    Chapter 64: Acting

“Oh, so you two dare to look at me with such eyes? Hmph, in that case, there’s no need for us to continue being friends, right?” Shi Yi glared at Li Lingyu and Jiang Xianchuan with bulging cheeks, her anger overflowing. Her flushed face seemed ready to breathe fire. When the others in the camp heard the argument, they curiously came over to watch the spectacle.

“So what? You only ever cause me trouble, leaving me overwhelmed and exhausted,” Jiang Xianchuan said expressionlessly, arms crossed, coldly observing Shi Yi with a hint of disdain and annoyance in his eyes.

“Fine, since you’ve put it that way, from now on, we’re cutting ties. We’re no longer friends!” Shi Yi roared through gritted teeth, the fire of anger burning ever brighter in her heart.

Just then, Li Lingyu suddenly pulled out a sharp dagger from his waist, the cold, gleaming blade pointing straight at Shi Yi. He cursed fiercely, “You still have the nerve to say that? You were the one who poisoned the soup last time! I heard someone saw you acting suspiciously and putting something into the soup pot!”

“Hmph, you’re slandering me! Shameless!” Shi Yi glared at Li Lingyu, shouting back.

“A shameless person has the nerve to accuse others of being shameless? Why don’t you take a good look in the mirror and see what you are!” Jiang Xianchuan seized the opportunity to kick her while she was down, mocking Shi Yi coldly.

Hearing this, Shi Yi trembled with anger. Just as she was about to retort, Gu Huaishan hurried over. He asked with a puzzled expression, “What’s going on here? You were all getting along so well, why are you suddenly arguing like this?”

Facing Gu Huaishan’s question, Jiang Xianchuan simply rolled his eyes and muttered impatiently, “I can’t be bothered to explain it to you. It’s all this guy’s fault anyway!” With that, he turned his head away, ignoring everyone.

“Alright, alright, calm down first, don’t argue. We’re all in the same camp, we see each other all the time. If there’s a misunderstanding, let’s clear it up face-to-face, so we can get along better in the future,” Gu Huaishan said helplessly, looking at the three arguing people in front of him, especially the one glaring at Jiang Xianchuan with wide eyes.

The person was Shi Yi, who said with puffed-up cheeks, “I don’t want to get along with those two. They just bully people with their power!” On the other side, Jiang Xianchuan, one of the two being accused, retorted without backing down, “Who cares about getting along?”

The atmosphere was extremely tense, as if a single spark could ignite a raging fire.

Gu Huaishan stood between the three, feeling caught in the middle, sweat beading on his forehead. He tried to ease the situation, but the tense atmosphere made his efforts seem weak and futile.

Gu Huaishan turned to look at the onlookers, hoping to find out the cause of the argument from them, but to his disappointment, no one could give him a clear explanation.

Gu Huaishan felt very puzzled and thought to himself, “My plan hasn’t even started yet, how could there be such a commotion? Could it be because of Zheng Jun?” Thinking of this, he became vigilant.

“What’s wrong with you guys? Don’t keep it to yourselves, tell me everything, and I’ll help you solve it,” Gu Huaishan said patiently, trying to persuade them in a gentle tone.

However, the three of them seemed to have made up their minds and ignored his words, remaining silent.

After a moment of stalemate, Gu Huaishan finally gave up on the idea of being a peacemaker, shaking his head helplessly and sighing, “Forget it, if you don’t want to say it, then solve it yourselves.” With that, he turned and left the volatile scene, leaving the three still unwilling to give in.

In the following days, the cold war between the three continued. An entire week passed, and they didn’t say a single word to each other.

The atmosphere in the entire camp became unusually oppressive. When others saw them like this, they all chose to take a detour, afraid of being caught up in the inexplicable conflict.

Night enveloped the entire camp, moonlight filtering through the thin clouds, casting a faint glow. In a remote and quiet corner, Gu Huaishan quietly met with Zheng Jun.

“Are you sure the three of them haven’t said a word to each other this whole time?” Gu Huaishan asked urgently in a low voice, a hint of cunning flickering in his eyes.

Zheng Jun nodded vigorously, answering affirmatively, “Absolutely! As soon as they meet, they immediately roll their eyes at each other, their eyes full of hatred, wishing they could devour each other alive. And several times, they almost started fighting. I saw Shi Yi secretly cursing them behind their backs.”

Hearing this, the corners of Gu Huaishan’s mouth slightly lifted, revealing a subtle smile. He pondered for a moment and said, “In that case, the plan we originally made should be adjusted and put into practice. Go and find Shi Yi for me right away.”

Before long, Shi Yi hurried over. Gu Huaishan took out a small, exquisite bottle from his pocket, handed it to Shi Yi, and said softly, “This is a special potion.”

Shi Yi took the bottle with a puzzled look, examined it, and then looked up at Gu Huaishan, asking in confusion, “What is this?”

Gu Huaishan smiled slightly, his tone calm but with a hint of coldness, “Don’t worry, this potion is colorless and odorless, so others won’t be able to detect it at all. As long as you drink it, you’ll die of suffocation in an hour.”

Hearing this, Shi Yi’s face turned pale in an instant, her eyes widened in horror, and she asked in a trembling voice, “What… what do you mean?”

Gu Huaishan moved closer to Shi Yi and said in a low voice, “I know you hate Jiang Xianchuan and Li Lingyu very much right now, and those two have become a serious threat to my position, so I want to cooperate with you. As long as you let them drink this potion, we can eliminate our common enemies together and achieve a win-win situation.”

Shi Yi was silent for a long time, then suddenly sneered, staring at Gu Huaishan with sharp eyes and asking, “Why do you think I would agree to help you do such a heinous thing?”

Gu Huaishan’s expression instantly turned gloomy, and he said coldly, “You have no choice.”

After listening to Gu Huaishan’s words, Shi Yi hesitated again and again, finally gritting her teeth and nodding, answering, “Okay, I agree.”

With that, Shi Yi picked up the deadly potion and turned to leave.

Watching her receding figure, Gu Huaishan smiled triumphantly, a feeling of unspeakable ease and pleasure surging in his heart. However, he didn’t realize that he was gradually heading towards a trap carefully set by someone…
