Chapter 29: The Diversity of Life

“These zombies are really mutating in their own ways.” Jiang Xianchuan watched the zombies in the suburbs constantly moving towards the city center, truly witnessing the diversity of life.

Some of these zombies had heads as big as balloons, as if they could explode at any moment; some were purple all over and could only crawl on the ground on all fours; some had big bellies, and infant zombies would occasionally crawl out from their stomachs…

These bizarre zombies made Jiang Xianchuan feel disgusted and shocked. He had never imagined that human mutations could be so diverse.

“Is this the zombie horde?” Shi Yi looked at the group of zombies in front of her, a chill rising in her heart. These zombies moved slowly, their eyes were dull, and they emitted a disgusting stench. They were densely packed together, like a black ocean, making people feel extremely oppressed.

Shi Yi’s eyes swept over the group of zombies, secretly rejoicing that the three of them had not been discovered. Otherwise, getting rid of this group of zombies would be a big problem. She took a deep breath and tried to keep herself calm.

Just then, Li Lingyu’s voice broke the silence, “Let’s go.” His tone was very calm, seemingly not caring about the scene in front of him.

Shi Yi and Jiang Xianchuan came back to their senses, nodded, and continued forward with Li Lingyu.

As they gradually moved away from the city center, the number of zombies around them decreased. Nevertheless, Jiang Xianchuan still felt a sense of unease. He frowned and said in a low voice, “We already know that zombies will go to the city center to form a zombie horde, but the situation here is a bit abnormal.”

Li Lingyu stopped, turned to look at Jiang Xianchuan, and asked, “What are your thoughts?”

Jiang Xianchuan pondered for a moment and replied, “I think there may be other reasons why these zombies are gathering in the city. Maybe some special smell or sound is attracting them.”

Shi Yi shuddered upon hearing this and said nervously, “Could there be other dangers?”

Jiang Xianchuan patted Shi Yi’s shoulder and comforted her, “Don’t worry, as long as we are careful, we should be fine. The most important thing now is to find a safe place to rest.”

So, the three of them quickened their pace and continued towards the suburbs. Along the way, they carefully avoided the occasional zombies, remaining vigilant at all times.

Finally, they arrived at an abandoned factory and decided to rest there temporarily.

“I’ll take the night watch,” Li Lingyu said, looking at everyone. He felt that he should take on this responsibility, after all, they were outside and needed someone to be vigilant.

“You take the first half of the night, and I’ll take the second half. We’ll switch. This will ensure that everyone gets enough rest and also ensure safety,” Jiang Xianchuan said.

He took out a tent from his space and started setting it up with Shi Yi.

“Okay.” Li Lingyu nodded in agreement.

“Alright, it’s settled then.” Jiang Xianchuan continued to busy himself, and soon the tent was set up. He went into the tent, tidied up the inside, and came out to say to the others, “Let’s eat something first, shall we?”

Jiang Xianchuan took out three boxes of instant noodles from his space. He skillfully tore open the packaging, put the noodles into a bowl, and added the seasoning packets and boiling water. The aroma of the instant noodles quickly filled the air, making mouths water.

He handed the cooked noodles to Shi Yi and Li Lingyu, and the three of them sat together, enjoying this simple but delicious dinner. They ate their instant noodles while chatting, their conversation revolving around tomorrow’s itinerary.

After eating, Jiang Xianchuan cleaned up the dishes and went back to the tent to sleep. He lay in his sleeping bag, closed his eyes, and felt the tranquility of the night and the cool night breeze.

Although his body was exhausted, his mood was pleasant. In this world, although they faced many difficulties and challenges, they also gained many valuable experiences and memories.
