Involuntary Symbiosis Chapter 21
byGoing to See Mr. Wang
Yu Luguang’s secretary, Xia Mixun, was reporting to his CEO about the reserved marketing funds and the risk contingency plan sent by Wang Ling. Yu Luguang listened, looking at Xia Mixun. Xia Mixun was extremely good-looking, with distinct masculine brow ridges, strong facial contours, and eyes that were both gentle and bright. His cheekbones weren’t overly prominent, so he didn’t look fierce. Previously, talent scouts had tried to recruit Xia Mixun as a celebrity, and even Fu Yaren had glanced at him. Yu Luguang pursed his lips then, blocking Fu Yaren’s gaze toward Xia Mixun, while politely asking, “CEO Fu, what brings you here?”
Fu Yaren, however, seemed to have noticed something amusing. He replied, “I’m sorry, I’m not interested in omega. I prefer alpha.” Then he looked at Yu Luguang. Xia Mixun’s voice came through: “CEO Fu, do you have any opinions on our cooperation with the Xu Group?”
Fu Yaren ignored the pair and only asked, “When is the Xu Group representative arriving?”
Xia Mixun replied with the time. Seeing that there was still some time left, Fu Yaren simply sat on the sofa, took out his office laptop, and began handling M Nation affairs.
Xia Mixun looked at the data. He handed the laptop to Yu Luguang. His voice sounded close to Yu Luguang’s ear: “Everything looks good. If you’re still worried, I can check the publicly released data from their cooperation with the Zhao family.”
Because they were so close, Yu Luguang clearly smelled the faint tuberose pheromones on Xia Mixun. Due to the heating, he saw a slight blush on Xia Mixun’s face. He leaned closer to Xia Mixun, and the warm sensation was mixed with the scent of rice pine pheromones. Xia Mixun froze, looking at Yu Luguang. The latter realized what he had done and lowered his gaze. Xia Mixun also withdrew his eyes. The two remained silent until the pheromone alert sound on the laptop brought some life back into the air.
Xia Mixun’s face was flushed, but he maintained his composure and said to Yu Luguang, “Secretary Wang has sent new data.”
“Oh, alright…” Yu Luguang responded, telling Xia Mixun, “You go look at it first. We’ll make a decision later.”
“Mhm.” Xia Mixun took the laptop and left.
At the same time, Shuhua was driving. She had heavy dark circles under her eyes. She was already busy, and having finally completed the bulk of her work, she had been looking forward to an easier time and sleeping in.
Now, Fu Yaren was acting crazy again, insisting on going to Wang Ling’s place, making it impossible for her to arrange a driver. She couldn’t very well ask a driver to come late at night to chauffeur a lunatic. Furthermore, if Fu Yaren suddenly went mad and did something else to Mr. Wang, it would be even more troublesome if she wasn’t there.
Perhaps Fu Yaren had a moment of conscience; he had recently increased her salary to 300,000 USD. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be driving this lunatic.
Fu Yaren watched the speed at which the lights flashed past the window and asked, “Why so slow?” Although his tone was flat, Shuhua could hear his dissatisfaction with her driving speed. Shuhua felt helpless: “CEO, it’s nighttime. Z Nation regulations state that, apart from emergency lanes, speed limits on other roads are stricter than during the day.”
Fu Yaren didn’t speak again, just glancing at the time. Although Shuhua wasn’t thrilled about working overtime at night to drive her boss, she thought that if her boss and Mr. Wang could reconcile, she might have an easier time. Seeing that Fu Yaren seemed relatively approachable right now, she spoke up: “CEO, how should you approach Mr. Wang?”
Fu Yaren actually didn’t know why he was going to see Wang Ling. During negotiations, Wang Ling had maintained a distant demeanor, and the scent of absinthe on him had long been mostly eliminated by the other party. Meanwhile, the undisguised scent of green tangerine covering Fu Yaren made him seem somewhat ridiculous.
Shuhua noticed that Fu Yaren was actually thinking, unlike before when he would immediately tell her coldly, “Are you trying to teach me how to do my job?”
Seeing Fu Yaren in thought, Shuhua seized the opportunity to say, “Actually, Mr. Wang prefers a gentle mode of interaction. CEO, you might want to consider that when you meet him.” She looked at Fu Yaren through the rearview mirror and was stunned to find that he didn’t contradict her. This was unbelievable.
She was somewhat surprised. She had been sleepy, but this scene instantly woke her up. Her heart was pounding fast as she excitedly watched Fu Yaren’s expression.
Fu Yaren turned his head and looked at her. Shuhua instinctively shrank her neck and looked forward, but Fu Yaren didn’t pursue it. He asked, “What about my recent physical condition?”
Shuhua heard him. They were almost there, and he was only asking now. Based on her understanding of Fu Yaren, she couldn’t help but smile, saying, “CEO, your recent metrics are all excellent. The doctor suggests you should increase contact with your partner. However, if your partner is highly dependent on you, it would be even more beneficial for your gland.”
Fu Yaren listened, looking at the night scenery outside the window, his face devoid of emotion. He replied, “Okay, I understand.”
Shuhua smiled with relief, but she didn’t dare laugh out loud in front of Fu Yaren, or he would deduct her pay again.
