Chapter 15: Green Tea for Five Million.

An Shi’s face was burning. He instinctively wanted to hit back, but seeing An Yu’s eyes red-rimmed and icy, he suddenly recalled their last meeting.

Last time, An Yu had beaten him wildly, and several people couldn’t pull him off.

Estimating that he couldn’t win, An Shi quickly fled behind Father An.

Mother An stood up: “An Yu, are you crazy?!”

    Father An’s face was dark.

An Yu, who was waiting for An Shi to retaliate so he could violently suppress him, thought: “…”

Fine, if physical force won’t work, verbal tactics will have to suffice.

An Yu glared at An Shi: “I married into the Xing Family for you, living in fear every day, and you still speak in that sarcastic way… Forget that. When I’m not here, how can you fail to even take good care of Mom and Dad…”

An Yu then looked at Mother An, wiping away tears with a wronged expression: “If it weren’t for you all… I must be crazy! I quit! An Shi is so good, let him go live in the Xing Family and see how he likes it. I’m going to tell Xing Zhan right now, lay everything out, and end this once and for all!”

As he spoke, he charged toward the door like a little calf.

Father An’s vision instantly went dark.

Xing Zhan didn’t even want to give the betrothal gifts just because they switched the person marrying him. If he found out the switch was premeditated and agreed upon by them, he would surely bankrupt the An Family.

    Mother An also panicked.

    An Shi subconsciously followed.

A few minutes later, An Yu was sitting, surrounded by apologies, and reluctantly accepted the apologies from Mother An and An Shi.

An Shi was still a bit unwilling, trying to save face in a low voice: “I didn’t mean anything by it, I just saw you were dressed well and thought Xing Zhan must be treating you nicely.”

An Yu tugged at the hem of his clothes: “You mean this?”

He raised a hand, and An Shi retreated in terror.

An Yu snapped: “Don’t you think the clothes are a bit big? These were prepared by the Xing Family for you. There’s a huge walk-in closet, clothes, shoes, accessories… everything, all in your size. When I married in, none of it was changed. The clothes are fine, but the shoes don’t fit well…”

An Shi thought: Could it be that Xing Zhan has always been thinking of him, which is why…

An Pinghai, afraid that An Shi would provoke An Yu again, scolded him: “You’re a grown man, yet you’re completely senseless!”

An Shi’s face, which was still stinging and numb, flushed again, and he retreated, feeling aggrieved.

An Yu was fierce toward An Shi, but extremely obedient when facing Father An.

He mentioned some trivial daily routines of the Xing Family, then complained: “They use the best of everything in their house, and the money you gave me is simply not enough to spend.”

In the past, the Original Host always said these fragmented things to Mother An.

A willing buyer is not a good deal, and since Mother An had just scolded him, An Yu deliberately ignored her.

Mother An, who had never been neglected by An Yu before, felt very uncomfortable.

An Pinghai had always known that although An Yu respected him, he was closer to his wife.

Seeing An Yu favor him, a subtle sense of pride made him say kindly: “Good child, you’ve been wronged. Dad will transfer you some more money. Tell me if it’s not enough. As for Xing Zhan…”

An Yu was touched and looked up with admiration: “If there is any further news, I will definitely tell you.”

An Pinghai immediately transferred two million yuan to An Yu.

Mother An felt a lump in her throat and, not to be outdone, transferred three million yuan to An Yu.

An Yu suppressed a laugh and tearfully reached out to hold Mother An’s hand: “Mom, I’m not mad at you anymore. Actually, I miss you so much…”

Five million yuan was enough to buy a decent sports car. An Shi’s heart was bleeding, but he didn’t dare say anything.

It was only then that they finally sat down to eat.

An Yu went to the restroom. The slap he had given An Shi earlier was so forceful that his hand felt dirty.

Father An signaled An Shi to follow him.

    An Shi didn’t move.

Father An: “Mend your relationship with your brother. If you cause trouble again, I won’t take you to Xing Zong’s invitation.”

An Shi quickly followed, waiting in the small flower room not far from the restroom.

An Yu returned and saw him: “What, do you want another beating? Think carefully before acting foolishly in the future—I am the one married to Xing Zhan.”

    An Shi: “…I know.”

Afraid of being suddenly hit again, especially since An Yu looked thin but had great strength, he added: “Brothers shouldn’t hold grudges overnight. When we fight, Mom and Dad are unhappy too. Let’s discuss things properly in the future, okay?”

He felt a little nostalgic for the old An Yu.

If he had been kinder to An Yu back then, An Yu was emotional, and even if he was the substitute bride, he probably wouldn’t always beat him…

An Yu realized that An Shi could actually speak properly, suggesting he had been spoiled before. He said casually: “It depends on your performance.”

After the two left, Zong Lanfeng walked out from behind the tall green plants in the flower room.

He had been taking a phone call and didn’t want to be disturbed, so he had stepped aside when he heard movement. He hadn’t expected to witness such a good show.

Listening to their conversation, they must be the An Family brothers.

Presumably, the tall, extremely beautiful one was An Yu, the one who stole the marriage.

What a pity for such good looks; he had a vicious heart, not only stealing his brother’s marriage but also using it to bully the other party arrogantly.

He needed to find an opportunity to tell Brother Xing about this.

No matter what, marriage is a lifelong commitment. Sleeping next to a poisonous snake means you will be bitten sooner or later.

An Yu’s visit concluded with a peaceful meal, full of filial piety and fatherly affection.

Father An did not mention the betrothal gifts.

It was all An Shi’s fault for being petty and causing this scene. If he brought up the betrothal gifts again, it might trigger some new grievance from An Yu, and he would have to be placated again.

Forget it, he would deal with it later. Anyway, An Yu was as obedient as a dog.

A few days later, when An Pinghai received notification from Xing Zhan that they should meet, he was extremely excited.

An Shi was also very excited, changing his clothes five or six times.

At the Xing Family residence, Xing Zhan was about to leave.

Seeing An Yu lying flat on the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window again, he paused.

He noticed that An Yu particularly liked sunbathing.

As the morning sun streamed in, An Yu’s cheeks were flushed pink, his limbs loosely spread out. The cat on his chest also had its limbs spread, its fluffy little belly rising and falling.

Truly, the pet takes after its owner.

For a moment, Xing Zhan didn’t really want to go out.

Perhaps the weather was too nice, and since it was the weekend, it truly was a good day for rest.

On the way to meet An Pinghai, Xing Zhan deliberately sat on the side where the sun could shine in, closing his eyes for a short nap.

When he got out of the car, he was in a good mood.

That good mood lasted until he saw An Shi.

Xing Zhan had no particular opinion of An Shi; this was the second time they met, and they weren’t familiar.

However, An Pinghai’s thought process seemed abnormal.

He was originally supposed to marry An Shi, but An Yu was the one who came. Now that the die was cast, a normal family should try to avoid having him and An Shi meet, lest it cause unnecessary gossip and entanglement.

An Pinghai, however, was trying to make An Shi sit next to him, acting no different from a pimp.

Xing Zhan glanced at Wu Yuan.

Wu Yuan immediately politely asked An Shi to sit next to An Pinghai: “Mr. Xing and I need to discuss work. If you sit here, you might be disturbed.”

    An Shi stood up, blushing.

He was a little embarrassed. Seeing that the spot Xing Zhan was sitting in had sunlight streaming in, he reached to pull the curtains.

Xing Zhan said: “No need, I like the sun.”

An Shi quickly said: “Me too, but Little Yu doesn’t like it.”

    Xing Zhan: “Is that so?”

An Shi hadn’t expected Xing Zhan to actually speak to him.

He suppressed his pounding heart and said steadily: “He, ah, has never liked the sun since he was a child. Even his bedroom is always on the shady side…”
