Involuntary Symbiosis Chapter 7
by“Please, help him.”
Ira reported the progress of the departments below and pointed out the location chosen for the new production line: “The local government improved the transportation system last year, and this plot of land is close to a transportation hub. However, the location is remote, making the land relatively cheap.” Nan Ningyue listened to Ira’s reasoning and nodded in agreement. The fundamentals of the location were quite good. A large portion of the local labor force was exported to the Yangtze River Delta Region, making labor relatively inexpensive. Xu Tongxiao was returning from his business trip today, so Nan Ningyue could hold a meeting to discuss this matter later.
Since Ira arrived, Wang Ling’s workload had been cut in half. He was initially unaccustomed to it, but after getting used to this new mode of operation, he found that his complexion was much better than before.
Ira’s Pheromones smelled of cogongrass, a very peaceful and sweet scent with a hint of spiciness, which might be the scent of Ira’s partner’s Pheromones. It was very friendly to the noses of others who could smell Pheromones, especially Wang Ling.
Since he was Marked, he had become highly sensitive to other people’s Pheromones. Even slightly strong scents were difficult to bear. He went to the hospital, and Director Hu told him that this was due to the lack of soothing Enigma Pheromones, which had lowered his resistance to other Pheromones.
He was clearly a high-level Alpha, usually highly tolerant of other Pheromones, but now he could only rely on his mental fortitude to endure the scents of other Pheromones.
However, most people usually kept their Pheromones well contained, and he could selectively avoid places with mixed Pheromones. This was his only option, but tasks that required interfacing with other secretaries were difficult to avoid. He would inevitably smell their Pheromones from time to time, and Ira’s Pheromones were just right.
Everything was developing for the better.
Wang Ling handed Nan Ningyue some important documents regarding cooperation with the local government for the expansion of the production line. Nan Ningyue flipped through the data and information Wang Ling had compiled, nodded, and said to Wang Ling, “We’ll discuss this further in the meeting later.”
Wang Ling acknowledged this. Looking at Nan Ningyue, he still maintained a stern, serious expression, but he tried to force a smile and said, “Thank you, President Nan.”
Nan Ningyue paused, realizing what Wang Ling was referring to. She didn’t say much, only replying, “Go back. Ira’s work quality is excellent. Of course, you’ve also done very well.”
Upon hearing this, Wang Ling’s heart thumped. Although his expression remained indifferent, a slight hint of embarrassment was hidden in his eyes. Finally, he picked up the documents and put them away.
Wang Ling’s life had returned to peace. Director Hu looked at his report and emphasized, “Using suppressants constantly is not a solution, Mr. Wang. You should know this better than I do. I understand your difficulties, but I hope you can find your Enigma and be with him properly.”
“Doctor, that is asking too much,” Wang Ling said.
Director Hu also found the situation difficult. Without the long-term soothing effect of Enigma Pheromones, Mr. Wang’s physical condition would only worsen. Moreover, his heat cycles would become increasingly difficult to control. However, the relationship between Mr. Wang and his Enigma was unique, so she could only prescribe some relatively mild medication to Wang Ling.
Wang Ling felt a dull ache and throbbing in his gland area. He thought that his heat cycle might be approaching again. He realized it had been two months since his last heat. Since he hadn’t had much work recently, and with Ira and Xiaohui around, he wasn’t too worried. Therefore, he applied for an extended leave to spend his heat cycle at home.
Wang Ling prepared some ice for himself and put it in the freezer to use for cooling down later. After preparing everything, he injected a suppressant and lay on the sofa, waiting. He stared at the ceiling; everything seemed to have stopped, without a sound. He closed his eyes. The scent of absinthe from the Marking left in his body by that person kept tugging at his nose, but what did it matter? He was no longer a high-level Alpha, but merely an Omega exclusive to an Enigma. He had only preserved his dignity.
At the same time, the phone on the table rang. He got up to retrieve it and saw it was an unfamiliar number. He hesitated, assuming it was a sales call. He hung up, but the number persistently called several times, anxiously urging him to answer. Feeling helpless, he picked up the phone and asked, “Hello?”
“Is this Mr. Wang?” a woman’s voice came through, her tone anxious. He could clearly hear her tears of distress due to her urgency: “I beg you, can you please help President Fu?”
