    Chapter 22: Fever

Jiang Xianchuan had been observing more frequently lately. He sat in front of the window almost every day, sometimes for hours, hoping to see the mysterious man reappear.

However, after several days of continuous observation, he still didn’t see a trace of the mysterious man. This made Jiang Xianchuan begin to wonder if he was being too nervous and sensitive.

“Could it really just be a passing, helpful member of the public?” Jiang Xianchuan muttered to himself.

Just then, a familiar voice came from behind him: “What are you looking at?”

Jiang Xianchuan turned around and saw that it was Li Lingyu. He smiled and replied, “Nothing, just looking around. What’s up?”

Li Lingyu walked behind Jiang Xianchuan with a coat in his hand, and gently placed it on Jiang Xianchuan’s shoulders. “It’s getting cold, wear more clothes,” he said with concern.

Jiang Xianchuan smiled gratefully and said, “Thanks, you’re such a thoughtful darling.”

Li Lingyu shook his head, “It’s nothing.” Then he turned and left.

Unsurprisingly, Jiang Xianchuan developed a fever that night and became quite muddled.

Shi Yi quickly took out a thermometer to measure Jiang Xianchuan’s temperature, and saw that it was as high as 39.4 degrees!

She frowned with heartache and hurriedly found antipyretic medicine, gently coaxing Jiang Xianchuan to take it.

Looking at Jiang Xianchuan’s drowsy state, Li Lingyu frowned and said to Shi Yi, “Go and rest, I’ll take care of him.”

Shi Yi nodded, but still worriedly instructed, “Okay, if you get tired, remember to call me to relieve you.”

At that moment, Jiang Xianchuan only felt as if his head had been hit hard with a hammer, and the pain was unbearable.

Li Lingyu had just covered him with the quilt when he was ruthlessly kicked away, muttering, “Too hot, don’t want to cover up.” As if he had a deep aversion to the quilt.

However, Li Lingyu didn’t give up because of this. He put the quilt back on Jiang Xianchuan and said softly, “Can’t do that.”

Afterward, Li Lingyu quickly walked to the bathroom, filled a basin with cool water, soaked a towel, wrung it dry, and gently placed it on Jiang Xianchuan’s forehead.

Then, he slowly sat down by the bed, his eyes filled with concern and worry, quietly gazing at Jiang Xianchuan.

After a while, Jiang Xianchuan let out a weak murmur: “I want to drink water…” Li Lingyu immediately came back to his senses, nodded gently, quickly got up and walked to the water dispenser, and fetched a cup of warm water.

He carefully helped Jiang Xianchuan up, letting him lean in his warm embrace, then gently picked up the water cup, slowly brought the rim of the cup close to Jiang Xianchuan’s lips, and gently fed him every sip of water.

“Want more?” Li Lingyu asked gently, his eyes filled with concern.

Jiang Xianchuan shook his head gently, a smile on his face, and said, “No more, thank you.” His voice was a little weak.

Li Lingyu didn’t say anything, just reached out and gently touched Jiang Xianchuan’s forehead, feeling his temperature.

After confirming that his fever had subsided, he helped him lie down with peace of mind, and carefully helped him cover the quilt, for fear that he would catch a cold.

“Sleep, call me if you need anything,” Li Lingyu said softly, his tone carrying a hint of doting and care.

Jiang Xianchuan nodded slightly and responded softly, “Okay.” He felt Li Lingyu’s care and attention, and a warm feeling welled up in his heart.

Afterward, he slowly closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Li Lingyu sat quietly by the bed, watching Jiang Xianchuan fall asleep, his heart filled with pity.

He hoped that Jiang Xianchuan could recover his health as soon as possible and show his past vitality and smile again.
