An Endearing Date

After Yi Shang’s birthday, campus life continued in an orderly fashion. But Yi Shang had been pondering finding an opportunity to have a date with Jiang Wan’yuan that was just for the two of them.

On this day, Yi Shang finished her business in the principal’s office and went to Jiang Wan’yuan’s office. Jiang Wan’yuan was buried in grading student work. Noticing someone had come in, she looked up and saw it was Yi Shang. A bright smile immediately bloomed on her face, “Yi Shang, what brings you here?”

Yi Shang walked to her side and said softly, “Wan’yuan, I’ve taken a day off for you. We’re going on a date tomorrow.”

Jiang Wan’yuan was stunned at first, then her eyes filled with surprise, “Really? That’s great! But, what made you suddenly want to go on a date?”

Yi Shang lowered her head slightly, avoiding Jiang Wan’yuan’s gaze, and said softly, “I just want to be alone with you.”

Jiang Wan’yuan smiled as she stood up and hugged Yi Shang, “I want to be alone with you too. Where are we going tomorrow?”

Yi Shang looked up at Jiang Wan’yuan, a trace of tenderness flashing in her eyes, “To the Interstellar Garden. I heard they’ve recently introduced many rare flowers there. Haven’t you always wanted to see them?”

Jiang Wan’yuan was as excited as a child, “Wow, I can’t wait! I need to think carefully about what to wear tomorrow.”

Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan’s happy appearance, the corners of her mouth rising unconsciously, “You look good in anything.”

The next day, the sun was shining brightly. Jiang Wan’yuan dressed herself up carefully, wearing a light blue dress adorned with small, star-like sequins, paired with white ankle boots, looking fresh and cute. Yi Shang wore a simple white shirt and black trousers, still with that aloof look, but with a hint of anticipation in her eyes.

The two held hands and arrived at the school’s Interstellar Transportation Station, ready to go to the Interstellar Garden. In the light of the teleportation, Jiang Wan’yuan chattered excitedly, “Yi Shang, I heard that the flowers in the Interstellar Garden release different fragrances depending on the different interstellar energies. I can’t wait to go and smell them.”

Yi Shang gently squeezed Jiang Wan’yuan’s hand and said softly, “Don’t worry, we’ll be there soon.”

The light dissipated, and they appeared at the entrance of the Interstellar Garden. A huge arched door came into view, covered with colorful vines, blooming with strange flowers, and emitting a faint sweet fragrance. Jiang Wan’yuan took a deep breath and pulled Yi Shang’s hand, impatiently walking into the garden.

In the garden, all kinds of rare flowers were competing for beauty. Some flowers were like colorful planets suspended in the air, emitting a soft light; some petals were as soft as silk, swaying gently in the breeze; and some flower stems were covered with crystal-clear leaves, as if they were carved from gemstones.

Jiang Wan’yuan was like a happy little bird, shuttling through the flowers, sometimes leaning close to the flowers to smell their fragrance, and sometimes pulling Yi Shang to take pictures. Yi Shang quietly followed behind her, her gaze always gently falling on Jiang Wan’yuan. Watching her happy appearance, the corners of Yi Shang’s mouth also lifted slightly.

“Yi Shang, come and look at this flower, it looks like it’s smiling at me!” Jiang Wan’yuan waved excitedly. Yi Shang walked forward, looked at the flower with slightly curled petals that resembled a smiling face, and couldn’t help but smile, “It’s very cute, just like you.”

Jiang Wan’yuan’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she pulled Yi Shang to find a place to sit down among the flowers. Jiang Wan’yuan leaned on Yi Shang’s shoulder and said softly, “Yi Shang, I feel so happy when I’m with you.”

Yi Shang gently put her arm around Jiang Wan’yuan’s shoulder and said, “Me too, Wan’yuan. As long as I see you happy, I feel like everything is wonderful.”

The two sat quietly for a while, enjoying the peaceful and beautiful time. Suddenly, Jiang Wan’yuan stood up and said playfully, “Yi Shang, let’s play a game. Let’s find ten of the most special flowers in the garden and see who can find them the fastest and most accurately.”

Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan’s expectant eyes and nodded in agreement, “Okay, but don’t cheat if you lose.”

“I won’t!” Jiang Wan’yuan said, and ran towards the depths of the garden. Yi Shang looked at her back, smiled helplessly, and got up to start searching as well.

Jiang Wan’yuan carefully searched through the flowers. One moment she discovered a flower shaped like a butterfly, and the next moment she saw a flower that flashed with light in rhythm with the music. She excitedly showed the flowers she found to Yi Shang, and didn’t forget to urge, “Yi Shang, you have to hurry, I’ve already found so many!”

Yi Shang walked unhurriedly. Relying on her keen observation, she quickly found many special flowers as well. In the end, the two found the tenth special flower almost at the same time, ending in a tie.

“Haha, it looks like we tied!” Jiang Wan’yuan smiled happily, a slight sweat on her forehead, looking particularly moving in the sunlight.

Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan, her eyes full of doting, “Yes, a tie. We’re both amazing.”

Unknowingly, the sun gradually set in the west, and the sky was dyed orange-red, coating the entire Interstellar Garden with a dreamy veil. Yi Shang took Jiang Wan’yuan’s hand and said, “Wan’yuan, let’s go to the viewing platform over there. I heard you can see a beautiful sunset there.”

Jiang Wan’yuan nodded, and the two walked hand in hand to the viewing platform. The viewing platform was located at the highest point of the garden, with a very wide field of vision. They stood on the viewing platform, watching the sun slowly set, dyeing the clouds on the horizon with gorgeous colors, which complemented the exotic flowers and plants in the garden, making it as beautiful as a dream.

Jiang Wan’yuan leaned in Yi Shang’s arms and said with emotion, “Yi Shang, I’m really happy today. Thank you for bringing me here.”

Yi Shang gently kissed Jiang Wan’yuan’s forehead, “As long as you’re happy. I’ll take you to more interesting places in the future.”

After sunset, stars dotted the sky. Jiang Wan’yuan raised her head, looked at the starry sky, and suddenly said, “Yi Shang, do you think we will be like these stars, always shining, always together?”

Yi Shang hugged Jiang Wan’yuan tightly and said firmly, “Yes, Wan’yuan. No matter what happens in the future, I will always be with you.”

The two stayed on the viewing platform for a while longer, enjoying this quiet and romantic moment. Then, Yi Shang took Jiang Wan’yuan’s hand and slowly walked out of the Interstellar Garden.

In the transportation station on the way back, Jiang Wan’yuan said a little reluctantly, “I really don’t want to go back so soon. Today’s date was so wonderful.”

Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan, her eyes full of tenderness, “We still have a lot of time in the future. There will be more wonderful dates.”

The light flickered, and they returned to the school. Although the date was over, the love between Jiang Wan’yuan and Yi Shang became even stronger. After returning to the dormitory, Jiang Wan’yuan was still immersed in the wonderful memories of today. Yi Shang looked at her happy appearance, and her heart was also filled with warmth.

The next day, Jiang Wan’yuan returned to work full of energy. The students found that Teacher Jiang was particularly happy today, and the smile on her face never stopped. During the break between classes, a student asked curiously, “Teacher Jiang, why are you so happy today? Is there something good happening?”

Yi Shang looked at Lin Jichuan’s departing back and smiled helplessly. And she would always protect this love and spend more wonderful times with Jiang Wan’yuan.

In the days that followed, Yi Shang and Jiang Wan’yuan were still busy on campus, but they always took time to be with each other. Their love, like an evergreen tree on campus, became more and more luxuriant and beautiful.
