How is that my fault? Besides, you just said that if you weren’t here, someone else would take over the training. What, Instructor He, did you forget your own words? Or were you just messing with me earlier?”

He Yu narrowed his eyes. “No. I just think this is great. I can enjoy my dessert after dinner without worry.”

“Get out!” Lian Xu didn’t hesitate to pinch He Yu’s leg hard.

His speed was so quick that He Yu didn’t react and took the hit, letting out a pained hiss.

He muttered inwardly: Such petty tricks!

“The door is locked, I can’t get out,” He Yu said carelessly, showing no concern about being late for training. He was as delighted as if he had won a battle.

Lian Xu vaguely guessed what He Yu was thinking, but he didn’t give him the chance to escalate. He shrugged, looking at the Alpha with the contempt one reserves for trash. “Get away from me. Once the door is open, hurry up and leave!”

Then, he reached into the covers and pulled out a thin piece of wire from somewhere. Under the Alpha’s surprised gaze, he folded the wire in half, twisted it into a braid, and bent up the two ends.

Lian Xu knelt by the door, inserted the wire into the lock cylinder, twisted it, and the room door opened from the inside. However, the iron chain was still fastened outside, leaving a gap too small for even an Alpha’s arm to fit through.

The Omega, utilizing his gender advantage, slipped his slender arm through the gap. Some Omegas are born with a small physique, and no amount of training can change this powerful genetic trait.

Lian Xu was one of those Omegas.

His uniqueness wasn’t just in his physique.

After unlocking the chain, Lian Xu urged He Yu to leave quickly.

He Yu’s eyes were full of confusion, as if he wanted to ask, “You can open the door yourself, so why didn’t you leave? Who are you trying to look pitiful for?”

Oh, for his fiancé, Yin Zhuo.

Thinking of this, He Yu’s mood, which had just improved, darkened again.

Lian Xu saw his expression but offered no explanation. He didn’t want to get tangled up further with an Alpha whose head was full of useless thoughts and couldn’t even control his pheromones.

Just as he stepped outside the door, He Yu suddenly turned, grabbed Lian Xu’s arm, and pressed him. “Yin Zhuo can’t smell pheromones?”

The pheromones in this room were so thick they could make an Omega go into heat anywhere and make an Alpha lose control and fall into uncontrollable lust. Not to mention the white camellia scent was aggressively wrapping around the cedar, brazenly declaring dominance.

If Yin Zhuo could smell pheromones, how could he remain so calm after opening the door?

Unless he had prepared in advance and taken a powerful inhibitor.

But even that would only help him maintain his composure; it wouldn’t make him completely unable to smell such a strong white camellia scent. Finding his imprisoned fiancée’s room mixed with the pheromones of another Alpha—no one would be able to leave as if nothing happened.

Lian Xu looked at He Yu, surprised he would ask that question. Two people who grew up together, yet He Yu had to learn this detail from someone else’s mouth.

“Do you think everyone is a bloodhound like you, able to smell everything?” Lian Xu snapped. “He is the Prime Minister; he must maintain basic rationality. I’m in heat, so of course he has to take a powerful inhibitor. For an Alpha with a less sensitive sense of smell like him, the side effects of a powerful inhibitor are even more pronounced.”

“Did you learn your basic biology from a dog?” After explaining why Yin Zhuo couldn’t smell the pheromones, Lian Xu didn’t forget to mock He Yu.

He Yu was irritated by him and didn’t want to stay any longer. He turned and walked away.

As he left, he grumbled, “Ungrateful! I must be fucking sick to travel all this way just to comfort a promiscuous Omega like you!”

    Damn it!

He knew the other person had a fiancé, that they were affectionate, and were about to get married. He was truly a masochist to fall for it time and time again.

Lian Xu watched He Yu’s retreating figure disappear from view, quickly fastened the chain, locked the door, and restored everything to how it was when Yin Zhuo left. Then, exhausted, he slid down the wall to sit on the floor.

His body was unique; it required a large amount of pheromones to be continuously infused until the entire heat cycle passed.

Otherwise, he would become like this—once the comfort was gone, he immediately turned into a beast without reason or consciousness, rolling around and destroying everything in the room that could be destroyed, using the destruction to replace pheromones and soothe his restless body.

Yin Zhuo locking him up was not without reason.

But more than that, Yin Zhuo didn’t want Lian Xu to affect him. It was the third day the Omega had been locked up. Without pheromone comfort, his hormones were nearly ten times higher than normal. Lian Xu’s scent gland was burning, his body was hot. He craved pheromone comfort, roaring like a beast, destroying the room. The walls and door were covered with deep scratches he had dug with his fingertips.

After the heat cycle ended, Yin Zhuo let him out. In the light, he saw the wreckage of the room. Since then, Yin Zhuo had redecorated the room, throwing away everything that could be destroyed and replacing the door with a sturdier one. But the walls couldn’t be replaced; if one looked closely, they could see the scratch marks covering them.

He felt justified in keeping Lian Xu locked up because of this.

In the dark room, the last trace of white camellia was consumed. Lian Xu writhed on the floor in agony, his fingers scratched raw and bloody, wishing he could tear off another layer of skin.

Lian Xu’s throat hurt too much to make a sound, and his eyes were clouded with tears.

He hadn’t been like this before.

When he first differentiated into an Omega, he was also in a cold, dark room like this, with only a small window connecting him to the outside world. Lian Xu would lie by the window every day, hoping the person opposite would talk to him so he wouldn’t feel lonely.

Then one day, his body became hot, and he writhed on the floor in discomfort, Omega pheromones filling the room.

The first time Lian Xu smelled that special clear fragrance, it was the person opposite the room who later told him it was cedar. At that time, he was only uncomfortable, not frantic.

But there was an uncle who, during every one of his heat cycles, would extract a portion of pheromones from his scent gland, claiming it was to create a soothing inhibitor. Before the inhibitor was ready, he had to take medication.

He took the medication for over a year, but instead of relief, the discomfort worsened. Lian Xu began to lose his mind, becoming frantic and violently destroying things in the room. Then, the medical team would rush in to restrain him, using electric shocks to keep him conscious…

The memories of the past flashed by. Lian Xu couldn’t quite remember how long this condition had lasted.

Lian Xu felt exhausted. His body was getting hotter and hotter. He could no longer tell if it was the heat cycle acting up or a fever causing him to pass out.
