Chapter 12 Can You Stop Touching Me

Guān Suī rested his arms on the back of the sofa, encircling Wēn Sòng in his embrace.

    They were extremely close.

If the Alpha lowered his head and moved down just one centimeter, he could capture the lips he had desired for so long.

    But Guān Suī knew.

If he actually kissed him, the response would certainly not be a passionate kiss in return, but a resounding slap.

“What if I said I don’t want to look anywhere else?”

    Wēn Sòng’s breathing hitched.

The Alpha’s Pheromone, despite the suppression band, still leaked out and drilled into his nasal cavity, constantly reminding him that this was the person who had given him countless moments of peak stimulation. Though he had no Gland, he felt a burning sensation on the back of his neck.

    “”

Wēn Sòng noticed Guān Suī tentatively and slowly lowering his head.

He turned his head away, avoiding direct eye contact with the other man.

Guān Suī was not annoyed by the silent rejection. Instead, he calmly leaned toward the Beta’s neck, his nose twitching slightly. He noticed the other man’s body was tense and rigid, his hands pressed against the Alpha’s chest to prevent any gap between them.

    “It’s gone.”

    Wēn Sòng: “Hmm?”

Guān Suī extended a finger and pressed the neck patch with his warm fingertip.

    “The mark is gone.”

    “The Pheromone is gone too.”

Wēn Sòng froze for a second, seemingly not understanding the meaning of Guān Suī’s words.

    He was a Beta.

A mark could not last more than twenty-four hours on him.

In other words, he didn’t have a Gland; what remained on the back of his neck was merely the trace of an Alpha who liked to bite.

The Pheromone would seep into his skin and flesh through the bite mark, thoroughly staining him with the scent of Agave.

But unlike an Omega, the mark and Pheromone residue could not linger for at least a week.

“Isn’t it better that it’s gone?” Wēn Sòng stated calmly.

He knew that their current relationship was no different from “having an affair.”

He had used air freshener to remove all traces of the Alpha’s Pheromone from his body. As for the back of his neck, the neck patch prevented the marked area from being exposed. These past few days, Wēn Sòng had deliberately avoided meeting Zhào Míngzhuó to prevent discovery.

Alphas repel Alphas, and if his condition wasn’t fully recovered, Zhào Míngzhuó could easily detect the mark on his neck.

Guān Suī’s malicious streak slowly seeped out. “No, it’s not.”

    Wēn Sòng couldn’t quite understand.

He was just a Beta without Pheromones.

Even if Guān Suī liked Betas because they were easy to play with, there were thousands upon thousands of Betas in the world. Those willing to play along with him could circle Suicheng several times over. Why would he choose a Beta who was trying to draw a line between them and was clearly being difficult?

“You said you would give me time to consider,” Wēn Sòng said, lowering his eyelids.

Guān Suī gave a loose, drawn-out “Mhm.”

“I am giving you time to consider.”

“But I didn’t say we should pretend not to know each other after getting out of bed.”

    Wēn Sòng: “”

    Such shameless and brazen behavior.

It was indeed accurate to initially categorize this Alpha as “trouble.” Once entangled, there was no stopping it; the ownership of the game was entirely in his hands.

Whether the game continued or ended was up to Guān Suī.

Wēn Sòng initially thought Guān Suī’s cold and indifferent demeanor was because he disliked him. Now, looking back, it was probably the excitement of spotting prey and the fear of alerting it.

Wēn Sòng began to suspect that he had walked into the Alpha’s trap that night.

Otherwise, how could the other man have learned about his grandmother’s situation so quickly afterward?

“Then can you please stop touching me?” Wēn Sòng tried to negotiate with the Alpha.

    He needed some time.

Guān Suī maintained the posture of embracing the Beta, the distance between them still not increasing. He lowered his eyelids, focusing on the rosy lips. If one looked closely, they could see tiny, fine hairs on the skin, which did not detract from his beauty.

    “Right now—”

His tone rose, the final syllable drawn out, before he continued: “I am being very honest.”

“And do you know what it means to push your luck?”

Before Wēn Sòng could speak, the Alpha’s hand moved inch by inch from his shoulder down to his sensitive waist. The loose hold gradually tightened, his thumb and forefinger clasping the narrow waist.

He leaned in close to Wēn Sòng’s ear and articulated clearly: “This is what it means to push your luck.”

His hand felt like it was stroking the fabric of a high-end suit, moving slowly from the waist to the back. Wēn Sòng didn’t dare move, his body rigid. Suddenly, Guān Suī let out a short, muffled chuckle.

“The dimples of Venus on your back are beautiful.”

    “Just too thin.”

“You need to eat more. You’d be more comfortable to hold.”

    Wēn Sòng: “”

The Alpha’s Pheromone completely enveloped him, yet he maintained his calm. “I want to watch the auction.”

“Can you let go of me?”

If he tried to fight back, Guān Suī would surely force the issue.

    It was better to yield.

    To negotiate.

The other man didn’t seem like an Alpha who would act recklessly or seize things by force.

Sure enough, as soon as Wēn Sòng finished speaking, Guān Suī immediately let go and stepped back, creating distance.

    “Of course.”

“Keep watching. I won’t disturb you.”

Guān Suī did indeed stop touching Wēn Sòng or disturbing his viewing of the auction.

    But—

His gaze was fixed on the other man without any attempt to conceal it.

Wēn Sòng slowly adapted from his initial discomfort and began to ignore Guān Suī’s presence.

He would just pretend he wasn’t there.

Although the auction was somewhat dull—watching a group of wealthy capitalists spend huge sums to buy art to cultivate their taste—for Wēn Sòng, it was a simple, relaxing form of entertainment.

He didn’t need to think about anything else; he just focused on the auction.

Occasionally, he could also appreciate the beauty of the artwork.

    “Is there anything you like?”

Guān Suī, who had been sitting in the back row, had moved to Wēn Sòng’s side at some point, asking casually like a friend.

Wēn Sòng shook his head slightly. “No.”

“I’m not interested in these extravagant art pieces.”

    First, he didn’t understand the value of paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, and other items;

Second, he didn’t have enough money to buy them.

However, the next item up for auction made Wēn Sòng look twice.

It was a gradient blue twin fish jade pendant.

The quality, pattern, and design were particularly striking.

One moment he said he wasn’t interested in art, and the next he was contradicted by a jade pendant.

The moment the price was announced, Wēn Sòng felt that some things were indeed expensive for a reason. A jade pendant with no special attributes had a starting bid of 200,000, which proved that the materials and craftsmanship were certainly worth that figure.

“Assistant Jin, bid on this jade pendant.”

    “Price is not an issue.”

At this moment, Guān Suī, sitting next to him, had already called Assistant Jin, who was down in the auction hall.

Wēn Sòng glanced at him out of the corner of his eye before calmly looking away.

In the end, Assistant Jin won the bid for the jade pendant at a price of over three million.

    Rich people.

    They were just that willful.

A simple jade pendant could be bid up to over three million.

Wēn Sòng had no desire for other people’s money; he merely sighed at the overly high quality of life enjoyed by the upper class.

He hadn’t expected Guān Suī’s taste to be somewhat similar to his own, both of them favoring this twin fish jade pendant.

However, the color, design, and exquisite carving of the pendant were indeed beautiful and aligned with popular aesthetics.
