Rat, Rabbit, And Rabbit Transformed Into Humans And Married Their Natural Enemies. Chapter 6
byChapter 6
Xie Yuzhan understood that Lu Qinghe’s provocation was half-joking. The cunning, playful, spoiled, and willful young master of the Lu family meant no real harm—
But that didn’t mean he could accept such a challenge.
He looked at Lu Qinghe, his pace of speech slow but his tone deep. “Second Young Master, you should be thankful that your father and brothers and I are on good terms.”
Lu Qinghe narrowed his eyes slightly, the curve of his lips tightening. A palpable sense of pressure washed over him, making him realize he had perhaps crossed a line.
Some jokes were off-limits.
What soft persimmon? What easy target? This man was simply hiding his true capabilities!
He quickly raised both hands in a gesture of surrender and readily admitted his mistake. “My apologies, I misspoke. I absolutely won’t do it again.”
He glanced at Bai Zhi, who was still unaware of what had just happened, and continued, “I genuinely enjoy talking to him. It’s the kind of liking and connection you have between friends. Such a clean and pure disposition is rare in our circle.”
Xie Yuzhan lowered his gaze to Bai Zhi, seeing the top of his head, which looked soft and fuzzy under the light.
He raised his hand and rubbed it. The slightly tipsy person leaned into his palm, their hair gently brushing against his palm and fingers, soft and delicate.
Just like that, his emotions were calmed.
He curved his lips slightly, his voice softening. “He is not a canary. If you must use an animal analogy, he is a free little rabbit.”
A little flying rabbit that runs with the wind.
Lu Qinghe stared wide-eyed at the two people before him. Shock was an understatement for his current mood. What he was witnessing right now completely overturned his understanding.
Rumors really kill people!
He actually heard a tone of gentle indulgence in Xie Yuzhan’s voice. Surely the wind tonight was too noisy. Was this really a purely transactional marriage arranged by their elders?
Huh?
What kind of business marriage looked like this?
He took a breath and nodded in agreement. “President Xie’s description is very apt. I just regret not meeting him sooner, but it’s not too late now.”
Xie Yuzhan was noncommittal. Bai Zhi’s disposition was perhaps truly unique.
Bai Zhi, who had been dazed, wandering the great prairie in his mind, and had been offline for a while, slowly came back to his senses after being comfortably rubbed. He looked up, barely recognizing who this was from the person’s attire.
It was his cohabiting partner.
He curved his eyes and smiled, asking, “Are you done with your business? Can we go home now? I’m sleepy and want to go to bed.”
Xie Yuzhan watched Bai Zhi. The smile blossomed on the other man’s face, and the glass-like luster in his eyes seemed to flow, spilling out a river of stars—bright, dazzling, vast, and magnificent.
He shouldn’t have given Bai Zhi alcohol.
He rubbed the other man’s head again and replied, “It’s over. We’re going home now.”
“Okay—”
Bai Zhi braced himself on the armrest of the chair and stood up. He waved his hand at Lu Qinghe in greeting, telling him to keep in touch, and then turned to Xie Yuzhan. “Let’s go!”
Being watched by such clear eyes, Xie Yuzhan paused, then took Bai Zhi’s hand. Considering that the champagne that got the other man drunk was handed to him by Xie Yuzhan, he could temporarily act as the guide.
Lest the tipsy little rabbit follow someone else again.
He certainly wouldn’t do anything to cause himself trouble.
Lu Qinghe watched the newly married couple leave, stunned for a long while. That… if anyone ever said Xie Yuzhan was cold-hearted, emotionless, and a germaphobe again, he would be the first to object!
President Xie had actively reached out his hand!
Xie Yuzhan left through the main hall. After tonight, the circle would know about his marital status.
What threat could there be from being captivated by a pretty vase?
This uneventful peace would provide his paternal uncle with sufficient security. He was merely a good nephew, unaware of past events and extremely deferential to his elders.
Zheng Feng came to pick them up for the return trip. Bai Zhi obediently followed Xie Yuzhan’s instructions, sitting in the back seat. His head was spinning, feeling like he would fall asleep any second, but since they hadn’t arrived yet, he clung to the last bit of his energy.
However, probably due to the influence of alcohol, he wasn’t as nervous or afraid when looking at the Wolf Lord beside him.
Alcohol emboldened the timid little rabbit.
He even dared to stare directly at the man. To be fair, President Xie’s appearance had a strong classical Eastern charm. His facial contours were somewhere between sharp and gentle, allowing for both approach and retreat, possessing an innate elegance.
It would be better if this elegance and ruthlessness didn’t coexist.
He didn’t stick to the car door to keep his distance anymore. Instead, he leaned languidly in his seat, playing with his mini plushie, and looked at Xie Yuzhan. “President Xie, I feel like your pressure is quite high, although I don’t know why… but you could try growing some grass, you know.
“There’s a word for it now… right, healing. It can really soothe the heart and help people relax.
“Grass is weak and small. Anyone, human or small animal, can step on it and crush it, but as long as it gets a little sun and rain, it can stand up again. Even though it bends in the wind, the wind won’t stay in one place forever. When the wind passes, the grass can stretch and continue to grow.
“Looking at them, you feel like no matter what you encounter, it’s okay. It will always pass.
“And!”
Bai Zhi couldn’t help but laugh as he emphasized, “Grass smells great! It’s delicious! It’s double healing, from the body to the heart!”
After listening to Bai Zhi’s long monologue, Xie Yuzhan didn’t immediately respond, carefully wiping his glasses.
Bai Zhi had drunk some alcohol, making him much more talkative than when sober, but his tone and the content of his words were not annoying. His voice was slightly hoarse, carrying the soft, tipsy quality of alcohol, very light, like a gentle breeze blowing through the space.
Bringing with it the fresh, vigorous freedom of the prairie.
He already knew that Bai Zhi was very perceptive. The first time they met, he saw through Xie Yuzhan’s ruthlessness and gloom. Now, he said such things. The little rabbit’s perception of emotions was incredibly, almost magically, sharp.
And Xie Yuzhan wasn’t angry, nor did he feel offended. He was mostly surprised.
He looked at Bai Zhi’s watery eyes and said, “I’m not interested in growing grass, but your terrace has been set up. If you’re willing, I can visit and see if your flowers and grass are as good as you say.”
Bai Zhi nodded, shaking the little plushie. His eyes curved into crescents, and he said without hesitation, “Welcome! Grass deserves everyone’s affection!”
He was very happy to share the tenacious and stubborn grass with others, starting with the person living under the same roof.
Zheng Feng, in the driver’s seat, listened to the conversation in the back and couldn’t help but feel a little emotional.
Xie Yuzhan could actually listen to Bai Zhi’s rambling without impatience and even responded seriously. This was rare. Their President Xie was adept in the business and social spheres, but privately, he didn’t talk much. Communication with them was always concise; unnecessary words were omitted.
And what Bai Zhi had just said could, under normal circumstances, be categorized as unnecessary.
He remained silent about it.
This marriage, which was genuinely registered, would last for a year. It had just begun. If anything were to develop, it wouldn’t be too late to draw conclusions a year later.
Let them experience it, and let time flow, to see what kind of mark it would leave.
The remaining journey was short, but by the time they arrived home, Bai Zhi, who had drunk a little, was already asleep.
Xie Yuzhan’s expression was normal. He told Zheng Feng to get out of the car first, then looked at the person whose face was tilted toward him, sleeping soundly.
The other man’s cheeks still carried a slight flush, his eyelashes were neatly spaced, and the curve of his nose and lips were just right. The warm yellow light from the street lamps outside the car window cast an enchanting glow on him, making him look even more docile.
Making one want to reach out and touch.
He leaned closer and called out, “Bai Zhi? We’re home, wake up.”
The response was Bai Zhi’s peaceful sleeping face.
Perhaps he should shake the person awake, or he could just leave and let Zheng Feng handle it. No matter what method was used to wake him up, or whether he was helped, carried, or even hugged back inside, it shouldn’t concern him.
He shouldn’t care about this.
After a moment, he turned and got out of the car, instructing Zheng Feng to wake Bai Zhi.
Zheng Feng didn’t try to figure out why Xie Yuzhan had told him to leave and then return. The man always had his own reasons; they just needed to follow instructions.
He returned to the garage, opening the back car door. Bai Zhi was sleeping soundly. He called out twice but couldn’t wake him. Bai Zhi only adjusted his posture slightly and continued sleeping, showing no sign of waking up.
Even with a little alcohol, this was the quality of an infant’s sleep—eating well, sleeping well, and being happy—
That was a great blessing.
He bent down, intending to help Bai Zhi out of the car, when a series of footsteps suddenly sounded behind him, approaching from a distance, along with a voice he knew all too well.
It was Xie Yuzhan, who had returned.
