Chapter 9 I’ll Sleep With You

Even if Lu Shangyan was slow, he knew what video was playing on his phone. His expression tightened as he stared at Pei Yumin. “What are you watching on my phone? You shouldn’t visit bad websites, it will make the phone even slower.”

Pei Yumin lowered his head and handed the phone to him, eager to explain, “I just finished putting away the groceries in the fridge. Your phone automatically played the video. It must have a virus.”

Lu Shangyan’s phone was an off-brand model and quite old. It would be a miracle if it didn’t have a virus.

He nervously leaned closer, wiping his damp, warm palms repeatedly on his pajamas to prevent any residual water vapor from causing secondary damage to his phone. After all, he needed this phone until he successfully found a job after graduation.

But his phone screen had been on for a while and felt extremely hot. It was so slow that he couldn’t exit the video at all.

So he and Pei Yumin stood side-by-side, watching the screen. A man, completely bound in red rope, was being sexually assaulted and whipped by another man. The scene was interspersed with vulgar curses and erotic cries.

The man’s skin was pale, making the scene look even more seductive and depraved.

Lu Shangyan simply turned off the screen, but the sound still came through. He had no choice but to snatch the phone and turn his back to continue the difficult process of shutting it down.

Pei Yumin smelled the scent of shower gel wafting from him and felt like he was about to explode from the heat, just as Lu Shangyan finally managed to turn it off.

But when he exited, he discovered that the file was something he had downloaded himself and added to his cloud drive. He had even labeled it: Educational Film.

Lu Shangyan realized that this was what Xiao Fu had sent him!

Pei Yumin was tall, and his gaze easily passed over Lu Shangyan’s shoulder to the screen. He immediately said, “It must be a virus that downloaded random things. A severe one, too. The ‘Educational Film’ is just ‘Film’ now.”

Lu Shangyan’s neck turned red. He stiffly nodded, gave a few awkward laughs, and quickly fled back to his bedroom.

    He messaged Xiao Fu:

[s: Did you send the wrong thing?]

The other side didn’t reply. When he switched screens, he saw those few films again.

A chill ran down his spine, but he still couldn’t bring himself to press the delete button.

Outside the door, Pei Yumin’s heart was pounding rapidly. He had to press his hand against his chest to calm down slightly.

He used his other trembling hand to call Tang Suichen. “Shangyan was so proactive today! He’s thinking about doing that kind of thing with me now! But I’m not ready, what should I do?”

Tang Suichen had been hungover from the night before, having partied with a group until noon before returning home. He wasn’t fully awake yet.

Hearing this made his head spin even more. “Weren’t you guys pretty passionate last time? If he wants it, just give it to him. What are you afraid of? Can’t you perform? Or is your impotence acting up again?”

    Pei Yumin fell silent.

He quietly looked up at Lu Shangyan’s door, listened for a moment, and confirmed that Lu Shangyan had no intention of coming out. Then he lowered his voice. “Last time, it was because of the medicine. It was pure physical instinct, and I wasn’t conscious. But now I’m conscious. I’m afraid that if I see him lying on the bed, I’ll finish in a second…” He paused, then added, “Doesn’t the internet say the first time is always fast? I’m afraid I’ll disappoint him.”

“Besides, he mentioned not long ago that he felt a bit uncomfortable after waking up last time. He was affected and in pain. I’m afraid if he’s conscious, he’ll be even more uncomfortable.”

Tang Suichen’s face darkened the more he listened. He laughed mockingly. “Are you f*cking sick?”

Pei Yumin said seriously, “Are you jealous that I’m about to start dating?”

Tang Suichen laughed even harder. “Are you crazy? Why the hell would I be jealous of you? You know I only flirt, I don’t date.”

Pei Yumin was half-skeptical, but he pulled the topic back. “So what do you suggest?”

The two of them had grown up together since childhood, attending the same school until high school. They had encountered each other countless times in the school bathrooms that lacked partitions.

Tang Suichen took a deep breath and said, “If you don’t want him to be uncomfortable afterward, why don’t you go to the hospital and have half of that thing down there sliced off vertically?”

Pei Yumin clicked his tongue. “Why are you talking like that?”

Tang Suichen felt he had won that round and was in a better mood. “Fine. I’ll send you an educational video later. You’ll understand after watching it.”

Pei Yumin’s anger flared up quickly and subsided just as fast. His eyes immediately brightened. “Thanks.”

But when the so-called educational film arrived, Pei Yumin got angry again. This time, however, when he called back, no one answered.

Furious, he sent a long voice message, greeting Tang Suichen with as few swear words as possible.

But after cursing him out, he had a thought.

Lu Shangyan had also labeled that thing “Educational Film” just now!

He leaned back on the sofa and scratched his nose a few times.

Could Shangyan be planning to be the top?

The muscles in his butt tightened on the sofa. He immediately sprang up, his hand instinctively going to his rear.

Just then, a warning came from Lu Shangyan’s room. “I’ll give you whatever you want, but you can’t come here!”

Lu Shangyan quickly realized his voice was too loud and lowered it again.

A harsh honking sound came from outside the window. Pei Yumin hesitated for a moment, then slowly approached Lu Shangyan’s door.

He had only shuffled halfway when Lu Shangyan opened the door and came out.

His complexion was much worse than before, and his lips were pale. Pei Yumin knew instantly that his “negotiation” had not gone well.

Their eyes met. Lu Shangyan spoke first, which was rare. “My stomach feels a bit upset. Do we have any digestive tablets left?”

Pei Yumin turned and walked away, retrieving a strip from the first drawer of the living room coffee table and handing it to him. “I should still take you to the hospital for a check-up.”

    His stomach discomfort wasn’t a one-time thing.

Lu Shangyan ignored the suggestion. He popped a digestive tablet out, chewed it up, and swallowed it. He lowered his head and said, “In a couple of days, could you move out temporarily? I’ll pay for the hotel.”

Pei Yumin’s heart trembled. He tilted his head slightly, still only able to see Lu Shangyan’s nose and tightly pursed lips.

He briefly thought for a few seconds, then uncontrollably asked, “Are you bringing someone else home?”

He deliberately tried to sound calm, but there was a hint of bitterness in his tone.

Lu Shangyan said, “My brother is coming over.”

Pei Yumin froze. His mouth unconsciously wanted to curve into a smile; he thought Lu Shangyan was going to introduce him to his family.

But in the blink of an eye, he realized the situation was wrong. Lu Shangyan’s expression, and the words he had unintentionally overheard, negated all his assumptions.

He moved closer to Lu Shangyan, bending his waist lower, wanting to see all of Lu Shangyan’s expressions clearly.

But just as he saw Lu Shangyan’s eyes, which were red as if he were about to cry from distress, Lu Shangyan felt a surge in his stomach. He clutched his abdomen tightly and rushed into the bathroom, turning on the faucet and starting to dry heave.

His steps were frantic, and he accidentally bumped the door frame on his way in. It was clear that the nausea had come suddenly and violently, leaving him defenseless.

Pei Yumin followed him and saw tears welling up in his eyes. The veins on his forehead were bulging, and he looked utterly miserable.

As soon as he placed his hand on Lu Shangyan’s back and patted it a few times, he felt a tremor in his palm. He followed his hand and looked at Lu Shangyan’s arm and the hand pressed against the sink—they were both shaking.

Lu Shangyan finished throwing up and finally looked up at him. “I’m fine.”

But a hint of panic flashed in his eyes, quickly concealed, though Pei Yumin still noticed it.

He asked directly, “You don’t want him to come, do you?”

Lu Shangyan paused, then lowered his head again, cupping water to rinse his mouth. After repeating this several times, he mumbled, “I can handle it.”

He looked so pitiful that Pei Yumin couldn’t, and didn’t have the heart to, puncture the protective shell he thought he was wearing so well.

Lu Shangyan washed his face and felt much clearer.

The rented apartment was small, making the bathroom feel even more cramped.

Two adult men squeezed in front of the sink, their arms brushing against each other. Lu Shangyan took the opportunity to grab Pei Yumin’s arm and warned, “If you happen to run into him, you must pretend you don’t know me.”

Pei Yumin even softened his breathing, his voice becoming incredibly gentle. “Why?”

He didn’t want to startle Lu Shangyan; he wanted him to say more so he could figure out how to help him.

Lu Shangyan took a deep breath. “Otherwise, he’ll ask you for money, a lot of money. After he goes back, he’ll tell many people about it. Then they’ll latch onto you like leeches, sucking your blood constantly.”

Many times before, everyone close to Lu Shangyan had been driven away by such a group of shameless bloodsuckers.

For a long time afterward, he had isolated himself, afraid to communicate with anyone, always walking alone, fearing that anyone else close to him would be targeted.

If this incident spread, the surrounding environment would once again be filled with strange looks.

That kind of gaze was ten thousand times more humiliating than being looked down upon for being poor and solitary; it would crush him.

He had finally managed to build a new life and new friends. Everything was getting back on track, and he even felt a little lighter than before. Now, it was all about to be ruined.

He opened and closed his mouth a few times, wanting to say many angry things, but ultimately didn’t utter another word.

Pei Yumin raised his arms and pulled him into a hug, patting him lightly. At this moment, agreeing with him was the most important thing. “I can promise you that, but you have to promise me one thing.”

“If you still feel unwell tomorrow, you have to come with me to the hospital for a check-up.”

In Lu Shangyan’s view, this was a minor ailment, and going to the hospital was a waste of money. “No need. They say the stomach is an emotional organ. I’m probably just too nervous.”

The moment he finished speaking, Pei Yumin let go of him, pushed his shoulders back slightly, and bent down to meet his gaze.

Lu Shangyan’s voice instantly softened. “Fine, I promise you.”

Afterward, Pei Yumin contacted someone, wanting them to visit Lu Shangyan’s home soon.

There were many things he didn’t know, and if he asked Lu Shangyan abruptly, he wouldn’t tell the truth.

He had originally wanted to give Lu Shangyan one hundred percent respect and avoid using such underhanded methods, but now it seemed he had underestimated the problem.

By the time he finished giving instructions, Lu Shangyan had already returned to his room.

Pei Yumin was still worried about his stomach. He listened by the door for a while, but there was no sound.

It had been an emotional rollercoaster of a day, and Lu Shangyan was physically unwell. He guessed Lu Shangyan must be asleep.

In reality, Lu Shangyan stayed awake until dawn. His hands and feet were icy cold, and he occasionally twitched and shivered.

In the past, whenever those people called him, he would be plagued by nightmares. After too many times, he started suffering from insomnia.

Pei Yumin woke up early, planning to make Lu Shangyan red date and millet porridge to soothe his stomach. But as soon as he opened the door, he saw Lu Shangyan, who had heavy dark circles under his eyes, startling him.

Lu Shangyan had clearly been standing by his door for a while; his body was stiff. “My room is too quiet. I can’t sleep.”

He tried to control himself, striving to keep his voice steady, but Pei Yumin still detected his helplessness from the slight tremor in his voice.

He grabbed Lu Shangyan’s hand and pulled him into his own room. “I’ll sleep with you.”
