Chapter 15: Support – I’m Happy to Indulge Him

Yu You racked his brain all morning but couldn’t figure out the answer.

At the dining table, Jiang Xunzhou sat across from him, leisurely sipping his coffee. He had switched to a Vacheron Constantin sapphire watch on his wrist, which flashed with luxurious light whenever he moved his hand.

Beside him, Assistant Wan reported the day’s schedule, his eyes fixed straight ahead.

After finishing breakfast, Jiang Xunzhou stood up. “You stay home and rest. I’m heading to work now.”

Yu You poked his yogurt bowl with a spoon, looking distracted. “Huh? Oh…”

The young man’s hair was sticking up, and his dazed appearance was too endearing. Jiang Xunzhou’s fingers twitched, feeling an urge to ruffle his head, but he casually restrained himself. “Message me if anything happens.”

Yu You didn’t quite understand what that meant.

Assistant Wan adjusted his glasses and politely bid him farewell as well.

    “Assistant Wan, Assistant Wan!”

Taking advantage of the moment Jiang Xunzhou walked away, Yu You quietly called out to him.

Due to his eagerness, the young man leaned forward slightly and quickly asked, “What did Mr. Jiang mean just now? Does he want me to remember to report my work status at any time?”

    “I don’t think so.”

Assistant Wan smiled. “Mr. Jiang has said that exact phrase to Miss Jiang Mingyan as well. I suspect he means the same thing when he tells it to Mr. Yu—if you run into any trouble on set, or if you feel wronged, or encounter a difficult situation, just tell Mr. Jiang, and he will come and back you up.”

Yu You scratched his cheek, feeling a bit strange and unsure how to react.

In his previous life, he had climbed to the top by running around sets on his own, step by step. He had no background, no fame initially, and had roles snatched away and key scenes rewritten, all of which he endured alone.

This was the first time he had ever heard the phrase “back you up.”

However, he was currently publicly known as Jiang Xunzhou’s person. If he were bullied, it would be equivalent to slapping Jiang Xunzhou’s face, so it seemed reasonable for Jiang Xunzhou to stand up for him.

Yu You thought for a moment and cautiously said, “I will try my best not to cause Mr. Jiang any trouble.”

Assistant Wan chuckled. “That’s not what I meant…”

But he didn’t have time to explain, so he simply nodded slightly and left.

Yu You didn’t dwell on it. He rested at home all morning and headed to the set for filming in the afternoon.

When he got out of the car, he saw a large crowd of fans providing support for the Top Tier male lead as he arrived and left work. The fans were orderly, squatting across the road from the set location.

Yu You followed Shi Sanlin, who had come to pick him up, walking inside. Just as he was about to enter, someone suddenly called out to him, and he instinctively looked back.

Across the road, a few scattered young girls were holding a banner. Because they were squeezed to the very edge by the massive fan group, they weren’t very noticeable. They were jumping up and down, trying to catch his attention.

Yu You paused his steps, and their reaction became even more enthusiastic. They waved a homemade blue and gold banner.

[Little Fish Swims Past a Thousand Waves, Shining Brightly Towards the Future]

    Cheers came from afar.

“Little Fish Baby! Good luck with filming!—”

Yu You finally confirmed they were his fans. His eyes curved into a smile, and he raised his hands above his head, forming a heart shape from a distance. “Thank you! I will do my best!”

He walked briskly into the set to get his makeup and costume done. Sitting in front of the vanity mirror, his heart was still slightly restless.

Yu You couldn’t resist messaging Jiang Xunzhou to show off: [I had fans give me support today! They even made me a banner and told me good luck with filming!]

    Jiang Xunzhou: [That happy?]

Yu You: [Of course! Having fans support me means they like me and support me.]

Yu You: [They were very polite, standing far away to cheer me on. They are all good babies.]

Yu You held his phone, the corners of his lips turned up as he typed the final sentence.

[And for me, the fans who like me are the confidence that supports me moving forward.]

Yu You finally understood why he had felt strange when he heard Assistant Wan’s words this morning.

Even if he were wronged and Jiang Xunzhou backed him up, that didn’t mean Jiang Xunzhou was someone he could rely on.

Only his work, and the love and support of his fans, were his eternal foundation of confidence.

“Teacher Yu, please look this way.”

Yu You responded, put down his phone, obediently lifted his face, and cooperated with the makeup artist before heading to the set to film.

Time on set was always tight, with a packed schedule that left almost no time to breathe.

When the logistics team brought in a pile of afternoon tea and the director announced a break, the entire crew let out a collective sigh of relief as if they had been saved.

Yu You and Jiang Mingyan were discussing the script in a corner, holding small fans and gesturing as they talked.

Jiang Mingyan’s assistant, a round-faced girl, came back with milk tea and a super luxurious fruit platter gift box. She smiled and said, “Little Fish, your fans sent the afternoon tea support today!”

Yu You was stunned. He pointed to himself and asked, “My fans?”

The girl nodded enthusiastically and held up the milk tea. “Look, your name is on it. That means your fans sent it.”

The milk tea was from a famous fruit tea brand. A cute, cartoon sticker was affixed to the cup, looking adorably clumsy, with Yu You’s name written underneath in a round, cute font.

“It, it really seems to be?”

    Yu You stammered.

Shi Sanlin also came over happily, carrying milk tea and fruit. He said, “Xiao Yu, come eat some fruit!”

He then instructed, “You’re trying to lose weight, so you can only eat the cherry tomatoes and cucumbers inside.”

Yu You asked, “Brother Shi, is this set support from my fans?”

Shi Sanlin nodded, then shook his head, pulling Yu You a few steps aside.

Yu You was led away in confusion, growing more perplexed.

Shi Sanlin lowered his voice, speaking mysteriously. “This is afternoon tea support sent by Mr. Jiang, under the guise of your fans—Assistant Wan contacted the vendor directly to deliver it to the set entrance. I coordinated with the logistics team. No one here knows it was arranged by Mr. Jiang except for me.”

Yu You was even more confused. “Huh?”

He returned to the Restroom and messaged Jiang Xunzhou: [Why did you send afternoon tea under the name of my fans?]

    Yu You truly didn’t understand.

If Jiang Xunzhou wanted to send afternoon tea to the crew, why didn’t he send it under his own name? Why use his name?

On his way back to the Restroom, he had encountered several staff members who actively thanked him; all the good reputation fell on him.

The person on the other side seemed busy, and there was no reply for a long time, making Yu You absentmindedly pick up his phone to check while eating a cucumber.

    A message notification chimed.

Yu You quickly picked up his phone, swiped the screen open, and Jiang Xunzhou’s reply came into view.

Jiang Xunzhou: [What, can’t I be your fan?]

    Yu You: [Boyfriend fan?]

    Jiang Xunzhou: [Sugar Daddy fan.]

This was the first time Yu You had heard that term. He asked blankly: [What is a Sugar Daddy fan?]

On the chat page, Jiang Xunzhou’s messages popped up one by one.

[Since you said fans are the confidence that supports you moving forward, and you’re very happy when fans support you.]

[I don’t have much else, just a lot of money, so I can be your Sugar Daddy fan.]

[Whatever support you want, whatever resources or brand endorsements, as long as you want it, I can make it happen for you.]

Yu You couldn’t help but curve his eyes, poking the screen with his finger.

[Fans all hope to get something back from their idol, so may I ask this Sugar Daddy fan, what do you want in return?]

Yu You pondered, using his experience from his previous life.

Guidance as a role model? A companion role sharing daily updates? Emotional value from a career development system?

However, none of those seemed to fit Jiang Xunzhou.

Jiang Xunzhou: [Just you being happy is enough.]

The words hit his sight, and Yu You froze. His heart suddenly skipped a beat in his chest.

A staff member knocked on the door. “Teacher Yu, the director announced preparation for the next scene.”

The young man quickly replied, “I’m coming now.”

Yu You: [Although Brother Shi won’t let me drink milk tea, I secretly tasted a sip. It was sweet and delicious. Thank you for the support afternoon tea!]

He also sent a happy cat emoji.

Yu You: [I can’t talk anymore, I have to go film!]

Jiang Xunzhou: [Okay, good luck with filming.]

The conversation on the screen stopped there. Jiang Xunzhou put down his phone and looked up.

Sitting across from him was his longtime friend, Jiang Zuwen, who was staring at him with a strange expression.

Jiang Xunzhou asked, “What is it?”

Jiang Zuwen said, “The Minor Celebrity you had Assistant Wan arrange the afternoon tea support for, is that the one who fainted in your arms at the Banquet, went into the hotel room with you, and was trending for three days and three nights?”

Jiang Xunzhou frowned slightly, somewhat displeased with Jiang Zuwen’s description. He corrected him, “He has a name. It’s Yu You.”

“Fine, Yu You. Let’s talk about him.”

Jiang Zuwen folded his arms, his expression growing even stranger. “I’ve known you for so long, I understand you, right? When the announcement of your relationship came out, I guessed you were putting on a show for the sake of the equity Old Master Jiang promised. But now…”

Jiang Xunzhou asked, “What about now?”

“But now, even I’m not sure if it’s real or fake. If you had Assistant Wan send Yu You the support afternoon tea, everyone would know your hand was behind it, and that would only make your relationship seem more real. But the problem is you didn’t do that. You stayed hidden behind the scenes the whole time and didn’t arrange for the media to hype it up.”

Jiang Zuwen stared at him meaningfully. “Doing good deeds without leaving a name—that’s not like your style of never acting without profit. Our CEO Jiang, are you playing for real this time?”

Jiang Xunzhou scoffed. “How could that be?”

Jiang Zuwen breathed a sigh of relief, then laughed. “I knew it. You scared me…”

Jiang Xunzhou said lightly, “Just indulging the kid to make him happy. Why involve the media? It’s noisy and annoying to watch.”

The smile on Jiang Zuwen’s face suddenly froze. The heart he had just put down leaped up again, and his tone was filled with disbelief, his voice rising eight octaves. “Wait, why would you indulge him to make him happy?”

Jiang Xunzhou just found Jiang Zuwen inexplicable. “He’s fun to tease. I’m happy to indulge him. Is that a problem?”

He had just teased the person last night. If Yu You figured out what the “sleepwalking” was all about and got angry and threw a tantrum, what would he do?

    Shouldn’t he indulge him beforehand?

“You wouldn’t understand,” Jiang Xunzhou said, too lazy to explain, showing no patience. He tapped the desk. “Tell me what you need quickly. I’m busy.”
