    Chapter 51

Xie Jingshen stared at Jiang Yifeng, a fierce look between his brows, so frightening that Jiang Yifeng was stunned.

Jiang Yifeng’s resentment and loneliness dissipated the moment he saw Xie Jingshen, but when asked, all the sharpness and malice he had shown when facing his uncle were gone.

Even the little fluff sticking up from the top of his head drooped down, his eyes lowered, looking pitiful.

“I ran into some jerk relatives.” Jiang Yifeng wrinkled his nose and grunted, “They probably heard I have a drama to film this year and came to ask me to borrow money.”

“…Jerk relatives, huh.” Xie Jingshen held the fairy wand, his gaze sliding over the crowd not far away, trembling and Don’t dare to get close, before returning to the soft and pretty face on the phone.

Xie Jingshen’s experience in dealing with relatives was limited to violent suppression.

Even on New Year’s Eve, he was softly warning everyone to behave themselves in the coming year and asking the few with sticky fingers when they would return the money.

But often, he was at a loss when it came to Jiang Yifeng’s affairs.

–Every time Xie Jingshen was at a loss, his mind, like an average player, would be filled with thoughts of the damn developers and the damn game.

    “But I scolded them.”

    Jiang Yifeng added.

“I told them that if they wanted to make trouble, I’d ruin them even if I didn’t become a star.” Jiang Yifeng’s eyes narrowed, his smug little look making Xie Jingshen’s heart itch.

He wanted to pinch Jiang Yifeng’s cheeks.

To see if they were as soft as they looked.

Even when saying harsh words, his cheeks were still soft.

“You have to warn them; the more you tolerate, the more they’ll push their luck.”

Xie Jingshen shook the fairy wand.

Under Jiang Yifeng’s focused gaze, he asked with a smile, “Want to stay up with me tonight?”

Jiang Yifeng immediately threw the matter of his uncle to the back of his mind.

His cheeks were almost pressed against the phone, his eyes bright, the pupils reflecting the sparkling fairy wand: “Is that the firework that crackles and pops after you light it?”

“Yes, and I have several.” Xie Jingshen carried a large bag of fairy wands outside.

Jiang Yifeng saw a row of huge firework boxes not far away. Xie Jingshen held a lighter and lit a fairy wand. The suddenly exploding starlight reflected Xie Jingshen’s smile, scattered stars falling down. He held the fairy wand in front of Jiang Yifeng, and his other hand gently tapped the screen a few times.

“Your lover has sent you a gift.”

The system notification brought Jiang Yifeng back to his senses. He ran to the bedroom and took out handfuls of fairy wands from his bag.

Jiang Yifeng looked back at Xie Jingshen, but Xie Jingshen only smiled.

The smile in Jiang Yifeng’s eyes deepened.

He pushed open the door and went downstairs, lighting a fairy wand in the open space of the neighborhood.

Jiang Yifeng heard children’s exclamations of surprise, and the surrounding children looked at the blossoming fireworks in his hand with excitement and envy.

“Xie Jingshen, it’s so pretty.” Jiang Yifeng clutched the rest of the fairy wands, “And I have so many!”

“We can light them all night tonight.”

Xie Jingshen’s brows and eyes were made even gentler by the yellow light.

Today, he had deliberately changed into a casual sweater and even styled his hair. Even though they couldn’t meet, it was still their first New Year’s Eve spent together.

They had only confessed their feelings a few days ago…

“We can stay up together tonight… and once the firecrackers go off tomorrow morning, we’ll have spent the New Year together.”

Xie Jingshen inadvertently adjusted his collar.

    “Happy New Year.”

Xie Jingshen’s words diluted Jiang Yifeng’s earlier stuffiness.

He finished one fairy wand and lit a second.

And Xie Jingshen was called by the Xie family to light the fireworks.

“The Xie family’s first firework can only be lit by the person in charge of the Xie family.” An old voice said from the side of the screen.

Jiang Yifeng observed Xie Jingshen, and his heart couldn’t help but tighten.

However, Xie Jingshen’s expression in the white frame didn’t change at all. He picked up the lighter and held the flame to the fuse. The rising fuse burned slowly inward. Xie Jingshen stood quietly by the fireworks, and only when the fuse was about to disappear did he slowly take two steps back.

The sound of the fireworks exploding filled his ears, and Xie Jingshen’s gaze was faint as he silently watched the fireworks filling the sky.

Jiang Yifeng was taken aback at first.

But he quickly noticed that Xie Jingshen’s hand holding the lighter was clenched tightly, as if trembling.

“Xie Jingshen…” Jiang Yifeng called out, and Xie Jingshen immediately came back to his senses.

He took the phone to a farther location to watch the fireworks, and Jiang Yifeng asked in a hoarse voice, “Aren’t you afraid of lighting things?”

“Yeah, pretty scared.” Xie Jingshen looked at the fireworks. “But I’m not afraid of fireworks. The way they explode is very pretty.”

“Then why did you still light them?”

“Because at home, I can’t show that I’m too afraid of anything.” Xie Jingshen leaned against the pillar, his expression appearing particularly relaxed, but Jiang Yifeng felt his heart ache listening to him.

Xie Jingshen appeared to be in charge of a large and prosperous family, but the open and hidden attacks within the family were always aimed at him.

Even though Xie Jingshen had completely taken control, he still had to carefully hide his weaknesses.

“When I was little, I was particularly loved by the elders. All the younger members of the Xie family had the potential to inherit the family business. Because I was favored, they were jealous. Once, during New Year’s Eve fireworks, they lit the fuse and pressed my head against the fireworks, making me watch the fuse burn away little by little.” Xie Jingshen said slowly, hugging his arms.

He saw that Jiang Yifeng’s eyes were almost instantly filled with tears.

But Xie Jingshen still said, “Later, when the fuse was about to burn out, they let go and watched me run away, laughing at me.”

“What happened later? Don’t put up with them.” Jiang Yifeng said, then pursed his lips, feeling that what he was saying was a bit of an afterthought, but he still couldn’t help but feel angry and wanted to give Xie Jingshen ideas: “Even if you put up with it before, a gentleman takes revenge ten years late. We can still take revenge now. Tonight, we’ll put laxatives in their food…”

“Well, I told their dads about their fighting, truancy, and other things. They got beaten pretty badly and were thrown into a closed boarding school for a year.” Xie Jingshen smiled.

Actually, aside from that little bit of revenge at the time, one of the two who had acted was burned in the face in a fire, and the other became a cripple from drug abuse, but there was no need to tell Jiang Yifeng about the other things.

Letting the two children be thrown into a closed boarding school that would inflict corporal punishment for a year after being beaten was already hell for them at the time.

Jiang Yifeng on the other end of the phone clenched his fists to vent his anger for him: “That’s right, they laid their hands on you, they must be punished.”

Xie Jingshen lit another fairy wand and shook it at the phone: “Look, my fairy wand is heart-shaped.” But only half a heart.

Jiang Yifeng looked through his handful of fairy wands and also found one with half a heart.

He lit it and held it in mid-air, and Xie Jingshen also brought his fairy wand closer.

“Our two fairy wands together make a heart.”

A handful of fairy wands kept the two playing for over two hours. Only after all the fairy wands were used up did they return to their respective rooms.

Jiang Yifeng mirrored the screen and watched the show, and Xie Jingshen also tuned in to the same station.

The same program, different people, different works.

Showing that they were not people from the same world.

But Jiang Yifeng still carefully listened to the programs on both sides, seriously commenting on which side’s show was better and which side’s song was better.

Time passed by, and Jiang Yifeng gradually couldn’t resist the drowsiness, his eyelids drooping.

Xie Jingshen didn’t call him, but just watched Jiang Yifeng quietly fall asleep on the bed.

The TV program gradually approached its end.

The adults of the Xie family woke up the sleepy children, and downstairs was still noisy.

But in Xie Jingshen’s bedroom, there was only quiet breathing from the phone, and the festive people on TV.

Xie Jingshen put the phone in front of him, waiting for the dawn to break in the sky, and when the sound of firecrackers rang out downstairs, Xie Jingshen finally called Jiang Yifeng’s name.

Jiang Yifeng opened his eyes in a daze.

“Happy New Year, good luck and happiness.”

“Xie Jingshen, Happy New Year… be happy every day.” Jiang Yifeng opened his sleepy eyes, but didn’t forget to respond to Xie Jingshen.

Xie Jingshen placed the gift he had prepared earlier in a box, used money to purchase a delivery spot on the system, and sent the gift to Jiang Yifeng’s side.

He was about to exit the system when he heard Jiang Yifeng call him in a daze.

A notification popped up on Xie Jingshen’s phone.

He stared blankly back to search and located a carefully decorated little box under the bed.

He opened the box. Inside was a tie clip, greeting card and red envelope.

The greeting card was filled with long sections of blessings, all written stroke by stroke by Jiang Yifeng.

Xie Jingshen pinched the tie clip.

The two people were from different worlds, so Xie Jingshen had no way of knowing the price of the tie clip.

He grabbed the phone to check the browser. He had originally intended to check the meaning of giving a tie clip, but after entering the search query, many keywords popped up.

    The first one.

[The first gift to give to a boyfriend must be a tie clip.]

    Xie Jingshen’s gaze flickered slightly.

His finger scrolled down the screen, slowly reading.

The content started with the normal meaning of a tie clip, the symbol of various identities, the symbol of status, a must-have for working outside… a pile of strange and wonderful words.

However, the further back the explanation went, the more outrageous it became.

One of them even analyzed that giving a boyfriend a tie clip was because the position of the tie clip was close to the neck, which meant control and possessiveness over the boyfriend. It was also an expression of extreme love, and it was also an expression of a desire to be dominated to the boyfriend.

Xie Jingshen clicked back to the APP again.

Jiang Yifeng was lying crookedly on the bed, his legs slightly curled, his arms hugging his knees, his clothes lifted up, revealing half of his waist.

The pale skin made Xie Jingshen subconsciously want to touch it.

The system screen suddenly went black.

    Xie Jingshen: “…”

Xie Jingshen: “? Don’t humans have waists?”

The system hid silently in the phone.

It thought to itself: It doesn’t know if humans have waists, but it feels that Xie Jingshen’s body temperature has risen.

–Humans have waists, and you can still get your heart rate up and your body temperature rise. If you produce some scenes that are not suitable for broadcasting in the next second… the system is afraid that everything will happen too quickly to block it.

Xie Jingshen looked at the phone.

On the first morning of the New Year, he experienced what it meant to be impotently furious.

And after everyone in the Xie family had taken a nap, when they had lunch, they saw Xie Jingshen, who was sitting in the main seat, wearing a suit, tie, and a tie clip.

Everyone in the Xie family: “?”

They glanced at each other’s casual clothes and the slippers they were shuffling in, and for a moment, they felt at a loss.

–Why is Xie Jingshen putting on airs?

And under everyone’s gaze, Xie Jingshen straightened his tie.

He calmly looked at everyone: “My boyfriend just gave me a New Year’s gift, so I’m just showing it to the family.”

Several people in the crowd offered insincere smiles.

    Xie Jingshen didn’t care.
