Chapter 53 Acting as My Fiancée
Ye Xingchen looked at Lin Yu beside him, who was silent, his heart filled with reluctance and helplessness.
“Yu, no matter what happens in the future, I hope you can be happy.” His voice carried a hint of bitterness.
Lin Yu turned his head, looking at the scenery in the distance, “Hopefully.”
At this moment, a light rain suddenly began to fall from the sky. Ye Xingchen took off his coat, wanting to shield Lin Yu from the rain.
Lin Yu subconsciously dodged, “No need.”
Ye Xingchen’s hand froze in mid-air, a trace of disappointment flashing in his eyes.
The rain gradually grew heavier, and the two had no choice but to head back.
Back at their residence, Lin Yu’s clothes were already a little damp.
Ye Xingchen hurriedly found a clean towel and handed it to Lin Yu, “Quick, wipe yourself off, don’t catch a cold.”
Lin Yu took the towel, gently wiping his hair.
Ye Xingchen stood to the side, quietly watching him.
“It’s getting late, I’m going to rest for a while,” Lin Yu said, turning and walking into the room.
Ye Xingchen looked at his tightly closed door, sighing deeply.
Afterward, Ye Xingchen went into the spare bedroom, took out his phone, and sent a message to Qin Wanwan.
Ye Xingchen: “Continue acting as my fiancée, name any conditions you want, I can help you.”
Not long after the message was sent, Qin Wanwan replied: “Want me to help you? What benefits are you going to give me?”
Ye Xingchen frowned, quickly replying: “As long as I can do it.”
Qin Wanwan: “I want you to help me get the cooperation rights to your company’s ‘South Sea Bay Resort Project’, and you have to guarantee that I can get a promotion in the company.”
Ye Xingchen hesitated for a moment, but still replied: “Okay, I promise you, but you have to play the part well.”
Qin Wanwan: “Don’t worry, but don’t let the act become real, and actually fall in love with me.”
Ye Xingchen scoffed, replying, “Don’t dream.”
Ending the conversation with Qin Wanwan, Ye Xingchen leaned against the headboard, his mood extremely complicated.
He didn’t know if he was doing the right thing, but as long as he could trick Lin Yu back to the country, he was willing to do anything.
After a while, Ye Xingchen walked out of the room and knocked on Lin Yu’s door.
“Yu, what do you want for dinner tonight?”
Lin Yu was silent in the room for a while before replying, “Whatever, you decide.”
Ye Xingchen frowned, pushed open the door and walked into the room, looking at Lin Yu sitting on the bed, and said, “You’re being so perfunctory with me. How about we eat out?”
Lin Yu shook his head, “Not in the mood, let’s just make something simple at home.”
Ye Xingchen said helplessly, “Then I’ll go see what ingredients are in the fridge.”
After speaking, Ye Xingchen walked out of the room, went to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and looked, saying, “There’s steak and vegetables. How about we pan-fry a steak and make a vegetable salad?”
Lin Yu in the room responded softly.
Ye Xingchen began to prepare dinner, and the sounds of chopping vegetables and pan-frying steak came from the kitchen.
Lin Yu silently walked to the living room, staring blankly at the scenery outside the window.
Before long, Ye Xingchen carried the finished dinner to the dining table, calling out to Lin Yu, “Yu, it’s ready, come and eat.”
Lin Yu walked over and sat down. The two quietly ate their steak, the atmosphere somewhat heavy.
Ye Xingchen looked at the silent Lin Yu, got up, and took out a bottle of wine and two glasses.
“How about we have some wine?”
Lin Yu didn’t say anything, taking it as tacit consent.
Ye Xingchen poured wine for both of them, clinked glasses, and drank it all in one gulp.
Lin Yu also followed suit, drinking a cup.
After a few glasses of wine, the two talked more.
Ye Xingchen tried to break the silence: “I’m leaving tomorrow, don’t you have anything to say?”
Lin Yu raised his head, his eyes a little evasive, “What’s there to say?”
Ye Xingchen put down the knife and fork in his hand, looking seriously at Lin Yu.
“Are you really willing to let me leave just like this?”
Lin Yu’s movements paused, biting his lip, “Xingchen, don’t say anymore.”
Ye Xingchen poured himself another glass of wine, drinking it all in one gulp, and said with a bitter smile, “Yu, are you really being so heartless?”
Lin Yu’s eyes turned red, his voice with a hint of choking, “Xingchen, it’s not that I’m heartless, it’s that we’re simply impossible.”
“Then I won’t ask anymore, let’s drink.”
The two drank one cup after another. Lin Yu gradually couldn’t handle the alcohol, his eyes becoming blurred.
Seeing his state, Ye Xingchen thought he was really drunk, tentatively asking, “Who am I?”
Lin Yu glanced at him, vaguely answering, “You’re Ye Xingchen.”
Ye Xingchen continued to ask, “Who is Ye Xingchen?”
Lin Yu giggled, saying, “Ye Xingchen is my best friend.”
Ye Xingchen continued to press, “What else?”
Lin Yu suddenly cried, saying, “Xingchen is the most important person in my life.”
Seeing him like this, Ye Xingchen knew he was definitely drunk, then asked, “Then what do you want to do to me?”
Who knew Lin Yu would directly get up and lean in, suddenly kissing Ye Xingchen.
Ye Xingchen was stunned at first, then tightly hugged Lin Yu, deepening the kiss.
After a long time, the two separated, and Lin Yu directly fell onto Ye Xingchen, falling asleep.
Ye Xingchen looked at Lin Yu, his heart filled with mixed feelings.
“You clearly like me so much, but you have to run away.” Ye Xingchen muttered to himself, his eyes revealing anger and unwillingness, “I won’t let you get your way.”
Then he directly picked up Lin Yu in his arms, carrying him towards the bedroom.
Looking at his flushed cheeks, Ye Xingchen couldn’t help but lower his head and kiss his lips, “You really are cute.”
Walking into the bedroom, Ye Xingchen gently placed Lin Yu on the bed, covering him with the quilt.
Lin Yu was still muttering some unintelligible words. Ye Xingchen sat by the bed, quietly watching him.
Not knowing how long had passed, Ye Xingchen sighed, getting up to leave.
Just as he reached the door, Lin Yu suddenly called out, “Xingchen, don’t…go.”
Ye Xingchen’s body stiffened, slowly turning around, only to find that Lin Yu was still in his sleep.
He smiled bitterly, walked out of the room, and gently closed the door.
The next day, Lin Yu woke up, his head pounding.
He looked at the room, trying hard to recall what happened last night, but only remembered some vague fragments.
He lifted the blanket, found that his clothes were still on, and breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Walking out of the bedroom, Lin Yu subconsciously looked to see if Ye Xingchen was still there. Seeing Ye Xingchen sitting in the living room, he heard footsteps and looked back at Lin Yu.
Ye Xingchen saw him in this state, frowned, and said, “Good morning, why did you come out without freshening up?”
Lin Yu pursed his lips, said nothing, and turned to walk into the washroom.
He looked at himself in the mirror, his face pale and his eyes swollen, indeed in terrible shape.
He turned on the tap, splashing his face with cold water, trying to clear his head.
Composing himself, Lin Yu got dressed and then returned to the living room.
Ye Xingchen was sitting on the sofa in the living room, motionless, his eyes empty.
“When are you leaving?”
For some reason, Lin Yu’s calm tone made Ye Xingchen feel particularly grating, and he couldn’t help but frown.
“I said I’d leave today, I’ll leave today, what’s with rushing me.”
“You know I don’t mean that…”
“What do you want for breakfast?”
Lin Yu sat down on the sofa, “Whatever, I’m fine with anything.”
Ye Xingchen got up and went to the kitchen, heating up milk for the two of them and making sandwiches.
After making them, Ye Xingchen carried the food back to the living room. The two sat at the dining table, eating in silence.
Ye Xingchen looked at Lin Yu, abruptly opening his mouth: “I’ll give you one last chance, if you’re willing to be with me, I can break off the engagement with her.”
