Chapter 8: The Squeaky Wheel Gets the Grease

Wang Shu lay obediently, holding his sweater up with one hand. Cautiously, he used his other hand to tug at Jiang Xusheng’s cuff.

He felt the man’s expensive platinum cufflink, then moved down slightly, catching a small piece of fabric. He asked curiously, “Sir, did you see the baby?”

    Jiang Xusheng hummed in affirmation.

Wang Shu continued, “What does he look like now?”

Their marriage was too short. Aside from the family doctor checking up on him after the wedding, Wang Shu hadn’t formally gone to the hospital for a prenatal check-up.

Jiang Manor had all the necessary hospital equipment, and the doctor would report the results directly to Mr. Jiang. Aside from feeling the baby grow daily, Wang Shu knew very little about the baby’s condition.

Jiang Xusheng teased, “See for yourself.”

Wang Shu realized Mr. Jiang was still angry with him. He pouted slightly, feeling wronged, but kept pulling on the man’s cuff. “But I can’t see right now…”

After the gel was wiped clean, Wang Shu pulled his clothes down. He sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for Jiang Xusheng to put his shoes on.

Wang Shu tilted his ear, listening to Jiang Xusheng’s movements, following him by looking down, then up, like a small, wronged puppy seeking affection.

As Jiang Xusheng tied his straps, Wang Shu rubbed his cheek against the man’s palm and pressed him. “Will you tell me, please?”

“What does the baby look like now?”

He truly wanted to know, his upturned face as docile as a lamb.

Anyone would soften seeing him like this.

Jiang Xusheng was disarmed by his adorable, pleading manner. He chuckled softly, picked up the newly printed image from the table, and called him, “Puppy, come here.”

Wang Shu reached out, was taken by the hand, and slowly shuffled his feet from the examination bed onto Jiang Xusheng’s lap.

Jiang Xusheng wrapped an arm around his waist, settling him on his thigh, and described the image gently. “It’s a very small image, black and white.”

Wang Shu asked, “Can you see what he looks like?”

“You can’t see his features, but you can see his hands and feet are very thin. He’s just starting to take a human shape.”

“It’s a very tiny, blurry image, but the doctor said he is growing very healthily.”

Wang Shu listened intently, the corners of his mouth curving slightly in happiness.

“What are you smiling about?” Jiang Xusheng brought his nose close to Wang Shu’s face, checking his temperature.

Wang Shu was much more energetic than when he first woke up, his eyes relaxed. “The baby is growing healthily.”

“Mr. Jiang, do you want to touch him?” Wang Shu turned to ask.

Precisely because Wang Shu couldn’t see anything, he didn’t realize that Jiang Xusheng was observing him at close range.

It was clear enough to see the roots of his eyelashes, his delicate, rounded nose, and his lips, which were red and swollen from the recent kiss. The young omega exuded an innate innocence, and Jiang Xusheng’s heart sank slightly with his smile.

While Jiang Xusheng watched, Wang Shu had already taken his hand and placed it on his slightly bulging abdomen.

“It’s gotten bigger,” Jiang Xusheng said.

“Yes, it has,” Wang Shu replied with a bright smile.

The two had rarely seen each other since their marriage, and Jiang Xusheng had certainly never spent time with him like this.

Wang Shu cherished this opportunity. He hoped to gain Mr. Jiang’s affection and hoped he would like the baby too.

“Being a father is hard work.”

Wang Shu shook his head. When he pictured the baby’s current appearance in his mind, he felt a sense of anticipation.

The Illegitimate Son, who had never been welcomed by his family since childhood, would actually possess the dearest family member, longing to give love and, at the same time, longing to be loved.

“Mr. Jiang, I will change my strange habits in the future,” Wang Shu paused, hesitating slightly. “So please don’t be angry with me, okay?”

As he finished speaking, Jiang Xusheng stroked his head.

A puppy could receive a reward after doing something wrong.

“You are allowed to make mistakes, but there will be a punishment,” Jiang Xusheng made his biggest concession, using the specific tone of a businessman, as if negotiating terms across a table with Wang Shu. “If you can accept the punishment, then you will be permitted to make mistakes, including angering me.”

There was a lot of implied meaning in that sentence. It seemed to grant Wang Shu the power to control everything, but it also made him understand that everything required an equal exchange.

The man’s serious demeanor made Wang Shu a little afraid, yet a sense of dependence unconsciously grew in his heart.

It seemed that the ‘lessons’ Jiang Xusheng gave him were the kind of interaction he longed for.

A seemingly bitter candy, once unwrapped and sucked, held a soft, sweet, flowing center.

“Will the punishment be very severe?” Wang Shu asked.

“Perhaps,” Jiang Xusheng said. “It seems you are still unrepentant and planning to make mistakes again. Is Puppy really that naughty?”

    “No, I’m not…”

At that moment, the doctor pushed the door open. It was Ji Feng, leaning lazily against the doorframe. “The medicine is ready.”

Jiang Xusheng picked up the jacket from the bedside and wrapped it around Wang Shu.

Wang Shu thought his question wouldn’t be answered, but as Jiang Xusheng picked him up, he suddenly said, “Naughty boy, we are going home.”

Jiang Xusheng’s voice was very charming, somewhat like the northern wind—cold, yet carrying the scent of home.

I’m not a naughty boy, Wang Shu thought.

He nestled in the man’s arms, his head practically buried, his nose rubbing against Jiang Xusheng’s neck, humming in a muffled voice, “Sir, I’m very obedient…”

“Oh?” Jiang Xusheng chuckled softly. “I haven’t noticed. Lying doesn’t count as being an obedient child in my book.”

    “I’m trying hard to change.”

    “I hope so.”

Jiang Xusheng was tall and maintained a good physique through constant exercise. Carrying Wang Shu with one arm was not difficult for him.

The distance to their home this time was short, less than ten minutes.

Jiang Manor was located in a remote area. As Aunt Wang had said, Jiang Xusheng didn’t return there more than a few times a year, but it was valued for its quietness.

However, this time Jiang Xusheng didn’t take Wang Shu back to the manor but directly to his residence in the city center.

Xieshu Pharmaceutical was located on Dongjin Street, the most expensive area in the city.

Jiang Xusheng usually lived in a single-unit apartment near the company, a five-hundred-square-meter flat. Upon entering, there was a strong scent of flowers.

Wang Shu sat obediently on the sofa, waiting.

Jiang Xusheng said that prenatal check-ups would become more frequent soon, and his Gland condition and eyes also needed observation. Living in the city would be more convenient than the old mansion.

Otherwise, the hour-plus round trip would be too exhausting.

Wang Shu tentatively felt the unfamiliar sofa, listening to Jiang Xusheng’s footsteps and slowly sketching the approximate layout of the apartment in his mind.

The bathwater was ready, but Wang Shu couldn’t wash himself; he couldn’t see anything.

He sat naked in the bathtub, the small bubbles on the water surface popping one by one. Wang Shu hunched his shoulders, curled his knees, and had a waterproof patch stuck to the back of his neck.

“Is it too hot?” Jiang Xusheng pushed the door open and entered.

Wang Shu shook his head. His lips were wet and beautiful, and his hair was already damp.

His body temperature had been high all afternoon, leaving him sticky and hot. He wouldn’t be able to sleep comfortably without a bath.

Wang Shu still felt a little shy.

He wasn’t sure if his body would please Mr. Jiang.

He recalled Shen Xiao saying that Jiang Xusheng had a lover abroad and was likely a promiscuous man.

Jiang Xusheng was twelve years older than him, had more experience, and a broader perspective. Everything about himself was transparent in the man’s eyes; he couldn’t hide even a small lie.

“Mr. Jiang…” Wang Shu clung to the edge of the tub, lifting his head slightly, obediently rinsing himself as bubbles flowed away from the back of his head.

    “Hmm?” Jiang Xusheng responded.

“I can do it myself,” Wang Shu said, embarrassed.

    Jiang Xusheng asked, “Why?”

Just as Wang Shu was hesitating whether to speak, Jiang Xusheng always managed to notice his discomfort immediately, catching the restless little thing.

“I’m still in my heat period…” Wang Shu said shyly.

Ordinary Inhibitors had little effect on him and couldn’t stop the fever. A few days ago, he had shown improvement, and at night, relief would come just by holding clothing scented with Jiang Xusheng’s Pheromone between his legs.

“Let me see.” Jiang Xusheng lifted him out of the bathtub.

“You’ll get your clothes wet,” Wang Shu said.

    Jiang Xusheng replied, “It’s fine.”

The bathroom heating was turned up high, so Wang Shu didn’t feel cold coming out of the water. Before his feet even touched the tiles, he was enveloped in Jiang Xusheng’s embrace.

He sat naked on Jiang Xusheng’s suit pants, his body soft and pliable.

An Omega’s Pheromone concentration is naturally higher during pregnancy. Normally, temporary marking by an Alpha is enough to provide relief.

The Gestational Sac also needs Pheromone nourishment. Without Alpha Pheromones, the Omega’s body releases a large amount of Pheromones at a high concentration to ensure the healthy growth of the sac.

The drawback is that the Omega’s heat period is prolonged, and their body feels weak.

This is the main reason why most Omegas in society find it difficult to go out and work during pregnancy.

The waterproof patch on the back of his neck blocked the Pheromone release, causing Wang Shu’s breathing to quicken within a short time.

Jiang Xusheng wrapped him in a bath towel and opened the ventilation.

Wang Shu’s head rested softly on his shoulder, his nose making small, whimpering sounds like a puppy.

Wang Shu pursed his lips, trying to quietly mask his discomfort. “It’s okay, I… I’ll be fine after I rest a bit.”

“Is that so?” Jiang Xusheng frowned slightly.

“Yes, it’s just… the water was too hot, I’m a little dizzy. I’ll be fine after resting. Mr. Jiang, can you just hold me for a little while?” Wang Shu tentatively rubbed his nose against Jiang Xusheng’s chest. He couldn’t smell anything, but even a slight closeness to his husband felt good.

“I’m sorry, I got your clothes wet. I’ll wash them for you tomorrow.”

Even though he couldn’t smell the Pheromones, his strangely hot body and soft voice didn’t lie.

Wang Shu’s body temperature hadn’t dropped at all.

    He was lying again.

Jiang Xusheng knew he was lying but didn’t expose him. He held his small-framed body, reaching down to stroke him through the bath towel. Wang Shu almost froze, letting out a muffled groan.

The bath towel quickly became damp. Wang Shu’s hair hadn’t been dried yet, and water droplets ran down his fair neck.

Jiang Xusheng’s hand moved rhythmically, making squishing sounds. His fingertips were slightly rough, making Wang Shu tremble intensely.

A small, milky sound escaped Wang Shu’s nose due to the tension in his leg muscles. Jiang Xusheng’s hand suddenly pulled away from beneath him, and the feeling of being filled vanished instantly.

“Mr. Jiang?” He stopped abruptly. Wang Shu looked up blankly in his arms, wanting to cling to him stickily.

“Are you rested? You can get out now that you’ve bathed.” Jiang Xusheng released his hold and placed him back into the bathtub.

“Huh?” Wang Shu was close to climaxing, only to be put back like that. His heart suddenly felt very empty.

He didn’t want to be let go like this. He knew Jiang Xusheng was teasing him again.

Wang Shu grabbed his hand. “Can you not leave? I…”

Jiang Xusheng smiled slightly. “Didn’t you want to wash yourself?”

He hadn’t wanted Jiang Xusheng to see the embarrassing changes in his body, but now he had seen them, and had even touched him moments ago. He hadn’t received any comfort from his husband throughout his entire pregnancy, and he desperately wanted Jiang Xusheng to touch him, even if it was just a pat on the head like a puppy.

“Regretting it?” Jiang Xusheng asked pointedly.

“Mhm…” Wang Shu’s face was flushed red.

“How do you want me to proceed?” Jiang Xusheng leaned down, his cheek close to Wang Shu’s. “I will do exactly what you want. It depends on you.”

“Wang Shu, if you want something, you must learn to open your mouth and ask for it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”
