    Chapter 39: You’re Really Honest

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the dappled leaves and onto the windowsill of the room.

Zhang Lin, with a spring in his step, arrived at the door of Jiang Xianchuan’s room. He raised his hand and gently knocked, calling out, “Young men, time to get up and come down for breakfast!”

Inside the room, Li Lingyu, still half-asleep, was awakened by the knocking. He rubbed his eyes and slowly sat up in bed. Turning his head to look at Jiang Xianchuan, who was still fast asleep beside him, he reached out and nudged his shoulder, saying softly, “Wake up, time to get up for breakfast.”

Jiang Xianchuan mumbled a few words, reluctantly opened his eyes, and after lingering in bed for a while, they finally got up, got dressed, and washed up. After tidying up, they went downstairs together.

As they entered the dining room, they saw Shi Yi chatting animatedly with a woman with beautiful curly hair. Hearing footsteps, Shi Yi turned her head and said to them with a smile, “You’re awake! Come over here, let me introduce you. This is Zhang Yan.” As she spoke, Shi Yi gestured towards Zhang Yan.

Jiang Xianchuan and Li Lingyu stepped forward and greeted Zhang Yan politely. Zhang Yan responded with a smile, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Although her complexion still looked a little pale and weak, she was clearly much better than before.

Then, Zhang Yan looked at the three of them gratefully and said sincerely, “Thank you so much for the medicine. If it weren’t for your help, I don’t know what I would be like now… maybe things would be very bad.” As she finished speaking, a hint of lingering fear flashed in her eyes.

“It’s just a trivial matter, there’s really no need to be so polite.”

At this moment, Zhang Lin put down his chopsticks and smiled, suggesting to the other two, “Why don’t you stay here for a while longer before leaving?”

Hearing this, Zhang Xin, who was chewing on her food, swallowed the bread in her mouth and said, “Dad’s right. I’ve noticed that those zombie detectors have been very active recently. And, they seem to be able to sense items smeared with zombie blood and flesh. So, I think it’s better for you to stay here for a few more days. It’ll be safer to set off after the zombies outside have dispersed a bit.”

Faced with the warm and sincere invitation from Zhang Lin and his daughter, Jiang Xianchuan and his companions exchanged glances, surprise evident on their faces.

Jiang Xianchuan hesitantly said, “But… wouldn’t that be too much trouble for you?”

However, before he could finish speaking, Zhang Lin waved his hand, as if he had already understood what they were thinking, and reassured them, “Don’t worry, you don’t need to worry about supplies. We have enough stored here for everyone to use for a long time. Besides, you saved my precious daughter, what is this little favor?”

“Alright then.” Seeing this, Jiang Xianchuan agreed readily, without any hesitation.

After breakfast, Zhang Xin suggested with great enthusiasm, “Why don’t we take these three friends around to look around!”

However, Jiang Xianchuan was so tired that he could barely keep his eyes open, and he waved his hands repeatedly, saying, “No way, I’m too sleepy, I really need to get a good sleep to recharge my energy, you guys go.” With that, he turned around and went back to his room to rest.

Back in his room, Jiang Xianchuan took out a delicate notebook from his backpack and sat down at the table, carefully recording all the information he had detected about the zombies. Just then, the door was gently pushed open, and it turned out that Li Lingyu, who had gone out for a stroll, had returned.

Jiang Xianchuan looked up at Li Lingyu, who had come in, and asked with a smile, “You’re back? You’ve been out for a long walk, how did it feel?”

Li Lingyu slowly walked to the bed and sat down, carefully considering how to answer the question. After a moment, he said, “Um… it was good, this place seems pretty nice.”

“Okay.” With this response, Jiang Xianchuan carefully closed the notebook in his hand and carefully checked if there were any missing records. After confirming that everything was correct, he put it into his backpack with satisfaction.

At this time, he looked up and his eyes fell on Li Lingyu not far away. He saw Li Lingyu staring at him intently, as if his whole being was lost in thought, not yet having recovered.

Seeing this, Jiang Xianchuan’s lips curled up slightly, revealing an imperceptible smile. He lightened his footsteps, like an agile cat, walking silently towards Li Lingyu.

Each step was extremely light, afraid of disturbing the other. Finally, he came to stand in front of Li Lingyu.

“Time to come back to your senses.” Jiang Xianchuan said in a low voice, his tone carrying a hint of tenderness and teasing. At this moment, he was only inches away from Li Lingyu, and could even clearly feel the other’s breath.

Li Lingyu’s body trembled, instantly pulling himself out of his thoughts. He blinked his eyes, looking at Jiang Xianchuan in front of him somewhat blankly. When he saw Jiang Xianchuan looking at him with a smile, a blush couldn’t help but creep onto his face.

“Am I good looking?” He blinked his lively eyes, looking at him expectantly as he asked.

“Yes.” Li Lingyu nodded subconsciously, his gaze falling involuntarily on Jiang Xianchuan’s face.

“You’re really honest, baby.” His lips curled up slightly, revealing a sweet smile, and this affectionate address seemed to carry a trace of magic, making Li Lingyu’s heart skip a beat instantly.

When Li Lingyu heard the word “baby,” his face turned red, like a shy child, and he immediately buried his head deeply in Jiang Xianchuan’s chest, not daring to look up to meet his fiery gaze.

“Don’t say it…” His voice was as low as the buzzing of mosquitoes, and only Jiang Xianchuan, who was close by, could barely hear him.

At this moment, he only felt that his heart was about to jump out of his throat, and the surrounding air seemed to become scorching hot. Jiang Xianchuan gently stroked his hair, comforting him gently, “Don’t be embarrassed, I just like you like this.”
