After Being Forcibly Marked By My Fiancé’S Best Friend Chapter 20
byChapter 20
Inside the underground experimental base, muffled, intermittent sounds echoed. Lian Xu frowned, tightly gripping the bedsheet. A thin layer of cold sweat beaded on his forehead, which was connected to dozens of transparent tubes.
In his dream, a dark figure kept pushing him away.
“Get out! This is not where you belong!”
“You just need to be fine and play the role you have now. Stop fantasizing about helping me. I don’t need your pity or charity! I just need you to get out of my sight!”
Fiya gritted her teeth and turned the power up to maximum.
Through thought resonance, she glimpsed the memories buried deep within. Feelings of unease, fear, and timidity surged up, pounding violently against her mind and heart.
Her thoughts gushed outward. The new ideas and memories she intended to instill were washed away, unable to penetrate. She was even affected by the complex, confusing images in Lian Xu’s mind, making her dizzy and nearly causing her to forget her objective.
“Brother…” Fiya bit her lip. A nosebleed dripped down, and the buzzing sound from the machine amplified infinitely in her ears. She struggled to lift her head, clutching her chest, and screamed in agony, “I am your real family!”
“Why won’t you accept me?!”
“I am your family! They are just lunatics using you, don’t you understand?!”
Fiya wept, appearing utterly devastated and in pain.
She couldn’t understand why the human brain, no bigger than a newborn’s fist, could hold such a vast amount of memory, or where those unknown emotions originated.
Why were humans always so complex?
“The man outside is your lover, isn’t he?” Fiya listened to the pounding on the laboratory door and continued to inject her thoughts into Lian Xu. “He doesn’t love you, brother. He is using you, toying with you. He has always had someone he truly cares about in his heart.”
As a human created based on precise data, she possessed thought but lacked emotion. She couldn’t express feelings correctly, but she could observe human emotional changes through data transmission.
The man named He Yu showed weak emotional fluctuations and flat feelings. He claimed to love Lian Xu, but the data showed an emotional peak of zero.
“He doesn’t love you at all,” Fiya said.
Lian Xu’s fingers twitched, seemingly affected by her words.
Fiya’s eyes flashed, and she continued the infusion.
The sturdy iron door rattled violently. A line of officers in blurry, indistinctly colored uniforms stood guard at the door, holding guns.
Each submachine gun was loaded with four powerful tranquilizer darts.
The man referred to as the leader stood in the center, his eyes vacant as he stared at the iron door.
Suddenly, the noise stopped.
Fiya turned to look at the entrance. The laboratory was eerily silent.
With a bang, a bullet pierced her brow. Fiya’s eyes widened in disbelief, fixed on the tightly sealed door.
“What do you think is outside?” He Yu’s cold, sinister voice sounded behind Fiya.
Crash—the door opened.
People who looked exactly like the officers guarding the door, ready to shoot tranquilizers, appeared. The leader also stood in the center, expressionless, facing the people inside the lab.
“It’s your experimental army,” He Yu’s voice sounded again.
He gave a cold laugh, raised his gun, and shot the flashing instrument on Fiya’s head, shattering it.
“No matter what you are, if you dare touch him, I will make you disappear forever.”
How could this be?!
“You were thrown out of the base, how could you…”
He Yu dug his finger in his ear, slightly impatient. “You have your edited message to thank for that.”
“Meet me at the base entrance… He wouldn’t say something so straightforward. Now, I’ve come as promised. Well, are you satisfied?”
Fiya frantically rubbed her face, tearing off the instrument on her head and slamming it onto the floor. The edge of the hole in her brow was blackened, a mark left by the bullet passing through.
She had only intended to use Lian Xu’s Optic Computer to lure this person underground and eliminate him. She hadn’t expected him to not only break in but also track her to the laboratory.
“Hahaha—” Fiya laughed, ripping off the transparent tubes connected to Lian Xu’s head, stabbing them into her palm, clenching her fist, and violently slamming it against her chest until a hole was smashed into her sternum.
With the tube inserted into her heart, she frantically brainwashed the motionless man lying there: “What are you hoping for? He doesn’t love you, no one loves you! No one cares about you except me!”
He Yu snapped his fingers. The army outside suddenly moved. Some engaged in a brawl with the guards inside, while others bypassed the fighting to restrain Fiya.
“Let go of me!” Fiya’s eyes were bloodshot, her face contorted. The humans she created dared to resist her.
He Yu smiled provocatively. “They’re disobedient. What should we do?”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill him?” Fiya squeezed Lian Xu’s heart with her hand. “You love him, don’t you? Are you just going to watch me dig out his heart?”
“Then try it,” He Yu said indifferently.
Fiya was stunned.
She couldn’t read any emotion from this man. The person opposite her was like a cold wall. No human aura, no emotional fluctuation.
“Your data is wrong.”
Fiya looked at He Yu, confused.
White camellia pheromones permeated the entire laboratory. Even if she hadn’t differentiated, she shouldn’t have no reaction at all. The strong scent was no different from inhaling ordinary air to Fiya.
“I am an Alpha who can release pheromones, not a normal human as you perceive. Pheromones can control emotions, so you mistakenly believe I have no feelings.”
“The person who created you clearly didn’t have the concept of pheromones.”
“Is that so?” Fiya said. “Does it matter?”
“He’s about to die. If you care, try to stop me.”
Even while being restrained by several strong youths, Fiya could still calmly provoke He Yu.
He Yu sighed, leaning back casually and crossing his arms. His gaze passed over the instrument behind Fiya, a smile in his eyes.
“Wife, stop playing.”
Fiya froze instantly.
She looked down in disbelief at the man lying on the operating table. His chest was violently torn open, and his reddish heart was beating weakly.
He clearly looked like he was about to die.
But she didn’t know that it wasn’t Lian Xu at all.
Lian Xu held a remote control and walked elegantly out of the brawling crowd. He was still wearing his proper formal attire, perfectly clean and unharmed.
The only noticeable change was the neck covered in ambiguous marks. Red and purple imprints bloomed on his pale neck. The Omega, drenched in pheromones, had a rosy complexion and looked full of energy.
Gazing at the exposed red marks, He Yu licked the corner of his lips, satisfied.
If the timing hadn’t been wrong, he would have completely possessed this Omega already.
Thinking of this, He Yu felt dissatisfied and wanted to raise his gun and shoot a few more holes in Fiya.
He Yu walked over, pressing close to Lian Xu’s shoulder and breathing softly into his ear: “Wife, how was my performance?”
Lian Xu raised his hand and turned He Yu’s face away. His expression was unchanged, and his voice was slightly hoarse: “Half an hour later than I expected.”
“I couldn’t help it.” He Yu spread his hands, looking embarrassed. “My wife rarely takes the initiative. I lingered outside to savor it a bit longer.”
Lian Xu closed his eyes and scolded, “Stop calling me that. Who are you acting for?”
There weren’t many living people here.
“I’m expressing my genuine feelings!” He Yu whispered, shamelessly hugging Lian Xu and rubbing against his face. “If you really were my wife, you would…”
“Get lost!”
Lian Xu couldn’t listen anymore and threw a punch.
The two belated capable assistants arrived at the door just in time to witness He Yu being domestically abused. They retreated repeatedly, unconsciously touching their faces and taking a sharp breath.
Fiya watched the mocking scene before her, twitched her mouth, and mercilessly pulled her hand out of “Lian Xu’s” body.
“How did you do it?”
She had been following Lian Xu closely the entire time, never leaving his side. Not only did this person manage to pull off a ‘golden cicada shedding its shell’ to evade her, but he also created a replica of himself in such a short time.
No wonder her thoughts couldn’t be instilled.
Lian Xu glanced at the instrument nearby. This must be the tool Fiya used to control people’s minds. Manipulating the thoughts of so many people was by no means easy.
Moreover, she had to create a large number of replicas.
“I did it the same way you did.”
“How is that possible?!” Fiya didn’t believe it. “You haven’t even touched it, how could you possibly know how?!”
Lian Xu rubbed his temple and asked her, “Are you talking about that giant machine?”
That machine didn’t require prior contact. Its program was set up to only need a readable, original carrier to be replicated.
The more complete the carrier, the more realistic the replica.
For this, Lian Xu had sacrificed two hundred milliliters of blood.
“I didn’t expect it to be so simple to operate,” Lian Xu said truthfully.
He Yu held Lian Xu’s hand, his fingertip inadvertently brushing against the rough gauze wrapped around his wrist. A complex emotion quickly flashed beneath his lowered eyelashes.
He recalled Lian Xu’s words before leaving the dark room.
“I want to see the machine connected to the test tubes.”
He Yu pressed the back of Lian Xu’s head, panting heavily. “What, are you interested in human modification too? Is your new husband unsatisfactory, and you’re eager to optimize?”
Lian Xu pinched his thigh. “Snap out of it.”
“The people outside are strange; they don’t look human. The problem is likely with that machine.”
“Mmm…” He Yu groaned, supporting the Omega sitting on him. “Together… I’ll be quick.”
“No, we’ll be suspected. You’re still in your rut. If something goes wrong…”
“You’re worried about me!” He Yu interrupted Lian Xu.
Unexpectedly, the other party wasn’t thinking along those lines, but said: “Worried you’ll hold me back.”
A few minutes later, Lian Xu slightly raised his eyes, looking at the faint light spilling from the crack in the door, and said hoarsely, “Get out.”
“Just one more hug.”
“Hand… Get out…” Lian Xu gritted his teeth, trying not to let his ragged breathing show. “Stay here and wait for my signal.”
He Yu obediently listened, waiting for the signal in the room, ready to coordinate with Lian Xu from inside and out. Unexpectedly, he passed out midway and woke up to find himself thrown out of the base.
As luck would have it, he ran into two idiotic robbers who were cowardly and couldn’t even properly pilot their flight vehicle.
They didn’t even notice when he swiped their gun.
However, it was also thanks to these two that he successfully found Lian Xu, who had already escaped.
He Yu’s gaze darkened. His thumb gently pressed the edge of the gauze. “Don’t do that again.”
