Chapter 10: I’ll Remember to Wear One Next Time

When Guān Suī uttered the three words, “fishing for a wife,” Duàn Zé was stunned for a long while. Once he realized what was being said, he let out several consecutive “Holy sh*t” exclamations, immediately followed by the interrogation: “Who is it? When did you get involved with someone?”

If Duàn Zé had been next to Guān Suī, he would definitely have been jumping up and down while pressing his face right up to the other man.

    It was simply too unbelievable.

The level of shock upon hearing that sentence was comparable to a Young Pioneer riding an elderly woman across the street.

Unfortunately, Guān Suī had no intention of explaining the situation in detail to Duàn Zé. After all, there had been no progress yet; at most, there had been an intimate, boundary-crossing encounter that night. As for feelings, there wasn’t the slightest sign of development.

The fewer people around him who knew, the better.

Guān Suī suddenly recalled the contact name Zhào Míngzhuó had saved for Wēn Sòng.

Just now, he had been talking about “fishing for a wife,” but right now, the person was still someone else’s wife.

After hanging up the phone, Duàn Zé was still curious about the “wife” Guān Suī mentioned and quickly sent a message to follow up.

    Guān Suī ignored him.

As if remembering something, he tapped open Wēn Sòng’s WeChat chat window.

The other party’s profile picture was a sunset over a wheat field, and the username was simple: “Sòng.”

Guān Suī pondered for a moment, typed a message, and sent it.

He waited quietly for a few minutes. When no reply came, he finally turned off his phone and focused on his work.

Wēn Sòng, busy all day, finally wrapped up the project work.

He had been suffering from a sore back these past two days. Since he was a Beta and didn’t secrete Pheromones like an Omega, that night had been too intense. Although the preparation work beforehand was thorough and he cleaned up afterward, frequent activity inevitably led to inflammation.

The items Guān Suī prepared for him, besides Pheromone freshener and neck patches, included anti-inflammatory medicine and contraceptives.

Wēn Sòng naturally used everything the other party provided.

Because he was the only one who would suffer if he didn’t.

There was no need to fight against his own body.

Fortunately, the anti-inflammatory medicine was effective. After applying it twice, he was almost completely recovered, and the pain was gone.

Wēn Sòng picked up his phone to check the time and saw a message notification from “S.”

Seeing this, he clicked in and read the content of the message.

S: Did you use the medicine?

Wēn Sòng originally intended to pretend he hadn’t seen Guān Suī’s message, but in the end, he opened the input panel and replied.

    Sòng: I used everything.

As soon as he sent it, the other side replied instantly.

S: The contraceptives won’t harm your body.

S: I’ll remember to wear one next time.

    Wēn Sòng: “…”

Was there going to be a next time between them?

    Guān Suī was truly shameless.

This time, Wēn Sòng really didn’t want to reply.

It wasn’t that he was being rude; it was simply that he didn’t know what to say appropriately when facing Guān Suī.

No matter what he replied, it felt like he was flirting with the Alpha.

    S: Have you considered it?

Wēn Sòng saw that Guān Suī had sent another message.

He suddenly recalled his conversation with Elder Wēn last night. The Elder had said that his grandmother’s condition was gradually worsening. A professional team had been hired for further examination, but because she had some minor health issues, she needed rest before surgery could be performed.

Sòng: Give me a little more time.

Wēn Sòng turned off his phone immediately after sending the message.

He couldn’t manage juggling both Zhào Míngzhuó and Guān Suī alone.

    But Grandmother—

Wēn Sòng needed to think carefully again.

Just then, the phone resting on the desk chimed again.

He picked it up, unlocked it, and clicked in.

He found that he had received another Anonymous MMS.

This one was similar to the last, featuring Zhào Míngzhuó and an unfamiliar Omega. The two were in an intimate position by a swimming pool, the Omega leaning half her body against Zhào Míngzhuó, whose hand was touching her butt.

    The scale was quite large.

Wēn Sòng didn’t know who was sending him these messages.

He had a guess: perhaps it was an Omega who admired Zhào Míngzhuó and wanted to drive him away and take his place, which was why they were so frequently providing evidence of Zhào Míngzhuó’s infidelity, attempting to provoke his anger.

    Unfortunately,

Wēn Sòng deleted the MMS once again.

The auction was jointly organized by several well-known companies. Guests needed an invitation to enter the venue.

Wēn Sòng had attended similar events, but this one was noticeably more grand, serious, and appeared more formal.

Wēn Xǔ, standing beside him, knew many people in the circle. Along the way, he greeted acquaintances politely and warmly. Wearing a white suit, he looked like a noble prince, a very proud and confident Omega.

    Only Wēn Sòng remained silent.

“Why are you acting like a mute?” Wēn Xǔ glanced at Wēn Sòng, who hadn’t spoken a word the entire way.

“Grandpa brought you here to see the world and network with the influential people in the circle. If you don’t say anything, how am I supposed to explain when he asks? Are you trying to use this opportunity to drag me down and harm me?”

    Wēn Sòng: “…”

“Don’t worry, I will explain to Grandpa myself.”

Wēn Xǔ crossed his arms and sized up the Beta beside him. He seemed about to say something but closed his mouth and continued walking forward. However, he eventually muttered a string of words under his breath.

Wēn Sòng happened to have excellent hearing and distinctly caught what the other person said:

“—How can someone be so stupid? Does he really not want the status of the Wēn family heir?”

Wēn Sòng, who was called stupid: “…”

He actually thought Wēn Xǔ was the stupider one.

Wēn Xǔ clearly disliked and detested him the most, yet the feeling he gave Wēn Sòng was different from the other Wēn family peers.

Wēn Xǔ didn’t play petty tricks; all his emotions were displayed on his face.

The others were not like that.

They frequently cursed him and schemed behind his back, wishing he would die immediately so they wouldn’t have to share the family assets with him.
