A. Bai Yueguang Said Nothing And Just Cried For The Substitute B. Chapter 21
byFacing Duàn Zé’s sarcastic remarks, Guān Suī ignored him.
Seeing this, Duàn Zé became energized, crossing his arms, seemingly unable to comprehend. “You’re the Crown Prince of the prosperous Zhēngróng Group. What kind of Omega can’t you have? Even if you prefer Betas, why must it be Zhào Míngzhuó’s boyfriend?”
“What kind of spell has Wēn Sòng cast on you?”
“I thought he looked like a pretty well-behaved person. How could he have a boyfriend and still hook up—”
“You’re wrong,” Guān Suī withdrew his gaze and said calmly.
Duàn Zé paused, then replied, “Where am I wrong?”
Guān Suī raised an eyebrow. “It’s not him hooking up with me; I’m the one poaching him.”
Duàn Zé: “…”
So you think you’re pretty awesome, huh?!
Should I give you an award?!
Duàn Zé was truly speechless.
His friend’s attitude was far too candid, showing no guilt whatsoever about seducing someone else’s boyfriend into cheating.
“And you have the nerve to say that out loud?” Duàn Zé felt that Guān Suī was completely beyond saving.
Guān Suī, however, was unconcerned.
“Zhào Míngzhuó doesn’t like Wēn Sòng.”
Duàn Zé shook his index finger. “You’re wrong! Quite the opposite, Zhào Míngzhuó has already fallen for Wēn Sòng!”
Guān Suī narrowed his eyes, looking at him, seemingly waiting for the rest of the story.
“Just now, when you jumped down, Zhào Míngzhuó knew Wēn Sòng was inside, and he jumped down without a second thought.”
“Don’t you know? In this situation, it must be because of love.”
“If he didn’t like him, would someone as concerned with appearances as Zhào Míngzhuó jump down in front of so many people? Look how disheveled he was!”
Guān Suī then said, “Wēn Sòng doesn’t like him.”
Duàn Zé scoffed lightly. “Do you know what it means to offer oneself in return for a favor?”
“Wēn Sòng came to Suicheng isolated and helpless. It was Zhào Míngzhuó who extended a helping hand and rescued him from being harassed at the banquet. If it weren’t for Zhào Míngzhuó’s heavy responsibilities and playful nature, those two would have already achieved a happy ending.”
Every word, every sentence, felt like a sharp blade piercing directly into Guān Suī’s heart.
Duàn Zé genuinely couldn’t bear to watch his good brother fall into this moral entanglement.
Especially since they were all people within the same circle.
Having a reputation for poaching someone is not good.
He thought Guān Suī would retreat when faced with difficulty, but instead, he heard the other man say flatly, “He can offer himself to me, too.”
Duàn Zé: “……….”
Damn it, he’s hopelessly obsessed with Wēn Sòng!
No wonder Guān Suī contacted the expert for Pheromone Cancer Cells; he was planning to use that angle to poach him.
It also explained why he had been investigating Zhào Míngzhuó recently—to gather evidence to make Wēn Sòng give up on him.
Every step he was taking now was aimed toward Wēn Sòng.
“Then what about your years of brotherhood with Zhào Míngzhuó?”
Duàn Zé suddenly didn’t know what to say.
He was definitely biased toward Guān Suī.
But committing such an “immoral” act was truly awkward.
They all grew up in the same circle, constantly running into each other. People were definitely going to gossip.
Guān Suī said without changing his expression, “He didn’t cherish it himself.”
Duàn Zé was instantly speechless.
That was true.
Zhào Míngzhuó couldn’t truly be with Wēn Sòng. Even if genuine feelings had developed over the years, based on his own circumstances, if he really married a Beta, the one laughing the hardest would inevitably be the illegitimate child his father raised outside.
As far as they knew, that illegitimate child was also a tough opponent.
He was thriving in Zhēngróng’s subsidiary company.
Zhào Míngzhuó’s “pretense” over the years was merely to make the other party complacent and drop their guard, hoping to find leverage against the illegitimate child.
Ideally, that illegitimate child would get impatient and make the first move.
“He’s been contacting Shèng Qǐ recently,” Guān Suī said at this point.
Duàn Zé was stunned and asked, “What?”
Guān Suī said, “He’s planning a marriage alliance.”
Duàn Zé didn’t know what to say for a moment and asked curiously, “When did this happen? How come I haven’t heard anything?”
“Has Zhēngróng reached the point where they need a marriage alliance?”
Guān Suī didn’t answer, maintaining an air of mystery.
Duàn Zé blinked. “Did you have a hand in this?”
Guān Suī glanced at Duàn Zé, his tone carrying a hint of imperceptible amusement. “Guess.”
Duàn Zé quickly waved his hand. “I’m too lazy to guess. As long as you’re happy, that’s fine. If the sky falls, Fù Jǐngchuān and I will hold it up for you.”
“At worst—”
“When you sneak over the wall to meet Wēn Sòng privately later, the two of us will stand guard at the gate.”
He thought his teasing would earn him a scolding, but instead, he heard Guān Suī say,
“Thanks.”
Duàn Zé: “………..”
Damn it.
Is this wretched Alpha seriously planning to meet him in secret?!
Wēn Sòng followed Zhào Míngzhuó to the guest room to change clothes.
“Are you uncomfortable anywhere?” Zhào Míngzhuó carefully checked the Beta in front of him for any injuries.
Wēn Sòng shook his head. “No.”
“I just swallowed a few mouthfuls of water, and it irritated my throat and nose a bit.”
“I’m fine now.”
Zhào Míngzhuó immediately relaxed, completely dispelling the worry in his eyes.
“I’ll go have them brew some ginger tea for you to ward off the cold.”
Wēn Sòng was worried about catching a cold, so he nodded. “Okay.”
Before Zhào Míngzhuó left, he seemed to remember something, stopping in his tracks to ask, “Oh, right.”
Wēn Sòng had just opened the wardrobe, intending to choose clothes, and poked his head out, confused. “Hm? What is it?”
Zhào Míngzhuó thought for a moment and then smiled.
“Nothing.”
“I was just wondering if you and Guān Suī know each other.”
Wēn Sòng’s breathing hitched.
His fingers, gripping the wardrobe door, unconsciously curled.
He started wondering if Zhào Míngzhuó had discovered something and was trying to get a clue from him.
The next second, he heard the other man say:
“I thought about it. Aside from the time he drove us back to Silver Lake Mansion, you two usually have no interaction, so you definitely don’t know each other.”
“He must have saved you just now out of kindness.”
“I need to thank him properly next time.”
Wēn Sòng replied with a very soft “Mm.”
After Zhào Míngzhuó left, he was about to close the door when a hand suddenly clamped onto the door frame.
He looked up toward the gap in the door.
He saw Guān Suī, the person Zhào Míngzhuó thought he had no connection with.
The Alpha had changed into more casual clothes, and the fringe on his forehead was slightly damp, not entirely dry.
“Why are you here?” Wēn Sòng asked.
Guān Suī noticed that the Beta in the room was still wearing wet clothes and frowned. “I came to see how you were doing.”
“Don’t you have clothes?”
“Why haven’t you changed yet?”
Wēn Sòng whispered, “I was just about to change, and then you showed up.”
Hearing this, Guān Suī squeezed through the door gap into the room, closing and locking the door behind him.
Wēn Sòng, hearing the sound: “…”
Guān Suī leaned his back against the door and gestured toward the wardrobe, telling the Beta, who had hidden behind the wardrobe door after seeing him enter, “You change.”
Wēn Sòng: “…”
The Alpha had once again redefined shamelessness.
“How can I change with you here?” he asked.
Guān Suī straightened up. “If you can’t change, I can help you.”
Seeing that the Alpha was truly about to move, Wēn Sòng immediately raised his hand, signaling him to stop.
“I’ll change myself.”
“You just stand there and don’t move.”
Guān Suī took a step back, continuing to lean by the door, turning his head away, pretending not to peek.
Wēn Sòng felt strange.
How did he so inexplicably let an Alpha into the room?
It was all his fault for letting his guard down.
He was too casual about letting people in.
Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was deliberately trying to entice the Alpha here.
The main reason, however, was that Guān Suī was too forceful. Even if he wasn’t resorting to forceful seizure or coercion, his attitude was very direct, obvious, and highly aggressive.
Moreover, he had arranged for an expert for his grandmother.
